[edit] Notes
- It should be considered that the primary offensive advantage of shadow steps is not necessarily the fact that a gap can be closed quickly, but that it can be used to catch a target off guard or already busy, and thus, unable to apply effective defensive countermeasures. For instance, particularly in PvP, it is possible that the player may make better use of shadow steps if they are utilized after the initial engagement has already started as opposed to leading the engagement by being the first to approach stepping range and tipping off the target to an imminent shadow step.
- Unlike Teleport, if you are carying a Bundle, you will drop it while shadow stepping, which makes it useless for flag running.
- Users may not shadow step to locations that they cannot normally walk to and therefore cannot shadow step past closed gates to enemies. This differs from regular teleportation.
- Shadow stepping does not have a distance limitation unless you would shadow step over impassible terrain, in which case the shadow step is restricted to the radius of the radar.
- Note to the above two points: The game uses regular pathing to determine where and how a character shadow steps. Therefore, the game only allows you to shadow step to locations it can normally path the character to (i.e. you can only shadow step to locations that your character could move to by clicking).
- A player with Recall upon a party member who goes outside of the radar area will shadow step to them involuntarily (but before other maintained enchantments are cancelled).
- Shadow stepping while activating a skill cancels the skill. This could occur if a stance such as Shadow Walk ends while casting.
