Shield

A Shield is an item that is held in the off-hand. Any class may equip a shield; however, highly armored shields are tied to Tactics and Strength for Warriors or Command and Motivation for Paragons.

Currently, the maximum armor that can be granted by a Shield is 16, although there are certain weapon upgrades that can give a conditional armor bonus against specified types of damage.

If the Shield requirement is not met, a character will receive only half of the Shield's Armor Level, or AL. For example, if a character does not have the required 9 points in Tactics to gain an armor bonus of 16, that character will receive an armor bonus of 8 instead. All characters will receive any additional stats on a Shield, regardless of requirement.

2. Tormented Shields can only be obtained in exchange for an Armbrace of Truth.
3. Wooden Bucklers with a Strength requirement are only available from Canthan Collectors, all other Wooden Bucklers have Tactics requirements.
