Sitting Behind A Firewall

Ok so on the weekends i ussually am at work which has wifi access however the firewall im behind wont allow me to connect to guildwars servers so i was wondering if there was anything that would allow me to connect cause being a stage hand has ALOT of downtime --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:KellyLSB (talk).

You might try Proxifier. Its only good for 30 days, but its a fairly nice proxy tunnler. I use it occasionally when I need to check stuff on GW at school. -- Wandering Traveler 23:13, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

install factions

I have prophecies and nightfall on my computer and want to add Factions. When I insert disk 1 of Factions, instead of "install game" I get "repair installation". You don't have to install anything else. All the campaigns (and the expansion) share the same files (stored inside your Gw.dat file).

What prevents players from accessing other campaigns is their account (which just allows them to visit certain areas).

To upgrade your account, simple load the game (with your existing login/password) and choose "Edit Account" > "Manage Access Keys" > "Add Key".

Your account info (what campaigns you own, what characters you've created, what items you have, what missions you've done, etc) is stored in the server, not in your computer. --NIN37 05:25, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Downloading

Graphic card Error

I have all the campaigns of guild wars, but when I try to go to certain towns/outposts in eye of the north and vabbi in nightfall guild wars freezes and it says i have a graphics error and I have a up to date graphics card and the worst part about it is that the charictor I was on, every time i try to get back on that charictor the same thing happens. so basicly i cant get on the charictor anymore. So please if this has happened to anyone else befor or you just know how to fix this problem please tell me. Please check this link for info about unsupported Graphic Cards (which seems to be your problem).

If upgrading your Display Driver and installing DirectX 8 (or 9) does not solve your problem, sorry, but you might have to replace your Video Card for a newer one.

This free and simple test might also be of use to you. Just make sure you choose "GuildWars: 'Eye of the North'" and not one of the other GuildWars options, as GW:EN is the most graphic-intensive incarnation of GWs. Castellan Puuba will not give me the next quest after Battle Preparations

I purchased Guild Wars Trilogy this weekend. I have Phropies and Eye of The North and I am already at level 20. I was able to load the trilogy and get as far as Battle Preparations. When I try to complete the quest by talking to Castellan Puuba in the Sunspear Great Hall he tells me to come back when I am ready. The game does not give me a new quest. The mission Star remains on Castellan.
What do I need to do. Do I need to have a certain level in Nightfall? Do I need to have a specfic Hero or Hench man in my party? Should I proceed ahead to Securing Champion's Dawn even though it does not show up on my quest log when I hit L? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.103.134.222 (talk).

During Command Training, if you do not end that properly it often gets stuck. Go back to Churrhir Fields and see if Tactician Haj is still there. If he is, then you have not completed that portion. If that doesn't work, I dont' know what to tell you.

"Incoming" vs. "Fall Back"

The Elite Paragon move "Incoming" was changed from upping armor stats to gaining health while moving faster. The non-elite Paragon move "Fall Back" is a duplicate of the elite move "Incoming." Is this a mistake on wiki or anomaly in GW?

Not entirely a duplicate, if you look closely. "Fall Back!" ends when the player attacks, while "Incoming!" doesn't have this clause, allowing it to be used more effectively during fights. So it's neither a mistake on the wiki nor an anomaly in GW, it's meant to be that way (much like Natural Stride and Escape are effectively duplicates, but the non-elite Natural Stride has an ending clause). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 01:38, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Gaining Images

My guild keeps asking me about getting all the images for guild wars so they do not have to keep loading them when ever they go into a new explorable area. I told them there should be a page about it on Wiki, but i cant find it. So, please post a section in the Upload File tab so it would be easier for them to follow and understand what they are about to do. If im not mistaken, its /image or -image. not sure which is correct. please clerify this. Can someone help me make a mod?

Personally, I like this page: List of Eye of the North primary quests. It shows all primary quests you have to do in order to beat the game in a flowchart form.

Check your Quest Log to see which one you're having a hard time with and read its corresponding article.

Keep in mind that The Missing Vanguard quest-chain must be done in sequence, so, next quest will not become available until you've completed the previous one (you can redo repeatable quests later, but that's another story :P). --NIN37 13:41, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Can't get necromancer dragon gauntlets dark like the wiki pic

I've tried pretty much every dye and a lot of combos but I can't get my dragon gauntlets to look like the pic on this fine website right here. I spent the last week and a half of my life and 50k on them,so if anyone can take a look at the picture and give me a suggestion here or in game it would be greatly appreciated.--Suffering Lord 11:44, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

The only parts of the Dragon Gauntlets you can long "ears" and the small markings down the middle as shown in the dye chart. Obviously to make these parts the darkest you need to use black dye. If for some reason the undyeable area does not look like the image then that is mostly likely your graphics settings. You can fix/change this by changing the Gamma setting under Options, Graphics (note this can only be changed in full screen mode). If you're in windowed mode you will need to change the gamma/contrast/brightness settings on your graphics card and/or monitor.- TheRave (talk) 12:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Computer Setup

Ok, I've got a satalite internet connection, I know about the latency issue. However, When I hook my Laptop upto the same modem using the same cable I'm able to login and start playing. So you're saying you have a satellite connection, and two computers, a desktop and a laptop, right. The laptop can play just fine, the desktop won't connect or something? Any more info would help, I'm just assuming that's what the problem is.

From the sounds of it, you're not having any trouble connecting to Guild Wars with your internet connection, since your laptop is working. The problem's probably in the desktop then; sounds like a problem with a firewall blocking the program or blocking one of the ports the game uses, not a problem with your satellite setup.

Your desktop computer can connect to the internet just fine otherwise, right? Do you have different firewall programs on your desktop and your laptop? I'd look at those, probably the problem is in there. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 03:13, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Have you tried contacting support as suggested before? I'm afraid there isn't much we can do to help you.

Well, without more detailed info, best I could suggest would be to check your computer and LAN: make sure your computer's NIC (network interface card) is working properly (try plugging it elsewhere to see if it connects), check your firewall settings (see if both your PC and laptop shares same/similar configurations) and check your modem (perhaps it will block anything other than your laptop's network card). Run "ipconfig" or similar tool to see if both your machines get similar IP addresses (either an internal IP such as 192.168.x.x and 10.x.x.x; or a real IP, such as 67.x.x.x).

Can your computer connect to the internet (e-mail, sites, etc) at all? If you're only having problems with Guild Wars, maybe support could aid you; if you're having problems elsewhere, contacting your ISP would be a better idea. --NIN37 07:25, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

I went thru the support both chat and email and all that to no avail, I've shut down my firewalls to no effect and other than that I can't figure it out. Heroes

I dont mean to be a mean person, but all i want to know is that, because there is 10 professions in the guild wars game, im just woundering how come there is a male and female for every single profession except for the Elemtnalist when here there is only male?

There are female Elementalists. Where did you get that idea? Oh wait, you are not talking about the player character but about the Heroes that accompany you. Well, technically Razah is genderless, so there also isn't a Male Ritualist. But I don't know why all Ele's are male. Note the title, he meant there are no female elementalist heroes, Vekk, Zhed and Sousuke are all male. That being said, we are players here helping people with the game by answering their questions, your question could only be answered by the relevant designer or developer. It is probably a coincidence more than anything, before EotN there was only one hero from some professions, I doubt the "one of each sex" was planned. Also, how do you know Zhed isn't a girl? More than likely you used superior or major runes. Each superior or major runes (with very few exceptions) will reduce your HP (health) by a rather decent-sized chunk. --Dragon Nataku 22:35, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

In answer to your question, if you applied Superior runes, each rune subtracts 75 from your HP. Try using a combination of minor (no hp loss)/major (loss of 35 hp)/superior runes (loss of 75 hp), as well as applying a vigor rune (hp +30/41/50) and potentially some Vitae (hp +10) runes that all add HP. -- Wyn 22:56, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Some Weapon upgrades and Insignias can also affect your total HP.

Morale Boost and Death Penalty will change your total HP prior to any modifier; so, if you're level 20 (480HP), have -60% DP (480 - 288 = 192) and have three or more Superior Runes (192 - 75 - 75 - 75 = -33), you'll end up with just 1 HP (since creatures cannot have negative HP). --NIN37 08:07, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

I am trying to get ranger elites, as ranger being my secondary. I am under the impression it can be done but does not seem to work for me.

I have been trying to get this elite but the skill has not been there in the last three tries. Can i get this elite? if so, how? thank you

Acquisition Signet of Capture

The Facet of Nature is in the second section of the Dragon's Lair mission (the third if you count the entryway). In order to reach the Facet of Nature's section, you need to defeat the Facet of Light and go through the portal which opens after it is defeated. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 02:14, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

From Signet of Capture page:

• Obtain the Signet of Capture
• Add the Signet of Capture to the players skill bar
• Find an appropriate boss (see the elite location list)
• Kill the boss
• In the vicinity of the boss, activate Signet of Capture.
• A panel showing the skills available for any dead bosses in the area will then be shown. Clicking the available skill and capture will cause the Signet of Capture to be replaced with the new skill.

So, make sure you're still Ranger secondary, have Signet of Capture in your skill bar, enter the mission/explorable area, find the boss you want the skill from (note that, in Prophecies, some bosses will not always spawn), beat the boss and use the Signet of Capture nearby its corpse.

Note that walking through portals in The Dragon's Lair mission will teleport your party away from the dead boss, so make sure you tell your teammates you're willing to capture such skill beforehand.

Question: have you managed to capture any Elite skill from your primary profession yet? If so, it should be pretty much the same thing. --NIN37 08:18, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

yes, I have all my ele elites. "In the vicinity of the boss, activate Signet of Capture." this i didn't do because normally u see the skill dropped & the skill was not dropped at all, but i will try again. The facet of nature is always there, but maybe without the skill. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "the skill dropped," but just try to use the Signet of Capture once Facet of Nature is dead anyway? If you've not been using the signet, then obviously you cannot get the skill. qwest The Dejarin Estates

Is it possible you have not completed The Great Escape? You need to have Koss available for other quests, and he remains captured until that one quest is finished. That's all I can think of right now.

Have you check The Dejarin Estate and its sub-quests pages? Estate Planning, Tendering an Offer, The Young Lady Vanishes and Family Ties.

Each page has info about the quest itself, including who to talk to, what to do and who gives the quest (check the "infobox" at the top right corner of the page, below quest picture).

Keep in mind that 3 out 4 quests have a "required hero: Koss" requirement, meaning you'll have to add Koss to your party before leaving outpost.

Oh, and since they're all "secondary quests", they're not required for missions.

Also, (about the wiki), there's a little "[edit]" link next to each section (at the far right), so use it to update your previous question. --NIN37 08:56, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Hi Again, Yes I have checked that as well. And yes Koss has been in my party everytime I have tried. But it also will not let me do the mission for that area. So something must be missing or out of place. Now when it shows it( The dejarin estates)on the wiki page the qwest, it does not show pogahn passage as a mission but a town. • The Dejarin Estate is a quest that takes place in Dejarin Estate and nearby explorable areas.

You need Koss to do most of the sub-quests.

• Pogahn Passage is a mission that takes place in the outpost.

You need Margrid the Sly (and either done No Me, No Kormir or beaten Rilohn Refuge) to start the mission.

A quest named Gain Margrid will be available once you've finished Nightfall.

What is the best second job for an offensive sword warrior??
