Scythe warriors
I've never actually seen one as far as I remember. So is it wise to have a W/D taking advantage of W's high armor and primary attr. while wielding a scythe just as it was a wep preferred to Ws? Basically like a derv w/ higher AL. Appearently it isn't very popular since I found only 3 such builds at PvXwiki. 195.189.142.198 23:06, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- The majority of the Dervishes' good attack skills require energy, which is something that a Warrior has trouble with. You can probably still get good use out of a Scythe, but you might end up with slightly better damage from an Axe or Sword, due to the faster attacking speed (as well as the adrenaline-powered attack skills).
- Bottom line is, it'll work; you'll probably have strong damage output, so long as you use a good balance of Scythe attacks and Strength-attribute Melee attacks. But it's not very popular mainly because it's a simpler matter to use one of the Warrior's primary weapons, and you lose out on the ability to raise your Scythe's attribute beyond 12. Give it a try, and compare it with some of the "normal" builds for Warriors. Find out which one fits your playing style better, you might find yourself doing particularly well with a certain weapon (I play with a Hammer almost exclusively, myself, due to my own playing style). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:16, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think energy would be a problem when using skills like Zealous sweep or Counterattack which gain energy per hit. Then you can afford using high-energy skills (10 energy) like Pious assault or Reap impurities (think I spelled them wrong). Also Wild blow cause massive dmg and works well against Sins and rangers w/ blocking stances (e.g. Flashing blades or Whirling defenses). Overall, I think a Scythe warrior would work better in PvE than in PvP. 195.189.142.172 10:32, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Ritualist Kurzick armor
Does The Ritualist Kurzick armor make you look like you have Black skin because I never seen a White person wearing it?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.2.220.30 (talk).
- Yes it is like a tattoo. See This and this for more information. DrogoBoffin 03:24, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- It basically is a tattoo, actually. It's not really a part of the armor, it affects your skin tone -- it replaces the texture used for the body model of the part you're wearing with a black color unavailable during character creation, similar to how necromancer scars function, or male elementalist elite stoneforged. Keep this in mind if you try to combine armors. --Jette 18:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Mobile net
Can i play guild wars on mobile net and will it run ok and will it use all my credit--92.41.205.136 10:03, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm assuming you're talking about an ISP. Without knowing how much "credit" (bandwith limit?) you have available, can't really help, but the lag and latency is likely to be horrible on a cellular ISP. Freedom Bound 11:39, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Vizunah Square
I was playing my derv and I was doing a Mission called Vizunah Square in Canta. In the Mission I saw another full party other than my own. They were speaking another language and english. We ended up sharing the mission. So when Mhenlo died we all died. I am not sure how this happened. Aren't we supposed to have our own private map? And Why did this happen? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Bnakai067 (talk).
- Yes, factions has two dual party missions: Vizunah Square and Unwaking Waters. If there's another party starting the same mission around the same time on the other side, there's a chance you'll get matched up, otherwise you'll get matched up with an all henchman party. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 11:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- In that mission, there are a total of 16 players (2 parties) working together. If Mhenlo or Togo dies both parties fail the mission. You maybe noticed, but your mission outpost is called Vizunah square (foreign quarter) and all non-canthan players start there. All Factions players start from Vizunah square (local quarter) and end up joining the foreign team (your team in this case). If no human players started from the other outpost there will be NPCs instead. Also, if you complete the mission from the foreign quarter you don't have to do it again from the local one. So it's completely normal what happened to you, that's how the mission works. You can also look at the article about the mission if you're still confused. 195.189.143.36 11:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

- Not that I know of that isn't a violation of the EULA. -- Wyn talk 10:08, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- The Dragon Festival is a Cantha/Factions holiday. The only way I can think of would be finding a Factions 10 hour trial key, using it on your account, and rushing through to Shing Jea. Should your trial end your character will be teleported back to a valid town. Note that you can only add 1 trial key for each campaign to your account, so if you previously had a factions trial kee there you can't add another one. Picture of a lock over my EOTN skills?
I just bought the EOTN skill pack from the online store and i am now able to see all those new skills but they all have a picture of a lock over them. I have been told by other players that they are all PVE skills and i have to unlock them but then some have said i should be able to use some of the skills without having to unlock them in PVE. Why is the lock on all of the new skills and how do i make it go away?--68.117.157.111 00:28, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Lifes Soundtrack
- I'm not sure what you mean here. An Unlock Pack only unlocks your skills. Unlocked skills can be used by PvP-only characters. PvE characters still ahve to visit skill trainers, use a Signet of Capture or do the required quests. Did you somehow buy the unlock pack without having owning the actual campaign? You can't use skills from campaigns you don't own, even if you somehow acquired the skill. — Poki#3 (talk) 01:30, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Are you talking about your character or about your [[hero]es?
- You can equip any unlocked skill in your hero's skill bar, but, if you do not own the corresponding campaign, you cannot force them (click on it) to use skill (they'll have the mentioned lock picture, just like PvE-only skill will not be available to be used in PvP games). However, AFAIK, you cannot buy Skill Unlock Pack unless you have either the full campaign/expansion or you have bought the PvP-Access Kit. Which one is your case?
- I don't think you're talking about PvE-only skills, because those cannot be unlocked (even if your character learns it, it won't be become unlocked). --NIN37 02:20, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
(Reset indent) I bought factions a long time ago and then downloaded the client a while later b/c i wanted to play again. then i got nightfall a few months later and now today i bought the eye of the north skill pack. when i logged in i could see all the new skills (the normal ones that come with the professions not the title track skills) but all of them have a picture of a lock on them. im on a PVP only character but ive been told i should still be able to use skills like "Way of the Master" and "Trampling Ox" (im an assassin) but both of these skills have locks on them and i cannot use them. --68.117.157.111 04:47, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Ohhh i just saw where someone said "you cant use skills from a campaign you dont own". does that mean i have to buy the eye of the north campaign as well as the skill pack now since ive already bought the skillpack for eotn?--68.117.157.111 04:50, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- You can either get Eye of the North or the PvP Access Kit from the Guild Wars In-Game Store.
- Getting just the PvP Access Kit will allow your PvP-only character to have access to all skill/items available in the game (but, first, you must "unlock" them). It also allows players to create characters from professions only available in Factions (Assassin and Ritualist) or Nightfall (Paragon and Dervish). If you don't intend to play PvE, this might be a good choice.
- Getting the expansion (Eye of the North) and/or the other campaign (Prophecies) will allow your PvE characters to get access to travel between those areas. Skills can be unlocked by making PvE characters learn them through game storyline. Takes more time to unlock skills, but might be more enjoyable for players seeking PvE experience (leveling up characters, gathering items to create weapons, farming for material for armors, etc).
- Oddly, Skill Unlock Pack states "You must own either Eye of the North or the PvP Access Kit before you can purchase this kit", so you should not be able to buy "locked" skills. --NIN37 05:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- If you did somehow buy the skill unlock pack without owning the Eye of the North campaign or the PvP Access Kit, you should contact support about it; they can probably get you a refund or something of the sort, since you shouldn't have been able to buy the skills without the campaign or the Access Kit (since you can't use the skills without either of those). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:16, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
unique weapons
how do i get a boss to drop their unique weapon?--Skullcrusher 06:21, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Just kill the boss, rezone, kill it, rezone, kill it... Repeat until the green drops. Green items drop very rarely so you might have to kill the boss many dozens of times. Note that heroes and henchmen take their share of drops so you can increase your chance to get the green by farming the boss completely alone. Or you can hunt with some friend that is willing to give the green drop to you should he get it. Drop rate is also increased during certain weekend events. It's also quite a much about luck (not the title). Sometimes you have to kill the boss a ridicoulus (spelling?) amount of times, and sometimes the green drops the first time you even meet the boss (happened to me a lot, just lucky I guess). 195.189.142.253 10:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- If your looking for an actual statistic I think I saw the number 5% floating around... meaning that 5% of the time you kil la boss the green will be droped for a mermber in the party.... so you can see if your traveling out with heros and henchies even when you get the 5% the chance you get the drop is again greatly reduced... You can travel with other human players but they would have to aggree to give you the green... so in most cases farming the greens are done by players with solo builds designed to get that particular boss... they usually get it 5% of the time solo... (1 in 20 runs) I forget where I saw that number tho MrPaladin talk 13:15, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Loot scaling states that rare and unique weapons, Skill tomes and Dyes (among a few other drops) do not scale with party size - meaning you should get the same chances of item dropping in either a solo or full-party team.
- Again, chances of those green/unique weapons to drop is fairly low (not sure about that 5% number), so you might need to kill the Boss a few many times... Some weekend and special events will increase your chances of getting a green drop. --NIN37 13:46, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Runes & Insignias
Hi, i would like to ask about rune and insignia.
Is the "warrior rune of superior absoption" effect global or locolised?
Does the effect from the "knight's insignia" stack with the effect of the "rune of superior absoption"?
For example: I put "knight's insinia" on every pieces of armor, if I put a "warrior rune of superior absoption" on just one piece of armor, will the rune stack with the insignias on all 5 pieces of armor, or just this exact piece of armor, or they will not stack?
Thank you very much.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dingdang1978 (talk).
- Rune of Superior Absorption, Knight's Insignia. The rune's effect is global, the insignia's is not. They will stack. --Jette 13:04, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- If you put two non-stacking items together, only the highest bonus is applied; for example: Rune of Major Vigor + Rune of Minor Vigor = +41HP (bonus from Major Rune only).
- If you put a non-stacking item with a stacking item together, they'll sum up; for example: Rune of Superior Vigor + 2x Rune of Vitae = 50 + 2x 10 = 70HP.
- In your case, each Knight's Insignia will give a -3 physical damage bonus (to the applied armor piece) that stacks with the global (non-stacking) -3 physical damage bonus from your Rune of Superior Absorption (so, -6 physical damage everywhere).
You can increase your physical absorption a little more by using. They both will stack with inherit basic armor -20 physical damage bonus (so, -26 physical damage).- You can increase even more your physical damage reduction by using a Shield with some inscriptions (such as "Run For Your Life!", "Luck of the Draw", "Nothing to Fear" or "Sheltered by Faith") and/or an of Shelter weapon upgrade. --NIN37 14:04, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's not so much -20 physical damage as it is 25% less physical damage, just to clarify. ··· Danny Pew Pew 16:26, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- See damage calculation for a more in-depth overview. Also, unless your armor is insanely high to begin with, Stalwart Insignia is going to reduce more damage than the Knight's Insignia. --Jette 18:49, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's not so much -20 physical damage as it is 25% less physical damage, just to clarify. ··· Danny Pew Pew 16:26, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Ouch! Sorry, that was my mistake (should not type in a rush; that paragraph does not even make much sense...).
- Yup, Warrior basic armor has a +20 armor rating versus physical damage (and not a physical damage reduction, as I incorrectly stated).
- Well, a warrior max armor provides 80+20=100 armor rating vs physical damage (50% damage reduction) and 80 armor rating vs other damages (i.e., ~29% elemental damage reduction). Adding to Danny's and Jette's input, there are some skills that will boost your armor as well, but these effect will be capped at 25% (single skills that provide a higher bonus will bypass this cap); the armor bonus from Skill does stack with bonus from runes/insignias/upgrades/armor, so you might consider using skills with armor upgrades to get a better damage reduction.
- In short: upgrade components that say "non-stacking" will not stack with other "non-stacking" components (only highest effect takes place); everything not said to be "non-stacking" will stack (again, talking about weapon/armor upgrades). --NIN37 00:52, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

- Igneous Summoning Stone should be the first item created when you type /bonus (at least that's what happen on my account), so this should not be OP's issue.
- Try typing /bonusitems and see if the summoning stone is listed there; if it's listed there, you should contact support to inform them your /bonus command is not working; if it isn't listed there, and you can't acquire the Guild Wars 2008 Upgrade, well, contact support as well informing them the Guild Wars In-Game Store isn't working properly.
- Chances are, though, that OP has only the Game of the Year upgrade (weapons) and not the 2008 Upgrade (fire imp), since GotY description is a bit ambiguous (in-game store will imply GotY includes 2008 upgrade even though older copies of GotY bought from retail stores might not include it). --NIN37 00:30, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Silencing perverts...
Is there a way to mute a player that gets around the filter by using two or more vowels or consenants to spell out their "fantasies?" I don't want to disable chat unless I can still read what I need to read to get and finish quests.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by 96.253.127.220 (talk).
- Add the person to your ignore list. To do this hit N and bring up the Friends list window and at the bottom add their name to ignore. DrogoBoffin 20:59, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Check support's entries for "Reporting Violations" and "Rules of Conduct".
- If the issue really bothers you, you could either use the in-game /report command or take a few screenshots and use the web's Ask a Question form.
- But, if it's just a minor problem (unfortunately, this is internet, so we can't expect everybody to have a socially accepted behavior), just ignore individual players using DrogoBoffin's tip above. Although I'm sure ANet staff want to keep GW clean of jerks, flooding their reporting system with non-essential reports could drive their attention out of the real trouble-makers (scammers, trolls, bots, etc). --NIN37 23:32, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Just turn off Local Chat, you don't need that to get or finish quests. Freedom Bound 23:23, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Biggest Alliance
- → moved from Help talk:Ask a wiki question
i was just wondering what the biggest alliance in the game was —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.156.7.69 (talk • contribs) at 03:00, July 15, 2009 (UTC).
- This is difficult to say as alliances are limited to 10 guilds and each guild is limited to 100 players. But I would say the faction alliances are probably of the biggest alliances in game; just look who holds House zu Heltzer or Cavalon.. poke | talk 07:12, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Theoretically, the biggest alliance would have near 1000 members if not 1000 members at any given moment. However, some alliances have split into separate 10-guild-alliances while still acknowledging a "main ideal." As such, these alliances boast anywhere from 1600 to 2400 members.
- As for the biggest one, I'd say your best bet would either be the [YaRR], [LaZy] or [KISS]/[SICK] alliances. --Riddle 07:18, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- i think at the moment kiss/sick is the largest then nite then yarr then lazy i may be wrong --Nick123 09:52, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
