Site Update[edit]

I'm very interested in whether Anet have decided to add an event page to GuildWars.com? It should also be noted that the announcment on the log in screen could possibly be a copy-paste from last year? --Smithy-Star User Smithyben sig icon.png 19:44, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

i think its always like that ¬_¬ --Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 19:45, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

I was refering to the "New Quests" bit... This page will drastically need editing, I've set up a basic template based upon last years one. Obviously the schedule is compeltely wrong in terms of date. --Smithy-Star User Smithyben sig icon.png 19:59, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Any thoughts on not listing NPCs until they actually appear? I remember some confusion/complaints on this with past events. Guild Free 23:32, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

new quests...[edit]

Maybe this year we will see the return of Menzies? MarioDX 20:55, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

That would be interesting :D make FoW a little harder! User Radthor Dax Sig.png Radthor Dax 03:35, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

That would be cool, FoW is rather easy for an elite, I did it over last with a friend with a simple double necro team -,- O_O--Sierra84.196.119.34 14:47, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Loading Maps[edit]

Hey, i dont know if this is happening for anybody else, but i'm having to load maps all over again, this has started since the release of the Hallowe'en event. These areas dont just include Lions Arch and Kamadan, i'm having to load things like Sunspear Sanctuary all over again, help?

No idea about why, but doing a -image gives a redownload of some 1500 files or so. Winterbay 21:17, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I had to download Great Temple of Balthazar again. No idea why. Other area's work fine and require no download. Waar Kijk Je Naar 11:32, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Link[edit]

Just a question, shouldn't THIS page be linked on the main page from the special event, not the general Halloween page? 84.28.145.205 21:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Guild Versus Guild[edit]

Aside from the NPCs being dressed up to celebrate Halloween, you are also rewarded 50 Trick-or-Treat bags per person, for a flawless victory.80.192.156.3 23:36, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Added GvG section to the page. I fail at making tables though so someone might wanna edit that so it takes up less room Ox rider 09:50, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and you don't need a flawless victory for the ToTs, just a win is sufficient. Ox rider 09:52, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

White Mantle Emblems[edit]

and their collector have been removed from the list of collectors. Anyone know if that is because that collector will not actually be spawning or did someone just remove it because they haven't yet. If that latter is the case shouldn't ALL the collectors who have not spawned yet be removed for now? Em Jae 01:25, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, i collected all the emblems that dropped for me and guess what? No trader ._. DemonicFahrirDesecrate Enchantments.jpg 11:54, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I was just about to ask the very same thing? Does this maybe have something to do with the fact that these drop from the war in kryta NPC's and maybe there is going to be another use for them in the next part of Guild Wars Beyond in Cantha? I hope it wouldn't be something like because there would be soo many of them in peoples inventories from farming war supplies that they didn't want people to that easily get lots of halloween goodies! Based on how long alot of these titles are "Grind" wasn't an accident. It seems like it was an insurance policy to keep people playing and if thats the case then it is time to make things easier NOW...Hint Hint!! Guild Wars 2 is now your insurance policy! ...and to all the people whinning about how GW1 people getting stuff in GW2 in anyway unfair; You all can keep quiet. You will get absolutely NO sympathy from anybody who has had to grind in the past to get these goodies...and if you want them then get to grinding with us or keep quiet for the rest of eternity!!Cinnamongod 17:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Last year, collectors rolled out in stages. (Some believe that this was intentional; others believe the NPCs appearances were glitched.) I expect the WME collector will appear in the next few days.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:44, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
The collectors have always rolled out gradually through the event. This is nothing new, nor is it something glitched. Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 21:09, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Too soon?[edit]

Since there are indicators that Halloween may have some changes, I object to having this up before the event is even announced on the website. Especially with full details. In the past, the pages have been built as the information has been released. I think you all are just getting lazy and copy/pasting last years. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 01:35, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

I think you are partly correct. Some of the content on the Halloween page is either unhelpful or wrong. But I think the page itself should stay up since the Halloween decorations, some of the collectors, and costume brawl has already started. --71.23.175.71 15:27, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Some things missing?[edit]

I've been trying to fin the Horseman Vadir but he is not appearing where he should be. Anyone else having this problem? (Lacera1 03:43, 22 October 2010 (UTC))

He's not in game yet, which is why he shouldn't be on the page yet. The collectors appear gradually through the length of the event. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 04:00, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Gotcha. Thanks. I wasn't for sure. Never actually got to start the halloween event til it was the last day. lol (Lacera1 04:12, 22 October 2010 (UTC))

Thanks for that. I was getting confused too :D There are some horsemen there now but even tho i tell whoever asks they still can never find them, i was thinking of putting an extra column on the collector table with a general loaction? i.e. Horseman Vulganor - Between Merchants and LA Keep. Thoughts? Kraal FardaleUser Kraal Sig.png 08:15, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that's necessary. LA isn't that big of an outpost. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 09:00, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, ok, I disagree with myself now, I just had a quick look round most the celebration town and near enough all the horsemen are near the merchants :D

I added a small note about them appearing throughout the event, for anyone getting confused by this. RazoR39999 15:45, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
re: late appearances — I agree it's a good idea to indicate that not all are present (regardless of whether ANet intended for them to appear gradually or if it's a glitch, like the disappearance of the LA Keep guard when the pink dye trader was added).
re: noting the approximate locations — I think it's an excellent idea. LA is that big. People already have trouble finding some of the persistent NPCs, never mind the ones that appear only 2 weeks/year.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:56, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

They are grouped by what part in town they're in. more than that would require a map, or long descriptive text, and the latter would be undesirable. Backsword 16:00, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Long descriptive text? Like: near Bodrus the Merchant or the main steps by the skill trainer. We don't have to pinpoint the exact location to provide some help.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:10, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
If they don't know where Merchant's row is, they are unlikely to know where some specific NPC is, meaning we would then have to desribe where that NPC is, rather redundant. Backsword 16:37, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
When they all show up, I'll try uploading the maps for each on their respective pages. RazoR39999 16:44, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I disagree. (a) Merchant's row is easy to find because it has signposts visible from over 75% of LA. (b) Certain NPCs are useful as landmarks because almost everyone has call to know where they are (skills, merchant, lower storage). (c) I know lots of people that could not find the pink dye trader, but had no trouble understanding her relative location (e.g. compared to central fountain, or the LA Keep guard). This includes people who logon only 1x/month or less.
I'm not suggesting we need to aim for something that is completely unambiguous; I'm saying a short phrase that is helpful to over 20% of players (perhaps even 50%) is better than nothing.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:48, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Or you could tell them to hold down alt to highlight all the npc's so they can search for it manually, you know, like everybody else does? --Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 19:42, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
That's my point: it doesn't help to do that in LA or Drok's b/c they are big enough that one can't see every NPC from a single vantage point. It does help to know where to start or what other landmarks/NPC-locations are nearby. Where is the harm in adding a reference point? I agree, not everyone needs it, but those who do will be very appreciative.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:45, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Or you could let them have the fun of running around the town and finding them. Guys, please let's not clutter this up. It's worked for 5 years the way it is. The only difference this year is that they were all placed on the page from the start, rather than being added as they appear (which is how it's always been done in the past). -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 21:13, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
And, Wyn: it hasn't worked. People run around lost trying to determine if the NPC is missing or they just can't find it (both before and after they appear). How is saying, "near merchant row" cluttering things up?  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:51, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
And that goes back to the point I made initially when this page was copy/pasted wholesale from last year. If we didn't have the NPC's listed until they actually appeared in game, again, the way it's always been done, people wouldn't be looking for them in the first place. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 22:11, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't address that people have trouble finding NPCs after they appear. (And I agree with your original point, that we should not list all NPCs until they appear...or at least note that they haven't yet appeared.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:33, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Who exactly is having trouble finding them? Because the only people I've ever seen asking for the location of the npc's are people asking on here for npc's that aren't there yet (Which was what this topic was about) which could of been solved by Wyn's suggestion. Then there's the people who spam chat in places like LA and Spamadan every event, every year that when asked "Why not look on wiki?" respond with crap like "Oh, it takes too long" and so putting a note here about the npc's location on the page would be redundant. Oh and my original point still stands since however big you think LA is, it would still take less than a minute to search it, I even used that method to search for the pink dye trader, all you need to do is run by the gate near top storage to the exit near the bottom storage while holding alt and your guaranteed to find %95 of the npc's and it will only take you the grand total of 15 seconds, not exactly the endeavour you make it out to be --Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 10:34, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) For NPC with delayed arrival, what about adding a note on each NPC page?
For example for Horseman Sorcein:

This way we can keep the Halloween page clean and if someone is wondering why he cant find the npc can check npc's page.--SharkinuUser Sharkinu sig.png 12:02, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Something Wicked This Way Comes[edit]

It looks like the quests will be offered this year again. Voice of Grenth, King Frozenwind.

Mad King's Steward
I am the steward of Mad King Thorn, and I do his bidding. My undead liege has sensed foreboding tremors in the Underworld. He has also sensed seasonal baking in Royal Chef Culwich's kitchens, but I have already volunteered to investigate that. Milord's senses are selective but keen. This new intuition also requires attention. That's where a brave and skillful adventurer like you comes in. I would like you to act as an emissary of Mad King Thorn and go talk to his royal ally, King Frozenwind, who guards the Hall of Judgment. King Frozenwind may be able to shed some light on this mystery. We certainly hope it's nothing so troublesome as that Dhuum business from last year.
Anyway, travel quickly to the Underworld by speaking with the Voice of Grenth. Make sure you use a Transmogrifier Tonic so that the Voice recognizes you as an agent of Mad King Thorn. As this is a diplomatic mission, you must go alone. After you've talked to King Frozenwind, report your findings back to me. I'll see that you are well rewarded for your efforts.
Reward:
  • 5,000 Experience
  • 15 Transmogrifier Tonics
  • 50 Trick-or-Treat Bags
Voice of Grenth
An agent of Mad King Thorn wishes to enter the Underworld alone? Very well, if you think that's wise. The Reapers have gained some degree of control over the Underworld at the moment, so now is an opportune time to travel, relatively speaking.
Yes Accept: "I'm ready to travel to the Underworld."
No Decline: "Sorry, I don’t do déjà vu."
King Frozenwind
The emissary of the Mad King arrives! It is good to see you again, despite the circumstances. Or was that another who visited my hall last year? I am sorry, little one, but to me you all look similarly scrumptious.
Your lord is correct: dark things still stir in these depths. It is Dhuum, candy man! Death Inevitable is not so dormant as we believed. Let me tell you the tale again in case it has not stuck in your mind.
Long have the bards sung of Grenth's defeat of Dhuum, the former ruler of the Underworld. With the help of the rebellious Reapers, Grenth usurped Dhuum's throne. But the books and songs only tell part of the tale. You see, Dhuum was not fully destroyed; Grenth was simply not powerful enough to slay him. Instead, he forced Dhuum into a state of dormancy and imprisoned him within the Hall of Judgment, trapped behind massive enchanted doors and layers of divine magic. There Dhuum remained, slumbering... waiting. But his torpor is not so heavy that Dhuum does not occasionally wake.
Yes Why does he continue to wake? Is a little sleepwalking really that harmful?
Dhuum awakens fueled by dark powers, eager to reclaim his seat as The Final Judge, and set to cull the life from those who cheat death. Every time a creature in the Underworld dies, the release of life energy adds to Dhuum's vigor. Too many beings are being slain in the Underworld. Dhuum grows both strong and restless. I fear that one day he will come to his full strength, and then those doors will not hold. Where Dhuum walks, candy man, no soul is safe! Go, tell your master to heed my warning: Dhuum remains the most serious of threats!

I hope its not the same. Maybe they still need to change it like the costume brawl builds.--The Emmisary 15:24, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I haven't been able to find the Mad King's Steward yet, it also doesn't seem correct lorewise to have this quest again...--Mark, User talk:Markisbeest het Beest 16:22, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
But are these quests really the same ones as last year? The above text is different than it was last year so there's at least one thing that's not the same :D --weby [TALK] @ 16:30, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm guessing someone didn't do the quest last time, and left it in their log and has only just done it. On another note, I've still got the waiting game quest in my log, and the rewards seem to have increased, wiki says it gives 100 ToT bags as a reward, my log is saying 250 Tifa Shadowheart 20:22, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, if you have a quest you can finish it anytime you want (unless it was removed). As you see, they changed dialogues (objectives stay the same), so most likely you will get a chance to take it this year too. - 96.31.75.152 21:10, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
As of the Oct. 22 update, I was able to enter the Halloween instance of the UW for the Don't Fear the Reapers quest I had taken but never finished last year. I'll still need to wait for the Mad King's Steward to appear to accept the reward, and it will probably be impossible to take it again, but entry is now possible. Official site says the quests will be returning. But that doesn't mean they'll be changing. Which it seems they have - akin to the Dragon Festival quests. -- Konig/talk 22:19, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
I certainly hope Every Bit Helps doesn't come back. There's a lot of Captured Skeletons sitting on mules. 24.197.253.243 23:03, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
I have a guild mate who is using Everlasting Mobstoppers he kept from last year to capture skeletons right now in case that quest returns this Halloween. --Silver Edge 23:39, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Quests[edit]

I restarted gw for update, checked quest log at my sin, and it got the quest Don't Fear the Reapers. I done this one last year, and already got the Waiting game in my quest log. Is this a bug or is this supposed to happen? --Mr HaXx 23:52, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Definably a bug if you turned it in last year. Though the Waiting Game is not part of the chain of the Steward's quests, so if you didn't do that quest, you could still have gotten the Waiting Game quest. -- Konig/talk 22:18, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Well,I prefer it this way, since last year it was possible to get into a great team which could last for up to an hour, and sure it is fun to be in the team, but it sucks meeting a team like that --90.230.213.28 12:43, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
I think the original complainer exaggerates. I never PVP and I've been doing the costume brawl the last couple of days, and I've been on far more winning than losing teams. I've gotten hundreds of gamer points in just a couple of days. The common factor on winning teams is a strong leader, groups staying together, and called targets. Stick together, follow the leader if one emerges; if one doesn't, lead yourself if you know what you're doing (but don't ragequit if the team doesn't go the way you want them to -- sticking together and fighting together is more important than capturing a particular shrine). Do that, and the gamer points will come easily. -- bcstingg (talkcontribs) 14:16, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
^Very true. To assume 'leader' position I recommend pinging/drawing excessively on the compass. I easily won 600 points losing only 4 times in one sitting ~10 consecs. The losses were because idiots who treated CB like AB and insisted on winning by capping. Ox rider 09:16, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
I personally like the new setup, with randomised teams and the like. Makes for a more interesting experience. With respect to the "idiots who treated CB like AB" comment, I don't 100% agree with it. Some shrines are crucial in aiding a victory, the "Battle Cry" (25% IMS) being one of them :-) Donutdude 12:06, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

As with the 7 hero parties and the oppressor's weapons being added to the HoM, John Stumme has been overruling Linsey's changes one after another. It isn't so much that the "one-time only" was turned into a lie, but that it was reconsidered. If Linsey stayed as leader of the Live Team, they probably would have remained as one-time only - and the other two changes probably wouldn't have/will be been done either. -- Konig/talk 04:48, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Is there an ETA for the new quests? It's almost the 26th in Central Europe, and we usually get the updates around 9 PM our time (noon in Seattle). So makes me think they're gonna be a day late. RazoR39999 21:42, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

I'll take that back. I happened to choose an alt with quests left over from last Halloween, coincidentally the same quest as the one my first avatar just received. Sigh, procrastination rears it's ugly head... 66.170.212.17 01:03, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) No, but if you did the quests last year, the first three quests (Something Wicked Comes This Way, Don't Fear the Reapers, and The Skeleton Tide) will not appear. The Waiting Game and Every Bit Helps are repeatable, it would seem (or at least the Waiting Game re-appears if you did it last year). But all 09 quests are available again - with slightly changed dialogue. I think the first three not being able to be taken again is a bug, tbh. -- Konig/talk 01:04, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I had Waiting Game on my rit, from last year. Did that yesterday, then went back through the quests, but after Every Little Bit Helps it won't let me get Waiting Game again, just keeps doing Every Little Bit Helps. 203.118.171.225 22:16, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I did every quest last year except for Waiting Game, which is still in my quest log. Mad King's Steward just let me take Something Wicked (the 1st quest in the chain) so they must have changed something in a new build to let us get the quests again regardless of whether or not we did them last year. Yay. Undead minion 02:08, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Heads Up To Survivors[edit]

Though the quests in the UW aren't "survivor friendly" you can however use a character to capture mobstoppers and transfer them to your Survivor. By taking a quest and abandoning them, you can bulk up on your amount of mobstoppers. This is especially nice for those working on titles while waiting for the arrival of Guild Wars 2. The only major problem with this is not having enough time to farm enough of them, lol. Last year I got my paragon past rank 2 in ~15 minutes (due to zoning to turn in the mobstoppers). So good luck to you and hope y'all make Rank 3: Legendary Survivor! -- Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 01:09, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Overloading the market?[edit]

I got 2 stacks of tots through the new quest chains and another 2 stacks through skeleton farming. Anyone thinking that Anet is making it too easy to get tots that no one will need to buy them? Flaming Hot Chilli 07:37, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Is selling stuff all some of you guys ever think of? - Did it even occur to you that they weren't put into the game as another means for you to amass zillions of gold coins? - If you ask me, I think it is fantastic that people who actually cares to do the quests the devs put into the game also get a lot of fun rewards. --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 07:43, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Manassas. They're in the game for a fun part of an event not as some money making mechanic, regardless of how some people handle them. The reason that people buy them is mostly because of the titles the items provide points for. You need a lot of points for those titles so the fewer items people are forced to buy the better, especially for newer people that haven't had many events to collect them. Besides, 35-40k for one stack was a rediculous price anyway. On the "too easy to get" side... What is more fun when it comes to these Halloween quests, getting 10 ToTs per quest or what they actually give? We already know how players react to low reward numbers. - Clobimon Craiggy 16:05, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Also...you can't overload the market with something that's not even slightly rare to begin with. People buy ToT bags for convenience, not because they're hard to get. As a result, I see the market for these things staying exactly the same. --Irgendwer 16:40, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
If there was no ridiculous titles such as the Party and Sweet Tooth titles, or extremely expensive armor such as Obsidian(Why not 50 ecto instead of 120?), or if Zkeys would be easier to get, people wouldn't need to amass zillions of gold coins. On the other hand, I found the quests more fun then last year, especially the battle with Palawa Joko, but apparently not much people agree with the quests being more fun, because if you stand in ToA saying "LFG for Commandeering a Mortal Vessel", there's a big chance you will get a party search invite from people doing Skele Farm. Waar Kijk Je Naar 07:36, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Actually, by making ToT bags more plentiful, people won't need to amass or spend zillions of gold coins to acquire these titles. I personally think this is win-win for everyone BUT the farmers. Of course, I've always been against people "farming for profit" anyway. I know plenty of people who have acquired all the materials and gold they need to get whatever they want (myself included) without gouging the playerbase ridiculous amounts for things like sweets and party points. The idea that anyone was ever willing to pay more than 100g/point for either of them has always amazed me (oh, and I've never sold my own for more than that, I mostly give them away to my friends and guildies who are still working on titles.). -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 07:43, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, just like in meat-world economies. We should all make our own clothing from the fibres of cotton we grow in our backyards.... This does not hurt the farmers, seeing as they can make many more ToTs now to make up for the lower price. It only hurts people who stocked up on ToTs, who didn't sell them or use them from previous years. Honestly, they deserve to be hurt. And in defense of farming, efficient farmers enjoy the farming and enjoy the rewards they get for being efficient. Luckily, we enjoy their rewards as well. --70.90.155.138 18:23, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Personally, I think that rewards/content in general have/has gotten better since the change in leadership for the live team. I mean there are some very obvious fail areas that they need to take a further look at **cough**Mesmer**cough** But in general since Linsey left the team the small updates I have seen seem to have just gotten better. Perhaps she was being a go grind your ass off Nazi (kinda like the soup Nazi--NO REWARDS FOR YOU!). But with the change I see some positive things like, tots being more available, this of course could be because now I am after them but even so I have had over 10 stacks between farming and doing the quests on all my toons, Rogueonion 03:10, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
All im trying to say is that last year stacks were around 50k each. Now with the new quest chains and farming, you will be a fool to pay over 30k. Flaming Hot Chilli 05:53, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Exactly. You just pay 30k for a stack, open the bags, sell the contents for 50k, buy a new stack, open the bags, sell the contents for 50k, buy 2 stacks (30k ea), open them, sell the contents 100k, buy 3 stacks... etc etc. Easy cash. Waar Kijk Je Naar 11:20, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
I don't get what you guys are complaining about, the Every Bit Helps quest last year did the same thing. People were TRYING to sell stacks at 50k, trust me I did too, nobody was buying. Everyone this year has accepted the fact that ToTs are easy to farm and starting to sell them at 30k. You're about a year too late to complain. 67.149.248.3 21:31, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Town Change for Masks[edit]

For both the 19:01 UTC and 22:01 UTC events, i've been unable to locate MKT after moving from LA to Kamadan. I've popped into about 20 or so random, high-numbered kamadan districts after the LA event and no kamadan Mad King. Has anyone else been having this problem? Has Anet synched the MKT show up times?218.40.186.9 22:41, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Sad Ryoko

The MKT show times were always synched, unlike the Wintersday events.84.101.140.219 00:04, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I got both "masks" the first hour they came out, from ID6 LA to ID9 Kammy 24.243.7.67 00:08, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
they aren't 100% synched. We had people in our guild entering different districts after finishing the first LA visit. Some districts had no MKT; some did. I suspect that in some cases, the district formed after MKT started his visits, so he never went there. This could happen even in a lower numbered district (just because it is AED50 doesn't mean that it had anyone in it at the right time, even though AED70 might have...e.g. if people exited 50 looking for lower numbers).
I think your best bet is switching from an American to a non-American district. Anecdotally, at least, that seems to have the best chance of success.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:47, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I had 3 accounts that were in Kamadan that didn't get any hats over the night. Only one to receive hats was the LA one. I am disappoint. 81.15.60.6 08:09, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

It seems everyone's are gone. Also, I just submitted a bug forum post on guru. Also, the Halloween decorations are gone, and while I was trying to talk to the Steward, he literally disappeared right before my eyes. Halloween isn't supposed to be over for another 8(or is it 11?) hours. What's going on? If it's ended early, do you think we'll be having a redux like Wintersday 2008? Especially since everyone lost their Waiting Game quests... Does anyone think this might have something to do with the glitched items from the Mausoleum? Maybe they were just trying to desperately stop the farming while they figured out the bugs, and the only quick way they could figure out how to do that was to keep people from having the quest (Commandeering a Mortal Vessel). If this is the case, it's an incredibly sloppy way to go about it. If it isn't... well, that's my only theory besides "somebody screwed up badly". Let's hope to get official word soon. Ailina 20:10, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: disregard most of the above; I am a moron. I misread the time thing on the calendar, thinking that it was the midnight at the end of november 2 instead of the midnight at the beginning (yes, I know, they did state 12:01 am, that was my fault). However, that then brings the question of why the festival ran several hours longer than it presumably should have (the decorations etc only disappeared during the last few hours). And no, I am not complaining, I am wondering if this has to do with the quest issue. Ailina 20:23, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
If The Mausoleum is like other festival zones, you'd be kicked back to town if you tried to enter after the festival ends, even if you have the quest. 24.197.253.243 20:29, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Didn't work like that. Entered Majesty's quest just before noon Seattle time. Entered the Mausoleum just after noon. Didn't get kicked, but the quest was removed promptly at 12:01. Got one last chance to farm the area...and bupkus, so lost the xp.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:31, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

ALL the Festival quests gone from Log!; why different than 2009?[edit]

Brief background, update from support, and what next?

  • Background - While most are expected to be done during the event, The Waiting Game was introduced last year and was available since then to complete & redeem as the NPC who is required ( King Frozenwind ) is available all-year round since existing NPC for other Underworld quest. There is nothing special about him like the Mad king who is only available during special seasonal events. So like previously, I worked hard to get several characters advanced to Lion's Arch & Temple of Age and then through the quest chain in series to that point just so could save its completion (which is long/difficult doing all the Elite area quests) later with guildees as had done on my primary character before. However I was SHOCKED (& from Forum posts, others where too!) when ALL the Festival quests were removed on Nov 2nd. This new behavior was not announced or explained in any of the updates.
  • Support's reply : So I opened a ticket with them not sure if accident/bug only to get the following response form GM Lemoncorba "I looked in to the issue and have determined that it is not a bug, and that the game is working as designed. Former years' Halloween quests are now designed to be repeatable each year. This means that, by design, they will be removed from the individual player's quest log as soon as the festival ends making them like the other event quests." Then when I tried to explain that The Waiting Game was different and anyway to investigate at least a restore of it, I got "There are no plans to revert any of the Halloween quests to their past status." & "the support system is not an official venue to share your thoughts and ideas with the Development Team. Due to legal reasons, we are only able to officially accept suggestions about these changes through the Guild Wars Wiki"
  • Now what?

I am posting this open question to the community and hoping that not only will not get erased but maybe someone from the Development team will see. Thanks!
