Getting to Kourna.

Hi, sorry to bother you guys but, I've been stuck on 'Nightfall' for some time now and I know it's just got to be something simple I'm missing.

I'm currently a level 20 Necromancer and, as far as I can tell, I have completed all but, three of the quests in Istan.

I wish to travel to Kourna but, the Consulate is not open and I can't catch a boat from the Sundocks.

I have read the GWwiki section on opening the Consulate Docks and it says that you must entre during 'The Time is Nigh' but, after the mission the Consulate will be closed again and you can only access through map travel.

Well, I have completed that quest but, there is no map marker for The Consulate Docks, so I can't get there.

I'm sure I must be missing something really easy but, I've just been wandering around for ages, stuck in Istan.

Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Erm, I'm really sorry to bother you again but, I went to see him and he's just saying:

"I may not leave the Sunspear Great Hall on missions much anymore, but, those who do carry the mark of my training ... and my sandal on their back if they don't work hard."

I did abandon a quest a while ago but, it was the one where you speak to three chefs and gather ingredients for them.

Sorry about this but, it's driving me crazy.

Hey, thanks for the link. I read through each of the missions and the only ones I don't remember doing require me speaking to Jerek. Unfortunately, when I try to speak to him all he says is:

"There is more to protecting Elona than steel and spells. You've heard the saying that an army marches on it's stomach? Well, without me, you'd all stop marching."

I don't remember doing 'Trial by Fire', or entering The Tribunal but, in order to do that mission you need to speak to Jerek. I've definitely done 'The Iron Truth'.

Do you know what's wrong?

No, since we don't know exactly what you have done/not done. If you have done The Time is Nigh and spoken to Kormir in Churrhir Fields you should be able to enter the Consulate, and then be teleported to the Consulate Docks by speaking to Assistant Hahnna. You could purchase a ferry to the docks from another player, but if you have not actually completed that quest (and received the reward) the mission will be unavailable to you. -- Wyn 21:31, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

This might sound stupid, but is your necromancer a nightfall campaign character? It seems to me it would be fairly difficult to get to level 20 in just Istan without a lot of grinding, and Jerek and Castellan Puuba won't offer those quests to characters from Prophecies or Factions. Did you maybe do those quests with a different character and are just remembering it wrong? If your necromancer isn't a nightfall character, you may need to do Securing Champion's Dawn or A Land of Heroes, or maybe even Battle Preparations. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 21:50, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, my Necromancer is from 'Nightfall'. The only game I've got is 'Nightfall'. It was a slog getting to level 20 but, I've been a bit obsessed with levelling up, haha.

Listen, I'm sorry to be a total pain in the butt but, would anyone be willing to take my password and go into my account to see if they can figure out what I'm doing wrong? I'm sorry to ask but, it's driving me crazy and I'm at the point of giving up on the game altogether, which would be an awful waste.

Sorry for late reply, but I too can offer my ingame services (IGN: Zakuro Reiran, Persephone Lai, Dragon Nataku (I have three accounts, as in separate logins)). About what you mentioned previously about the three chefs thing, that's not a primary quest but it's Feast of Bokka and you can retake that one by leaving Kamadan and going into Plains of Jarin. The quest-giver is on your right. But as I said, it's not a primary and therefore not required to continue the storyline. unable to initialize 3D output

I just had windows completly wiped so I've had to re-install it. When I try to download Guild wars I get a message 'Unable to initialize 3D output. Please verify that you have installed Directx and have an updated video driver.' I have directx installed and my video driver is the same as before. I've reinstalled directx already to no change. That Window already has a shiny link at the very bottom... Just click that Link? Also GuildWars needs at least DirectX8 or even Dx9. Depending on your OS you wont have that. To find out what DirectX Version you have installed just run dxdiag. Also some other Applications using DirectX may block GW from accessing it at the same time. --SilentStorm 19:12, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

(Edit conflict) I would bet that you either didnt do it or did something wrong. However first uninstall GuildWars and then download DirectX again from Microsoft and install it using Administrative Privileages. Then Reboot your System and get the latest Drivers for your Graphics Card (ATI GreenDevil) and install them. After that Reboot your System again. Now if everything is working so far install GuildWars from scratch. If you still experience Issues go bother support with it. --SilentStorm 17:47, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Festival hat

I missed this years Canthan New Years festival hat.  :( :( Is there any way I would be able to obtain one of these? Please help, I am really disappointed because I was wanting one for my collection. A lot of the events are recycled every year. The Canthan New Year, has also had the same festival hat every year so you can get it the next time it comes around. Most the other holidays, the hats change a bit.-- anguard 00:48, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

last mission in prophecies ring of fire

ok now that gw has buffed the mission allowing burn titans or whatever they are to pull lvl18 minions out of themselves are there any suggestions on how to get through this one. it used to be tough but doable now most groups cant get much past seer at the begining of mish.just another example of how the game has been made challenging beyond doing.70.95.155.138 21:32, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you are talking about, as the Burning Titans have always spawned a Risen Ashen Hulk when killed, which in turn spawn a Hand of the Titans and a Fist of the Titans when they die. As far as I know no major change has been made to this. The secret to completing this is to kill the Sparks first, and to not over aggro, and always has been. -- Wyn 21:42, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

I think he means the Risen Ashen Hulks with Aura of the Lich. But, the minions they spawn aren't as dangerous as other foes. Typically: sparks, then fists and hands, then just try to kill one guy and his spawns before going to another. --JonTheMon 21:44, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Bonus/Hero Customized Items

Hi, I have a question how to solve problem of bonus/hero customized ites (i.e. starting hero weapons and items recieved by typing /bonus) - now they are only taking space in my inventory and I cant sold them, drop them or put them into Xunlai chest - and it is lot of items. I didnt find here or elsewhere way how to get them off me. How can that be done?

There should be a trash can icon above your inventory slots but below your character. Drag items into the trash can and click "yes" to delete them. -Auron 16:50, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

And you won't lose them permanently by deleting them. Whenever you type /bonus again, you'll get back the same set of items, except the ones your character is still using. -- ab.er.rant 03:51, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Also note that if you, say, want Wolf's Favor (one of the bonus focuses) on Dunkoro (monk hero) and Ogden Stonehealer (monk hero), you can put the Wolf's Favor on, say, Dunkoro, and then use /bonus again to create yet another one to put on Ogden. --Dragon Nataku 04:51, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

If you purchase Nightfall you will have the ability to create the Dervish and Paragon professions as well as the 6 core professions (Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Mesmer, Elementalist, Necromancer). Assigning mutliple keystrokes to an action.

Assasin Build/s

I'm interested to know if you guys can tell me of any good critical hit builds for assasins, either linked to mesmer or necro as a sec. I've looked about and just cant find what I want. I want maximum hit, with limited energy drain but with consistent recharging of energy through activity. I ask the earth but I thought I'd ask it anyway!!

Is it the Divine Aura on an elementalist that you are seeing? If so then to be able to do that you need the Guild Wars Prophecies collector's edition. Unfortunately the collector's edition isn't sold anymore.- TheRave (talk) 18:10, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

AFAIK the Prophecies collector's edition Sold Out a long time ago and they never plan to make more. I believe there are still Nightfall collector's editions available and if you're very lucky Factions collector's edition, but the Prophecies collector's edition is long gone. The Divine Aura is only available with the Prophecies collector's edition. The others just give different animations for the new classes only.- TheRave (talk) 22:45, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Cant Load Game

Perhaps you should try the -repair command line (check this page for details). If that doesn't work (it doesn't always), maybe you need to reinstall the game. You will lose nothing by doing this (except saved build templates, since everything BUT these are saved on the game's servers), but you will have to redownload all of the files and whatnot once you reinstall. Wayward Monk Quest

I have, on several occasions, taken Cynn to Iron horse Mine to find her buddy - all goes well until I pass through the Iron horse Mine portal then Cynn disappears. I return to yak's bend and she isnt there either. What am I doing wrong please. In addition after I pass through the portal the quest arrow disappears. pleaseeeeeeeee Tess

Have you read through The Wayward Monk? The only real requirements I see is that you have to be a Prophecies character and you have to have monk as either your primary or secondary profession. -- Wyn 05:46, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Help with Gwen and her flute?

I've read where her broken flute is supposed to be but when I look in the game I can't find it there. Someone said to give her red iris flowers. She takes those but nothing happens. Am I supposed to do certain quests before I can do anything with Gwen?

Are you in Pre-searing or the HOM? If pre-searing then perhaps you are above level 3 Gwen's_Flute_(quest)? If you are talking about in Hall of Monuments then you can only get the quest after The Missing Vanguard see Gwen_(Eye_of_the_North)#Quests. Fenyx 03:14, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

M.O.X gone

I just got M.O.X with my Prophecies character at Lion's Arch and after getting him and the green user manual I went back through the gate and loged off. Today I get on the game and I see the green manual and read the story...I click on enter mission but a message in red pops up and says M.O.X has to be in my party to continue. Do I not have M.O.X? He is no longer out side the gate and I have the user manual. I haven't seen him since he was out side the gate. Please help! Thank you! ~~1man4me 03:10, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Just to clarify, in order to add him to your party, look at your party menu (right side of the screen in this picture). You will see the blue Add a Hero button there. Click it, and a drop-down window opens which shows you what heroes that character of yours currently has unlocked. Click on M.O.X.'s name to add him to your party. gw keeps redownloading

ok so i keep having this problem... gw was working fine until it started "fixing data" every now and then, it dosen't bother but one time it start recovering data and then redownloading everything again! so i reinstalled windows formatted portions and installed it and downloaded all maps again and now it did same thing it started redownloading it from zero how do i fix it? why is this keep happening to me? and before it happened i got scammed... wtf? bad luck? plz help ty --X-o-b-b-i-t 14:54, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

If you've formatted and reinstalled windows then you will have to download everything again as it will have been deleted during the format. If its still having problems try running guild wars with the -repair command line argument. I have heard quite a few similar problems from people who have very fragmented drives. Your format and reinstall should fix this, but try and keep the drive with guild wars on de-fragmented. I run defrag once a month on all my drives to keep 'em tidy.- TheRave (talk) 15:07, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Can't kill Zho

I am having trouble killing Zho in the Norn tournament. I found an article that refers to a build that should help but the link does not bring me to a build. Can you give me a build that will kill Zho? My first profession is an elementalist. I am so frustrated, I want to get Zho's journal so I can work on getting a black Moa chick miniature.

Norn fighting tournament isn't PvP. Try using a farming build like this one, you almost never lose, and when zho pops up, you'll roll her. I did the NFT 12 times yesterday and had zho as an opponent at least 4 times, so she isn't a rare spawn. -Auron 01:17, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I'd suggest you to check both The Norn Fighting Tournament as well as Guide to the Norn Fighting Tournament and its talk page.

That Elementalist/Dervish build should be strong enough to keep you alive to go through the whole tournament. --NIN37 01:39, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

rubberbanding, snapshoting, lag

i dont know if there is a solution to this problem or not. it may be a server problem? as a runner rubberbanding ( after passing an agro you are still being hit and then pulled back to their position) or snapshotting (all npcs jump around on screen) sometimes being locked in place till you die and are resed again. is there some skill that may remove this as it is happening or ??? what. i have lowered my graphics as far as they can go. this has helped in the second life game i play also to cut down on lag. not sure if that helps in gw though. any ideas??70.95.155.138 20:18, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Try mouse clicking your path, that helps with the rubberbanding. Besides that all you can do is hope for a stable run. Dominator Matrix 20:20, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Your rubberbanding, snapshotting, and lag are all either server or network issues. There's nothing you can do on your end, unless you want to try switching ISPs or moving to a different area. Framerate issues happen when your graphics processing can't keep up with the animations, so it is only a factor during combat when lots of things are going on at the same time. -- ab.er.rant 06:38, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Rubberbanding is a network issue, but from my experience snapshotting can be a clientside problem too. This effect happens to me from time to time if i minimize GW for a longer period of time and when i get back to my pc and maximize GW again my heroes and henchies jump around while my character is moving smoothly as always. The effect does not go away by itself. But if i min/max GW again 1 or 2 times the problem is gone und does not come back. So it's obviously a problem that occurs when the application is restarting the graphics output. CC 09:54, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

The page on Error codes describes what each error code means. The one you are experiencing can commonly be caused by a Firewall. Make sure your firewall is allowing Guild Wars to make the required connections.- TheRave (talk) 22:15, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

no command?

Is there a way to tell the current time in-game? like perhaps a command to show the clock or something. This would really help me as I'm playing from a different timezone. Thx in advance =)

No there really is no command for telling the time in-game, but you can download X-fire. It has a clock you can put on your screen to show you the time. --Shinigami King 23:02, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Guild problems

Dear GWW, I have been running a small, and quite inactive Guild for a while, but since I knew I would be inactive for a long time due to GCSEs, realised that I should pack up the Guild so I could come back to it if I ever wanted to at a later stage (I kicked all members, with my apologies, to make sure leadership didn't change, and I left a comment explaining the situation to any enquiring ArenaNet Employee).

However, I no longer wish to own the Guild, but since I have put a lot of time and effort into it, I have considered selling the Guild Assets fo rINGAME money (ie. Gold, Ectos, etc.). Is this Legal, is it against the rules, or is it fine?

Selling any game item in game for game money is perfectly fine. There is even a specific section of http://www.guildwarsguru.com auctions that is just for selling guilds. You don't run into problems unless you are trying to sell in game stuff for real world money. -- Wyn 22:02, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Shiro's Return Completion Problem

Hello i am currently in the Luxon alliance and have completed Shiros return missions, however i cannot complete the book as i need the kurzick mission, is there anyway i can switch to do this?

Like the title says, i cannot complete the book as i have done the storyline as luxon, can i change to kurzick to complete the book? if so, how and where do i do this?

You don't even have to switch to a Kurzick guild to do that. Just take the Quest Journey to House zu Heltzer from Jamei in Maatu Keep. Then just do the following Quests and you will get to the remaining Mission. Lukasn (Talk | contribs) 22:35, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

(Edit conflict) Your alliances alligiance does not dictate which side you can travel to. You can travel to either Kurzick or Luxon side. In fact you can even gather the opposing faction points (the only difference being you can't donate them to your alliance). To do the other missions you need to talk to Jamei in Maatu Keep. She offers two quests, one for each side Journey to House zu Heltzer (for kurzick) and Journey to Cavalon for Luxon. I lost my incubator.....

Some how my incubator with out the materials inside got lost. I was hoping there was a way it could be rostored to my character. I only needed to put the ingredients in to the incubator and do the sorrows furnace quest in order to hatch it.. I still have all of the engredients. If u could help that would really help... AFAIK, once you delete your Incubator Kit, you can no longer get another one, so you can't get a Black Moa Chick with that character (You can only obtain one Incubator Kit per character means once you lose your kit, you won't be able to get another one).

You'll need to either buy the mini pet from other players or create a brand new character and do the whole cross-campaign scavenger hunt, i.e., getting Zho's Journal (Eye of the North), Sorrow's Flame (Prophecies), Incubator Kit (Factions) and Nesting Material (Nightfall). Note that these items are either customized or require your character to interact with some NPC/environment effect (you can't take someone's else Incubator Kit to Sorrow's Flame, nor trade Nesting Material, for example). --NIN37 09:52, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

abandend mission

How can I recover a mission once it has been deleted from my quest log. I was playing the game from Lion's Arch to D'Alessio Seaboard.Once I received the Mission D'Alessio Seaboard, I recall closing the dialogue screen without starting the mission because I wanted to check my inventory and store vault. Missions are unlike quests, they don't appear in your quest log. Simply go to the mission outpost and if you are leader of the party, you will have the Start mission button in your party window. -- Wyn 22:35, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
