For this mission only, all party members will be buffed with Sunspear Battle Call, which increases maximum health and armor (but not attribute points) to the equivalent of a level 20 character. An effect that helps low level characters/heroes to get through the mission more easily.

Leave the boat and start to attack. You will encounter several Kournan Bowmen, who tend to focus their arrows on one single target, making them deadly to unprepared players. Spellcaster characters should try to attack them from behind walls to cover from their projectiles.

Once you've killed the archers, go down to the western gate guarded by Captain Lumanda who is able to call in reinforcements and get rid of him to prevent additional Kournan soldier spawns.

In the next area, your reinforcements will be obstructed by two firespitters. Kill the Kournan Engineers and their groups to turn them off and reform the army by speaking to Nerashi. Make sure your allies do not remain stuck behind ground obstacles (or you will lose offense).

Continue forward, killing Kournans to capture the bombard which can be used to breach the fortress. Captain Mwende and four Elite Kournans will be stationed behind the gate.

Climb the stairs to reach the Plaza of the Five Gods, where Varesh is trapped by the invasion to finish the mission.

To gain the bonus rewards, your party has to kill three additional Kournan Field Commanders and their groups. These Commanders make use of a skill called Kournan Siege, which deals massive damage and also interrupts actions.

  1. The first is near mission start, at the top left stairs and before Captain Lumanda.
  2. The second is situated past the Kournan bombard weapon and can be found after the cinematic but before Captain Mwende.
  3. The third and final is after Captain Mwende but before the Plaza of the Five Gods. Do not proceed to engage Varesh; instead, detour northeast to find them, otherwise you might accidentally finish the mission before you're able to complete the bonus.
Bug Bug.The first Field Commander may sometimes spawn beyond the closed gate. If you do not have any ranged spell attacks, you may need to restart the mission to get the Master's reward.

Hard mode[edit]

Avoid over-aggro especially around the main gate and third Field Commander.

Initial dialogue[edit]

<Party leader>: "Sunspears, forward! We stay here, we die!"
Kormir: "You all heard <party leader>. Forward!"

Intermediate dialogue 1[edit]

When approaching Ahtok's group
Ahtok: "Spearmarshal Kormir! The Kournans are preparing to..."
  • Ahtok and his group are killed in a siege attack.*
Kormir: "<Party leader>, take your squad and capture that forward wall. We'll bring reinforcements to you once it's captured."
When the forward wall is captured
Dunkoro: "Archers, forward! Secure this position!"
When approaching the Captain Lumanda
Captain Lumanda: "Troops...reinforce this position! Guard the docks!"
Dunkoro: "That Kournan officer coordinates enemy troop movement. Take him [sic] out and we'll stem the tide of replacements."
After Captain Lumanada is defeated
Kormir: "Well done, <party leader>."
Kormir: "We have them flanked!"
Kormir: "We can't let up, Sunspears! On my command! Forward!"
When approaching the western gate
Kournan Phalanx: "Huh? They are behind us! Quickly!"
When approaching the southern front
Nerashi: "Fall back! Away from the fire!"
When speaking with Nerashi
Nerashi: "Spears as one!"
Nerashi: "It's about time you got to us."
Kormir: "Nerashi, save it for the Mists. Lonai, can you make us some "reinforcements?""
Lonai: "Of course. You heard the Spearmarshal!"
When approaching the eastern gate
<Party leader>: "Rojis! What can we do to break down these walls?"
Rojis: "Not much, I'm afraid. They've got heavier artillery than we do."
Dunkoro: "I have a plan. We can capture that Kournan bombard. They haven't fully set it up, and it's still facing their gate!"
When the eastern Field Commander comes into range
Dunkoro: "Those Kournan spotters are coordinating the siege attacks on our ships. If we can eliminate some of them, our landing troops will have an easier time."

Intermediate cinematic[edit]

Dunkoro: "Objective secure! Good work, Captain."
<Party leader>: "Good work all around, Dunkoro."
Dunkoro: "We've gotten word from Kormir. She's trapped Varesh Ossa at the Plaza of the Five Gods, and needs reinforcements!"
<Party leader>: "We'll be there at once! Move out!"

Intermediate dialogue 2[edit]

Warmarshal Varesh: "All troops! Pull back!"
Warmarshal Varesh: "Set up defensive positions at the Plaza of the Five Gods!"
After Captain Mwende and his group are defeated
Dunkoro: "This is a trap, Kormir."
Kormir: "I know, Dunkoro. I know."
When the northern Field Commander comes into range
Dunkoro: "Those Kournan spotters are coordinating the siege attacks on our ships. If we can eliminate some of them, our landing troops will have an easier time."
After Captain Kavaka and his group are defeated
Dunkoro: "Then why push forward?"
Kormir: "We must take the brunt of Varesh's dark magic."
Kormir: "We must be the ones to protect Elona."

End cinematic[edit]

<Party leader>: "Spearmarshal Kormir!"
Kormir: "Good to see you, Captain. Varesh has holed up here with her followers."
Kormir: "Now that you're here, we can make the assault!"
Kormir: "Sunspears! At the ready! Spare those who surrender! Now, in the name of the Five Gods, forward!"
Prophet Varesh: "Fools! Your gods are weak!"
Prophet Varesh: "My god gives me strength! Abaddon!"
Dunkoro: "Gods! She has demons!"
Kormir: "Regroup! Fall back! Don't let them get behind you!"
Kormir: "Blast! We're outmatched! Retreat! Save those you can!"
Prophet Varesh: "Abaddon will feast on your eyes!"
<Party leader>: "Kormir!"
Dunkoro: "Come on! Save who you can!"
<Party leader>: "Where's Koss? Where are the others?"
Dunkoro: "This way! We can retreat across the bridge."
Prophet Varesh: "Running will not save you, fools. Abaddon is strong! Nightfall is coming!"
Their forces smashed by Varesh's demons...
Their allies slain or captured...
The surviving Sunspears search for sanctuary.

The "Demon" group just before the cinematic.
  • Kormir follows the party leader, never attacks and rarely uses skills except for "Incoming!". Foes cannot target her but she does take damage from area of effect skills.
  • Firespitters will kill allies immediately, but it does not count as a death.
  • As mentioned in the walkthrough, if you attempt to take the narrow passage between the firespitters and the wall, Nerashi, Rojis, and Lonia can become stuck and not follow you. This can be indicated by their names becoming gray in your Party Members list when you've run too far away. If this is the case, go back, regroup with them, and take the path around the wall.
  • After this mission, nearly every single enemy has an elite skill.
  • After the completion of this mission for the first time, Koss will become unavailable until the completion of The Great Escape quest.
  • After completing this mission, your party will be taken to Yohlon Haven.
  • Completion of this mission will fill in page #1 in the Night Falls storybook.
