Sacnoth Valley is a wild and mountainous area in the Charr Homelands. The charr maintain a heavily fortified stronghold in the northwest (the location for Assault on the Stronghold mission). Large tribes of grawl dominate the northeast and southwest. Towards the southeastern corner one will find large a number of elementals, most notable amongst them are the fire elementals that created an inferno out of a forest in the southeast corner.

There are two dungeon entrances in the area; Rragar's Menagerie to the southwest, and Catacombs of Kathandrax to the southeast.

Notes[edit]

  • This is the only location where players can tame a Raven.
  • The charr stronghold is inaccessible if any party member has not completed Assault on the Stronghold. It is possible to have completed Assault on the Stronghold without having completed the other charr missions in the same mode (by alternating Normal and Hard mode), in which case the stronghold will also be inaccessible.
  • Vanquisher runs of this area without active quests require defeating around 429 foes. Including quest influences, it has been reported to range from 390 to 468 foes.
    • The southeastern area is teeming with Burning Spirits and Flowstone Elementals, making it arguably the most dangerous part due to the high number of spells dealing AoE fire damage.
    • There are four bosses in the Charr stronghold (after completion of Assault on the Stronghold), which makes it worth saving until you have a Boss Bounty. Approach from the west or south, to avoid the well-defended eastern entrance (Charr Seekers stand atop the ridge, making it hard to get close without taking significant damage).
    • Fozzy Yeoryios is in a group with a lot of potent healing; it can be difficult to kill them without the proper counters.
    • As with any area in the Charr Homelands, if at least two player characters are in the party, several Siege Devourer can be mounted which can make vanquishing much easier.
    • For a complete Vanquish all worms in the southwest corner have to be killed.
Anomaly Anomaly. The flaming spirits surrounding Borrguus Blisterbark will shout phrases normally attributed to the Charr, e.g. "For the warband!".
Bug Bug.After extended periods of time, the animation of the fire in the burning forest will freeze and will not resume until you have exited and restarted the game.

Trivia[edit]

Gw2logo.png The Guild Wars 2 Wiki has an article on Sacnoth Stream.
  • Sacnoth might be a reference to the pulp-fiction fantasy Short Story, "The Fortress Unvanquishable Save for Sacnoth" by Lord Dunsany in which Sacnoth is a magical sword. The story exists within the public domain, and can be read here (WikiSource)
  • Sacnoth Valley may be named after Sacnoth, a defunct Japanese video game developer.
