The Lahtenda Bog is a swampy lowland area situated in the southwestern corner of the island of Istan. It is dotted with old ruins, including old Sunspear crypts and tombs, that suggest that the area may once have been drier. Now it is a relatively dangerous place populated by large numbers of Insects, groups of Skale, hidden Mandragors, and Skree harpies. Corsairs are also known to frequently carry out their illegal activities in this area.

Getting there[edit]

Can only be accessed via the Blacktide Den outpost, even without completing the Blacktide Den mission beforehand. The primary quest War Preparations (Ghost Reconnaissance) will lead Nightfall characters to this area.

Notes[edit]

  • This is one of the few areas in Guild Wars where the ambient environment of the area resembles nighttime.
  • If a character completes the mission Blacktide Den and never actually enters the area separately, the label will not appear on their map. Keep this in mind when going for the Vanquisher and Cartographer titles.
  • Complete exploration of this area contributes approximately 2.5% to the Elonian Cartographer title track.
  • Vanquisher runs of this area without active quests require defeating around 401 foes. Including quest influences, it has been reported to range from 356 to 611 foes.
    • Most, if not all, of the quests that take place here increase the total number of foes. The master difficulty quest What Do You Do with a Drunken Shauben? in particular will increase the total number of foes by at least a hundred.
    • Habab the merchant is available if your bags are starting to get full.
    • Condition removal skills will come in handy here, due to the foes inflicting a variety of conditions, including disease, bleeding, and cripple.
    • There are a lot of hidden Mandragors throughout this area, especially the northern half.
    • Vanquishing this area up to 10 times on an Elonian Support weekly bonus will allow any character to achieve Legendary Spearmarshal.

Trivia[edit]

  • The map included in the collector's edition of Nightfall named this area "Lahtendi Bog" instead. It is not known if the name was changed in the last minute or if it was a printing error.
