Celestial tiger[edit]
No comments!? Mini celestial Tiger People! --Neil2250 09:11, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- and that's awesome! Also, why do you think they said "summon" up a view of the mystery prize? Suspicious? you bet I am! -173.150.249.144 09:38, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- So we don't have to farm tokens like crazy for the year's Celestial Miniature anymore? Nice. :D I'm personally betting that the special item will be a Summoning Stone of some kind. I'd like to hope for an Everlasting Mysterious Summoning Stone, but that would just crash the prices for normal Summoning Stones even more than they are now. - Zaxares 09:42, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- Who knows what they are going to do? Guess we wait and see. -- Wyn talk 15:51, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

- Wake me up in two years when the model for the miniature will actually be worth the stacks of ectos they go for. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 20:57, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

- thats coz that 1s not like the others because u needed 5 normal pig minis to get it :P --Nick123 22:49, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know where you get your numbers, but the only undedicated celestial pig that has any bids at all on Guru Auctions is going for 135e if you value ecto at 6k (which I believe is or is close to the current exchange rate). Sure there are other people asking more, but I would seriously have to question the sanity of anyone paying it. -- Wyn talk 23:12, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- I get my numbers from sitting in kama for so long and Wyn stated the going rate for a celestial anything is about 70k. Which obviously is incorrect.BTW ecto is at more like 7.5k--SirBoss 16:04, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

I love my tiger, it rocks. Best celestial mini yet imo. :3 85.19.140.9 09:36, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm annoyed. Last year I had 3 Factions characters. All 3 got the ox, just doing the quests. This year I had to do all the quests on 8 characters (4 Factions) and just Nightfall on my 3 Nightfall characters that don't have the monastery just to get 2 tigers. Ramei Arashi 16:25, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Just out of curiosity, roughly how many fortunes was that? I've gone through a couple of hundred and still no tiger. Sigh. --DryHumour 17:26, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Kind of the same question here... is it really a random drop not dependant on anything? I went through over 200 with no tiger, yet my guild leader got 3 tigers with less than 200... oh well... lucky he gave me one :) --Nekki 15:20, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Facts or qualified guesses?[edit]
I hate to be a spoil sport, but shouldn't we just list things that are confirmed and known facts? It is most likely that the chefs will be collecting the same ingredients as previous years (and I already have all my guildies scooting around the lands of Tyria farming the stuff), but we don't know it for a fact and they could have changed it. Also, we don't know if we will get a lunar token for each prepared dish, and so forth. Shouldn't we at least tell what part of the article is a qualified guess based on empiric data? Colors Issue[edit]

Date formatting[edit]
As with the Wintersday 2009 Redux page, I find the current formatting of the date in the table less clear (or even more confusing) than the linked format. The latter has some consistency with wiki timestamps (which is why I specifically chose it), and it's also cleaner without the sup "th"'s. I also find it odd to have the time after the date, and to have it in the order day name, month day number, year, time. -- pling 19:02, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not fond of the sups, but when I changed it on the Wintersday page it just got changed back again. -- Wyn talk 21:26, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- The format on the Redux page has been kept, so I made the same change here. -- pling 19:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
we wud liek to summun[edit]
"We'd like to summon a description of this gift for you—but then it wouldn't be a mystery, would it?"
First of all, are we not getting a hat this year? Is the Lion Mask going to be the CNY hat for every year? Is this year's hat being replaced by our "mysterious" reward?
Second, who's thinking the mystery reward will have something to do with summoning due to their not-so-clever phrasing. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 20:55, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- I would guess we are going to get the lion mask since it's traditional for Chinese New Year. -- Wyn talk 21:25, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- The wording does make you think. It'd be great if we could get a summoning stone that works like the Igneous Summoning Stone but for level 20s. Somehow though, I feel like it's just going to be the same old CNY it is each year. Pariahtalk 00:38, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

- QUOTE FROM GW WEBSITE
- Special Rewards
- In addition to the items mentioned above, lucky players may find one of the rare Celestial Tiger miniatures hidden inside a Lunar Fortune! Carry the divine beast's luck with you throughout the year!
- If that's not enough to entice you, don't forget that if the Celestial Tiger fully enjoys its meal, all those attending the feast receive two exciting treats: the explosively entertaining Crate of Fireworks, and a special mystery reward! We'd like to summon a description of this gift for you—but then it wouldn't be a mystery, would it?
- I'm gonna go ahead and guess that it's going to be some one-use summoning stone that summons either the green lion thing or the celestial tiger thing. I doubt seriously anet would give us anything like the Igneous Summoning stone without making us pay for it. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 18:44, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

- Best possibilities for Mystery Reward: Summoning Stone, Tonic, Hat, probably in that order but what if it's all 3 or even 2/3? That would rock. --Skekzyz 23:12, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

- I hope it's not going to be a summoning stone. We have the Nick ones, the Dhuum ones, the (overpriced) Lux/Kurz ones, MOX ones etc. I feel like we already have too many, but yes, I think that we may be talking here about a new summoning stone. Markus Clouser 11:33, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Sponsoring Districts[edit]
Are there any guilds planning on publicly sponsoring districts this year? If so, maybe we should add a section to show this. --MrKGado 16:23, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- yer kiss is doing i think 2-4 districts :) --Nick123 17:07, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- I know the alliance I'm in is planning on sponsoring a district. Have yet to decide on which one until the districts are properly created. If you're looking for a sponsored district, the best chance is to just ask when you pop into a random district. Chances are there will be a handful that's going to be sponsoring it. — Sixshot 06:29, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- the Groovy Ghoulies Guild are planing to be sponsoring district 9 we will be there for all 8 times that the tiger comes.--Thedreadlordpie 17:51, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Spiders Lair Guild Kurz has obtained all the items so I assume they're "sponsoring" one. I haven't been online enough to discuss it with the guildies. --Kyoshi (Talk) 18:02, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Noble Honor Alliance will be sponsoring a district as well. Agree w/previous poster that best way to find a sponsored district will be ask when you land. - Ninjatek, when a guild/alliance sponsors the district, they provide all the feast ingredients so you get the maximum reward. It doesn't mean you can't also turn in your ingredients for tokens, it just makes it easy for their members to afk on rings, and helps those people who are unable to get all the ingredients themselves (they don't have all the campaigns, etc). -- Wyn talk 18:07, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Hat Speculation[edit]
Anyone else think we need a Tiger Mask this year? ^^, --LazloW talk 11:08, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- tbh they have used the same old lion mask every year so i highly doubt that they are going to bother doing any new masks now and with most of their effort being put into gw2, they really haven't got the time of design a new hat, that's why im guessing that their going to have a summoning stone instead as they've already got the textures and meshes that they would need, all they would have to do is make up another build and code it the same way that they've done for the other stones and with their lack of subtlety on describing the mystery item there's nothing to convince me otherwise --Azreal of Skyrim 15:01, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- A summoning stone in place of a festival mask? What?
- Also,
they've changed the mask before, andthey have time to make two new hats for every other festival.Dragon andLion masks are pretty traditional in Chinese New Year celebrations, whereas I'm not sure Tiger would be as true to the festival's real-life counterpart. They also have the same textures, plus the coding, for the Lion mask, so that'd be even easier than a summoning stone. --Kyoshi (Talk) 18:13, 10 February 2010 (UTC)- err dragon mask is for teh dragon festivla and lion mask for cny 127.0.0.1 18:14, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

costume?[edit]
Is there seriously no one who has brought up the idea of an in-game reward costume piece??? Well, suppose I could bring it up...--Markisbeest 12:32, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- People have, but you don't really expect Anet to give a new Costume for free after you've had to buy the Wintersday pair for real money, do you? -- Arduin 12:37, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- If you read the costume FAQs, it specifically states "Q: Can I get a costume headpiece from a festival or in any other way? A: No. In order to get a costume headpiece, you must buy the costume". Then again, it does say "headpiece"...~Celestia 13:06, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- And yet, all festival headgear goes in the costume slot now. Maybe the FAQ was referring to the Dwayna and Grenth outfits, confirming that those costumes and future purchasable costumes cannot be earnt through in-game accomplishments. -- Dashface 13:19, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Come on think in Anet perspective, lets make an extra costume slot for something you only can buy and really 98% of GW wont ever, ever, ever buy...--Markisbeest 14:04, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Anet earns more money as a business by selling those Costumes to that 2% of the playerbase than by giving them away for free ingame to everyone. Especially when more events will get their Costume. And I think that 2% is a very low estimate just counting who has and who hasn't bought the set in my alliance. -- Arduin 18:06, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- When I clicked on the costume maker it listed my Grenth's Regalia, my Dwayna's Regalia and then "One of my other costumes, please", applying that that there will be others. Ramei Arashi 16:44, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Preparing the Dishes[edit]
Can it be done by one person, if he/she has all 22 of the ingredients? How much time will there be available to prepare the dishes when the creature comes? -- Large 16:38, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, one person can turn in everything with plenty of time to spare. 24.197.253.243 18:13, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- The trouble is that the one person will have to stay awake the whole event :p (Like I am!)DBZVelena | (Talk page) 04:22, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

- Did the same. Felt a bit like a gaming maniac though. All in all, it was worth seeing everyone in the district pleased and happy! A person can give all the ingredients, there's a little break after 5 minutes and then the chefs ask for the last items. Sugar Rush helps a bit. Markus Clouser 09:02, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

- Theres a bug apparently, i was standing in the nine rings, i did got 5 celestial stones, 12 bags, 0 crates and the lion mask, this happened on my 2 accounts both standing in nine rings together, 2nd occurence in eed2, on first occurence i was near the chefs and got 5 stones, 16 bags and 5 crates (like its suppose to be). --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.224.68.40 (talk).
- Checked with a guildie and he got his fireworks in 9 rings. Markus Clouser 13:20, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the input. Since I'm going to have to be afk in the next finale, I'll see how it goes and post the results here. Idmz 13:57, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- So yes, I was in the nine rings in a sponsored district and got every item as planned including the lion mask. Idmz 14:22, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I was afk in nine rings during the last finale. After i got back 50 minutes after the finale and went back inside monastery, the finale dialogue starts appearing. But i got all the items as they should :S - J.P.Talk 17:54, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- After the bug i had to go afk for a while, when i came back to the game, the 2 accounts didnt got the same ammounts of rewards, i dont know what Anet will do about it, but its not working properly --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.224.68.40 (talk).
- I have received all items in different districts across 4 accounts each and every time while participating in Nine Rings. Unfortunately, I don't think ANET will replace your lost fireworks. :\ -Ninjatek 22:59, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I honnestly dont care, i know they are lost, im more interrested in seeing if im alone getting that bug.... and if they are even going to inspect the issue at all, ive moved my second account near the chefs, ive just noticed the team dialogues from chefs ect... are not on the account standing in rings, yet the timer is shown. On last occurence (just now) i did got full rewards for boths, so this is not something happening regulary but at random pace. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.224.68.40 (talk).
- Hello, I don't think it's a bug, if you look at the reward table on the page, you'll see if you get 12 bags, it means there where only 4 dishes prepared, but you should have got only 4 stones, not 5. Today (15th) at 2a.m. GMT, I was on a sponsored district and aparently there was a dish missing, maybe they forgot, so I got 12 bags, 4 stones, and 0 crates. I forgot to say that we get the rewards even if you are on the rings. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.155.94.125 (talk).
- Lets say theres magically 1 extra stone, how do you explain that hours latter, i had different ammounts of rewards between my 2 characters while they was both in same rings, at that point i didnt felt necessary to note everything, obviously something went wrong, since that im near chefs and getting identical ammounts. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.224.68.40 (talk).
- Maybe you already had one stone, and you din't noticed it. Either way, this last finale I know that I was on the rings and I won what my district was suposed to win. Keep in mind that some people sponsoring districts may fail, like it happened to me once. They are human after all. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.155.94.125 (talk).

Reattempting connection to the server (code=50).[edit]
The last two 2010 Canthan New Year's Festival Finales have not let me in! Either mapping to or entering portal. I can switch characters and go to other outposts/towns but Shing Jea Monastery gives me this code... I have three different accounts and all of them give the same error when attempting to enter. I am SURE I am not the only one this is happening to and I cannot believe (only weeks after the Wintersday fiasco) that this is happening again!
- I was getting 50s as well but found that it seemed to sort itself out if I chose a specific region (although I did switch back and forth between AD and ID, so that might also have something to do with it). --DryHumour 02:27, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't have a problem at the first wintersday, but now I can not log into my dervish, who is currently in Kamadan. However, @Wintersday I was on my laptop, and now I am on my desktop, so the problem might happen for certain comps or OS's. We need a fix and an Error 050 FTW userbox! --Elven Chaos 02:40, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- It definately was not an issue with my laptop. I have 6 different systems / OSs and tried two at that time. As I stated, it was ONLY attempting to get into the Monastery for the finale. Once the finale was over I was able to enter. I also tried different areas and was able to go with no issues. Dead Monk Walkin I 13:14, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

- OMG. I got the "Code=50" error earlier when I was trying to go to Shing Jea after a finale was started, but what just happened really ticks me off! I was standing in a town, 10 minutes into the finale, all the dishes were prepared and they were about to give us the gifts, when I was disconnected from the server. I could not reconnect either. Apparently there is a limit to how many finales I'm allowed to attend now? Hmm.. FloppyJoe 05:16, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Just bad luck, I'm afraid. I've been to all eight so far. --DryHumour 05:27, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Wow! I logged in today and I had the gifts and everything that I thought I lost during that disconnect. Awesome! Still, I missed the first two finales because it disconnected me while I was afk, and I missed one later due to the Code=50 error. I also didn't go to the last one, but I just didn't feel like staying up for it. Oh well, I'm happy I still got my gifts that I thought I had lost! :) FloppyJoe 21:26, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

- i got the same issue when trying to zone back in from trying to open my Fortunes out in explorable. after a few minutes, "they" let me in. the weird thing is, i was able to talk to my guildie (ok, he's my cousin and part of our two-man-only guild lol) the whole time. Later I was AFK for the second to last event, came back about an hour after the event, only to find out that I d/c'ed. Grrr, that was frustrating. I popped in here in the comments section to see if anyone had been having the same issue with d/c's. 114.157.160.88 06:21, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Ryoko
- The chatting/friends stuff is handled by different servers. It's also possible to be able to play but not be able to chat. 99.195.135.109 09:39, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Interesting, never knew that. By the way, having more 050 problems. Was able to log in, but now at the character select screen, i can't jump into the game. says, "Guild Wars was unable to complete the operation. Please try again in a few minutes. (Code=050)" ...and i have been trying for SEVERAL minutes. sure would like to pop in and give it a few more tries to get the mini tiger!114.157.160.88 10:08, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Ryoko
