- See Miniature; it will be a). A present will appear when your character has its birthday. poke | talk 18:17, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) To get Birthday minis, they appear automatically in your inventory on your characters birthday, use /age to find out how old the character is - it should say "You have played this character for X hours over the last X months" or something similar. There are other ways to get non-birthday minis and the Miniature article explains it for each one. Hope this helps :) --Kakarot 18:19, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Help me Ranger experts![edit]
I've purchaced Guild Wars Nightfall recently, I've been through the whole storyline fighting the game every step of the way, with alot of help from other players. Im at the where everything is maxed out weapons, armor, and such, but still cant go outside the doors into the Plains of Jarin, in HM, alone without getting mowed down in seconds. This subject has been gone over and gone over and I've read alot of it and just don't understand the setup i guess. Unfortunetly the only one i have is nightfall, will i have to get the others factions, proficies, and mission expantion to be able to do this or what am i missing? I've watched the videos on youtube, they look impressive but how can they walk into a mob, take massive amounts of damage and not die? I'd like to take on a Boss even in normal mode without getting slaughtered. What i need is builds, and somewhat of an explanation on how to use them, i think? Thanks for your help in advance.
- Asking on Guild Wars Guru would get you a lot more results than here (and perhaps some flaming, but it's worth it). Try PvXWiki for builds. Just make sure you have max armor, a good build, good weapons, level 20 heroes with good builds/weapons, etc. Calor 01:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- From what I know of there could be quite a few videos on Youtube, or similar places which show off builds that are no longer usable, due to skill changes, or require skills from at least 2 campaigns. (Not to mention a whole lot of the invincible builds come from elementalist or monk skills.) As Calor said, look in those places for information like that. Yukiko 01:33, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Plains of Jarin is the easiest in my opinion. Though, I have decent builds, and a couple of them from PvX. I also have heroes. To make your own builds, you have to see what they do, learn what they do, and how you can synergize them, or make them compliment each other. If a spell does damage, but has a second effect that works only if the person is on fire, find something that sets them on fire first. That kind of thing. Though, that was an elementalist example and you seek ranger stuff.- Vanguard 11:15, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

- By "alone" do you mean "solo" or with heroes and henchmen? If you're having trouble with hero builds, part of the trouble may come from a lack of skill depth in the hero classes. I don't know if this describes you, but I have friends who strongly prefer one character, or one class of character. I've got a friend who has three elementalists but no monks... and so she hasn't really acquired any monk skills to equip on her monk heroes. Skill unlock packs can help with this, along with well-recommended hero builds from PvXWiki. And if that's still not enough... well, it's called Hard Mode for a reason. Moving Things to a New Character[edit]

Guild Hall (Renaming Guild)[edit]
I am wanting to know if once you have a guild hall and fully stocked is it possible to rename the Guild without deleting items already bought.
Id appreciate any help
- I THINK you can change your hall and keep stuff, but I don't believe you can ever change the name. Don't hold this at face value, wait for more replies.- Vanguard 13:40, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- The above is correct, you can change halls and still retain your guild hall services but you cannot rename a guild. --Xasxas256 14:08, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah i looked up on wiki and saw that I can change the Hall itself and the npc'swill go to the new hall, also ive seen that you can change the style of cape as well, but couldnt find anything about renaming the guild.....Thank you for your help on this I appreciate it :)
- Guilds can't be renamed. You would need to make a new guild, which would have none but the standard NPC's in the Guild Hall when you got one. Calor 22:07, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

- You could always just join an alliance which contains a guild that has all the guild hall services already. Or recruit 50 members, get them all loyal and and proud of the guild then get them to all chip in to buy the NPCs. Isn't that what most guilds do? Not sure I'd call that easy but hey! --Xasxas256 23:58, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Explorables loading[edit]
Hi. This is more of a technical question but I thought I'd ask here anyway to see if anyone's had the same problem. What is happening more and more frequently recently, is that explorable areas just aren't loading, towns and outposts were fine until today.. I can no longer get on to any of my pve characters and if I do, I can't do anything on them. Pvp loads fine and I can play all pvp areas with almost zero lag. I am on my university connection so I thought it could be related to bandwidth, but if that is the case, why can I play Pvp areas? Any help would be appreciated. Jo 194.82.121.38 23:56, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- i'm not very sure about the reason, but it may indeed be bandwidth. since pvp are only a few areas which have to be dled and can then be stored, pve will get you a new map everytime (i think it's also got something to do with the spam randomness). - Y0_ich_halt 00:00, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
But then again I've done most of the campaigns before and already have most of the areas "stored" unless you mean it actually generates it again or something. I also have most of the problem with eye of the north areas, they're the first to go if it happens to load once. Also what do you mean by "spam randomness"? :$ 194.82.121.38 00:21, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- oh, lol, i meant to write "spawn"... i'm a bit tired ^^ - Y0_ich_halt 00:33, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- It could be decompressing the areas. -- Gordon Ecker 00:41, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
@Gordon - It used to load almost instantly, just recently it's started doing this. @Dominator - It does this repeatedly, no matter how many times I restart GW. Anything I can do to fix it? 194.82.121.38 00:50, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe he/she should contact support, if this has never happened b4 --Shadowphoenix 00:51, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
I contacted support the other day, they asked me to change some router settings and send them a diag again. - The most reliable way to price greens (or other valuable commodities) is to check out the forums on GuildWarsGuru. But I also find that a reasonable (if clumsy) method is to start in a "big" town (Kaineng Center, Lion's Arch, etc.) and offer your item for sale at a ridiculous price, e.g. "WTS Luntos Pincers 100k!" Be sure to use the Trade channel. Within a few minutes, some kindly soul will whisper you saying they're not worth that much, and suggest a more reasonable price. After a few such suggestions, throw out the highest and lowest and you'll usually have a concensus.
- Or, you could do what I do, which is ... if it's green and it's max, I either use it myself or stick it on a hero. If I can't find a use for it, then I sell it to a merchant, because selling it in town takes forever and hardly ever nets more than I could've earned if I'd kept killing monsters instead of standing around. - If you're referring to the TPS regulator golem, that would be Little Workshop of Horrors although unfortunately that page doesn't include a walkthrough. If I remember it right it's best to kill the flame golems first to disable the traps, you could try drawing them away from the TPS regulator golem one at a time which usually makes it easier. --Kakarot 17:05, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Death Lvling[edit]
I know death lvling is the only way to get to lvl 20 in pre-searing. My question is, for how ever many Charrs I gather to the rez shrine, only 3 char get xp and lvl up, the rest stay at lvl 8. Aren't they all suppose to share xp and lvl up together? Am I doing something wrong? Please help.
Situation Ex: I gather let say 8 charrs at the rez shrine, and they kill me over and over, but only 3 of the 8 chars lvl up by killing me, the rest stay at lvl 8, why is that? Am I missing something here? Thanks --Azn Kiba 13:49, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Look at the death leveling guides on www.presearing.com. Most likely you are not placing them close enough together. Those that do the most damage to you level up more. (mendel 84.128.229.3 16:28, 20 April 2008 (UTC))
- According to most of the guides I've read (and my experience death-levelling bears this out), the experience gained by the Charr is not level across the whole massive group. Instead it's based on the number of groups you pull. The first group in the stack typically gets over half the experience, the second almost half of what remains, and the rest get nearly squat. Thus the first group levels MUCH faster. If your first group is small (say 2) while the second group is large (say 4), the first group will far and away get more exp, as the 2 in that group get 60ish% of the exp between the two of them. If it's the reverse (first of 4, second of 2), the 6 of them will stay nearly even. There's all kinds of theories on how A-net determines the order of the group, and how to change it (some say killing one caster in the group works, some say you have to know who the current leader of the group is and kill him, some say just killing a random charr works for them). Personally, I've had little if any luck with predicting or changing the order of groups. Usually I check on my death-leveling 4-6 hours in, and if one group is running away with the exp, I pave them, and then go afk again so the next group gets exp, too. ~Scion~ (talk | contribs) 16:32, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

- By reading these messages on this server with a Web Browser, you are exposing yourself to viruses. You expose yourself to viruses every day by downloading videos, running email, surfing the web, or even connecting your machine to the internet at all. Honestly, you can catch viruses from shipped CD's, and there was a recent outbreak of viruses being shipped on USB drives new out of the package. Like the flu, they're pervasive and highly infectious.
- You should always be running a regular virus scan of your machine. The only way to keep your machine in good health is to keep doing checkups, same as your body.
- Guild Wars runs a proprietary client-server system with a small (compared to the internet as a whole) userbase. They are not a likely target for attacks in this way. The payoff is to small, and the potential for getting caught is very high.
- Because each and every update is documented both here and at guildwars.com, and reviewed by the community, you can feel comfortable that your play experience is reasonably safe.
- Again, let me say, you should be running a regular virus scan of your machine. If you're doing that, and running a personal firewall, you should accept that you have at least a modicum of safety and privacy.
- From there, you have to make your own decisions about how secure your machine is, can be and/or needs to be. People have written volumes on Computer Security, and many of us make our living working on such. You have to determine what level of exposure you can be comfortable with and go from there. ~Scion~ (talk | contribs) 04:29, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- In comparison to most other online games I have played the occurrence of server hacking is extremely nominal in Guild Wars. Every time you log on, the server compares it's files to your GW.dat file, and if it finds a difference, it repairs it. This is why you find very little in the way of game cheats in Guild Wars. This is something that the developers learned from their experience with Blizzard.-- Wynthyst 11:06, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, the way to keep your machine in good health is to avoid unsafe practices; the checkups only detect when your health has already been compromised. Don't run software with known unfixed security vulnerabilities (coughiecough coughoutlookcough), don't browse to "shady" web sites, don't view email attachments from unsolicited emails, get your software from trusted sources, make a user that has no admin rights and log in as that whenever possible. Diable internet services that were installed running on your machine which you don't need. Don't share login information. Doing that has kept my machine healthy. I use Firefox for browsing and Pegasus for email. Don't get a false sense of security because you run a virus shield and a "personal firewall"; virus writers are continually thinking up new ways to bypass those. (mendel 84.128.235.113 10:01, 22 April 2008 (UTC))

- Piken, Shiloh, and Libeh all have it. I'm assuming you're looking under the assassin skill category. Critical Agility is under the Sunspear skills instead of assassin skills. and unfortunately, your heroes can't use it :( -- Wandering Traveler 21:12, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Alliance Battles[edit]
Hello, i recently started doing alliance battles, and used my kurzick faction the first time toget shards. and as normal it added towards my title. but when i donated 5000 faction to my guild(alliance) it did not progress towards my title, but it did add to my guild's faction amount, and did get removed from my amount of faction in my hero screen. is there a reason why this did not happen? and if not, what can i do about it?
- hmm...that may be a bug. It should add towards your title if you donate...perhaps get a screenshot of it and send it to support? could use other feedback on this one. -- Wandering Traveler 22:50, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think it rarely doesn't show up in your progress bar, but it shows up later. You could try waiting for a little bit and checking it again, it might work then.

Blue Attribute Points[edit]
Hey everybody. I know that if your attribute point is blue that means it is affected by a rune or armor that is being worn... I've taken off all my armor(no runes attached) and I don't have any runes in my bag or not even in my xunlai chest..
I Don't know what else to do..I'm a N/Me..But I only use death magic..My death magic was stuck at 12 which was blue. but i maxed it out so its not blue anymore..but also my curses are at a blue 9..I don't know how to fix it..
Also when I try and put attribute points into anything else..it will go into it, but go back down to 0. It says your attribute points are at..whatever #, but are modified to 0.. Please help!
- Your question isn't very clear. What are you trying to do, exactly? Biscuits 13:02, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think you might be under the the Journey to the North effect, or a similar effect which forces your attributes to set numbers. Go to your guild hall or something and try moving the numbers around. If it works there, then you were probably in a place where those effects occur. -- Brains12 \ Talk 13:06, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

- If your guild already has a hall, hit the letter G in the keyboard and then click on the "Go to guild hall" button in there. If you guild doesn't have one, it needs to buy it first.--Fighterdoken 22:22, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Please fix my account to where other players have no control over me![edit]
I was trying to play rollerbeetle and now am unable to because other players have put a dishonorable hex on me. Normally I do not participate in any PVPs. This is my first time playing rollerbeetle and I was having a difficult time navigating. Now having played Guild Wars for years and also purchasing your coinciding games (I feel jipped). How can you allow other players just to kick someone out of a game! Not fair! Not right! -- Miz Arie
- You can find out more about the Dishonorable hex here. Basically, don't leave a Rollerbeetle Race prematurely and you won't get the hex. No other player can put this hex on you during racing but yourself. Kokuou 00:10, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
I don't think so. I did not leave the race and my computer did not shut down nor did I have any technical difficulties with the game. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:MizArie (talk).
- Regardless, the only way to remove the hex is to wait it out; it's not an actual hex, but more of a game effect (nobody can "cast" it on you). The status should normally only last for about ten minutes. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:04, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Driver error when beginning Warband of Brothers mission[edit]
When I speak to Gron Fierceclaw in Doomlore Shrine and begin the Warband of Brothers mission, I get an error that says: Guild Wars has encountered an unrecoverable graphics driver error and must terminate. It then tells me to click on this URL: http://www.guildwars.com/support/en-graphicsdriver_failure.php I currently have an Intel 82865G Graphics Controller which is not one of the two that is recommended by GW, but yet it has worked just fine for the last three months. I updated the driver, only to be told that I already had the most recent update. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it. I have watched other cut-scenes since encountering this error, so am totally lost as to why this is happening and what to do about it. Getting a new graphics card is unfortunately out of the question. Help please!
Thanks, 98.165.244.85 21:53, 26 April 2008 (UTC) Chris
- maybe that's what they were talking about when they said stuff about new graphics. - Y0_ich_halt 21:59, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- It could be that it's trying to produce a specific graphics function that it hasn't yet done, and that your graphics card/driver can't cope with. If that's the case, there's not much you can do unfortunately. You could try contacting your Intel support or ArenaNet support, explaining the problem. You're more than likely to get a canned "This card does not support this game" response though. Good luck! Biscuits 00:02, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, sure enough I went through every diagnostic process I could find only to be told that while my driver may work, it is technically not supported and therefore no help can be given. Thanks a lot Biscuits! 98.165.244.85 16:31, 6 May 2008 (UTC) Chris

Guide to Lucky title track error[edit]
Id just like to inform people that the 'guide to the luck titles' page posted on Wiki is very innacurate. I purchased 95k worth of tickets. This article suggested i should break the lucky title r2 with only 88250g spent. I only just breached r1. Could someone please update this article or shed some light on why i was given so little tickets? --58.165.130.83 02:22, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

- Another thing worth noting is that if your inventory's full, any tickets you get will drop outside of your inventory instead, so if you filled your inventory with tickets, you might have shorted the "life span" of the stacks (they could get smaller, but not bigger). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 13:04, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

- Hi. It depends what PvP you want to do really. :) For Random Arena, Team Arena, Hero Battles and Heroes Ascent you should take a look at the page on the Battle Isles for getting there with a PvE character I think that says everything you need. For GvG you need to be part of a Guild and would join PvP from the Guild Hall using which ever character you like. There are low level arena's for lower level characters in the PvE world which you can get to also; Ascalon Arena, Shiverpeak Arena in Prophecies, Shing Jea Arena in Factions and Sunspear Arena in Nightfall. There are also Competitive Missions in Factions which you get to with your PvE character through quests. --Aspectacle 11:06, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
PvP armor/weapons[edit]
Hello, I've been always wondering how some people on the pvp side of the game have certain armor I can't switch too. I know that (A) they have brought their PvE character to PvP ...(B) they come from another game or (C) there are ways of getting new armor in pvp, I was just wondering if that "way" exists, I would like to know how to get there, or acquire the gear.
