Grandmaster Cartographer for Tyria
Hi everyone... while perusing the wiki during my trip thru Tyria I would usually check to see what was in store for my character when I would enter a new area or mission. Something I noticed that was a great way to "check up" so to speak, on my mapping. Some of the entries, mainly the ones for the first part of the game, had a small "complete exploration adds x.x% to your cartography title". After I'd scrape my way around I'd check and see if I was on the money or had to hunt a bit more. Later on, there were fewer instances of the wiki stating the percentage. So, ultimately, here is the question.... Any chance that there is a map percentage database around? I wasn't able to find anything myself, but I figured somebody might know. As of right now, I just got the to ring of fire islands and only scraped the edge of the town I arrived in. I'm at 95.1%, and I sure hope the islands add up to 4.9% !! If all goes well I should get my grandmaster and legendary carting titles by tomorrow. Cheers! 72.24.236.77 23:11, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- There's no list that I know of, but I can tell you the RoF Islands probably aren't almost 5%, and you'll get the title this weekend via scraping zones such as The Falls and the Southern Shiverpeaks. Calor 23:21, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
UGH!! thats not what I wanted to hear, because I scraped everything up to this point, sometimes even twice to be sure.
- Well, maybe I'm wrong if you were that consistent. Give the RoF a go and see how you do. Calor 01:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like a potential wiki project needed for data collection like the drop rates.-- Wynthyst 01:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Eh, probably not. Some zones have borders touching, so where would the clouds in between be sorted? Calor 02:03, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Since this would be to create a percentage range, based on what percentages people reported (amount cleared prior to mapping/amount cleared after mapping), the range would become ever more accurate as more people provide data. Just like the drop rate tables do.-- Wynthyst 02:10, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

- What I do after a day's exploring is quit GW, and fire it up again with texmod and Cartography made Easy to see on the map what I missed (and what the mapper doing the mod missed ;-). I don't use it in play so as not to spoil my fun and avoid the (minor) graphics glitches. I have no need for a percentages database. (mendel 84.128.233.245 10:19, 16 May 2008 (UTC))
UPDATE: I was easily able to complete grandmaster even before completing the last mission. Looks like the islands add up to about 5.1 to 5.2 %
- Thank you for the info! (mendel 84.128.201.167 06:58, 23 May 2008 (UTC))
Guild Wars for PS3
Problem with The Missing Vanguard
I have encountered a problem in the game. The missing vanguard mission is shown in Hero book as done. Pyre was not saved and Anton not found. Pyre will not activate to open the entrance in dalada uplands. I have dropped the quest leading to there with no result. What can I do?
Again with the "should be a separate question" thing... anyway! Did Captain Langmar give you the quest reward for The Missing Vanguard (a.k.a., the 10,000 EXP)? In other words, press L and check your quest log to see if it is still there. If it is, you are not done yet. :op I mean, I've found that the Hero Book can be a tad confusing (if, by "done" you mean there's a check mark next to the quest name in the book), since it often puts check marks next to quests in my book when I haven't done them yet (well, re-done them, as I already beat GW:EN once). So, yes, check your L menu, then go to The Missing Vanguard page and see what must be done. I hope that helps! :o) --Dragon nataku 16:55, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
skill/atribute point missing
i would like to know when i begin to see some skillpoint comming in.
(when i got lvl 20 i had 2 skillpoint left to spend)
now im lvl (20)+8 and i got 3 or 4 skillpoint from mission's. i bought 4 signet of capture and thats all...(the next spell i buy will cost 90 gold) thats 8+4-4 = 8 i should have in "bank" but i still only got 2 points left to spend
i need to know why...or if i do somthing wrong!!! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Lilleput (talk).
- There's a difference between skill points and attribute points. The first is unlimited, you will get a skill point after a certain number of experience, and from missions and quests as you mention. The second is limited, and after reaching lvl 20 and doing the two attribute quests, you cannot gain any more. 200 attribute points is the max. Which one of those are you referring to? Points left to spend sounds like it refers to attribute points, but the rest is about skill points. - anja 14:38, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- To view your skill points, open your Hero window (H). They are listed above and the the right of your total xp.-- Wynthyst 15:23, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks alot...i was referring to both...because i thought it was the same thing --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Lilleput (talk).
Also, it seems like you are wondering why, after buying signets of capture, you have less skill points than before. Signets of capture cost one skill point each to buy, plus the actual gold amount as well, so that is why after you gained the four skill points from missions and then bought four signets of capture you ended up back at the same number of skill points you had before doing the missions. --Dragon nataku 17:01, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Increased level cap
Would it be Possible to increase the level cap a few levels.. maybe to level 25? I think that would be a great way to keep players interested while waiting for gw2. 65.41.147.195 16:06, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Elessar
- Most characters have more than 300k EXP. So increasing the level wouldn't change anything but just change the number. poke | talk 16:45, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Considering that the highest level foe is lvl 32 in hard mode, increasing the level cap for players really would not positively impact the game as it would all then become much too easy.-- Wynthyst 16:51, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
The original GuildWars games (i.e., everything before GW2) had a level cap of 20 for a reason. This was done to emphasize that your skill set is what makes you a decent/good/great/bad player, NOT how many levels you have obtained. In games like WoW and such, where the level cap is some insane number, you defeat difficult enemies because your level is so high, as opposed to having to strategize about what skills would be effective against whatever monster/boss you encounter. But, if it makes you feel better, GW2 will go the way of pretty much all other MMO's and have a really high level cap (I read somewhere it could go as high as 100, or even infinite). Yay level-grinding! ... *cough* --Dragon nataku 17:05, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

What's in a name?
I thought it about time I asked another thought-provoking, yet relatively unimportant GuildWars-related question. So. I was looking something up on Wikipedia, and I'm one of those people that ends up clicking random links within the articles of whatever it is I looked up. And somehow I ended up on this Wikipedia page. So my question is thus: Is Farrah Cappo dyslexically named after the fencing master/fencing style Capo Ferro? I mean, the names are rather similar. Plus, fencing uses a type of sword, and Farrah Cappo is, in fact, a sword-weilding warrior. Mysteeeeeeerious... *wiggles fingers* Discuss amoungst yourselves! --Dragon nataku 23:41, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Fee Eeee's Problem
Hello! I'm a level 7 Elementalist/Ranger. I recently purchased a salvage kit & Idenfication kit. They are still brand new! I cannot get them to work! I have gone out on quests and I stop and double click on them nothing, I abandoned all of my quests and went out by myself (except for my pet tiger) and try to double click, nothing. In Tsumei Village & Shing Jea Monastery I tried in the towns to get both kits to work, still nothing! I still have a couple of unidentified things I didn't want to part with until I identified them! Obtaining the incubator kit.
I have recently spent a lot of time obtaining the necessary components for getting the incubator kit, not only that, the ingredients for the black moa chick.
When i managed to get everything together, i was highly aggraveted and dissapointed to find out that i need to have 10K luxon faction to GET INTO THE HATCHERY, and since i am kurzick, that naturally is something that will take a lot of time to achieve.
My point is, i went through so much effort to get the right stuff, that i definitely dont think its fair having to aquire luxon faction to get into the hatchery. There is more than enough neutral territory to place "Kathrine". It's supposed to be a quest with easy access to all players, regardless of what faction they are.
Many Luxon players said the same thing about skills, which is understandable. But thats why u can unlock skills with balthazar faction and learn them with tomes. This, however, is a quest.
It's completly ridiculous!
- ... *cough* Lots of people acquire 10k opposite faction rather easily. In fact, they do this all the time (or, at least, used to when lots of people actually played Factions, but that's neither here nor there). If one wishes to get Protector of Cantha title, for example, one would have to get 10k faction of their opposing, uh, faction, eventually anyway. Yet nobody (that I've read) complained about that. Anyway. There is this thing called AB that allows you to gain faction. Getting a guest invite to an opposite faction guild (in your case, a Luxon guild), and then entering AB from their guildhall (providing they actually have a guildhall) allows you to gain opposite side's faction. Depending on how things go, it shouldn't take entirely too long to get the required 10k faction. --Dragon nataku 20:08, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- and you can still just do all the quests, they offer acceptable rewards, too. but AB is indeed the best way; after 7 wins you have your 10k. - Y0_ich_halt 20:10, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- and for the non-pvepers, FFF. - Y0_ich_halt 20:33, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- To be fair, you need something from both sides, as to make a Hardened Moa Egg, Luxons need to have 10k Kurzick faction to reach the waterfall. Granted you could buy one, but I haven't seen them for sale since soon after EotN was released. --Thervold 20:42, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- I still have some Hardened Moa Eggs! Thirteen, in fact. ... but they are mine... ALL MINE!! MUAHAHAHA!! ... *cough hack wheeze* ... what? I need them for... stuff. ... no, I am not making a giant omelette, whatever gave you that idea? Everyone knows you don't really make omelettes with eggs... (P.S.: Yes, I do in fact have 13 hardened moa eggs. Because I'm crazy) --Dragon nataku 21:41, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually.... getting 10k of the opposite faction is ridiculously easy. Just go and do the quests. Since you've never unlocked Gyala Hatchery before, it's safe to assume that you haven't even done the primary quests on the Luxon side. I'm not sure why you think getting the other ingredients is worth the effort, yet unlocking a mission outpost is not worth the effort. They never said it's "supposed to be a quest with easy access to all players". -- ab.er.rant 03:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

- It seems as if you have a problem with your Symantec Personal Firewall. You need to consult the documentation for that or contact Symantec for help with this issue, or hope that someone reading this has the same issue as you do. You can also try a Google Search and see if it helps. (mendel 84.128.201.167 07:06, 23 May 2008 (UTC))
- I suspect your problem is that the Symantec box is excatly the same size and position as the Guild Wars loading box, but underneath it (I've seen this happen before). Move down to your taskbar and you should be able to click on the "Symantec" tab, which will bring it to the front. Click on "allow always" and you're good to go.Cassie 12:10, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Depending on the firewall program, sometimes they complain when Guild Wars updates (thinks it's a new program sometimes), so it'll keep asking you over and over... make sure that GW.exe is on your firewall's exceptions list (assuming it has one), and if you still get problems, try adding gw.dat to the exceptions as well or something. Trial and error until it stops complaining could work. Like Cassie said too, it might be giving you a pop-up that you can't see; if it doesn't have it's own box, try minimizing the GW updater, and see if there's anything behind it too. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 13:08, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Sunspear Skill Whirlwind attack inconsistency
To take advantage of different skill combos, I went to check and see how the "Whirlwind Attack" was treated as far as it being a single attack or multiple attacks.
Since a scythe hits up to 2 additional targets other than the one selected, it would make sense that using WW Attack would actually hit all targets adjacent to your foe 3 times. This was not the case, it traeted WW attack as just one attack without retaining the basic benefit of using a scythe... hitting multiple targets.
Then I decided... neat, since it treats WW Attack as just one attack, I should be able to use a nice splinter weapon and WW Attack combo. Again, not the case. I found that after hitting the first 4 adjacent targets, splinter weapon was used up. I was surrounded by 17 Trolls, that woulda been around 2000 dmg to each had it worked accordingly.
So in conclusion I have found that depending on which way you try to use it, whirlwind attack is inconsistent in its use. Who would I talk to in order to possibly get this remedied?

- The way to get to Ascalon from Balthazar's Temple is to press M for map, click on the ship, and travel to Lion's Arch; from there you can find Ascalon on your map. To determine whether your character is PvE or PvE, look at the description on the character selection screen (before you start the game). You can access this screen from in-game by pressing F12 and choosing "character select". In the upper left corner you will see what the character you selected is: PvE or PvP. Buying Gold from Anet
why dont they just let ppl buy gold cause if guild wars would just set up a deal with one of the gold sellin sites, cause they could get a 20% of the profit and plus it attracts players cause they could get money to buy armor they have always wanted to get cause i think it would attract me,why dont they????You should lettin the company that owns it know this would be a good step up--70.187.192.23 00:08, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Angelic Guardman

promotion points
What are sun spear promotion points, what are they for and how do i find out how many i have? 208.13.218.140 17:42, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- SS (Sunspear) points don't really serve a real purpose, other than to try to avoid people whizzing through the game at really low levels (of course, this only works if your character originated in Nightfall). So certain points in the game require you to be either a certain level or a certain Sunspear rank before you can continue with the storyline. You can get them by talking to Sunspear Scouts, or anybody who guards a res(surection) shrine later in the game (in the Istan area, it's usually only Sunspear Scouts), who then give you bounties for certain enemies. If you accept this bounty and kill the type of monster they ask you to (i.e., skales), you get a certain number of points per kill (bosses are worth more points, I believe). Also, after you reach a certain rank in Sunspear you can display it as a title by choosing it in the H menu (Titles tab). So its other purpose is to allow you to acquire a title. The maximum Sunspear title is 50,000 SS points. As it is a title, you can check how many points you have in the H menu (Titles tab), under Sunspear rank title track. This page has more information on the SS title track, in case you want to learn more. --Dragon nataku 17:59, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Help, I want to create a Dervish/Ritualist
I want to create a Dervish/Ritualist, I own all campaigns, and Eye of the North, and they are all tied to my account, but I can't find the Ritualist trainer anywhere, isn't there any way to be a Dervish/Ritualist without having to accend first? Do I have to travel to the Faction continent to do it? --70.118.212.61 00:30, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, no, you can not create a Dervish with an original secondary profession of Ritualist. You will need to ascend first. However, to 'ascend' in NF, you just must get to the mainland, and complete the Hunted quest and then the first of the Command Post quests. (edit) You don't have to travel to Factions. -- Wynthyst 00:42, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- So you can create one, but not at the beginning. Pick a temporary secondary, and switch to Dervish later once you've got to the Command Post and recruited Zuwarah (or, after completing Hunted!, go to the Great Temple of Balthazar and use the Profession Changer (NPC) there). See also Professions#Changing_secondary_professions. Biscuits 10:59, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
13 Canthan Protector Missions
What are the 13 missions required for the title "canthan Protector"? i can only find 12, and Wiki only lists 12, but the Canthan Protectot Title Track indicates there are 13 missions. Please list them for me so I know what I am missing. Thanks--75.49.19.120 22:59, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- looking over the page listing the missions, I think you missed the Unwaking Waters mission. It has 2 tiers, and I believe that the kurizk side and the luxon side both count as a point to the title track. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that, though. -- Wandering Traveler 23:24, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, it's not Unwaking Waters, as there are two teams for that mission (one from Luxon and one from Kurzick side), but whichever side you do, it still counts for the title. If you played through the Luxon side of the story, you did Gyala Hatchery (which Kurzicks don't get to do doing Kurzick side). If you played through the Kurzick side, you did Eternal Grove (which the Luxons don't get to do doing Luxon side). Soooooo... you have to grab the other side's quest (Journey to Cavalon/Journey to House zu Heltzer) from Jamei in Maatu Keep and continue from there. Excitement! --Dragon nataku 23:55, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Getting Prestige Armor
I know Prestige armor grants no bonuses other than awesomeness, but I really want my Elite Kurzick set. My Guild is small, made up of only my friends who I know from outside the game. Meaning there is like... 5 of us in it. So gathering the necessary funds and materials I have had to do on my own, since I am the most experianced and wealthy player in my Guild. I have no help. It has been tedious and challenging. I am still impossibly far away from getting it.
Can you offer any hints or advice on how to gain the money and mats as quickly and efficiently as possible?--209.89.199.176 23:32, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Everyone will say "If you want to get the money, farm," which is true. Now, as for materials, I say salvage everything you don't need by using an Expert or Superior salvage kit (for rare materials). If you know what materials you need for your armour, type that material into the search field in this Wiki and the resulting page should have a link that says something like "See Category:Contains dust for other items" which will give you a list of things that will salvage into that material. Now, in regards to the amber chunks needed for Kurz armour, I'd suggest trading in Kurzick faction for the chunks at one of the Kurzick Bureaucrats hanging around in places like the guildhall or House zu Heltzer. I hope that helps!! --Dragon nataku 00:04, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

I have a better explanation as to what they are doing there. See... Kormir wasn't always the first in line for Spearmarshal. There were these two other dudes, whom we shall call Bob Bobertson and Tom Thompson, who were also "rising stars in the Sunspears." So Kormir killed them and encased their bodies in these random pillars next to some random hill on the Plains of Jarin, and claimed they were her personal monuments to the Gods, so no one would question why they were there. Then, a rather large and clumsy Iboga (who was possibly also drunk) stumbled into both pillars, breaking them open. But fortunately nobody except that res shrine guy nearby hangs out there, so nobody noticed the bodies there... until the guy who made this post stumbled along and found them. DUN DUN DUUUUUN!! What will Kormir do now? --Dragon nataku 20:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

- I'm not sure I understand the question. If you only have the Factions campaign, you will not have access to Tyrian armor, or Eye of the North. If you already had Prophecies and Eye of the North, all you needed to do was add the game key to your account. Then you would have access to all 3 areas.-- Wynthyst 03:45, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) I....think I understand. If you bought the game of the year edition only, then you can only access bonus weapons only. Eye of the North is Not included in the GOTY edition. As for why you can't buy any armor from tyria.....I'm not sure about that one. Are you talking to the right Armor Crafter perhaps? Armor of tyrian descent can be found at different armor crafters in Factions, if I'm not mistaken......expand on your problem though, it may help. -- Wandering Traveler 03:50, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Ah, my brilliant mind has finally figured out what "fuzed" means... I won't bore you with the details (not because you already figured it out the first time. Of course not!). In related news, another scenario could be that he started a Factions character and has not yet gotten to the point where he can travel to Tyria. The last scenario is that he perhaps had a dream where he was playing GuildWars instead, and is just confused. Or maybe that only happens to me. --Dragon nataku 06:11, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
If you travel to Prophecies with your Assassin or Ritualist, you can't buy any armor for them. Factions wasn't out yet when those armor colectors and crafters were born. You can get weapons for them in Drok's, but you'll have to beat Hell's Precipice to do it. (mendel 84.128.223.171 07:42, 27 May 2008 (UTC))

Spurious information in dungeons/missions/quests
First, I'm not an old-timer. I just bought Prophecies a little over a month ago, and added Factions, NightFall and EOTN a short time ago. So I'm pretty vague on a lot of things, and have the unfortunate curse of having to walk into a lot of areas with absolutely no idea of what I'm walking into. What I would like to know is if there is some way to disable meaningless distractions and overt in-your-face display butchery while in critical areas of the game? What are meaningless distractions? Well, those "You have been playing for X hours. Please take a break" notices. And of course there is character chatter. I could, naturally, shut off team chat for that, but sometimes somebody might say something kind of important. About something that wasn't recreational fishing. As for in-your-face display butchery, occasionally (and I only noticed this since I ascended) dialogs between characters will actually pop up a picture of the character speaking and what they are saying. Right smack dab in the center of the display. Precisely where, for example, the thing I'm trying to kill would be standing. Assuming I could see it anymore. That never seems to happen in towns or outposts, where it wouldn't make any difference. It does happens in explorable areas where, for example, a bunch of monsters might have just dropped out of the sky or popped out of the ground, or maybe there isn't any immediate threat (unless you count those three rather large groups of monsters closing from different directions that you're trying to get away from). This is like those cutscenes you occasionally stumble into right in the middle of a fight, where the things trying to kill you don't stop - your PC simply stands there waiting to die while your physical self is being brought up to speed on something that would be just as useful if you knew it, say, when you weren't being killed (or were already dead, for that matter). Yes, I know. Avoid the cut-scene or dialog chatter. Did I mention that I'm new? I don't know it's going to happen, or where. Put a nice red 'x' on the mini-map where I'm going to be interrupted, and I'll know not to go there until it's safe to do so. And the chat area allows you to turn off everything else, why not "Useless and unimportant system notifications" and "Meaningless NPC trivia"? When I get to an outpost, I'd be positively thrilled to go over them. When my PC is safe. --Yrthwyndandfyre 22:32, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- My only suggestion to that would be: Have you thought about playing a complete different genre of games, like shooters? Or playing the game, but in a different instance like PvP? The PvE part of MMOGs doesn't seem to be your kind of thing.--Fighterdoken 22:37, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- There's no way to disable the "You have been playing for # hours ..." messages, IIRC they were added for legal reasons. -- Gordon Ecker 22:47, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- (edit conflict x2) Too bad about that, Gordon. I'd love to never see that thing again. If I can and want to play for 15 hours straight, I will. I shouldn't have to put up with that stupid notice every hour ON the hour for the entire duration that I'm playing. And outta curiosity... What legal reasons? - Raknor - Talk 23:04, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- You can disable the pictoral dialogues by going into the Options window, going to Interface (or whatever the tab is named) and in the checkbox list of interface elements, uncheck the ones named "Dialogue 1" and "Dialogue 2" (I think those are the exact names, they might be slightly different). Plus, you know, they paid for the game as much as you did, so if they want to talk about "recreational fishing," they can? *shrugs* Games are there so people can have fun, and some peoples' fun may just happen to include things like talking about fishing or cheese or the dust bunnies that live under their beds (perhaps with pointy teeth). Also, regarding the "legal issues" of the game asking you to take a break... Also, staring at a computer/TV screen for varying lengths of time causes eye fatigue, amoung other things the names of which escape me at the moment. --Dragon nataku 23:01, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- (edit conflict x2) First off, Welcome to GW and the Wiki, Yrth. I agree with you that the "You have been playing for X hours" is annoying, but unfortunately, there's no way to turn that off, as Gordon mentioned. The dialogue in your face, with the character portraits, however, can be turned off in the Options (F11) -> Interface. They can also be moved to a different section of the screen there as well. And since the dialogue from the portraits shows up in the Team chat, you can review that at your leisure when you're not fighting (in the mission/dungeon/etc.) if you miss anything. Dang edit conflicts.... grr. - Raknor - Talk 23:04, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Yrth, you mean like that Shining Blade Scout Ryder person (or whatever her name is) in Iron Mines of Moladune who keeps shouting about bodies every two seconds until you leave the area? Otherwise, I can't really think of NPC's saying irrelevant things without you talking to them. --Dragon nataku 00:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think you ever get the portrait dialogue popups he's talking about in Prophecies. They tend to just spam un-logged chat bubbles (in the same way that Koss and company won't shut up about a map if you only go to Elona long enough to get them and leave ...). (I'm guessing that they made the dialogue system later to keep people from missing stuff, actually; I remember trying to read Rurik's invocation in the Surmia mission while constantly looking the other way and getting in fights ...).--Star Weaver 02:06, 28 May 2008 (UTC) (Whee, browser lag + trying to add sig = edit locking myself ...)
- I second the suggestions to turn off the dialogue boxes, and altering the UI to your liking. The mission objectives box might be best to move, since it seems that some things, such as Mad King Thorn's Simon Says game doesn't show up in the char box IIRC. Yukiko
- Actually, Mad King Thorn's Simon Says commands do show up in the chat log, they just always get pushed off the screen in under two milliseconds because of everyone and their mother doing the emotes (unless you have emotes turned off). --Dragon nataku 06:26, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

- Zhed. In the Kodonur Crossroads mission. "Don't take the garrison yet, we're not ready.". No, I'm not, I'm just going around it to get the bonus "Don't take the garrison yet, we're not ready." objective taken care of, which means "Don't take the garrison yet, we're not ready." engaging in combat while crossing and "Don't take the garrison yet, we're not ready." recrossing the line that triggers "Don't take the garrison yet, we're not ready." this stupid message in my "Don't take the garrison yet, we're not ready." face. There are Texmod modules that make your UI mostly transparent. Probably for a reason. (mendel 84.128.194.152 16:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC))
- The alternate solution is to just eat Zhed's face. ... sure, he can still talk, but instead of "Don't take the garrison yet, we're not ready" it'll mostly be things like "Owwwww!", "MY FACE!!", "OMFG WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?", and "AAAHH, THE PAIN!!", which are a lot more amusing and varied. Also, shorter and therefore take up less of the screen. Fortunately, there is no such thing as PETA or the SPCA in GuildWars... :oD --Dragon nataku 17:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Most of the concerns raised has already been answered. I've long moved the dialogue windows a little off the center so they don't block the view. Try hitting F11 sometimes and tweaking it to your liking. The point not answered is the mentioning of getting attacked while in cutscenes. It was changed long ago that you do not lose health while getting attacked in a cutscene so don't worry about it. -- ab.er.rant 17:29, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I missed that part of the question. Actually, a few days ago we were doing the Minister Cho mission, and during the whole conversation with the little kid, Togo was being spit on by the last remaining normal enemy, which one of our henches was hacking at, and nothing died. It was very odd. "Hey kid *ugh!*, where's *ow!* your mommy? *whud!*" sort of thing. Also, very loud. --Star Weaver 18:27, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Lightning Damage
Hi, How can i get lightning damage on a pair of daggers? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:80.194.30.129 (talk).
- A Dagger Tang type of upgrade component with Shocking -- if you have one, double click it and click on the daggers. If you find another set of shocking daggers, use an expert salvage kit on those to GET the tangs. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Star Weaver (talk).
Aggo zones - any rhyme or reason?
Much of the time, it's perfectly fine to aggro a party and engage it, sometimes with another party in plain sight. I think I know how it works. A single monster has an 'aggro' circle, as it were. You have to get inside that circle to provoke a response. Once 'aggro'ed, the circle expands from that monster to aggro others within it's aggro circle, so the group will become aggro'ed as a whole. As long as you hold your position, you can usually finish the one group, set up, and then go after the other group. This is fairly typical, and what I have come to expect in terms of monster response. In some cases, though, you might engage a lone monster with every reasonable chance of success, but for some reason, that one aggro will 'call in' every monster of that kind and every other, from everywhere in the min-map - and it seems sometimes from places even beyond that. Like the monster's 'aggro circle' suddenly got 20 times as large. I'm not talking about the infinitely respawning monsters here - that the game has those at all is a vast disappointment, but that isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about monster groups that I recognise from my reconnoiter of the area. Groups that were nowhere near the group I decided to engage. There are, in fact, monsters that seem to 'aggro' completely independently and start hunting the team like they have radar and aircraft surveillance. So in some cases, you might be able to walk right through a bunch of monsters, well within your aggro circle, as long as you don't actually attack anything, while in other cases, monsters will come hunting you from places where you haven't even been yet. So the question is this. Is there any rhyme or reason? At the least, behavior should be predictable within species. If you see a spider, and you know that spiders are telepathic and will call in every spider within 500 kilometers, that's a behavior. You can plan around it. If some monster will arbitrarily become telepathic for no obvious reason, that isn't a behavior. That's just a random death sentence. Gameplay-wise, it's no better or worse than your party wandering through an area and the game just arbitrarily decides to strike them dead on the spot. If anybody can explain the 'rules' to me (assuming of course that there are any), I'd really like to know. --Yrthwyndandfyre 23:57, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think the behaviour you're seeing has to do with that monsters are always created together in groups, and if any member of a group is aggroed, all other members of that group aggro, even if they've spread far apart as some groups like to do... --Star Weaver 00:03, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Also remember that in Hard Mode, the aggro circle is much larger than in Normal Mode. -- Wynthyst 00:05, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Also also, some enemies have really insane aggro ranges (like Kournan Spotters, and that stupid Molotov Rocktail guy), but I don't quite think you mean this. On a semi-related note, in regards to your "the game just arbitrarily decides to strike them dead on the spot" thing... there is actually a section of the game that does that. Made me go ^O____O^;;; when it happened to me, and since then I've had a phobia of yellow sand... --Dragon nataku 00:44, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
actually, to aggro, the monster has to get into your aggro range, in which case the monster's party (all monsters which are attached to it, independant of range as said before) will engage you. other nearby monsters will in some cases also attack and in some others they may stay away. this depends on the attachment settings. some exceptions (like kournan spotters) have an aggro range of their own, and they might be attached to a group. There's other cases where one boss and/or his group is attached to several other groups of monsters (speaking of Mungri Magicbox). in this case, you can attack the other groups seperately, but if you attack the boss group, all attached groups will also come. - Y0_ich_halt 11:27, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- oh, to complete that, wyn's info: in hm, all monsters get an aggro range of their own. - Y0_ich_halt 11:28, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- And two last things that Yrthwyndandfyre raised that was not yet explained. First, regarding the "lone" monster, those are just individual creatures that wandered a little far from the original group. They're not really "alone", just a little away from the other members of its group. If you watch a mob long enough, you'll sometimes see one of them wander a little far off. That depends on the creature type, certain monsters are more prone to wandering further. And lastly, enemies that don't attack you on sight are restricted to the newbie/tutorial areas only. They're meant to be less dangerous for new players, it's not a "random" behavior. -- ab.er.rant 03:34, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- It also might be worth noting that some monster groups seperate, so when you aggro one straggler, some 6 other buddies come to it's aid because their attached, just farther apart.- Vanguard 12:00, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I think it shows up more in communities where most of the people say much less, but much more often -- 109 words almost seems like the low-end for a non-trivial answer on a wiki . . . . --Star Weaver 14:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

- First, sign with four tildes. Second, if you open your inventory window (the one with the armor view), you should see a garbage can at the end of your inventory icons, like the backpack and bags. Drag and drop in there. --Chaiyo Kaldor talk contribs 01:53, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

quivering blade sword
i have checked www.wikiguildwars.com it states in there boss sun the quivering in wajjun bazar suppose to drop this sword sometime. have worked 5 characters from proph nf and fact. a whole lot of stuff but no sword???? was wondering was this drop discontinued???? thanks
- no, the Quivering Blade is still dropped. but it is a green item and therefore has a very low drop chance, so it might be that you need more than 50 tries to get even one of them. it's a matter of luck. and you should go solo or with heroes and henchmen only, because otherwise the drop might get reserved for someone else. - Y0_ich_halt 20:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Also, that boss doesn't appear if you have the quest Seeking Brother Tosai active. -- Wynthyst 20:06, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Also, if you go with heroes/hench, you'll want to send them elsewhere while you solo the boss, so they don't steal your drops. --Dragon nataku 04:31, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Err...they'll "steal" your drops as long as they're in your party, whether they're nearby or not.Cassie 09:55, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- ... wot? It didn't used to be like that... Did somebody change something while I wasn't looking? I don't do much "solo" farming (read: not at all). I call shenanigans on Anet! --Dragon nataku 18:08, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

- It may be more time effective to get people in Kaineng Market (or Nahpui Quarter) to drop the blade. Putting up a wanted notice in the party Search and posting a WTB message every minute or so should do it. (mendel 84.128.219.181 10:28, 1 June 2008 (UTC))

Nightfall: Sebelkeh Bascilica Bug?
Is it normal for the Torment Rifts in the Sebelkeh mission to "recapture" themselves when there is no enemy near? I have taken another character through before and I don't remember this. Now, after I capture a rift and get the message that the rift has been closed, the rift capture bar slowly works its way back and the rift re-opens after about a minute or so. There is no arrow(s) to show it's being captured. Even if I set a hero at the rift, it will eventually just reopen even if the Blasphemy hasn't been anywhere near to reopen it. I've contacted ANet, but I thought I would see if anyone else has seen this. --71.213.104.59 04:50, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
