Xunlai Material Upgrades

Hey, I've searched the wiki but can't find any information on where to go to get my current material storage upgraded. It said that I could do it in the rulebook, and I found a page in the wiki on it, but it wasn't very informative -- anyone that knew to search for it would already have known anything the page said... You can get a material storage upgrade once only, so if you already have a materials tab, that's it. Vault box also holds information on how to get it, if that's what you meant. - anja 01:04, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, the material storage upgrade is an upgrade to storage that lets you access the materials storage tab, not an upgrade to material storage that gives you more material storage. You can get material storage upgrade from any Xunlai Agent. -- Gordon Ecker 01:09, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

secondary profession attribute points

It's the buff, Journey to the North, which they use to get you up to level 20 in power. It has a pattern of stat distribution which you can read about on the page about the buff. Using that info you might be able to get some points into your secondary attributes. Whisper Sound

I'm not quite sure what you mean. There's a ping sound every time someone pings you for the first time, without having contacted you via whisper within the past five minutes. To enable this, turn on your speakers. Press F11, and go to Sound, then move "UI Volume" up as far as you want it. Calor (t) 19:42, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

First of all, see Minipet. Secondly, minipets are given as a birthday present when a character reaches a year/two years old. I talked to Meghan and I'm inside the area, but I can't do battle, this is where I'm stuck. Do I need to join a team? I thought there were gladiator battles...now that I'm inside, how do I fight?

The highest level is the same as everywhere wlse - level 20. It's just ridiculously hard to get, and I wouldn't advise someone new to the game to try and get to 20 in Pre searing.--(Brains12) 19:18, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

teleporter help

I am outside of Amnoon Oasis at the teleporter. All enemies have been killed but I can not activate any of the teleporters. I have touched-clicked on all of them and nothing happens. HOW TO i ACTIVATE TELEPORTERS.

game freeze

enough is enough. i have time warner cable with modem internet. i am experiencing freezing of the game at all levels and areas. i am not the only one experiencing this phenomenon. people i party with have it happening also. i have cable server do extensive checks on my system and it is operating within parameters. my suggestion would be it is on the games end that this is happening. my only suggestion is that get the programers to drop thier coffee and donuts and do some serious debugging to see if they can help the players out. thank you as i have read from some answering experts this is not the site to vent ones spleen on. sorry but frustration is frustration no matter how you look at it. if they have a problem with this proceedure i suggest they deal with it. 66.91.182.127 03:50, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

It could also be your computer, not the game or the connection. Do you get an error message, or does it just freeze? Head to System Requirements Lab and get your computer evaluated. Also check to see if you've downloaded the most current drivers for sound and graphics. It may be the .dat file, in which you should consult Command line arguments for the -repair function. Gold/Platinum nerfs

Did you happen to also hear why they're so-called nerfing players with too much gold? It wouldn't make business sense to piss off your customers unless they have a valid reason - such as for scammers and botters. Dot map

Hi! I would like to download a dotted map (map that had been dotted) in ingame. I like to used a dotted map especially the mission or quest that im done. How could i download a dotted map or how could i used the image of dotted map that I took a screenshot and replaced those map image without dot.

Please i need help especiallly those repeatable mission or quest.

You can't download one, per se. What you can do (If you have at least a reasonably good computer) is run Guild Wars, with your browser in the background. Displaying on your browser could be the dotted map of the mission/quest you're doing. I do that quite often, and it's amazingly helpful. Calor (t) 22:41, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually, through lore and what shall happen in GW2 there are Dragons you have seen. These are Ancient dragons older than the 5 Gods as written. 1 is the dragon you see waking up after you defeat the great destroyer, one lay sleeping inside Drakkar Lake and another one is a huge one right smack dab in the middle of vanguard area. But sticking with the original question, no. There are no tamable dragons in any campaign. Unless you count the Iguana, Crocodile, or Dune Lizard which are very similar to Komodo Dragons, which technically have Dragon in their name. (it's a stretch, but it works. Alright, I checked the in-game store.

Skill Packs unlock skills, nothing more; you must have the corresponding campaign to actually use the unlocked skills. What I believe they have (or used to have) was a PvP version of the campaigns; that unlocked every skill, and granted access to the campaign as well (not sure if it extended to PvE). There's also a PvP access pack, which allows you to get into PvP without any of the campaigns, and treats unlocks as though you own all of the campaigns.

So overall: with the Access Pack, you can use every skill, but only for PvP. Unlock packs won't let you use skills you don't have access to (i.e., Factions skills when you don't own Factions). Aside from that, if you want to use Factions skills in Nightfall PvE, then you need to actually get Factions. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:57, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

My Elite Skill has disappeared

I captured the Elite Sin skill "Flourish", had it loaded in my skills bar, changed my build. Then went to add it back, and now it's completely disappeared. Can't get it at a skills trainer or anything. Just gone! What happened? I've captured a lot of skills in the over 1 yr i've played and never had one disappear. Any ideas as to what happened, or what to do? I'm obviously going to recapture the skill again, but don't want it to go POOF!--Tat2dfreak 07:48, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Flourish isn't an assassin skill, it's a warrior skill. Only the skills for your primary profession and your current secondary profession are displayed in the Skills and Attributes Panel, the skills for previous secondary professions are hidden until you change back to them. -- Gordon Ecker 08:13, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

downloading all maps to save time

You can force GW to download any information that is missing from your gw.dat file by using the -image command line option. If you have a desktop shortcut to run GW, it can be editted to add "-image" to it, then run GW. This only needs to be done once, so remove the "-image" option afterwards to run GW normally. This can be very time consuming though, even on a fast broadband connection (my gw.dat file is approx ~4GB to handle all 3 campaigns and GW:EN) --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 13:04, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

It should look like this: "F:\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image the path is most likely different for you. Use the "run" entry in your start menu, look up GW.exe and add -image at the end of the line. then hit ok. --Morgoth Bauglyr 13:27, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Right-clicking the desktop shortcut (if you use one) will let you edit the target as well, you can add the command in to the end of it there. I use 2 GW icons on my desktop, one is my playing client with my password to automatically sign in (since only i use my pc) the second is for the updates, the one that contains the -image. No it would no longer need to download it again, unless another major update comes that's when really big files come in. You can even stop the process of GW downloading all the files mid-way if you need to afk for more than a day or two and it will retain any files that it has already downloaded. ugamegold spam bot

A "whisper" appears in many outposts and towns telling people to try a web site for ugamegold.com

This may be a credit card scam, and in any case, it is irritating to everyone who is being spammed by the whispers. It changes its 'name' every day, and perhaps by area, too. I have been hit by this thing in Lion's Arch, Eye of the North, Kamadan, and a few other places.

dropping hero

this may be one of those dumb questions that never gets asked. is it possible to drop a particular hero and take an alternate even if you have completed the quest. i.e. the 2 acolytes sousuke and jin in nightfall. i picked sousuke and later find i could have a stronger team with jin. it doesnt look like a repeatable quest and i have finished anyway.its just an idea and i wanted to know if it was possible. thank you 66.91.182.127 16:54, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately not. The only way is to restart your character. You can get the other hero when you finish the game, but only then. However, there are a lot of good Elementalist builds that you can use and there's no need to restart because of this - Souske can be a good companion once you get him enough skills. :) Biscuits 17:40, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

There is also the Char ranger Pyre Sureshot in EOTN, or you can make another hero a secondary ranger and adapt that build. Like Biscuits mentioned, all the information you need is at Sunspear Rank, and you should be able to learn vampirism if you are a Sunspear Commander. If after talking to the Sunspear Hero Skill Trainers you still cannot get the skills, it could be because you don't have any Hero Skill Points. Elite skill tome

I used an Elite Assassin skill tome while in town after unlocking the Way of the assassin skill in pvp combat. The skill does not show on my list of skills under crit strikes. Am I doing something wrong? or in some way did the game mess up and not unlock the skill for me. The skill did pop up in the Left corner of the screen saying I learned the skill. yet I cannot find it nor is it at the skill trainer to buy. What can I do?

Treasure Hunting Title

My primary character is set at Adept Treasure Hunter. When using a lockpick or key do you have to have this skill ticked in the title to receive the appropriate lockpick % and also the relevant level of item or can your tick be place on the lightbringer title for instance.

Also will this level of skill in the primary character have a trickle down effect in all of my other account characters. A new level 20 ranger for instance doesn't appear to pick up any golds(Even in Hard Mode) or knowledge in add ons very often(therefore no new title track).Is this is because my primary character already knows them.

Two questions here. First of all, you DO NOT need to have the treasure hunter title ticked to get the lockpick bonus. Keep in mind though that the Treasure Hunter title is character, not account based, so your new ranger will have to work on building up ranks in the title separately from your first/older character.

Second point is a bit different, item unlocks apply across your account rather than a character. So, for example, if you find a gold sword with max fortitude (+30) mod on character A, it'll be unlocked with a little window saying so. If you later find the same mod with character B, it's already been unlocked for your account, so there won't be an unlock window displayed.

Identifying unknown gold items will however still add to the Wisdom title track for the character doing the identifying, even if any addons/inscriptions/mods etc. are already unlocked for your account. Some players consider this a waste though, and will usually pass all unidentified gold items to a single character to ensure their Wisdom title is boosted as much as possible.

In short, Treasure Hunter title=Character based. Item unlocks/addons=Account based.

It could easily be A.net's servers being slowed, it's not always the user. Of course, having a better-than-average connection will help lower lag spikes. Allegedly.- Vanguard 15:16, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Yellow zeros instead of blue healing numbers

I noticed lately when I'm playing on my monk that sometimes when I heal someone, instead of seeing the usual blue health value and divine favor numbers above their character, I see yellow zeros. I know they are still being healed because I can see their health bars go up. Is this possibly a corrupt dat file on my end or are others experiencing this? using a game control pad, logitech

Is there anyway to use a logitech game pad/control rather than having to use my lap tops touch pad ? I am wanting to use a controller because it is easier to manuver the character,

Gwen's Flute

Hi guys, in Wiki you mention that Gwen will heal you after you have given her a new flute, and also mention about not doing the flute quest in a party - well it seems something went wrong with my quest - i got the old flute, but joined a party before taking to Gwen again, and the other party member then completed the quest, and hence she doesn't ask me for a new flute.... also, I gave her the flowers and small girls cape and then got the "tapestry" thing, but my question is - will she heal me know that I am "her favourite person" but never got to give her a new flute?? thanx--41.244.24.21 20:52, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Game crash after new patch.

Ok, I had played GW:factions(only one i got) allmoast a year ago when i deleted it and stopped playing but now i installed it again and it worked fine untill i turn it on one time and game starts downloading patch and when it hits 100% this happend and happens all the time I launch game since and i cant play...

about it crashing i would say re-install it. i would also say it's vista's fault since GW isn't 100% vista compatible. so re install it or change the command line to -repair to repair it before re installing it. about reporting someone just do /report (insert name of character name) and a window will pop up and just go through those steps.--話す priestess donut 寄付22:07, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Blindness

I was looking thru the skill descriptions and was wondering if blindness works on casters. It says in the wording that attacks have a 90% chance of missing (melee and bow). My main reason for asking this is that I am trying to vanquish areas in Elona with the elementalist bosses that utterly destroy my party with searing flames or savannah heat. One disadvantage I have is that I am attempting this with just heroes and henchies, so trying to manage them all is somewhat difficult when they clump up. I figure if I can blind them, it will give the rest of the party the time to finish them off. Any suggestions out there? 72.24.236.77 18:10, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

heh, think of it. if you're blind, would you be able to speak some magic words? blind only affects hitting with a weapon. to stop enemies from casting, bring a mesmer using domination Magic, an assassin that applies Shroud of Silence, or anything that applies Daze, which is pretty much what you could call "blind" for casters. - Y0_ich_halt 18:21, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

A trick when using Heroes against nasty AoE stuff like Searing Flames is to give them all separate flags, to force them to spread out a bit. Clumping is a real big problem in the regard, but like Y0_ich_halt mentioned, an interrupting Mesmer will do nicely, especially considering the Hero AI's super-human reflexes with interrupting skills. Factions/ Stuck

Wiki says to do "FINDING THE ORACLE" after Vizunah Square. Says to talk to Messenger Gosuh to get quest but he does not offer one. I have completed Vizunah Square.

Are you sure you accepted the quest for Mayhem in the Market/Welcome to Cantha (which one you had depends on which campaign you started on - Prophecies/Nightfall for the first, Factions for the second Factions for the first, Prophecies/Nightfall for the second)? You might need to accept the quest then do Vizunah Square for the progression to update and allow you to take Finding The Oracle. -- Brains12 \ Talk 19:26, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. I went back to get Mayhem and he offers nothing, so I did do it. I am pretty sure this is a Factions Character because all the cities on the Island are on my map. Ministers Chos Estate , ect.. Any more suddestions?

If it's the starter armor (the armor you started with), it's not sellable. You will simply have to delete it to get rid of it. — Galil 03:44, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Secondary From Other Campaigns?

Title is kinda self-explanatory... I've got all the campaigns, and I was wondering how to get my Dervish a secondary from Factions. I've seen D/A's and D/Rit's, but I've got no clue how to get a secondary in this way.

You can't choose it as a secondary profession at the start of the game, only when you are able to speak to a profession changer. You'll have to pick a different one until then. Biscuits 18:37, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

(Edit conflict) Answer: you can't. You can only gain your initial secondary on your home continent, which precludes a Dervish from choosing A or Rt from the start. You also need to be ascended by any of the three methods to make the switch. However this is only a temporary situation. When you switch secondaries as instructed above, you can switch back and forth at will and it doesn't take very long in the Nightfall campaign to get to that point.
