Background[edit]
The son of Duke Lormar, a wealthy ascalonian nobleman, Forweg was raised in north ascalon, which was far from the threats of the guild wars.
These peaceful lands were rulled by the Lormar family for generations. When the charr invaded ascalon the northlands were the charr's first target, soon Duke Lormar's forces were called to halt the charr invasion from reaching Surmia.
To protect his family, duke Lormar sent his wife and Forweg to Ascalon City which was protected by the great northern wall.
Forweg was trained in combat at the Ascalon Academy, he favoured the bow over the other weapons and soon became a skilled marksman.
When he was eighteen years old, a messenger from the northlands arrived to Ascalon City bearing grave news; the northlands were lost to the charr, all the human cities were burnt and destroyed and duke Lormar killed in battle.
In order to avenge his father's death Forweg led a large battalion to retake Surmia from the charr's hands.
On their way to Surmia they were ambushed by charr, they fought bravely but the charr outnumbered them, Forweg, knowing the battle was lost ordered his troops to retreat. As the remaining forces escaped the battle Forweg was hit by a siege devourer and lost consciousness.
When he awoke, he was all alone surrounded by the corpses of his dead comrades. He had no place to go, Ascalon City was too far away and there were charr patrols everywhere.
He found sanctuary in a forest nearby where he hide from the charr for two years.
During these years in the forest, he'd learned to survive in the wilderness and to communicate with nature's spirits.
After ambushing a small charr patrol Forweg found a map of a secret passage to Ascalon, a passage used by the charr to send spies and scouts through the great northern wall, it was an underground passage, probably one of the many entrances to the catacombs; a large network of tombs which was connected to several places in the kingdom of Ascalon.
The passage was safe from charr but it was no less dangerous; it was infested with evil spirits of the dead.
With the blessing of Melandru he ventured into the dark labyrinths of the catacombs.
It is unknown whether it was just luck or Melandru herself guiding him, he found a portal stone used by ancient mages for quick travels, as he touched the stone he's found himself in front of the entrance to Ashford Abbey, he was home.
When he was back in Ascalon City he joined Prince Rurik's vanguard and helped to defend Ascalon from the charr invasion, he was named then Cuthalion meaning; Strongbow.
