Is it really usefull to have them sorted by size? Wouldn't it make more sense if they were sorted by region? Chriskang 09:22, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Well I dont mind either really. Having them sorted by level gives an approximation of the duration/difficulty of the dungeon. However, the dungeon article only had level and no region info when I made the template so I didnt really consider that ;-) --Xeeron 09:37, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
well, but it should be uniform, so i'd also like them to be moved to Template:Dungeons nav. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 11:09, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't think anyone will disagree to that, if you want to change it. --Xeeron 11:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Rewritten dungeon nav - feedback please[edit]

It is ordered by region instead of size (thus it roughly follows the Master Dungeon Guide's order). It also has links to all the related quests (required quests for the dungeon as well as primary quests taking place in the same location). That way we can use it both in the dungeon article and in the quest articles, nicely linking anything interesting in one place.

Opinions? Tub 14:28, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

The icons and the related quests just makes the nav look chaotic imo. I do like how its listed via location rather than levels though. -- Konig/talk 19:42, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Agree the icons don't look very good. Small-size text would probably look better, like this: (quest). You don't really need the "primary quest" thing either; while some of them take place in dungeons, they don't have much to do with each other. If anything, listing the primary quests in the nav might confuse people who are filling their Hero's Handbook or doing the storyline. -- Hong 10:56, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Textual links to the quests have a different problem: now it's a wall of text. Are you sure this is an improvement? Tub 11:12, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
It's best to remove the primary quest bit altogether. A mere re-organization based on location (and order in the book) rather than by level is all that would be needed for improvements. -- Konig/talk 14:17, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
I agree with the above comments - breaking it down by location is much more user-friendly, but adding the extra primary quests is just overwhelming. I think this location break-down is much better suited for the wiki. Blue Clouded 22:30, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
I've removed the primary quest icons from the first one. The primary quests were never present in the second one, so I'm not sure why that point came up again. Tub 11:22, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Post-update comments[edit]

I prefer the current navbar. The proposed navbars attempt to provide article-like content, which results in a difficult to read jumble rather than an easy to click navigation tool (if I want the MD Guide's order, I go to that article). I also find it distracting to divide by region; I have more interest in a remind of which dungeons are relatively quick (one level? or two?) vs knowing which outpost to leave from. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 14:44, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

If you want to use a non-alphabetic sort, please use which reputation points are awarded; no one I know uses region to distinguish between the dungeons. (I'm not sure that it's necessary to sort at all, but I can see some benefits to shorter lists). I also think that the quest names belong below the dungeon name (rather than to the right) — that would make it easier to scan names vs quests (and make it look less cluttered).

Thanks again for posting more ideas. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:36, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Is there a way to design a navbar incude/exclude/display dungeons by level/region/quest/rep reward? --Falconeye 04:45, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't understand what you are suggesting. Could you state what problem it is that you are trying to solve? (Or what benefit you are hoping to achieve.) Thanks. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:21, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Alternative version for Dungeon quests specific[edit]

Can we have another navigation bar but with the Dungeon quests? User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 16:37, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Zzz.. I think I actually liked the idea of the above nav, I wonder if some alternative images might work instead though. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 17:32, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Dungeons
One-level: Ooze Pit Fronis Irontoe's Lair Secret Lair of the Snowmen
Two-level: Arachni's Haunt Bogroot Growths Sepulchre of Dragrimmar
Three-level: Bloodstone Caves Catacombs of Kathandrax Cathedral of Flames Darkrime Delves Heart of the Shiverpeaks Oola's Lab Raven's Point Rragar's Menagerie Shards of Orr Vloxen Excavations
Five-level: Frostmaw's Burrows Slavers' Exile

I like it. If it's finished and doesn't need any touches, we shall propose this in the Dungeon's Formatting Guideline. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 07:43, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Its just the mainspace template with dungeon names linking to dungeon quests :/ really I'm not sure why you would be using the dungeon quest page to access another dungeon quest page... I think it would be better to focus our efforts on finding a way to clearly link back to the Dungeon page from the dungeon quest pages. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 11:07, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
I don't really like a template where the link targets and link descriptions don't match. What's the use case, how would it help our readers?
If it's just about linking back to the dungeon, IMHO the intro sentence would be the perfect place, e.g. on Giriff's War it says "Help Giriff fight the Gokir tribe". Change to "Traverse the Bogroot Growths dungeon to help Giriff fight the Gokir tribe." or something, repeat 17 times, done. Tub 12:07, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
I had the idea because I am doing Dungeons atm to fill up several Master Dungeon Guides and thought that an exclusive navbar would be more practical. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 13:49, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
