Joko's Domain

Locations of all bosses

Collector and bounty locations
Joko's Domain is named after the being that holds absolute authority in this area — Palawa Joko. This area is almost literally crawling with undead, with elementals, mandragors, monoliths, and Margonites filling in the gaps. This is one of most dangerous areas in the Desolation.

[edit] Notes

  • This area is accessible via Basalt Grotto even before completion of the Gate of Desolation mission (the mission where you are introduced to the Junundu wurms). It is possible to reach the exits to the Ruins of Sahlahja and the Shattered Ravines from here by hugging the walls and so avoiding the sulfurous sands, but this is very difficult.
  • Despite the availability of the Margonite Battle bounty, without any active quests, there are actually only a handful of Margonite groups, sometimes accompanied by a single torment creature.
  • These quests affect the spawns in this area:
  • Vanquisher runs of this area without active quests requires defeating around 420 foes. Including quest influences, it has been reported to range from 409 to 438.
    • The total number of enemies here will eat up significantly more time compared to other areas. Be prepared to possibly spend 1.5 hours here, especially if you are attempting to vanquish with heroes and henchmen only.
    • Frozen Soil is an essential skill to bring against the undead groups when fighting on foot.
    • Arneh the Vigorous is capable of spamming Signet of Return quite frequently. However, it is possible to pull him far enough to come within range of Junundu, after which you can kill his group faster than they can be resurrected.
    • Shekoss the Stony is a lethal earth elementalist usually grouped with three Awakened Dune Carvers, two Awakened Acolytes, and another two or three Awakened; spread out before engaging (only for Aftershock). This group cannot be pulled to within range of Junundu, but it is possible to pull and spread out the group, providing an opening to quickly kill an Acolyte while the other is out of range to resurrect it.
    • Consider going for the above two bosses first and restarting if you fail to kill them without too much death penalty.
    • Many elemental groups in this area are of size 5 or 6. Their combined damage potential in hard mode is enough to easily kill a Junundu. Be prepared to retreat when necessary.
    • The Return of the Undead King quest in particular will produce more undead spawns.
    • This is the hardest area to vanquish in the game. This is mainly due to dying and accumulating lots of Death Penalty while in Junundu Form, then having to kill normally with 30-50% DP on.
  • There is a group of Mandragors on a rocky island towards the east that is easily missed; that small rocky space can be reached by heading southeast from the area below three bridges that are patrolled by insect groups and then crossing a bridge.
  • The wurm spoor outside the Bone Palace is located very close to rocky ground. Because of this, henchmen/heroes in your back row may inadvertently be ejected from their Junundu right after entering. Check that everyone is in a Junundu before moving out.
