Spirit range

Spirit range is a range defined by the area of effect of passive spirits. This is also the range used by siege machines.

It is approximately 2.7 times the radius of the aggro bubble (or approximately the same as Soul Reaping's range). Most binding and nature Ritual skills specify they must be "in spirit range" of allies/foes.

Two allied spirits created by the same skill cannot exist within each other's range; if a second spirit is summoned by any ally within the spirit's range, the oldest one will be destroyed. [verification requested]

Passive spirits extend their effects across Spirit range, with four exceptions:

[edit] Attack spirits

Attack spirit use the same projectile range as Longbows, i.e. 1.35 Danger Zone radii, since theirs are essentially projectile attack skills. Like bows, their range is affected by their height relative to their target.

  • Jack Frost spirits use spell range, since their snowball attack is a spell.
  • Spirits created outside of the player's range will not attack until they are viewed
    • The only two ways to "activate" them are to enter their radar range or by observing from the point-of-view of a hero or henchman within its range (i.e. clicking on a hero/henchmen while the player's character is dead).
    • Spirits activated in this manner will continue to attack even if the player leaves the activation range.
