pre-searing charr bags and salvage kits
- → moved from Help:Ask a wiki question
dear gw we have an inequality here i think. now i know that drops are random but this is bordering on the ridiculous. i have vanquished the charr bosses 53 times with not 1 single charr bag or salvage kit or dye. while i have talked to others with 58 runs accumulating 9 charr bags 4 slavage kits. 1 person 1 run 2 charr bags black dye. ok i understand also that the drops do come in groups sometimes. just wanted to point this fact out. i wont give up so hopeing for better results in the future.70.95.155.138 13:53, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- thank you very much. 55 boss runs got my 1st charr bag. haha now i know you guys dont work that fast but thank you. look forward to more good times. keep up the good work.70.95.155.138 15:24, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Random drops are random. I got three or four black dye in two days once, but my partner didn't and we can go weeks without seeing any. In any case, no one did anything to make you have better drops. No one offical reads these help: pages unless you count wiki admins, who aren't part of the game's staff. Massive Downlaod
I've just been hit with a massive download!! Bout 21000+ files. Is this happening to everyone?? Or is there some badass virus on my computer obliterating all my stuff??--60.229.30.251 10:50, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Could be either or. Did you do something dumb, like delete GW.DAT? Because if you did, that's why. Or is this your first time playing? That could be it too. I don't know of any virus that would be dumb enough to delete a 6+ GB file for no reason at all, but I guess it's possible. If you're -imaging it, that might be why but if you were doing that I figure you'd know what the heck you were doing anyway. --Jette 11:09, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yer looks like it deleted itself?? Weird.....anyone have any explanation for this???--60.229.30.251 13:23, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- GW.DAT won't delete itself, and there are very few viruses that I've ever heard of that would delete something as random as GW.DAT. (Not to mention, any of those viruses would have deleted plenty of other files, as well.) I'd suggest running a virus scan, first and foremost. Is there anyone else who uses your computer? ··· cedave 15:26:56 CSUTC 21/12/24

Nope, I'm the only one. Mmm that was my mindset when the download popped up. A virus wouldn't do that...oh well....guess ill just hav 2 download the 6GB -_- If any1 esle has any thoughts on this or have experienced this before please leave a comment :)--60.229.30.251 07:13, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- On the bright side (yeah, right) it's only about 3,5 GB, and the files you're downloading a compressed, so it may be a bit less even. — Poki#3 (talk) 08:43, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

hi please help me, I accidently finished a mission , can i erase it, I was trying to make this character a ferrying character and i finished the quest the time is nigh, because it still was not allowing me to ferry people in the game, and i read on wiki that it was suppose to. please help me erase that misssion so that i might try again to ferry people thank you . --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.18.134.243 (talk).
- You won't be able to delete the completed quest. The only way you'll be able to make a ferry character is to re-roll and level him or her up again. Insaneasylum 12:04, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Here's how to ferry players to Consulate Docs:
- Finish either Battle Preparations (Nightfall character) or A Land of Heroes (Prophecies/Factions character).
- Map travel to Sunspear Great Hall and take The Time is Nigh from Castellan Puuba.
- Map travel to Kamadan and talk to Second Spear Binah to access Churrhir Fields.
- Wait until Kormir finishes her speech and talk to her.
- Map Travel back to Kamadan
- Gather party (players you want to ferry). Kick Heroes so up to 3 free players can be ferried at once.
- Walk into the Consulate.
- Talk to Assistant Hahnna to begin the Cutscene.
- Bravo. You (and your party) arrived in the Consulate Docks.
- If you want to ferry more folks, do not accept the quest reward; instead, abandon it and redo steps 2 through 9. --NIN37 01:51, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

soundtrack access key
Were do i put put the soundtrack access key for guild wars nightfall collecters edition? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:67.174.147.119 (talk).
- When you log in there is a Manage Keys button, click it and then click add key. If you added any other key to your account before then you just do the same thing with the music key. Drogo Boffin 21:12, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Shouldn't the soundtrack access key go in DirectSong? Except that DS seem to have abandoned the soundtrack offers - the rights-management stuff is buried deep within the site with no obvious way to find it. --snograt 21:25, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, DirectSong is a problem right now. They had a site redesign, apparently got some sort of partnership with "Naxos" or whatever, and started offering some weird music. Also, it's not in DRM-free MP3 format, and not WMA. Unfortunately, the Collectors editions are not available for re-download as mp3s, and nether is the Sorrow's Furnace mini-pack. Also, an unedited GuildWars.ds looks for WMA files, and not MP3 files. DirectSong still has their WMA files available for download here, but I'm not sure how would you activate them after the site redesign. I'd try downloading the appropriate pack, and trying to run "99_License.wma" in Windows Media Player. A window should popup asking for your DirectSong account information, and hopefully you'll be able to take it from there.
- As far as running the music in game, after you get it to run in Windows Media Player, create a folder for the music where you want it to be, and place the folder with the soundtrack in there (for instance My Music/DirectSong/Sorrow's Furnace Mini-Pak/*.mp3). Run RegisterDirectSongDirectory.exe to mark that folder, and place ds_GuildWars.dll and GuildWars.ds in the main Guild Wars folder. The newest dll is here and the newest GuildWars.ds here.
- I'm downloading one of the GW soundtracks that I didn't buy right now, I'll see how it works and maybe I'll have better instructions. Personally, I'm really disappointed in the state of DirectSong right now. No DRM is very nice, but the site looks like it's selling out. — Poki#3 (talk) 23:18, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, a checked a bit. Yes, a popup window does come up, but my license numbers for the soundtrack where 0, and there was no place for me to enter a code. I dug up my Nightfall Collectors Edition, and the link provided in the booklet with the key is dead.
- There's one last thing you can do: Go to DirectSong, click "login" at the bottom, and create an account using the fields on the right. After you have an account, go to their support page. Click "Submit a ticket", enter your name, e-mail (probably the ones you used when setting up your account), category (I'd go with "Website", "General" or "WMA"), priority (definitely "High"), enter a subject and write to them about your problem, that you bought a Nightfall CE and wanted to redeem the music code in it. Write them the code, and hopefully they'll get in touch soon. — Poki#3 (talk) 00:07, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

mission glitch?
I'm doing "the Missing Vanguard". my green mission indicator wants me to talk to Bonwor Fierceblade in the Doomlore Shrine for the part of the quest titled "Assault on the Stronghold". However, when I talk to him, the green mission indicator doesn't move and the only option i have in interacting with him is "I'll be on my way". I dont want to abandon the quest so what should i do?
- Hmm, I did this about a month ago but I can't remember the actual order of clicking ye questgivers. Looking at the info on the wiki ... Assault on the Stronghold does not use Bonwor Fierceblade as a contact, he's just included as an ally. Assault is given by Roan Fierceheart in the Dalada Uplands, not inside Doomlore. The preceeding quest What Must Be Done is given by Bonwor in Doomlore, though.
- Is the marker shown on Bonwor when you select The Missing Vanguard or Assault on the Stronghold? Since Assault is a sub-mission of Missing Vanguard, the latter's quest marker might not mean anything while you're working on the former? Hmm. --Star Weaver 16:18, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Haircuts !!
Hi i want to know if i can change my haircut ?
- Anatomical Engineer Llye in the Great Temple of Balthazar can change it for you, however you'll need one Makeover Credit. A pack of 5 Makeover Credits is available in the Guild Wars In-Game Store for $9.99 / €8.99 / £5.99. There's no way to change your character's physical appearance without buying the Credits for real money, short of deleting the character and making a new one. — Poki#3 (talk) 23:05, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well, you could try e-mailing support about it and tell them you bought one but it didn't go through. Just keep pestering them until they let you change the character. Technically though, I think that might qualify as fraud. --Jette 00:02, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Help
hey, I've been having this problem where I lose connection with the server several times a day. My internet connection is at 4/5 bars at my desk so it isn't a problem on my side(I hope). I went through and added GWs to the list of exceptions for my firewall so that's not a problem. There is no real pattern to when it decides to disconnect so I have no idea whats wrong. Hope you guys can help.--99.38.195.48 01:08, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- I would try contacting support (using the link at the top of the page), they can provide you with the diagnostic tools that might help them track the problem. Keep in mind your internet connection goes through several different points of access before actually connecting to Guild Wars, and especially if you are working on a wireless network, any number of outside variables might be creating your problem. -- Wyn 02:14, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
hardmode
when u finish hardmode in a campaign do your other characters have hardmode --173.27.177.203 03:20, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Once a single character on your account has beaten a campaign, all your characters can access hardmode. Completing the Vanquisher or Guardian titles is done per character, so no, finishing hardmode in a campaign does not give those titles to all your characters, just the one you did it on. -- Wyn 03:41, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- One caveat, the character must be level 20 to access hard mode. Freedom Bound 12:23, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

and where can i find it ty --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Joeydeleon (talk).
- Hi, two things first, please create a new section when you're asking a new question (the + sign in the header will do that for you easily), and also, you can sign your comments with 4 ~'s, that way people know who's asking. But, to answer you question, the easiest way is to open up the map-travel map and look at the icons for each mission. Just find the one that doesn't indicate you've reached the "master" level. Since you're only missing one, you can also look at the three individual titles to see in which particular campaign you're missing that one mission. Good luck (especially if it's Dunes of Despair that you're missing). :) Freedom Bound 13:05, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
(Edit conflict)
- Check Protector of Tyria.
- To get credit towards that title track, you must complete both Primary objective (aka "Mission" itself) and bonus objective (aka "bonus").
- In Prophecies, both Mission and Bonus are represented by swords crossing a shield:

The other option is to contact support using the link at the top of the page, the tech support staff would be able to take you through the appropriate diagnostic steps and help you to pin point what the problem is. -- Wyn 03:48, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- Did you recently get a new computer, or are playing on a different one? I was getting this for awhile. If you have an old video card (or integrated video), you won't be able to load some EotN areas. I think it's a shader issue. End-game bosses' health
I've played through the campaigns a few times and started wondering: Has anyone any information about how much health (and energy should they use any) the end-game bosses (Shiro, Abaddon, Gr. Destroyer, Lich) actually have (A few thousand health points at least as far as I noticed)? As I like to replay the end-missions (in different styles, mostly) the info would be kinda fun (and maybe even useful) to know. 195.189.142.220 23:39, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- It's nearly impossible to tell on a lot of bosses; a good number of them regenerate health over time, which makes damage calculations worthless.
- If I remember correctly, a few bosses have their health documented on their respective pages (Rotscale in particular has been noted to have around 20,000 health). I don't think any of those end-game bosses have been noted, however, and I don't know if it's possible for most of them. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 23:44, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- It's possible to estimate a foe's health by dealing a large and significant amount of damage to it (say, by using Grenth's Balance to steal 1,000 health), immediately taking a screenshot at very high resolution, and then carefully using measurements to determine what percentage of health was lost. This won't work on all enemies, since some like Zoldark the Unholy have strange things that make them die before or after they "ought to" have lost all their health. Vili 点 00:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

- If you've completed Mysterious Message but haven't taken either of the primary followup quests, Margrid the Sly and the Master of Whispers should still be in Jahai Bluffs. If you've completed For a Price, Margrid should be in Marga Coast just outside Yohlon Haven, if you've completed Secrets in the Shadow, the Master of Whispers should be in Dejarin Estate outside of Kodonur Crossroads. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 08:10, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
