Avast! Starting at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on September 13th, NPCs in Lion's Arch and Kamadan will talk like salty sea dogs. Pirate Week will run through Noon Pacific on September 20th, at which point everyone will have to walk the plank. Arrh!

The Pirate Week is a special event that occurs annually from September 13, 19:00, to September 20, 19:00 UTC (source), coinciding with International Talk Like a Pirate Day on 19 September.

Trivia[edit]

  • The quote "Well met, jim lad. We be pirates, savvy?" is from the novel "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson, and is used in several film and television adaptations.
  • The quote "Why is the rum gone?" is from the Disney film series "Pirates of the Caribbean," found here.
  • The quote "What will ye do with a drunken pirate, ear-lie in the morning." is a reference to the song/shanty titled Drunken Sailor.
  • The quotes "Ye'll have to kill me before me dies." and "With your head on my shoulders we'd wreck civilization." are from the movie Yellowbeard.
  • In 2008, Pikin, the Hero skill trainer found in Kamadan, was accidentally removed during the update for the event. He was later returned in a subsequent update.
  • Prior to 2013, the NPCs only used the alternate models on September 19.
  • Prior to 2013 when this was a special weekend event, this was referred to as "Talk Like a Pirate Event" in the login screen announcements and was not on a fixed schedule:
