Trilogy

Hello Fellow users. I have campaign and Eye of the North. I bought Trilogy for Factions and Nightfall. It also has the campaign version. Can I use the access key for trilogy to unlock Factions and Nightfall? Will that screw me up with the other that I have going on? Thank you.

It should just add NF and Factions to your account and ignore the overlapping Prophecies. And by "should" I mean "unless the server you're connected to explodes". ··· Danny Pew Pew 23:25, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
It'll warn you that part of the key you're adding, the "Prophecies" campaign part (That's the name of the campaign in the original Guild Wars game), will be wasted. But nothing bad will happen if you add that key, don't worry. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 00:44, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

character height

how can i without recreatin a copy of my character find out its height to put in character pages ? 127.0.0.1 02:09, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

trial coce character

Can i keep running the same character after the trial time is over

yes you can if you get another real code and add it to your 'trial account' 127.0.0.1 02:13, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
If you get a code with the same campaign as you are running your trial on, then yes. However, if you just get codes for other campaigns, It might be hard to get any armor, etc. in that current campaign. You can still keep that character though. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 02:46, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Your character is there to stay, but if have to buy the same campaign as the one you created that character it to play it. If you buy a different one, then you'll be able to create new characters, and your old trial character will still be there, but the game will prompt you to buy the right campaign if you want to play him. Most Unlucky farmer ever?

Hi, im not here to complain about the 150 times in a row that i killed byzzr wingmender in hard mode and recieved only xp as a reward (no drop). But rather to ask if anyone knows the fromula that the game uses to dictate what drops and how often. For example, this wiki provides the formula for lockpick retention (Character level / 2) + (3 * Treasure Hunter ranks) + (2 * Lucky ranks) = %. If someone could give me the formula for the chances of a gold or rare item to drop from a boss in hard mode I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time. --24.30.179.254 07:53, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

If you weren't here to complain about it, you wouldn't have mentioned it. Regardless, nobody really knows exactly how the game calculates drops, it's one of those things no one has cared enough to figure out on their own and which ANet doesn't tell us, presumably because then people would know how to farm. In any event, the answer is close enough to "it's random" that you don't need to worry about much besides that. I will suggest, however, that you kill other things before a boss, as there is reason for some people (but not me) to believe that your first few drops in each zone are usually terrible. –Jette User Jette awesome.png 08:13, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
I also understand that the drop rates kick in after a few minutes, not immediately. So it could be that as he's quite close to the zone entrance, you're killing him before his rates are active. I experienced this when trying to farm Gargoyle Skulls in The Catacombs. I was getting none, but after waiting a few mins as instructed by a guildy, they started dropping a lot for frequently. Worth a try? Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 08:37, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
I've also heard some theory about drops being related to when you enter the area, like they're randomized based on the time when you enter. Saw a screenshot of two guys who entered an instance at the same time and vanquished the whole thing, and their drops were nearly identical. If that's the case it's pretty much randomized, and who knows if they include the date in that random timer. --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 20:53, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

THE MISSING VANGAURD

can some one please help me on the missing vanguardas i have done it in the wrong order

it comes up in 5 parts and i have done 2,3,4 and i have missed the first one

now i cant do it and that goes for against the destroyers quest

when i try to do it it just tells me to goto doom lore shrine and talk to bonwar but it doesnt do anything

1 search for the ebon vanguard

2 speak to gwen - COMPLETED

3 travel to longeyes ledge - COMPLETED

4 free pyres war band - COMPLETED

5 free the remaining vanguard

i cant cancel the quest and i have tried everything --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.155.240.194 (talk).

You need to go and do Search for the Ebon Vanguard. de Kooning 16:44, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

i have done that and the clothes and helet and fire are still there but it still wont let me cross of the top one as in number one --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.155.240.194 (talk).

Can you please take off the caps-lock? It's annoying. Did you do Against the Charr as well? de Kooning 17:01, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Turn off your freaking Caps Lock, or no one else will reply. If you already did Against the Charr and are in Doomlore Shrine then talk to Gron Fierceclaw and follow up with Warband of Brothers. After that you do Assault on the Stronghold (from Roan Fierceheart in Dalada Uplands). See Captain Langmar after that and you're done with that quest. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 17:02, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

caps-locks off sorry about that. i have done Against the Charr and i will give the other part ago later i hope that works

Can i just say a big thank you for the help Poki you are a god mate and with this knowledge i can help others but i think wiki should leave something about this in the quest the missing vanguards for others to see. thank you again

It's very, very easy to find what quest goes after or before what in a quest chain. If you go to the Against the Charr page, you'll find "Preceded by" and "Followed by" and you can use that to find what came before and what to do next.
You might also like the Mission article, more specifically the links at the bottom. You would find the list of Eye of the North primary quests. Not the priestliest article on the wiki, but... Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 22:16, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Add another account

I have had an account for several years. I would like to know how to add another account. My wife would like to be able to play in my game on a separate account at the same that I am playing. Can you tell us how to do this? We have 2 computers.I had GW on an old computer and transferred it onto a new computer so it is still on both computers if this makes any difference.Thank you74.229.228.95 16:00, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Just buy a new copy, you'll create a new account, with a new login/password. You'll still be able to play either one on any computer, with the appropriate login. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 16:07, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Switching an account to diffrent Copmuter??

I had a Hewlett-Packard Pc and just bought a Dell, I have Prophacies, and Night Fall on an account for the Hewlett that I bought at a store, I no longer have the access key card's for either, is there a way to transfer my account that has Prophacies and Night Fall to my new PC? I am NOT able to view my account access key's!! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Circle of the Nine (talk).

Just use the same login information, your "account" is tied to that, not the computer or installation. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 18:02, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Just to add a little more detail to Freedom Bound's answer for education's sake. Once a key is activated for an account, that access key is stored server-side for that account. There is only three ways I can think of that someone would not be able to access their account: Being banned, account hacked, or ANet shutting down their Guild Wars servers. — Gares 18:44, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

HA Grouping

I dunno if I can or if this is the right place for this, but I would like to form an HA group. I am most comfortable playing in order:

Ele, Mes, Monk, Rit, Sin, and Necro.

other classes I wouldn't recommend me to play. I would like there to be no rank requirements, the whole point for me is to try and get my rank up so that I can get to R5 since no one takes anything lower anymore... I have HA'ed well in the past however rank progression is going really slowly.

Runes, insignias and inscriptions

Hi, I'm new to Guildwars and i have a several questions in regards to runes, insignias and inscriptions. My questions are:

1. Say you have a piece of armour, a helmet and you also have a warrior minor rune of absorption, how many times can you apply this type of rune onto this piece of equipment.

2. If you can apply the rune only once onto this helmet, is it only the helmet that gets the effect or do other parts also get the effect.

3. Say you have a another piece of armor, such as the leg piece, if you have a warrior minor rune of absorption, a rune of superior vigor, a rune of vitae, a rune of attunement, and a rune of clarity, can you apply all these runes onto the leggings. Or can you only apply one type of profession specific rune and one type of profession independent rune?

4. Can insignias be applied to a shield?

5. Can insignias be applied onto every amour piece (excluding max collector items and festival hats).

6. Can you apply all core insignias onto one single piece of equipment?

7. Can you apply all of a professions insignias onto a single piece of equipment or, is it only one type of profession insignia and one type of core insignia.

8. Can you only apply one axe haft and one axe grip onto an axe?

9. Last question is, can you only apply one type of inscription onto a weapon or shield or can you apply two types onto a weapon or shield?

Syrrux 14:24 6/12/09 --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Syrrux (talk).

1: Once. New insignias will overwrite old insignias, same for runes.
2: Only that piece gets the bonus. You can read more about how runes/insignias stack with each otheron Rune and Insignia.
3: You can only apply one rune to one piece of armor, but there is no limit to which kinds of runes you can have on all 5 pieces (you can use 5 dreadnaught insignias or 5 vitae runes for example)
4: No, but Inscriptions can. They're pretty much the same thing.
5: Yes.
6: No. One per armor piece.
7: See previous answers.
8: Yes, one haft and one grip.
9: Weapons have three mods you can put on them. Their names vary depending on the item (but they all use inscriptions). Shields can have only a handle and an inscription.
You might want to read up on all the articles I linked to. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 03:33, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Answers
1. Only once see Rune for more information.
2. I believe it is the helmet that recieves the effect. See Rune of Absorption for more information.
3. You can only apply one of each. (eg. Superior Vigor and Minor Rune of Absorption and the Insignia).
4. No. See Insignia for more information.
5. Yes
6. No
7. No only one insignias from the main profession and only one insignis per piece of armor.
8. Yes axe only has two mods. See Axe for more information
9. Only one inscription per weapon/shield. See Inscription for more information. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 03:37, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Sidenote: Some weapons, like most of the ones found in Prophecies and Factions, will not take inscriptions. The only ones that will take an inscription upgrade will say Inscription: (whatever it is) or Inscription: None in the description if you mouse-over the weapon. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 18:39, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

GW on Windows 7?

Can Guild Wars run on windows 7? I am having problem getting it to install on new pc. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.89.202.162 (talk).

Yes it can I know a couple people who play GW on Windows 7. What problems are you having? If you are getting error messages what are they? User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 04:44, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
If you are installing it from the cd, rather than allowing the setup.exe to autorun, browse to the directory and right click on it to "Run as administrator". Same if you have downloaded the client. This is often an issue when installing some software. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 05:05, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

japan guild

Hi i have been trying to create a japan guild i have a friend with japan account that will do it but i can't find anywhere rules on creating guild i know it has to be max 16 char that's all i know and what letters from japan can i use? thank you--X-o-b-b-i-t 15:49, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

As far as I know, you can use any Japanese characters (kana or kanji) as long as the guild tag doesn't exceed four characters. The guild name itself, I'm not sure about. Probably 16 as you said. Your friend could just type a bunch of characters into the guild name field and see how many he can type in before it doesn't let him type anymore, without hitting Create Guild. -Dragon Nataku talk to me 18:43, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

margrid

I have quests for margrid in nightfall but I do not have margrid for my heros and i can not do quests without her. Tell me where can I find her so I have her for a hero. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 174.0.11.186 (talk).

Margrid - This might help answer some questions and this might help too Gain Margrid. Now, here's a little note. You can only obtain her, if you do not have Master of Whispers. If you do have Master of Whispers, you must complete Nightfall, before getting her. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 23:15, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) If you chose Master of Whispers rather than Margrid during Mysterious Message (Nightfall quest) then you have to wait until you beat Nightfall to gain Margrid as a hero. You can party with someone else who has Margrid to complete those quests, she just has to be in the party. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 23:16, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Not gainging attribute points

I'm Mesmer/Ranger playing Guild Wars Eye of the North and it seems like I'm not gaining any more attribute points even though I've leveled many times. I have been level 20 for so long, and even though I apparently "level up" I don't gain any points to add to my health/Energy etc. Getting frustrated cause as I move further into the game, one hit on new monsters kill me cause my health never increases past 450... Starting to get really frustrated. Sharkbait13 --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.197.200.162 (talk).

You don't gain addition attribute points/health/energy past level 20. de Kooning 21:15, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Attribute points, health, and energy stop automatically increasing once you're level 20, the max level. You can use runes on armour or upgrade components on weapons to increase your health and energy, but attribute points can only be further increased by doing the attribute quests. -- pling User Pling sig.png 21:18, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Some suggestions: get max armor, use plus health runes, ditch negative health runes, have a good monk in your party. de Kooning 21:22, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
What you are earning as you continue to "level up" beyond level 20 are skill points that are needed to learn skills from skill trainers, or to craft EotN Consumables. Attribute points max out at 200 (170 earned by leveling to 20 + 30 from quests based on the campaign of origin). -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 22:03, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
The only way to get more attribute points past level 20 (if you haven't already done so) is to go into each campaign (not EoTN) and complete the special attribute quests which will give you another 15 or 30 (I can't remember) per campaign. There are 2 special extra attribute quests per campaign. -- My Talk Lacky 00:50, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
It's not per campaign. You can only do the attribute point quests from the campaign your character was "born" in, like Wyn said. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 01:03, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Attirbute points

Hi, My account has a glitch or something similar in it my character has 185 attribute points and as this interferes with builds i have tried to find where to get a quest to get 15 attribute points he is a prophecies character but i have gone to both prophecies quests that you can attain attribute points as the reward and they have not offered me any quest or anything similar...

has this happened before is so was there a solution? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 121.218.163.49 (talk).

See Forgotten Wisdom and The Hero's Challenge. You most likely didn't complete The Hero's Challenge, since that quest has unique requirements and, from reading its talk page and personal experience, people seem to have problems getting that quest. Check if your character meets the requirements and read the anomaly in the Notes section. --Silver Edge 04:40, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Hero bonders

I have tryed to cast bonds on myself using a monk hero with no success over 100 times now. I even tryed to cast the bonds on the hero him/herself without success. Why can't my heros cast bonds?

Heroes can cast bonds, but they will not maintain them. You have to disable the skills on their skill bar (shift+click) and manually cast them on yourself. Then they will leave them, but they will not recast them if they get broken by distance, or stripped by foes, you will have to manually recast them as necessary. This is a known issue with the Hero AI. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 04:24, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
