Minions are magical servants created from the remains of our enemies and, sadly, at times our friends. Summoning a minion "exploits" the corpse, in essence using it up. Minions are unstable, so they will constantly lose health until they collapse into a pile of useless fodder. Whenever you control a minion you will see an icon appear. Inside that icon will be a number representing how many minions you control. Your death magic [sic] attribute directly affects how many minions you may control at any one time. You can control two minions plus one additional minion for every two ranks of Death Magic you have.

- Minions will always attack foes in their Danger Zone, sometimes aggroing groups that the player might have wanted to avoid.
- They will not attack a called target, but they will go after targets that their master is attacking. (Minions do not consider spells to be attacks.)
- Minions do not flee from area of effect damage.
- Minions will not retreat from battle regardless of their master's actions.
- Minions typically have an armour of 3.75 × level + 5, giving them an armour rating of 80 at level 20. The exception to this is Bone Fiends who instead use 2.84 × level + 3.1
- Minions suffer accelerating health degeneration, starting at 1 pip at creation and increasing by 1 pip every 20 seconds.
- Minions become masterless upon the death of their master; these minions are hostile to all creatures (except others that became masterless at the same time). These minions remain masterless even if the former master is resurrected.
- Minions are allies, not party members; they are not affected by party skills, such as Heal Party or Order of Pain.
- Minions are not fleshy, with the exception of Flesh Golems.
- Minions do not count as foes for the purposes of Vanquishing.
- Minions are affected by Weapon spells, though there is no visual indication of this in the game.
- Minions are not teleported with players during cinematics when players are moved from their initial locations.
- Minions gain experience and can level up if they survive long enough.
- Minions can be affected by environment effects such as Fount Of Maguuma and Aura of the Bloodstone.
- Minions are not infused against Spectral Agony.
- Minions can be affected by knock down.
- Minions are especially vulnerable to critical hits, since minions tend to be lower level than their foes.
- Melee minions attack once per 3.10 seconds and Bone Fiends attack once per 1.86 seconds.
- Minions have energy, even though they don't use it.

- Minions are undead summoned creatures:
- They almost always take full damage from Wastrel's Demise and Wastrel's Worry because they never use skills (and cannot self-remove those hexes). Since they often cluster, those skills often do high damage against their allies.
- Necromancers can gain control of enemy minions via Verata's Aura or Verata's Gaze.
