Exhaustion

Exhaustion is a negative effect incurred by some skills. It reduces your maximum Energy by 10, and it is cumulative with prior exhaustion. Exhaustion is displayed as grey on your Energy Bar, and dissipates over time at the rate of 1 maximum energy regained every 3 seconds. Be wary when using exhaustion-causing spells, especially when you have less than 10 energy, as exhaustion can bring one to a maximum energy value below zero.

- Exhaustion does not cause a change in your current energy, unless your current energy is greater than your maximum energy after the application of exhaustion. (unlike weapon swap from a +10 set to +0 set which will lower your current energy by 10e, so that your energy 'used' will remain the same).
- Eg. Shock used at 40/40 energy will result in 30/40 energy, 10/40 being exhaustion. Shock used at 20/40, with 0/40 exhaustion, will result in 15/40 energy, 10/40 exhaustion.
- Exhaustion cannot be removed without re-zoning except by its natural regeneration, and will persist even after death. However, dead characters still recover from exhaustion while waiting for resurrection.
- All skills that say "This spell causes exhaustion" cause exhaustion on the caster, not the target.

Some elementalist skills exhaust the caster. Exhaustion triggers at the start of casting (like adrenaline or energy costs), not upon resolution, so the caster is exhausted even if the spell is cancelled or interrupted.

- Aspect of Exhaustion inflicts exhaustion every 30 seconds.
- Sheer Exhaustion causes all spells to inflict exhaustion.
