Yellow labelled items[edit]

How do you open jars ?? any help thanks --Mendil 14:43, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, could you explain what you mean a bit more please? --Santax (talk · contribs) 14:59, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
If you mean chests and other things like that, just click on them. For most chests you need a key but there are some you can open for free poke | talk 15:30, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
I believe the yellow labelled "jars" are in Istan and are only activatable (is that a word?) while a certain quest is active. Unfortunately which quest it is escapes me but I believe it is the one that starts the Elona-wide theme of mime-hate and the jars hold voices of villages. Either way, Poke is correct: just click on them. Don't expect results unless the quest is active, though. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 06:34, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

I really don't know, what you want to say but I think you want to know when a guild leader will be automatically demoted. It's after two months, see also Guild Leader. poke | talk 17:44, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Bonus Items[edit]

can anyone tell me how to use/create bonus items, i playing prophecies, thank you FishBone 20:32, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

By typing "/bonusitems" you get a list of which bonus items are available. By typing "/special" you can get items which are unique for your account (for example Collector Edition bonuses) and by typing "/bonus" you get normal bonus items (aka Preorder Items). See also Special command and Pre-order. poke | talk 20:37, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Getting a class thats on one campaign to another.[edit]

I've bought and played both the Factions and Nightfall campaigns and was wondering how do i play as a class thats not available on the other campaign, like say the assassion?

Also if its not possible to obtain the class in the other campaign then how do you unlock/obtain the new class skills that were introuduced with the new campaign?

Sorry these may be...for lack of better words, noob question, but i have just recently become a member of the Guild Wars family, but i'm loving every minute of it. -- 209.214.175.173 04:50, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Intercontinental travel quests are obtained from NPCs Lion's Arch in Prophecies, Kaineng Center in Factions and Kamadan. The Lion's Arch and Kaineng Center quests are available as soon as you reach the appropriate town, while the Kamadan quests don't become available until you've finished the first three Nightfall misisons and completed The Time is Nigh. Once a character has completed the appropriate quest, they can travel between campaigns by clicking on the ship icon on the world map. See the port article and the articles for the individual travel quests for more details and travel, and the profession and profession changer articles for details on changing secondary professions. You also most have both campaigns on the same account. -- Gordon Ecker 05:42, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

High ping since July 1th[edit]

Since yesterday i have a very high ping. Running from between 156 to 7.000 and Disconnects ( avg is 3.000 ). I didnt have this before the first of july.

I checked the download speed in our house and no one is downloading any thing ( we have a tool for that ). Also with other games i run i have the same ping as i did before, the only problem is Guildwars. And i did not do any big changes lately.

Has there been any server changes since that date? or any thing else? I hear other players are having problems with it to lately. 81.70.68.189 18:49, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Lag Issues – 1 July
We wanted to let players know that we are aware that some of them have experienced latency (lag) over the last few days when playing Guild Wars. The issue is affecting many services that route through the Internet hub in Frankfurt, Germany. Our network teams report that resolving the issue is, unfortunately, outside our direct control but they are tracking the issue and doing what they can to prioritize the matter and to assist in resolving it. We apologize for the inconvenience and will do what we can to assure that this will be resolved as soon as possible.

How do you uninstall Guild Wars?[edit]

moved from Help:Ask a wiki question

I was wondering how you uninstall GUild Wars because there is no uninstall button anywhere to be found.

It can be uninstalled through the Add/Remove Programs utility, accessed from the Windows Control Panel. -- Gordon Ecker 19:17, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
In Windows open 'Control panel', there open 'Add and remove programs', then select Guild Wars from the list and click 'remove'. -- Gem (gem / talk) 19:18, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Running Guild Wars with the -uninstall command line switch can also be used to uninstall the game. -- Gordon Ecker 01:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Slowdown[edit]

I'm a frequent user of the "-image" option before I log into GW every time (plus defragging, spyware remover tools, and only using a total of 25% of my disc space). It has made my playing experience so much better. As of the last update though, I have noticed considerable slow down. Not in the game, not on my PC, it's in the town load screens. It appears that the progress bar fills immediately stating 100% loaded but it sits there for a good 30 seconds typically and up to a minute at other times (longest when first looging in). I'm guessing that I may need to clear off GW and redo it (as my Dat file imaging of GW may be too large since I didn't start imaging until 6 months ago) as I've heard this can reduce the load times as well as the file size. So, I have two questions:

  1. What do I need to do to safely remove GW and re-image it properly?
  2. Are there any other suggestions for speeding up this town load lag or a reason for what is causing it?

Thank you. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 12:50, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

This started on my comp a good while (weeks) ago. I suppose that a fresh Windows installation would help a lot with that and other problems that the computer might encounter. -- Gem (gem / talk) 14:29, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Could this be affected by the latest network latency issues for Europe? -- ab.er.rant sig 14:37, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure. It happened after the last big update we had with the PvE skills and the fixes after. Gem, my PC isn't experiencing any problems at all actually. It runs as fast as it ever has (minus town load lag). This is why I believe that it's GW related. I could turn in a report to ANet but I want some feedback or input first. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 15:31, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

it wont play! -.-[edit]

its just running so slow i cant even get it past the first loading screen

i got all thwe rite stuff it just wont play i downloaded it to --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:162.40.227.173 .

Do you have a loading screen with a loading bar at the bottom? If yes, does the bar show 100% or is it still loading parts of the game? -- Gem (gem / talk) 00:03, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Other programs running in the backgroundcan greatly decrease performance. Do you meet the system requirements? Is it downloading or decompressing? If it's downloading, you can run Guild Wars once with the -image command line switch in order to download everything in advance. If it's decompressing, the only solution I can think of is to. -- Gordon Ecker 01:48, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I just bought Guild Wars and I can't get the game to start up. My installation was successful but when I run the game after that it just goes to a black screen with the Guild Wars themed arrow and freezes, 10 seconds later my computer restarts. When my computer starts back up again I get a "serious error" saying there is a problem with my device driver or something of the sort, any suggestions? Thanks a lot! (I also have a side question, as a new player, is it best to have your first character as "Roleplaying" rather than "PvP only"? Thanks again.

Try looking online and making sure your video card drivers are up to date. That has been 99% effective against every game problem I've ever had in GW. If you're not sure how, right-click on your desktop, select the 'Settings' tab, click the 'Advanced' button, the 'Monitor' tab, the 'Properties' button, and finally the Driver tab... That should tell you the relevant driver information and give you a button to Update your driver. If you know your card's manufacturer and model number it's probably best to go to their website and download the latest drivers there - only Microsoft could make it so difficult to check your video card settings. :-/ (you could also just use the Device Manager but I'm thinking this is more accessible for the average user)- Thulsey Zheng - talk 05:57, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Have you tried clicking "Send Error Report" in the bottom-right corner of the window that talks aobut the "serious error"? Generally when you send the report and it's given a chance to be analyzed, a Microsoft webpage opens explaining what went wrong. It just happened today to me, and I found out I needed to update a graphics driver.
A PvE character is better to begin with for most people as playing through the game has a much lower learning curve, regardless of campaign, than beginning with a PvP character. Hope that helps! --Talonz 06:29, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, do check the hardware requirements of the game. -- ab.er.rant sig 06:34, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
It could be a bad hard drive sector, when's the last time you ran a hard drive scan? -- Gordon Ecker 06:40, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your responses. Yes, I have sent the error report and I believe it said something about my drivers... I will try to get it to crash again to write down exactly what it says I guess... the microsoft page opened but it really didn't say much, and the solution was unknown. I meet the hardware requirements. I have no idea the last time I ran a hard drive scan, how can I do that? (About the character... can a PvE character participate in the same PvP events as a PvP character or only PvP made characters can participate in arenas and such?) Thanks again!!!
  • Well... I just ran a error report and here is what I got: Unfortunately, the error report you submitted is corrupted and cannot be analyzed. Corrupted error reports are rare. They can be caused by hardware or software problems, and they usually indicate a serious problem with your computer.
In newer versions of Windows, you can scan the hard drive by right clicking the hard drive's icon, selecting properties and going into the Tools tab of the properties panel, it's labelled as error-checking. For older versions of windows, there is a utility called ScanDisk which comes with Windows, I believe the link is located in Start → Programs → Accessories → System Tools. Also, if you barely have enough RAM and then start up a program with high memory requirements, it can cause a crash. -- Gordon Ecker 07:10, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
  • Well it's 5:36 AM, I have tried everything possible that I know of and nothing has worked... any suggestions left? lol
  • I was told by a friend to update my video driver, when I went to look for it I came across "

Intel(R) 946GZ Express Chipset Family" which I think is it... but when I tried to update it, it said that no updates are available

RPG characters are not working[edit]

Hi, I have just re-installed Guild Wars Factions. I can log on my PVP characters but when I click on my RPG character the game just freezes and the only solution is a restart. I managed to login only once with this character. He spawned in the guild hall when i clicked on the ship icon on d map to take you to kaineng city it froze since then I cannot even login on it. Also if my PVP characters try to go to alliance battles from the guild hall the game will freeze too. Then I tried removing its gw.DAT file from the directory. When I started the game it began downloading normally but after 10% it froze. I do not know what to do and I'm afraid that i will not be able to play Eye of the north. This never happened when I was playing guild wars the first time. If you can help me please do. Thank you -- Harpuia

If you insert the disc for the latest campaign, you can use the repair installation option to install an old version of the dat file, which should decrease the download size when you run guild wars with the -image command line switch. It could also be a bad sector, you should scan yoru hard drive if you haven't recently. -- Gordon Ecker 07:39, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Ok I have just used the repair installation, should I also add the -image thing in its properties?

Only temporarily. Using -image runs the program in download only mode, it will check for updates, download everything it doesn't already have and then exit. After you've run it with -image and finished downloading, you'll need to run it without the -image switch to actually play the game. -- Gordon Ecker 10:21, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Did you try running it after repairing to see if the downloading works? You might want to send a report if this still occurs after scanning your hard disk and repairing/reinstalling the client.
Some other questions: How come your role-playing character spawns in the guild hall? If you've only logged in once, did you actually get that character into Kaineng City before logging off? -- ab.er.rant sig 10:52, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

The re-install download part did not work. Sorry for being a noob but can you explain the hard drive part please and can you also tell me how I can report this? Btw the character screen shows that this rpg character is in kaineng city but the freeze happened when I clicked on the travel button now i cannot log on it anymore. Also I tried making a new rpg character and when i tried to login on it the same thing happened(btw I only have factions). Can this change if I install Eye of the North in the future? Thank you for your time.

-- Gordon Ecker 23:18, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I had a similar issue before after an update where one of my characters would cause the game to freeze (and only one character, the others were fine). After some help from Support, it turned out that my graphics card drivers were, amazingly, out of date by about a month. So always update drivers if you can before/after a GW update. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 06:00, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Yup, I think your best bet now is to send a report to Support with as much details as you can provide. -- ab.er.rant sig 06:07, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

That is what I'm goin to do I have tried everything you told me and I also tried installing it on my other hard disk but it froze again. But I think my driver is a bit out of date so I'll try that one first. Anyway thank you for trying to help me I really appreciated it. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Harpuia .

How to link games after already puting in access key for each game sepratly (updated this page agin )[edit]

I started with Guild Wars NightFall. I didn't link my files together because I didn't know what it meant. I would very much like to link them together if it is possible.64.12.116.12 23:54, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, once you've used an access key and didn't link it, you can't use it again anymore, and you can't link any more. -- ab.er.rant sig 01:40, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Each campaign product key can be used to either create a single new account or add campaign access to a single existing account, and two existing accounts cannot be merged. You can still buy a second copy of Nightfall to add to your existing Prophecies account, buy a second copy of Prophecies to add to your existing Nightfall account and buy copies of other campaigns or expansions to add to either of your accounts, however there is no way to combine two existing accounts. -- Gordon Ecker 02:00, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Now for the new Guild Wars game comeing out can I link all the other Guild Wars games to the new one?

One copy of the coming game can only be linked to one account. So if you made one account with Nightfall and one with Factions, for example, you would have to choose which one of those would get upgraded. Or buy two copies of the new game. - anja talk 14:30, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

So i can only link the other Guild Wars their comeing out with to Profacies,Factions, or Nightfall?

Yes, the coming game (Eye of the North) is an expansion that requires one of those for it to work. - anja talk 15:57, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Can I link all of the Games to Eye of the North?

Yes. But as said, one copy of Eye of the North only works with one account. So if you haven't linked your games (meaning, you play Prophecies with one login, Factions with another, etc) you have several accounts, and you would need several copies of EotN to have them all linked to EotN. If you linked all your games together into one account (one login) you only need one copy of EotN. - anja talk 17:43, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Is it possible at ALL to link my games togeter now that I have seperate accounts at ALL

No. You can't link them once you have created separate accounts. The NCsoft support can do it, but only if you have special reasons, and I think you can't keep anything of what's on the accounts being merged. I'm not even sure they do this kind of merge anymore. - anja talk 17:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Well thank you for your help.

Character toggle[edit]

how do i toggle my character view? I was seeing my character as I moved about--then somehow i now only see the view in front of character. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Bork9050 .

The camera can be rotated by holding the right mouse butting. If you have a mouse wheel, you can use it to zoom in and out. If you do not have a mouse wheel, you can assign keys to Camera: Zoom In and Camera: Zoom Out in the control tab of the options panel, which can be accessed through the menu, and, by default, the F11 key. -- Gordon Ecker 02:02, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

can you use the same access key twice --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.153.162.93 .

No. Each campaign product key can be used once to either create a new account or add an additional campaign to an existing account. It cannot be used to do both, create multiple accounts or add additional campaigns to multiple existing accounts. -- Gordon Ecker 23:50, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

need help loading[edit]

how long does it take to download on aol --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Ironfist90 .

Assuming it's the dial-up version of AOL, probably about three to four days.
I kid, I kid... the actual installer file isn't that huge, but counting all of the various gw.dat goodness, it's probably around two days of solid downloading (average download speed on dialup, at least in my experience, was about 20kb/s. If you're going faster, good for you - you might be able to finish the download in a mere 30 hours =P). Of course, if you have the installation DVD, it should be a lot less, as you wouldn't have to download the installer or most of the gw.dat file - just the more recent updates. I'd recommend that you not download it, just to save yourself a lot of hassle =P MisterPepe talk 00:05, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Dual Strike Quest confusion[edit]

I am having trouble with one of the beginning primary quests in Factions- called Dual Strike. I'm supposed to follow a certain assasin named Panaku to the village of Aerie and assasinate Swift Honorclaw. However Panaku does not seem to move, and therefore I cannot "follow" him to the village. There is no green star or arrow on the mini-map, so I dont know which way to go. After quite a bit of exploring, I find the Tengu village of Aerie, where I find that the leader is Soar honorclaw (not swift honorclaw) and all she says is that "now is not a good time for visitors in Aerie, escpecially since my father was murdered" I assume her father is Swift honorclaw, the guy Im supposed to kill. When I go back and talk to Panaku, he has nothing new to say, and I am stuck. This is a primary quest, so I cant abandon it. somebody please help me if you think you know what to do. It would be very much appreciate Thank you--X Ask A Ninja X

You can still abandon primary quests (I think). You should get the quest again from previous quest giver. Did you try to re-enter the region? What does quest log say to do next? - MSorglos (talk|contrib) 05:43, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Many other people have had problems with this quest. Just drop any festival quest you have and it should fix it.

Lost my Pet somewhere out in the world...[edit]

I am currently a level 8 Ranger and managed somehow to become disassociated with my pet. I did not notice this until some game time had elapsed as I was busy resurecting and in and out of town, where pets are not shown accompanying the ranger. Now if I try to comfort my pet, the game just tells me the pet is out of range. There's no discernable indication on the map as to the pet's location. Is there any way to find where the pet is?

Pets only appear while you have Charm Animal equipped on your skill bar. -- Gordon Ecker 03:33, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

primary Quest problems[edit]

I am Rt/Mo working on "Warning Tengu" when I go into Kinya Province to speak to Soar Honorclaw my arrow disappears when I enter the explorable area. I have found Soar Honorclaw and spoke to him and he tells me to follow Tenu and defeat the afflicted one. Tenu never appears and when I go to where the afflicted one appears he does not appear. I can not finish quest. Also, when anytime I enter Kinya Province with me Charracter who is leading will loose there arrow. When I leave party they can reenter and everything will work correctly. If u have any advice for me my e-mail is denisonfertilizer@hotmail.com.

Thanks, denisonfertilizer@hotmail

I had this same problem and the reason it wouldn't work for me is because I had an active festival quest. Either remove or complete the quest, if you have one, and it shall work. IF you don't have a festival quest, then I have no idea

Command keys needed[edit]

Hi, I used to be able to close the Party Formation panel with "P" in town, now that opens a new search panel. What is the command to close it and open it, for that matter is there a list of command keys somewhere?

Thanks --69.47.28.133 19:30, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually there is no method to close the Party Formation panel in an outpost. In an explorable area, you can open/close it with P but in outposts it's always open. poke | talk 20:49, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Not entirely true, press ctrl-shift-H at the same time. It clears your whole screen even in outposts.:)

Movement[edit]

When I am running somewhere, why does the game move me back to a previous location, so that I have to run the distance all over again? I cannot go anywhere because of this.--71.208.108.10 22:27, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

It's because of lag, the server isn't getting the signals for your movement. -- Gordon Ecker 23:07, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
I think the slang term for this is rubber-banding. - BeX iawtc 02:24, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
To explain what is happening in an example: You move forward and may make it past a group of enemies. You might then continue seeing damage numbers above your head though they are nowhere near you. Upon a random circumstance (death, some skill use, lag caught up, etc.) you suddenly see your character "rubber-band" back in place to where you already were and the reason you may still have been taking damage when you had no enemies near.
Essentially, ANet is running your same instanced zone at their end as you are at yours and they are not running at the same time. Sometimes they will catch up suddenly and snap you back to where you should be to catch up to their running version. This is a problem that has been going on for a long time and never has had a permanent solution though they have lessened this over time. Best ways to avoid this (in my expereince) are to avoid other programs running in the background, full screen the game, reduce/turn off/eliminate other bandwidth using devices, or play at non-peak times. Peak times may be specific to your area though and not just limited to GW players or ANet. Hope this helps. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 02:50, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
I find that if I realise I have rubber-banded (i.e. spotting damage numbers when your character seems to be in an empty area), targeting the nearest creature (with c) and pressing space corrects your position and you might have enough time to save yourself. :) Most actions, like activating a skill, clicking somewhere, etc seem to fix your position. - BeX iawtc 03:11, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Which is why I find click-to-move very useful. The keyboard arrow keys just isn't all that reliable when there's lag. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:29, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Quest marker[edit]

ya for some reason my quests are not showing the green arrow telling where to go and when i go too where im supose too be there not completing the quest for me.any idea why that would be happening? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:72.38.129.234 .

What quest are you referring to? Certain quest objectives won't show the green arrow because you're expected to search for it yourself. You can search for the quest on this wiki, although we're still building up our quest pages. Might want to try GuildWiki as well. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:27, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, if the quest requires a specific hero the marker won't show up if the hero isn't in the party --Valshia 22:04, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Alliance faction[edit]

Hi i would like to know why we are losing faction so fast yesterday i put in 25k kurzick faction which brought us up to 314k, but then shut down for 30 min. when i can back on we on we were down 35k, to 279k, i would like to why, this is very discourging and i fell like quiting factions because there are other parts of this game i would like to play but all my time right now is just tring to get our factions up, i think that when you put 5k-20k faction in a day they should stay there. Someone can please contect me and explain this to me my email is <email address has been removed> Thank you --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.67.147.33 .

Alliance Faction decays by 10% per day. If it didn't decay, the large, old alliances would have been able to accumulate hundreds of millions of faction, and it would be nearly impossible for newer alliances to catch up with them. -- Gordon Ecker 21:32, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
I have removed your email address to protect against spam harvester bots. You can re-add it if you really want to. -- Gordon Ecker 05:06, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, " Graphic Card Failure " - according to GW support, not the case.[edit]

So basically i have encountered a point in Guild Wars(NightFall), where i skip the credits of a mission and i am blacked out, and directed to a pop up from guild wars support, this is the second time this has happened in the same exact place of time in the game. The pop-up tells me that it is a graphic card failure, and gives me a procedure, which includes uninstalling and reinstalling my graphic card. When i did this, ( on the first time this happened ) i tried to log back in, onto my character that i was currently on, and the same deal happened, i was unable to log onto my character without the same popup from guild wars support coming up. Even after i had already done what i had told me, so i deleted the character, moved on. I recently made another character in its steed, and i had just gotten it to the same exact point today, me thinking that it was only some glitch on that character, continued on, and the SAME thing happened, im confused, my only conclusion to why this would happen is i have an unsupported video card for guild wars, but why would it stop working randomly halfway through the game?

-Confused

We encountered a similiar problem with my girlfriends old laptop with the Nightfall campaign. Certain areas of the game seem to use graphics features that some graphics cards don't support so we were unable to play further before she got a new computer. If you have a laptop there is little you can do, but with a regular computer you canjust get a better graphics card. -- Gem (gem / talk) 21:52, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
I haven't experienced this problem, but I suspect that putting the graphics settings as low as possible might help. -- Gordon Ecker 02:12, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
As discussed on my talk page, it seems to be an integrated Intel graphics card which is unable to support certain features of the Nightfall campaign even on low settings. The problems are first encountered on the arrival to Vabbi. THe only option is to get another graphics card. -- Gem (gem / talk) 05:02, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Did you tried the -dx8 parameter? poke | talk 08:04, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if -dx8 works now, but it had no effect during the time that we were unable to progress due to this problem. The game still used dx9 even with the parameter. :( I know that the parameter has worked before, but that was long before Nightfall release, probably a bit after factions release. -- Gem (gem / talk) 09:25, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Minions Gone Wild[edit]

I'm trying to do the Ritualist starting quest Minions Gone Wild. But after talking to the professor Gai and starting the quest, nothing happens, minions do not spawn. Talking to the professor Gai again doesn't help.

I've taken all skills from the professor Gai also, so only response I get is pretty much: "I realize that you must prepare yourself, but those Minions will not confine themselves on the Masoleum for long.".

I've restarted the game, abandoned the quest and retaken it, nothing seems to help, minion(s) just don't seem to spawn.

--Rianon #Tuesday, July 10, 2007 11:59

Then you need to provide more details and clarification. You asked how to return to the Nightfall campaign, so that's what Anja told you. If you want to rejoin the Nightfall campaign, just simply go back to where you left off and continue from there. What do you mean you cannot join parties? Cant find the access key![edit]

The Guild Wars access key is on the card, but must be revealed by scrubbing with a coin or similiar. The paper with a code is the trial key which can be given to someone who wants to try the game. -- Gem (gem / talk) 10:43, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Since it's the GotY edition, they might've made it like my NF key. The key was a small squarish black "Access Key Card" paper which you had to tear around the edges (along the dotted lines) and open it up. My Nightfall key, along with the trial and buddy keys are all sealed inside the "Access Key Card". -- ab.er.rant sig 14:43, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Finding The Oracle only requires completion of Vizunah Square as far as I can tell. Are you definitely talking to Messenger Gosuh? General differentiation questions (I hope I spelled that right)[edit]

Do the attribute points change in costs in the different campaigns? If so, can u give me a list of them? --Raph 13:58, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

If you're referring to attribute points, what attributes you can spend them in changes depending on what profession you play, which might change depending on which campaign you're playing but could also change within the same campaign. If you're talking about the cost to raise a single attribute to any given level, no, that's always the same. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 14:10, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks that helped. Ok next question, i have 2 more. I heard that u can get WAY more experiance in Factions and Nightfall quests than Prophecies, leading to easier times getting to lvl 20, is this true? if so, than what is the average amount of xp you can get from a single Nightfall quest?--Raph 14:28, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Both Factions and Nightfall are more rapidly-paced than Prophecies, the former more so than the latter. The typical XP reward for a Nightfall quest on the starting island of Istan is around 1,000 to 1,500 XP, while the typical reward for a Factions quest on the starting Shing Jea Island is often 3,000 XP. You can take a look at the quest rewards for various quests in the Factions and Nightfall quest lists. (By the way - you can indent your text by placing colons (":") in front of it, in order to show you're responding to someone - if the text you're replying to has 2 colons, you'd put 3 in front of yours, et cetera.) Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 14:34, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Srry about that i am new to the wiki. Anyway, final question. If at all is there anything that makes Nightfall as pvp-heavy as Factions, or is Factions the game out of the 3 with the most pvp content?
Neither Prophecies nor Nightfall have equivalents for Factions' alliance battles, nor do they have equivalents to Jade Quarry/Fort Aspenwood. So the answer to your question would be no to the former, and yes to the latter. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 14:49, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
So to clarify, if i want the most pvp content and to lvl up a roleplaying character to lvl 20 faster, i should get factions? (even though i am getting nightfall next, then most likely GW:EN)
That's a sound conclusion, yes. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 14:56, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, i should bet getting nightfall and starting my future dervish character this upcoming week (YAY!) :)

Game of the year bonus items[edit]

moved from User talk:Gaile Gray

Hello there! I didn't know where/from who I'm supposed to ask this but heres the question anyways: If I do the /special command on one character can I still use the weapons on other characters or are they customized for the character I use the command on? Thanks for taking your time :). -Elemental Flame.jpg Tulen elementti (talk) 17:02, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Spawned weapons are customized for the character (and that character's heroes). However, you can use the same command to spawn copies of such weapons and items for any other characters on your account. The exception are non-customized items such as a Kuunavang minipet - only one of these may be spawned per account. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 17:04, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Product Key[edit]

I am considering purchasing Guild wars, but my wife would like to play as well. All the information I have read on your site says that I can not use the product key twice, which would mean that my wife (who I have played other multiplayer games not on line with) would have to purchase a copy of Guild Wars as well. I have seen where a single account can have up to four characters, since I haven't seen any discussion of playing more than one character at a time in the data base, is this an option, since both computers would have the same ip address. Any response will be helpful in the decision of whether to purchase or to pass this by.
