Getting there from Doomlore Shrine

Remnants of the Ebon Vanguard survived in the Catacombs of Kathandrax. While on a mission to recover a legendary weapon, they were ambushed by overwhelming Charr forces. Captain Langmar made it clear to his[sic] troops: recovering Kathandrax's Crusher was of utmost importance. Broken and weary, the remaining Vanguard found little solace, for they found the caves infested with fire elementals and other terrible creatures. Their numbers few, they no longer had the strength to reach the artifact. Because its immense power would surely aid the Ebon Vanguard in the ongoing battle against the Charr, we had no choice but to help them retrieve it. Kathandrax's Crusher was hidden deep beneath the raging fires of Sacnoth Valley, protected by a fiery elemental lord.

From Doomlore Shrine head South East to Sacnoth Valley. Once in Sacnoth Valley hug the East side and head south. The entrance to the dungeon is in the South East corner.

Kill the Flame Guardian to disable the Fire Traps south of the southern furnace, then kill the Infernal Siege Wurm at the bottom of the trench for the Dungeon Key. The Infernal Siege Wurm is far enough to the east to be targeted by spells and range attacks from the top of the cliffs. Running a team with spell caster shutdown proves to be useful.

Kill the southern Regent of Flame to make the Dungeon Key spawn. Southern route, though longer, poses fewer opportunities for melee while on burning surface. There are fire traps and Infernal Siege Wurms that can be deadly to your party.

When fighting the Flame Djinn, to lower the damage caused from Consuming Flames equip all heroes with melee weapons, as the damage is lowered from 400 to 50 if all 8 party members are in melee range. This also reduces its healing. Pain Inverter and knock down effects are particularly effective. After aggroing the boss there are 2 flaming rocks that will go around the chamber the boss is in. Like other rock traps they will instantly kill a player. One flaming rock travels clockwise around the inner perimeter and the other counterclockwise around the outer perimeter, so flag heroes not engaged in melee in between. It is highly recommended that when the dungeon has been completed, you wait for the timer to finish counting down so you will be transported to the exit where you can claim your reward from Swithin Nye.

  • 1500 Ebon Vanguard reputation points are awarded for completing this dungeon for the first time in normal mode, and 750 points are awarded for subsequent completions. 2,250 Ebon Vanguard reputation points are awarded for completing this dungeon in hard mode for the first time, and 1,125 points are awarded for subsequent completions.
  • Killing a Becalmed Djinn on level 3 will cause a number of hidden monsters to spawn, which instantly aggro on the party.
  • Fire Jet and Fire Dart turrets can be disabled by killing the Flame Guardians.
