Damage over time
From Guild Wars Wiki
(Redirected from Dot)
Damage over time, or DoT, is a term which means dealing damage not at once but over a given time period. Skills which deal damage in this manner can do so in discrete increments or by health degeneration.
- Examples of a discrete increment DoTs include Fire Storm and Balthazar's Aura. Each increment of damage can be mitigated by damage reduction skills such as Shielding Hands. Skills which deal this type of damage are usually AoE skills.
- Examples of health degeneration include the skill Reaper's Mark and the condition bleeding. Since health degeneration is not considered "damage," it ignores armor and other damage reduction skills.
