Transferring items between characters

I have e.g. a ranger and a warrior character on the same account, even in the same campaign (Prophecies). The ranger finds a weapon that would be great for the warrior. How can I transfer the weapon from my ranger to my warrior?

And...second question if I may, if I delete a character, do all his/her possessions in the vault boxes and inventory disappear, too? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Postscriptumps (talk).

Put the stuff you want to transfer into the vault box and then retrieve it with the appropriate character.
Just those in invetory would disappear. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 06:38, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Please note that, once you delete the character, anything that was customized to that character (even if left in the storage vault) becomes useless, even if you make another character with the same name (i.e., things that, when you mouse-over their icons, say "Customized for (character name)" in the description).--Dragon Nataku talk to me 18:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

black dye

what dyes when mixed would turn istan dervish black, and elite druids black without buying the dye ive tryed purple and green only made a mint color--99.182.83.171 03:15, 18 February 2009 (UTC)trapper randy

I don't think it's possible to mix enough dyes to get a pure black... you'll probably need to buy a black dye if you really want it dyed black. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:15, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
One of the reasons why black dye is so expensive is that it can't be imitated. The only way to have black armor is to use black dye.- TheRave talk (talk) 12:28, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Assasin/Dervish

I want to creat a new character in Guild Wars Prophecies that is A/D but i don't really know how that works. I tried to read in the FAQ but it was'nt that easy to understand... could someone tell me a simple way todo it.

thanks--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:94.254.8.172 (talk).

An Assassin primary can only be created in Factions you can't create a new character in Prophecies as an Assassin. For the Dervish secondary you will have to visit a Nightfall Secondary Profession Changer. So, create your character in Factions, visit Nightfall, then go to Prophecies and play.- TheRave talk (talk) 12:27, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Further to what TheRave said, if you want to start from the very beginning of Prophecies, you can only use the core professions, since Assasins are a Factions profession and are only available as a primary profession for characters starting in Factions. See the profession article for more info. You can start an Assasin and travel to Tyria for the Prophecies campaign, but you will have to complete the first part of Factions first, and miss the first part of Prophecies. Dancing with a shiny ball above head

Hello i have seen some characters dancing and they have a shiny glowing ball or a disco ball above there head, how do i get these?

Thank you - Halox Sythe --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Omnisythe (talk).

If it's something like this, i.e., with "shadow dancers" AND a glowing light above them, then it's because of Factions CE (Collector's Edition), which only gives that special dance to assassins and ritualists with a Factions CE access key linked to their account. If it's either this or this, then it's because that person has Nightfall CE (Collector's Edition) linked to their account, which only gives the special dance to paragons and dervishes. If you have the CE access key linked to your account, and have one of those professions, you can dance like this by typing /dancenew. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 16:59, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Mixing Dyes

I have bought some dyes i wish to mix but how do i do this, when i click on one to mix with the other it doesnt mix, i tried green + purple, blue + green, Blue + purple but got no result, can somebody help? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Omnisythe (talk).

try to apply the dye to the armour or tiem you wish to dye, that will bring up the dye preview screen from their you will be able to add different dyes to the mix. The maximum mix is that of 4 dyes, with at least 2 of them having to be different colours. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 17:14, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

extra attribute point quest

i have met all the requirements for the 15 extra attribute points quest. i have completed the heroes journey given by vanyi in droks. she has no other quest i.e. the heroes challenge which gives the 15 points on completetion. i have 2 prophecie characters that have completed this quest and the desert one giving them 185 total attribute points with heroes challenge they should have 200 total points. any ideas how we can trigger vanyi into giving the heroes challenge quest??? tks70.95.155.138 19:19, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

The Hero's Challenge page states that you must have changed your secondary at least once via a profession changer or one of the profession-changing quests in the desert before you can acquire The Hero's Challenge quest. Did you try that? Otherwise, I don't know. Sorry. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 22:53, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

........ Sorry to bother but I'm a little confumbled

so basicly this is what, currently i'm trying to gain vangaurd points and i read the handbook guide but i unfortunatly read it to late and atleast 5 or so quests weren't recorded this bugs me because i've done about 12 snd it really takes the edge out of the points one gets at the end so i was wondering do i have to bother and finish eye of the north or can i possible restart the quests or do them over to regain chapters.......--199.126.169.164 05:42, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

You should be able to take the book back to any of the NPC's that give them and 'buy' the pages for those quests you completed prior to acquiring the book. You can also just repeat the quests. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 05:53, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
A note about repeating quests: you can always talk to the Scrying Pool in the Hall of Monuments, choose "I seek guidance," and you can retake any primary quest from there. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 17:22, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

falling out quest vanguard

ok im missing something important here. finding the bodies of the vanguard soldiers is not happening. i have listend to sergeant weststar outside longeyes ledge. now there are 2 portals to sacnoth valley which is where brent poltroons bodie is suppose to be to give the quest. i have checked both portals from longeyes ledge and from domlore shrine. without finding his body i still vanquished sacnoth valley without finding the bodies in the location indicated on the map. this is not bad earning lots of vanguard points but not obtaining the skill from the quest which is awsome.oh i do have a clean storybook for eotn. any ideas?? 70.95.155.138 19:44, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

(merged both questions into one) Patience, grasshopper. Posting your question twice will not get it answered any faster. Now, the Error code page states that error code 058 means that there is probably something blocking the game client from connecting to the internet. survivor title

Just delete the Character and recreate it. --SilentStorm Talk to me 18:53, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
And even if it seems obvious, don't forget to transfer any items, bags, runes, and gold to another character before you delete this one. This also applies to your character's heroes and their items. 76.30.79.54 21:23, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
But if i delete the character i loose all other titles.Alternatives?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:92.81.230.107 (talk).
The only way is to delete the character and start again. If you accidentally died while trying to achieve the survivor title its unlikely you would have obtained (m)any other titles, so it shouldn't matter. If you have lots of other titles it seems you're missing the point of the survivor title.- TheRave talk (talk) 18:23, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

eye of the north problems

i tryed reinstalling eye of the north and starting a new charecter and it stillwant open the eotn missions, will it not install correctly if you have installed the trilogy set, when i put the eton disc in it asks me if i want to play eotn i press yes and it sends me to the trilogy version,i dont know what else to do.i look up on the guild wars store for extras it says already purchased all but the eotn expansions.my charecter now is lvl 13.97.81.221.79 02:29, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Please note that as GuildWars: Eye of the North is an expansion, and not an actual campaign, you cannot create a new character IN GW:EN. You can, however, take a pre-existing character (like your lv 13) to GW:EN and play the expansion. See the Campaign travel page for details on how to do so. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 02:53, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
Upon re-reading your question, I'd like to add that just installing GW:EN will not add it to your account. You need to locate your access key (generally inside a perforated cardboard thing, and I'm pretty sure the GW:EN ones are brownish with some gold design on it, and it is oval-shaped), login to your account, then press the Edit Account button (at the bottom of your character selection screen). You will come to a screen that looks like this. Choose "Manage Access Keys," and then add the access key that you found inside the cardboard thingy. This will grant your account access to GW:EN. I hope that helps! --Dragon Nataku talk to me 05:40, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

GW Platinum Edition

Hello I'm not sure if this isn't already answered but anyway, in 2007, i purchased Guild Wars Phophecies. About a year later, I got Guild Wars Nightfall for christmas. but i recently got as a birthday present Guild Wars Factions: Platinum Edition with has Guild Wars Phophecies and Factions in one. But I already have Guild Wars Phophecies and when i put the cd in my computer a menu pops up and it says:

  • Install Guild Wars
  • Install DirectX 9.0c
  • Install PlayNC Launcher
  • Play Cinematics
  • Guild Wars Web Site
  • Guild Wars Support Web Site

I already have Guild Wars Phophecies on my computer and just want Factions component put in. It might sound like a dumb question, but will this install it AGAIN!? Or will the program detect that Guild Wars Phophecies is already installed on this computer and won't install Phophecies but just Factions? Or can this "Platinum Edition" only install both at the same time? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.232.216.77 (talk).

The installation disk will technically only install the files you need for the games, since it should see that the gw.exe file is already there. Since you already have Guild Wars installed, you could just add the Factions account key to your account and be done with it; it'll probably need to download a bunch of files when you first start Factions, but that's about it.
Otherwise, installing from the Platinum disk shouldn't give you any problems at all, it won't mess up anything that was already there, at the very least. Your accounts are saved on Guild War's servers, not your own computer, so there's no danger of losing those. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:42, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
The Platinum Edition is a two-product-in-one bundle. You can't use just half of it. :P
Installing it over an existing account that already has either Prophecies or Factions will just enable the other one.
IIRC (and if wiki is accurate/update), you'll get the Bonus Mission Pack as well, so adding the Platinum Edition key to your existing account should be a good choice.
The game itself is already installed in your computer. Only thing that prevented you from accessing Factions was the lack of a serial key in your account (so, no, it won't re-install your game; just upgrade it with required/missing files, if any). --NIN37 08:55, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Sunspear Points problem

Hi, I have a ploblem in gaining Sunspear Points. My character is canthan, an Assassin and I need only Sunspear rank 1 so I can get Critical Agility spell from the Hero skill trainers. However I can't get any sunspear point, I see no available quests in Kamadan and the resurrection shrine holders who normally would give bounty don't give it to me - instead they just fob me off with some plant shrubbery story. Can anybody help me? Thank you very much in advance. - 80.225.178.94 18:14, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

As a Factions character there are very limited quests for you to do on Istan, there should have been one when you first arrived, you can simply follow the storyline through it and you will gain the required sunspear points. Once you complete the Consulate Docks mission, you can earn sunspear points normally from the NPC's at the shrines. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 18:25, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
The quest Wyn mentioned is called A Land of Heroes, and is a primary quest for foreign (i.e., non-Nightfall) characters. Doing this quest (kinda a mini-mission of sorts) will actually get you to around r5 or r6 Sunspear in one go, even from 0 points. Alternatively, sometimes if you go into Issnur Isles or Mehtani Keys, they might give you a bounty even if you're lv 20 (this doesn't always happen though), and they will only give you one bounty (and then never again) if they actually give you one, but it might get you to r1, depending on which bounty you get. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 20:16, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
You get 2 bounties there as a non-Elonian level 20, with less than Sunspear rank 6: Skale and Insect. Check the Issnur Isles page for bounty scout locations. A Land of Heroes can get you to Rank 6, but only if you run it several times (i.e. abandon, then retake from the guy in Champion's Dawn). 76.30.79.54 20:32, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Lockpicks and how much they are worth

I have been looking a the lockpick page. It mentions how much a lockpick is worth, 50-1250 gold. How do I know how much my lockpicks are worth? Does it depend on the chest I am opening? Can you give me a breakdown of which ones are worth how much?

Thank You, Lorraine.--63.138.247.2 13:59, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

The value table is for keys and lockpicks. All lockpicks cost 1500 gold from the merchant, but you can generally find them available for sale from players for 1250. The lower values listed are for keys that open normal mode chests throughout the game, and are only good for one use. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 14:05, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Screenshots and Templates are stored in %USERPROFILE%/Documents/GUILD WARS the Game Files are stored in <Your GW Folder here>/gw.dat. so all you would need to do is backup the gw.dat and the Folder I gave you (just enter it in the Runbox). --SilentStorm Talk to me 00:26, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Also, all your characters information (level, armor, looks, stats, completion, etc.) as well as items and everything are all stored on the Guild Wars server. So if you want you can just format your computer without saving anything. When you re-install and log back into Guild Wars your character will still be there just as you left him/her. As SilentStorm says the only thing you have to manually save is templates, but these aren't essential. Saving the gw.dat file and replacing it after installation will mean you don't have to download all the updates and other information for a second time, it should help speed things up, but nothing other than that.- TheRave talk (talk) 06:09, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

You don't need to save your "savegame" for Guild Wars. Guild Wars, as an online game, has all data stored on servers, nothing except from graphics etc. are stored on your computer. All character data is safe, whatever you do with your computer. All you need to do is to remember your account name and your password. Then, on your new installed computer, you just need to install Guild Wars again and then you can log in with you account data. You will need to download a lot of data then, so if you like to save time, you can just copy your Guild Wars directory and put it back on your computer later when everything is working. That way, you don't need to download all the things again.
However, of course you don't need to do that, as long as you have your account data, you need no more things to play Guild Wars. poke | talk 22:26, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
And, as said before (check two question above this one), you could also want to save your templates & screenshots (though they're not really needed to play Guild Wars).
BTW, since you said you're running Windows XP, your Guild Wars folder would probably be found at "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\"; you could simply copy that entire folder (either to another HD or burn it to a DVD) and reuse that data later.
But make sure you can remember your username/password (write it down somewhere) so you can use your account after reinstalling. --NIN37 22:41, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
