Passage Scroll

Do I need a Passage Scroll to join a party to enter Fissure if Woe or does only the party leader pay? Jay

Anyone in your party can use the scroll, then everyone in your party is moved to FoW, or you can just pay 1k to the avatar and your entire party gets moved there.--NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon6.png 12:32, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Only one person needs to pay, or use a scroll. It doesn't need to be the leader. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 13:25, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Getting no more Skill points

I hit level 20 and more a while back. I now have, according to the Hero-pane ('H') 24 unspent skillpoints. When I go to my powers ('K') I have 0 unspeant points. I would discount this as some sort of glitch on my end, but my friend has the exact same problem. How can I get access to the points I am entitled to spend?

you're talking about 2 different things Skill Points and attribute points. Skill points are to BUY skills or consumables , attribution points are to raise the level of your skills watch here for more information --Dragon7 cape emblem.pngThe Holy Dragons 13:41, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Paragon Armor

I was wondering why Paragon's armor is as high as an 80. How come it has so much armor and Warrior's don't have as much? Please answer I'm very curious to know about this. 99.252.163.223 15:00, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Warriors armour is 80 also, what do you mean?. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon6.png 15:01, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Additionally, Warriors have an extra 20 armor bonus vs Physical damage. Paragon armor gives 10 extra energy instead. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 15:27, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
On top of that, Paragons typically use Aggressive Refrain or Soldier's Fury as an IAS, which drops their armor by 20. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 20:20, 11 Jan 2011 (UTC)

Cannot dedicate spear; wat do?

Hello, I just bought the Oppressor's Spear on one of my rangers to give to another character. It is uncustomized and nothing on it just as I bought it. When the other character got it and went to HOM it would not let me add it. The only other oppressor's weapon in my hom is a bow. Is this a glitch or do I have to dedicate it on my original character who would have no use for the spear? Since It was uncustomized I thought I could give it to my other char like I did with destoryer weapons. 69.73.94.117 03:28, 12 January 2011 (UTC) Pikaley

Unrecoverable Graphics Error

I have a new HP Pavilion Slimline i just got last year. The Graphics card is above adequate to play, and ever since I downloaded the game (quite a long while ago) I have been able to play. Yesterday the game suddenly crashed saying it had an unrecoverable graphics error and gave a link to the official GW website, which instructed me to re-install my graphics card. This did not solve the issue. I then Re-installed GW which also did not help. I then un-installed completely and installed again. I also reset my computer after each attempt. This still failed to help. When I came home the next day I was able to play until it crashed again. I have never had this issue before. Is there any solution?

It's possible your graphics card is broken. What's your card model exactly? Do you see any graphical artefacting during the game? (Wrong textures, model triangles in the wrong place) Do you have any similar problems in any other 3D games? Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 13:20, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
all i have noticed is that my background occasionally flashes through and i see certain small "snapshots" of the screen (such as of my character running etc.) in the few seconds of blackscreen after loading an area. my graphics card is "Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family"
Intel graphics cards are not supported by ArenaNet. --Silver Edge 22:52, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
If you have a new machine that has been running GW for months or longer, it's unlikely that anything has changed to your software (game or OS) to cause it to suddenly stop working. That leaves hardware issues. There are a couple of easy things to try:
  • No re-seat the gfx card (you've tried that)
  • Question Mark.png re-seat your monitor cables (better: borrow someone else's cables) — I've solved a lot of issues for friends using this.
  • Question Mark.png clean the gfx card — use compressed air to blow away dust from the card and/or its cooling system (e.g. fan). This shouldn't work, but sometimes does.
  • Question Mark.png test your gfx card using a utility (e.g. from download.com) or another game. This won't resolve the issue, but can help confirm if it's your hardware.
On the other hand, as Poki sez, your gfx card might be toast. Do you remember what you are doing when the game crashes? e.g. where you are? what is going on in the fight? EotN dungeons are harder on borderline gfx cards than other areas whereas pre-Searing should be peachy for everyone except prize-winning hogs. Good luck.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:21, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Hall of Monuments and Rewards calculator

I have beaten guild wars EotN. I have displayed 3 companions and the Black Moa bird to my Fellowship section in the Hall of Monuments. However, I now have the Imperial Pheonix as a companion and I am not allowed the option to add a statue of it to the Fellowship section of the Hall of monuments. And to make my confusion greater, when I go to the Guild Wars 2 Rewards Calculator, none of the last 5 statues I have added show up on the Calculator. Is there some kind of glitch in the system that is not allowing any more points for any new accomplishments met?--98.87.60.33 02:03, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

First, make sure that you're in character mode while in your HoM. It shouldn't matter in this case, though strange things have happened. Second, make sure that your Phoenix is at level 20 and evolved. Also make sure that you're not confusing it with the Rainbow Phoenix, which only counts towards an Animal companion statue, not its own special statue. Finally, there is a delay between you adding a new statue in your hall and it appearing in the HoM calculator. Make sure you fully sign out of your account when you go to check your calculator if you want to see a recent addition. G R E E N E R 02:12, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
I've not had any trouble since the calculator's release; the code seems to be perfectly stable and solid. First, what Greener said. Second: saved URLs from the calculator show your HoM score at the time you grabbed the URL; in order to see newly added points, you have to resubmit a toon name.
I've spoken with a couple of people who believed they encountered a bug/glitch/etc, but in each case, it turned out to be a misunderstanding that was resolved by trying one of the ideas above or going back to the particular monument's page and re-reading the gory details. Good luck and let us know whether/how things resolve for you.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:21, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

I have tried all those things. I was actually talking to another player and he checked it with his my character name, and it was showing him 16/50 points. But each time I look it only shows 14/50 points. My Zhed and my Black Moa are showing when he checks it from his computer, but on my computer those two are not showing as acheived on the calculator. Think if I delete my cookies and reopen the page it may work? Im gonna try that.--98.87.60.33 05:33, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

You need to enter your character name to the text box and click the double arrow button for you to get a new URL reflecting your current HoM status. The information in the URL is not your character or account name, but rather represents a specific HoM completion state. Visiting an old URL will only show you the old HoM completion (at the time the URL was created). --StealthDevil 05:47, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

I really wished I understood all that about URLs. All I know is when I type in Flick of Shady Vale, I get 14/50. If I type in Garnet Ohmsford, I get 16/50.--98.87.60.33 23:53, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

I had the same with my characters (Icesheet/Noryaga) One was at 26 and the other 27 at one point. Just give it a day or something and it should work itself out. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon6.png 00:02, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
As Stealth Devil tried to point out, it's probably not the calculator which is having the problem, but instead it is likely a quirk with the browser you're using (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome etc.) Your browser is likely saving what it saw last when you typed in "Flick of Shady Vale", and is showing you the same answer each time. Your account, according to the calculator, is at 16 points, so you don't need to worry about too much. To fix this, you can clear the cookies in your browser (done differently for each type). G R E E N E R 00:19, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Check again. I get the same score typing in the two toon names you have listed. It's probably your browser cache; "you may have to bypass your browser's cache to see the changes. Mozilla / Firefox / Safari: hold Shift while clicking Reload, or press either Ctrl-F5 or Ctrl-R (Command-R on a Macintosh); Konqueror: click Reload or press F5; Opera: clear the cache in Tools → Preferences; Internet Explorer: hold Ctrl while clicking Refresh, or press Ctrl-F5."  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:07, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

well, I deleted all cookies and history and tried it again. still the same thing. But im not worried about it since it shows up on my other toon. So I am good I guess. Thanks all for the help--98.87.60.33 03:41, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Concerning the term "bot"

Can someone explain to me what a bot is? I have heard this term used once or twice, and when I go to my Guilds website, listed next to my characters name it looks like this

[bot] can you tell me what this means? And what I should do about it?99.177.254.78 21:44, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Bots are basically when a player has his/her computer take control of the actions in game. The programs can control anything from targeting, activating skills, moving, picking up objects and so on. Using your computer in this manner is against the EULA, and is a bannable offence. Some details can be found at Bot Ban Details and Account Security.
As to why your guild's website has that beside your name, I would take that up with whomever manages that site. G R E E N E R 22:01, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
I'm with Greener. I'd wager that it's just a low level forum title based on the number of posts you have there. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 22:07, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Abandoning The War in Kryta

I know this may sound silly but I accepted the War in Kryta quest and now I can't get out of it. My CPU is not strong enough to play EotN yet but I was wondering if it's possible to abbandon this quest? I know it says it must be completed but I can't run EotN decently to do this quest is there another way around it?

Thanks. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.242.110.165 (talk).

The quest was added as a way to simplify and expedite the War in Kryta story so that players could progress to further portions of Guild Wars Beyond. To this end, the developers had to make some sacrifices, one of which seems to be that this quest cannot be abandoned. My guess is they did this so as to not "lose" people at odd portions of the story, paralleling the use of city gates in Factions, and how towns change into mission outposts in Nightfall.
I do not think that there is going to be a way to remove this quest, and getting support for a below-req. computer doesn't seem too promising. One option is to complete the game on a stronger computer, such as at a friend's house. G R E E N E R 06:55, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Similarly to the EotN main quests it cannot be abandoned, but the actual quest does nothing that wouldn't otherwise happen. It's just there to help you keep track of the new content, and the worst it does it take up space in your questlog. That said, after finishing Prophecies some changes occur in Kryta and if you don't want that, then unfortunately you have to finish the War in Kryta someday. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 14:09, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
We can speculate about why one can't abandon The War in Kryta, but let's also remember that it's inconvenient for some players that WiK starts immediately after Prophecies ends. Still, the situation is parallel to any other storyline quest: although you can sometimes abandon a quest in the sequence, you are never able to go backwards in the storyline; there are irreversible changes to outposts, zones, and spawns.
@IP99: I'm sorry that you got stuck due to CPU issues. Aside from playing on another machine, you could also try setting all your graphical options to the minimum and buying/begging runs for eotn. Despite your computer specs, there are probably some areas you can get into anyhow (especially reducing effects), including most outposts. Good luck.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:32, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

First, I'm very sorry that someone is spoiling what is supposed to be a fun hobby.
You haven't explained what he is doing that is ruining your guild & alliance. If he's a member, he can be kicked; if he's an officer, the Guild Leader can kick him. Leaders and officers can also post a status message warning other officers not to invite him (or his aliases) to the guild. You will have to coordinate with the other guilds in the alliance.
You can also contact Support to report him for any EULA violations. If multiple officers in your guild/alliance do this (and the complaints are legitimate), ANet has been known to suspend people for misbehavior.
If he's simply being a jerk, your best bet is to ignore him; the only way to discourage an attention seeker is by not paying them attention.
Good luck.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:42, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
If you want to know if he's on another character and trying to get into your guild again, then you can do something a little crazy and add him to your friends list. If he switches to another character, you can double check that via the friends list (or just have everyone add those accounts to the ignore list). That said, I'd write to support and give them screenshots of the chat log where he's being abusive. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 06:52, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

3 Shining Blade Wanted wont show in Lions Arch Keep

I have been in Lion's Arch Keep, and have even killed a few of the regular wanted, but the 3 that are required for Riverside Assassination (Inquisitor Bauer, Inquisitor Lashona, and Inquisitor Lovisa) never show up. Is there a reason why? Where would they be? Thanks in advance! The preceding unsigned comment was added by Psplitt (talk • contribs) at 07:06, 26 January 2011 (UTC).

Information for the over arching quest can be found at The War in Kryta, which also has a lengthy talk page. The Lashona, Bauer, and Lovisa are acquired at the same place as the other Wanted quests, but you can only hold up to three of these quests in your log at a time. Make sure you clear/compete the other Wanted quests so you have room in your log. G R E E N E R 18:48, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Did you start WiK before Hearts of the North was introduced? Some players reported issues if they had unlocked the Keep but hadn't completed Riverside Assassination yet. Try visiting Murro in Lion's Arch proper (he's located near the steps to the skill trainer, opposite lower storage); taking the official umbrella quest seems to resolve all associated issues (although, in some cases, you might have to repeat a few steps).
Good luck and please let us know how things turn out.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:16, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Mini pets

Does double Mini pets of the same type count as one, or more in the reward calculator? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.84.72.180 (talk).

Miniatures are "unlocked" at the "Devotion" monument in the same manner as heroes and armor. While different characters can put the same mini into their respective HoMs, the HoM calculator looks at the account and would count a duplicate unlock as a single unlock. In your trial version, you had to create an account (using your email as your account name, a password, and a character name). If you wish to purchase the game and use the same account (same characters etc.), just sign-in to your trial account, and on the character screen there should be a button that lets you add/manage your account keys (lower left corner). Add the keys that you got with your purchased Guild Wars, and welcome to the game!
Feel free to write back here if there is a problem. G R E E N E R 09:37, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
One thing to note is that the Trial is for the original Prophecies campaign, so you need to buy the original Guild Wars, or a bundle that includes that. If you buy just the 2nd campaign Factions for instance, you won't be able to play your old character, though he'll still be there, just locked. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 13:08, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
