Day of the Tengu

do we really want day of the tengu on here? the nav has up to now been used for annual events. the day of the tengu event will never occur again. --VVong|BA 00:39, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't know. Where there enough significant things associated with these events (special quests, new NPCs, new collectables, hats, etc) that they would merit inclusion in the template? -- Hong 01:27, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Halloween 2008 Redux

As said in my comment to this change, a statement from Martin Kerstein was made in the forum of the (German) Elite-fansite Guild-Wars.info here:

Das Live Team hat beschlossen, den Großteil des Halloween Events an diesem Wochenende erneut zu veranstalten, es werden die Halloween Gegenstände droppen, die Sammler schieben Überstunden, und ihr könnt euch erneut beim Maskenknall austoben.

(translated:)The live team decided to hold the Halloween Event in a large part again on this weekend, there will drop Halloween items, collectors will work overtime and you will be able to play the Costume Brawl.

Well, there was a Redux for the Dragon Festival 2007 and it's in the same line with the "normal" events, so I think we should do it here the same way. BigBluetalk 16:20, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Wintersday in July

This event was in 2008 and 2009, so I think we can expect it will happen every year from now. So why don't we revert Zora's revert and add a row to this template? BigBluetalk 14:22, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

one of the reasons it didn't get it's own link earlier was that it wasn't a very "rich" event. it only included snowball arena and some drops in pve, so it was a bit like easter or st. patrick's day. i don't care much either way, but just saying. --VVong|BA 22:28, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Parallel arrangement?

There are 3 types of holidays listed in the template, but each type is not arranged similarly:

• Major events, which usually have some differences from year to year (usually costumes, but also glitches and new quests).
• Medium events, which are largely the same from year to year.
• One-time events, which, well, occur once.

Obviously, we want to make it easy to find the individual years when they have evolved significantly over the years (Canthan New Year, Wintersday, Halloween). On the other hand, it seems overkill for the minor holidays (TLAP, Wintersday in July, ...). Why not just a single section for those lesser events?

Also, as noted elsewhere, we seems to be missing a couple of holidays from the schedule. What about this formulation?

This gives greater wiki weight to the major holidays, de-emphasizes the minor ones, lists all events that are in Category:Special events, and relegates the redux events to footnotes.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:57, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Currently, the Template:Special events nav divides events as those with minigames/events/prizes/quests/etc., and those that only offer unique drops. --Falconeye 20:46, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

I wrote that comment 18 months ago, when the template put the annual TLaP in the same row as the one-time events. The current template follows the division suggested (but not the visual line up by year). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:28, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
