Source of Gaile Logs
fyi, I reverted your edit which was to add a "source" link to the Gaile Log page. Gaile posted that in a number of places, including the one you linked to, including this site. Since she was the original source of the information here the external link was unnecessary. Lojiin 11:26, 13 February 2007 (PST)
- Ok, no problem :) But what about the posting date? I think we should add that, if we want to collect more logs.. Poke 11:56, 13 February 2007 (PST)

I know this isn't some kind of a guestbook, but I just had to say it... I like your userpage. the colors, the style, the sidepage information. they're all great. I'll have to yoink some ideas off of your page, if you don't mind. ;) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Zemmy .

Eu userbox
Poke, you're using a userbox for Europe, I just wanted to let you know that the following userbox exists: {{User Eu}}. Currently your userbox refers to an inferior picture of the European flag. The Eu-userbox uses a new one, perhaps you might consider changing yours? I have marked Image:Europe_60x40.jpg for deletion, but your userpages link to it. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 10:05, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
NPC articles
First of all, nicely done with the boss articles, they're looking good! :) Secondly, thought I should let you know about {{NPC location}}. If you wrap the locations of each NPC with that, it'll also autocategorise the NPC by location. For example, for the Ranger's Construct page, it'd be something like this:
== Locations == * [[Kaineng City]] ** {{NPC location|Sunjiang District}} ** {{NPC location|Sunjiang District|explorable area}}
Which would result in:
== Locations == * [[Kaineng City]] ** [[Sunjiang District]] ** [[Sunjiang District (explorable area)]] [[Category:Sunjiang District NPCs]]
(It'll only show one category in this particular example, because it was decided to have mission and explorable NPCs in the same category; the template will take care of that though, so don't worry about it too much.) Anyways, hope that makes sense. Cheers! --Dirigible 20:06, 4 May 2007 (EDT)

Campaign Categories
Hej Poke! I changed the "Category:User Campaign x" names due to them not being in the same style as other user categories (the categories were also "orphan", ie they could not be reached through the "Category:User" hierarchy). I also changed the corresponding userboxes to make sure everyone get grouped in the right place. But, I see you have manually written in the categories. If you want to, you can change the categories into "Category:Users who play the Factions campaign", "Category:Users who play the Nightfall campaign" and "Category:Users who play the Prophecies campaign" respectively to get listed with "everyone else".--Lensor 17:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
User talk:Poke/German translation task force
--BigBlue talk 14:14, 7 June 2007 (UTC) In english: I think we should accentuate, that crossing things out would be a great help. Searching for all changed things after an update (e.g. Rock Ice and dialog text with misspelling of one word or one letter) would be too much work for a 2 man project (as it currently is). That's why I think we should ask for this (maybe great demand), to get at least a little response (=help) for everything we proposed. I request you for changing your answer / mind in this question, please. :) --BigBlue talk 17:37, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- I will not change my comment on this. In my opinion we cannot demand for telling us which changes were exactly done. If they do so it's nice but if not we cannot force them to do. Apart from this I will not look every time for updates on translation. When I coincidentally notice any change on something we logged, I will strike it out but I will not look for it. This is my opinion and apart from that I'm totally against changing anything in a talk page (apart from spelling mistakes etc.) poke | talk 17:26, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

you told me to use the character info box but i dont really get it can you help me out Priestess donut 21:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- The Character info box is not compatible to the NPC Infobox so you have to rework the parameters. For your character User:Priestess donut/pvt donut the third it would be the following code (for example):
{{Character infobox | name = Pvt Donut The Third | prof = W | gender = male | born = Tyria | level = 20 }}
- Note: you will have to reupload the character images in another name. To see the required name just put the infobox on your page and click the red image link. poke | talk 22:06, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

That page lists all of the bot operators (Mike, Diri, and myself) and their bot accounts - technically, AWB doesn't count =) MisterPepe talk 23:33, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Watchlist
Hey poke, you seem to be very handy with JS. There seems to be a way to categorize the Watchlist using JS (see this and this). - Ah, when you use "Enhanced recent changes", the lists were modified to a list which does not consists of a html unordered list (
<ul><li></li></ul>
). But because Dirigible's script reads out each list item (li) and changes just the position of them and because there are no list items there is nothing modified. poke | talk 18:31, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

just a note
While the language used is being debated right now, GWW:SIGN does mention that sig images should be named according to the user image naming scheme. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 21:18, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- I know but maybe there will be something added in (near) future. Also it's not wrong to upload it with user image naming. See also his talk page regarding this. poke | talk 21:21, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think you misread what I wrote. GWW:SIGN does, not doesn't, it does mention that they should be named as user images. See the last bullet point in GWW:SIGN#Images. :) (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 21:22, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Uah o.O You're right. I think I was a bit confused because of this bot request and "there's no policy that says you need the User prefix for signature images" this - but obviously this is outdated ^^ poke | talk 21:27, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- I made that comment on June 10th, while GWW:SIGN was edited on July 1st by Gem to include that requirement, so yeah, the comment is somewhat outdated. Still, it's to be noted that there is no requirement for the word "User" to be part of the filename, as also noted by Gem in the summary of that edit, the concerned line is "The image file should be named Image:User <user name> sig.<file extension>". It's also to be noted that this change was added to the policy unilaterally by Gem, with no previous discussion that I can see, which is one more reason not to make to big a deal out of it, but treat it just like a suggestion instead. --Dirigible 21:40, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, maybe we can have a look at it during our Policy cleanups? But anyway it makes sense to upload them with user image naming as its an image used by just one user. We could use a phrase: "New uploaded signature icons should be named [...] while existing images can be left as they are." or something like this.. poke | talk 21:47, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, we've been using the User_ prefix to indicate images that are for use in the User: namespace, not for images only used by just one user, as noted in GWW:IMAGE, GWW:USER and {{user image}}. If we want to expand that requirement, it should be discussed somewhere first. --Dirigible 21:54, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, GWW:USER does use a heck of a lot of "personals" in its section about user images - which seems to imply that images tagged as such are meant to be "owned" by a given user (in the sense that other users shouldn't rely on them not changing, et cetera). We could use a phrase: "New uploaded signature icons should be named [...] while existing images can be left as they are." or something like this.. poke | talk 21:47, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Uah o.O You're right. I think I was a bit confused because of this bot request and "there's no policy that says you need the User prefix for signature images" this - but obviously this is outdated ^^ poke | talk 21:27, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think you misread what I wrote. GWW:SIGN does, not doesn't, it does mention that they should be named as user images. See the last bullet point in GWW:SIGN#Images. :) (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 21:22, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Celestial Summoning

Hello poke.
Sorry for the misplaced name of my guild but when I wanted to change the cape design it wasn't possible to replace it, it kept the same cape. We now have got a new one and I know how to edit the text I ment the cape only. I apologies for the extra work I give you.
after all I want to ask you can you please send me a direction of how to change the guildcape image ?
Thank you
Regards Dragonknight Icarus 18:47, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- No problem :) Your image for your guild is located here. If you want to change the image use the Upload a new version of this file-link. As I already said, it takes some time until the image changes because of the internal caching of MediaWiki but you don't need to upload it again, just wait. After a while you can try
CTRL + F5
to see if the image has changed (btw. on pages which use the image with a smaller size you often can see the image immediately after upload). poke | talk 19:46, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Browser used?
So, I'm guessing that you never use IE? I usually use Firefox, so when I first saw your user page in IE I thought someone had vandalized or unintentionally mangled your user page. Not sure if it's an issue to you or not ... but just as an FYI, in IE, all your user boxes are on the right on the first top half of the page, then on the lower half all of the remainder of your page is on the left. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 16:19, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Inscription restyle
I like what you've done with the restyle of the inscription article, and I wanted to check with you if I missed a policy or formatting that calls for tables to be styled in that way so that I can make a mental note for next time? -- pullus talk 16:53, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- No, there is no policy or formatting guide on how to format these pages.. But as we use the cellspacing style very often on this wiki (for example all infoboxes), I applied this style to the page. Btw. I also removed the subnotes because as I checked the inscriptions, all of them could be added thrugh the PvP weapon creation window.. poke | talk 16:56, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Javascript
Hey poke, do you have any idea how we might be able to use the images to sort the skill list tables? I think the javascript requires <thead></thead> tags for that to work, but perhaps you might have an idea on this?
I ask this because I personally don't like the way some skill lists are looking at the moment (List of enchantment spells). Only with my bookmark tab off and @ full screen (1280width at work), it is reasonable, otherwise the table is just horrible. (Really large rows due to the lengthy descriptions.) -- (CoRrRan / talk) 11:03, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Poke. we have several members who have wiki pages that are not officers. they want to know if they can have a place on the guilds home page to link to there pages.
if so what are the format rules and if not let me know so i can let them know. thanks rockweaver. Rockweaver 23:15, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- the only things your guild page must have are: guild tag, guild infobox, alliance infobox and roughly the layout from the example guild page. You can include all your members under a heading like "Members on GWW" or something. - Y0_ich_halt 23:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

What's with the new skill list format?
The old one is way better. Now everything need an extra click. Oh wait...not just "an" but several extra clicks. Lightblade 22:02, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

- I mean the new nav bar vs. the old TOC. Lightblade 23:07, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think one of the reasons we merged the skill lists is because we have lists for the separate attributes already, and no list to compare all skills for one profession. Now we cover both cases. And I don't see how it can be that many extra clicks to click on the attributes in the nav instead of the TOC. - anja 07:47, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- [[List of <Your Attribute Here> skills]] works with one click..? Also the navbar has nothing to do with this, as the lists were merged before I made that navigation.. poke | talk 09:07, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'm talking about List of <profession> skills pages. Now you need an extra click to get to all the skills in one attribute, then back, then click another attribute for all the skills. Having one huge list just doesn't does it. You'll have sort it (one click), then scroll it down (more drag and drop), and finally find the attribute that you're looking for. The last part have the most hassle. Because you have no idea which part of the list that attribute is located. Lightblade 19:38, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- Tabbed browsing + the navigation for the attributes? There is need to look through the complete list, if you want to see only skills from one attribute. The complete list is for comparison between attributes.. poke | talk 19:51, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Quest rewards
Hey poke, have a look here. Can you streamline it perhaps, I just had a brainwave for including the quest rewards in the lists. What I want, is to show "(quest)" below the skill's name in the DPL skill lists. I want to do this by doing the following:
{{#ifeq: %PAGE% = {{#dpl:title=%PAGE%|category=</nowiki>''profession''<nowiki> skill rewards}} | <br/>(quest)}}

editcopy syncing
Just a note, when syncing elements of the editcopy to the main page, it's probably best to try an resolve the differences manually rather than just copying the editcopy source to main - for instance, this sync lost a few of the links that were on the main page because someone had a suggested removing them on the editcopy, but the discussion regarding that was not really conclusive, thus that particular change shouldn't really be synced. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 20:43, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- No, I removed the links on the editcopy by myself, see this. I did this because News includes all existing news and also provides links to each detailed page.
- Also I think the editcopy is the page which should always contain the Main Page with new additions so a complete sync is always better imo. poke | talk 20:47, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Question
How do you put an image in the background, like in the skill infobox?reanor 16:53, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- This is not possible with the mediaWiki software. It automatically filters out background images; the only possibility is to add it to the css files like MediaWiki:Common.css. A workaround could be a div with
position: absolute;
and add the image to it. Then after add another div with the same size andbackground: transparent;
and it should work ;) poke | talk 17:31, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Checkmark sizes
Hey Poke, sorry I didn't reply sooner, I'm not around the wiki as much as I used to be. I was looking at the checkmark sizes after you left me that message and they're all 20x20, the ticks, the x's, the lot. I see your argument that 19 high works better for the inline text, but I also think that if you're using them in a column under Lord Biro's profession icons 20 wide is better so they center the same ... so could 20x19 work? -- pullus talk 01:49, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Edit tool customisation
Hello there. I was wondering about customising the way the edit controls work in Mediawiki, and your name was mentioned as someone who has the knowledge off-hand. I hope you will not mind the imposition...
Quoting myself from HammerWiki My question is this: I would like to change the behavior of the signature button in the edit controls to NOT put the dashdash (--) in front of the four tildes (~~~~). I'm almost sure it is possible, but I'm figuring that finding out which file to change and how to do it myself seems like a lot of trouble, so... do you know?
Either way, thanks for your time. :) --Bishop 21:43, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- in the unlike case that poke doesn't know what to do, just type the four tildes yourself. - Y0_ich_halt 21:49, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you ... However, that was not quite the point. On a keyboard like mine, typing a tilde requires no less than three key presses, each. Not exactly convenient. --Bishop 22:46, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- well, coulda said that in the first place. i've met ppl here who didn't know where the tilde button is. - Y0_ich_halt 22:48, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- You are correct, I could -- possibly should -- have been more elaborate in my question, especially since I am completely unknown on this wiki. I guess I figured the question was of a sufficiently advanced technical nature to preclude lack of such basic knowledge. --Bishop 22:54, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

function changeSignatureButton () { if ( document.location.href.indexOf( 'action=edit' ) < 0 ) return; var toolbarButtons = document.getElementById( 'toolbar' ).getElementsByTagName( 'img' ); for ( var i = 0; i < toolbarButtons.length; i++ ) { if ( toolbarButtons[i].src.indexOf( 'button_sig.png' ) > -1 ) { toolbarButtons[i].onclick = function() { insertTags( ' ~~~~', '', '' ); return false; } break; } } } hookEvent( 'load', changeSignatureButton );

- Thank you kindly, that was almost exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it didn't quite seem to work for me. You see, the monobook.js file seem to have lost its magical js property and the four tildes are expanded into my current signature as I save. In other words, I end up with an edit button that inserts the specific timestamp created when I saved the monobook file, not the current one... I'm not quite sure how to get around that. :) --Bishop 22:46, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

- Atm we are making the background work with a class="skill-box" addition to the starting line of a div, table or similar. This does no longer work for tables with the tweak. Plus, the class skill-box also contains some other properties you may not want when you only want the background. (so far we have just worked around them by specifying our own values. Last specified overrides the common css) - anja 15:26, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Back Off
Since when was it practice to move things from someone else's talk page without their permission - certainly before they have seen them? I put that on that page for a reason and it was none of your business to move it. Notice: no-where in that topic did I mention reconfirmation I was merely requesting BC judgement/action, and he is a BC so that is where I went and that topic had every right to remain where it was. You have no right to move it. 67.159.46.131 15:57, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- First, it is not the business of bcrats to review sysop's actions. This should always be done by the complete community; for that we have the reconfirmation process. As you simply copied the text without mentioning it, nobody was able to see the history of the comments as nobody knew where the comments came from. Also we don't need a right to move something to a page where the topic fits much better. Also the information is still kept because there is the move template left, so LordBiro can follow the comments easily. poke | talk 16:04, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Very nice
First off, I would like to say that you do good work here on the wiki. Whenever someone releases anything open sourced on the internet, it's bound to be tampered with or edited incorrectly (I think I'm guilty of a few counts). I was looking at your page, and I thought to myself: "Wow, that's really nice. Must have taken ages." I am looking for help on formating my User: People of Antioch page, and I am wondering if you or possibly someone else/another place you could refer me to get some kind of nice format down? Thanks for your time! :-) People of Antioch 16:26, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I think the best you can do is simply look around on some userpages until you find something you like. Then you can look at the code and try to think of a more personal style for yourself. If you have any questions about formatting or code, or you have an idea and need help with the transformation to code, feel free to ask me :) poke | talk 16:38, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
