User talk:Regina Buenaobra/Archive Random Chatter/April 2008
Thank you, all!
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I apologize for not being able to reply whilst I was at work today, but my first day was full of meetings, planning, some paperwork, deliverables, and the moving of furniture to make my workspace more conducive to productivity (at least for me).
I am looking forward to serving the Guild Wars community as part of the ArenaNet/NCsoft community team. I know many of you have concerns and/or are uncertain about how I will perform as a Guild Wars Community Manager. Some people are skeptical. I'm new. You all don't know me. It's understandable.
At this point all I can say is that I am going to do my best as part of the CM team to relay your feedback and advocate your wants and needs to the developers. At the end of the day, I am a link between you all and the development team. Whilst I may be able to exert some influence from time to time, that doesn't necessarily mean that decisions are ultimately taken by myself or other members of the community team. I will try and be as open about the process with you as I'm able, and try to address your concerns and criticisms about the game to the best of my ability.
I hope I can do well by the majority of you (I know that one can't please everyone).
Cheers,
--Regina Buenaobra 04:03, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
P.S. -- I won't have a mascot.
- Sorry for starting that thread in GWO, but it was all for good fun. I especially liked the "here is what I do" paragraph. You are the link between the developers, but more than our need to influence the developers (because there needs to be a balance between hard and push-button-to-win) is our need for a strong channel of communication. I mean you can see the UB-crisis already popping up on this page. Community problems should not get to that level. We should have had some short two paragraph Dev-Update on "perceived problems" of that magnitude.
- I think that is the best way to succeed. Make fans feel like communication is flowing both ways. Gaile did a good job when she said "I have related X to the devs" and "this is what the devs said on this issue." But, right now it seems very wishy-washy on which issues are spoken on... as there seems to have been large gorillas in the room from the beginning that A.Net chose to ignore rather than say here is why we decided this, you may not like it, but we stand by it. Thanks for listening and I hope you get through this painful week ;). --Ravious 12:51, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- If I recall correctly when UB was addressed to Izzy (I think on his talk page) He said that since it was a pve only skill, which are supposed to be overpowered already, and since it was one of the only 3 Pve only elites, he had no plans to change it. If you want Anet to say this is so and we stand by it, for your information they have. Kraken 16:19, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- You don't recall correctly. If that were the case everybody would not be screaming "you are ignoring it" and would be instead screaming "you are wrong." I took a peak in his Talk page, and even the Izzy-PvE Skill Talk page, I see no Izzy post on this subject. So your last sentence, full of righteouness and surity, sure is baseless. Now, I could be wrong... but at least I tried to look for what you made up. --Ravious 16:56, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'd like to start off by saying welcome! I see that quite a few have already wished the same. I think I understand your concerns, but I am looking at you taking this position with an open-mind. I know that others might compare you and might say you have "big shoes to fill". I believe that each of us are different and personally I will not be comparing you in anyway to the person that held the position before you. At the end of the day all that matters is that one does his or her best, and if this can be said all things will fall into place. Best of luck, and I am excited to learn more about you in the coming weeks! Archangel Avoca 20:32, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome Regina. All we can ask is that you do your very best and enjoy your work in the future. You bring your own experiences of Anet and Guild Wars to the position, so it is obvious your contact/relationship with the Developers will differ slightly for Gailes. I, like Archangel Avoca, will not compare you to Gaile (since I have never, in the almost 3 years playing, had contact or saw Gaile at all). Thus, I hope to see you ingame and look forward to you being an integral part of the Anet Team. The Bree Witch
- I too would like to welcome you to the community, wish you the best of luck and hope we don't scare you away. lol. chevy 10:01, 9 April, 2008
This is Where People Talk Ruin Page Headers
My wiki heart bleeds seeing an empty level two header! On a related side-note, if you need any help getting archive boxes, user page design or general wiki stuff to work, don't be afraid to ask. Amazingly, this wiki is one of the places were stuff might get done overnight if you simply wish for it ;-) --Xeeron 19:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed. (But I think this header was supposed to be something of a page header type thing :P) -- Brains12 \ Talk 20:57, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I am a bit of a wiki newb, so thank you in advance for all your help and suggestions. Even for 'ruining' my header. :-) --Regina Buenaobra 01:54, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Gaile's pages
On a serious note, Gaile has hundreds (?) of subpages. What do you want to do with those? Leave them? Move them into your userspace, changing "Gaile Gray" to "Regina Buenaobra"? Move them into your userspace under a "Gaile's archives" sort of umbrella? Or do you already have some sort of plan for them? Just tell us, and we'll help everything get organized in the upcoming days :) Calor 20:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey There
I just wanted to welcome you, as our new CRM. I know that you've already go tons of "Welcome" and "Hi" subjects on your page, but I just wanted to give you a warm welcome and be one of the first to welcome you before you become all big and famous. (Trust me, you will be) This is all so cool, because I'm guessing your probably gonna be our CRM into GW2. Also, a bunch of us at GWO (Guild Wars Online, one of the major forums, if you didn't know) have been wondering if the rabbit would become your "side kick" kinda like how the frog was Gaile's. We'd love for you to join us over there at GWO so we can chat and ask questions. (just a heads up, even though you probably would anyway) Btw, I take Spanish classes, and I have learned that an "obra de teatro" is a work of art in a theatre, so does your name mean "Good Work"? Sorry I have so many questions, but it's all so very interesting. Anyway, WELCOME! Underated Skill 01:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- The Rabbit is not a sidekick and there are no plans to give me a sidekick. I also have no plans to ask for a sidekick.
- I've been reading (lurking on) the GWO forums on and off under my handle, but today I created an account with my real name, for work. I'm sorry I didn't respond to your community's lovely welcome posts for me, but today was super hectic at work. Tons of meetings and some action-items to take care of.
- Yes, my last name does mean 'good work' as in a creation or work of art, rather than the act of doing work.
--Regina Buenaobra 02:58, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Cool, cool. Maybe you don't even need a side kick. :p Well, welcome to GWO!--Underated Skill 18:41, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Userboxes and page width
Just a note, due to the standard rendering size for userboxes, when you add in the left-hand menu column anything beyond 3 in a single row tends to span a greater width than a 1024x768 browser window, so having 4 in a row (as your current layout does in the final row) causes a scroll bar for people viewing at that resolution. You might consider rearranging them slightly so that they're in 3 columns max. :) (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 03:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for the heads-up! --Regina Buenaobra 02:28, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Hello ▼
Hello, glad to see you got the position. My fiance J.Kougar has been reading over your blogs and checking out your interviews and relaying the information to me, and you seem like a very qualified person for the job, and we have no doubt you'll do wonderful things for this community.
We would also like to thank you, as your Blog led us to some excellent gay gaming sites that we both found very interesting. It's nice to see some more diverse folks like us in this community, and we both look forward to seeing you in action in this new position. :) ~ Sabastian 03:20, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome and Gratulations from Visenna
Hello, Regina! I'm so happy you are CRM now. Mmm... When will we see your character and your real photo? :)
Salutations!
Welcome Regina,
to this nifty little game we call GuildWars. :) If you take the stick over from Gaile, then I assume you will have your hands full. It's not an easy task to sift through pages and page full of remarks and find the comments that really can make a change for the better. I wish you all the best in your new challenging position though. :)
it's refreshing to see a new face. As for sifting through pages and pages on forumboards, I recommend reading posts by [Gus], [Billiard], [JR], and of course [Ensign] to find some of the better player-sources on PvP. There are many more I could name, but those are a nice start. :)
With kind regards,
~ (Makkert

Generic Welcome
As the header suggests, this is pretty much a generic welcome here; congrats on your job, and a welcome to Guild Wars! (even though you've technically been playing Guild Wars from before you got the job, if I'm not mistaken.)
I've also got a question for you. Not sure if you've mentioned it anywhere, but we can expect to see you hanging around in-game sometimes, correct? International District 1 during events on occasion, etcetera...
Looking forward to seeing you if so! And I'll probably be seeing a bunch of you here. Perhaps you'll even have time to drop by GuildWiki occasionally. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:35, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome!
Welcome, Regina! I'm Lady Elina Elwvyan, or Chilli, and I welcome you on the behalf of the Forever Knights! (yes, I beat everyone else to it :P). If ya do end up with a sidekick may I suggest a moa? As I am a member of a roleplaying guild, my white moa, Ermintrude, had 6 chicklets yesterday. Dougal, Brian, Dylan, Zebedee, Florence and Moose. Dougal and Dylan have both gone to Elina's children, Florence was given to one of her cousin Aylin's newborn sisters, Brian was givent her husband, Clive and Zeb was given to Falcifer. Currently, Moose has no home, so if you'd like him, you can have him. *smiles* -Chilli
Hi!
Welcome to the legendary and amazing GW comunity. Can we see your picture, the 108 age is disturbing. Hello Regina! Welcome to the chaos, we sometimes hate to love, but never love to hate, called Guild Wars!! Thank you for coming into our lives and taking over so quickly. Hope to see that you bring great things for Guild Wars, just like Gaile! BTW. Booo kurzick! Yay mesmer + SS!! ;) I hope to see you around in PreSearing and sometimes in other places. Welcome
Just wanna say Welcome to our BIG HAPPY FAMILY of Guild Wars...GW ROCKS!!!!! I can't find Gaile's suggestion page anymore cause stupid me didn't bookmark it when I saw it during the party weekend oh well so...here goes I have a suggestion for the game to make...... it would be really cool to see Talon Silverwing as a Hero. I really like him as a henchie it would be really fun to have him as a Hero.
Welcome!!
Welcome to the Guild Wars team! Im sure youll do a great job! YOu have big shoes to fill since Gaile Gray left but Im positive youll fill them fine! Again Welcome, and good luck! Some addons such as sorrows furnace would be nice too!:)
Tiny bit of info
Buenaobra means Good Deed (or good theater play, or good work of art, or good construction) in Spanish. Having someone named Good Deed on the community team is sure to be a good sign. Greetings on behalf of the Argentine GW population! (which can probably be counted with your fingers) Also, Regina means Queen in Latin. It's like you're... the Queen of Good Deeds :P. Anyway, welcome and best of luck! (forgive any mistakes in my English, it's not my first language)

Welcome to Guild Wars Wiki. I would have replied to another one of the headers above, but there are so many to choose from, so I'll start my own. Anyways, if you got any questions about how GWW works or the rules of it, feel free to ask. — ク Eloc 貢 00:47, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Regina!
Hi! I'm a regular user of the wikis (spanish and official) and an active article writer in the spanish. As a spanish player I talk with Peter, but I'm glad you're here. --File:Haldamir.png 04:33, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Greetings, I have a few questions
Hello Regina! Welcome to the Guild Wars community. I see the community ahs given a warm welcome, as I do. I hope you can help us greatly, just as Gaile did before you.
My first question-What is one of your characters names? I have looked all over your userpage, but have found no clue. If you do not wish to give me any of these names as they are private to you, that is ok with me.
My second Question-As you may know, Gaile used to arrive in towns and answer our questions. Will you be doing the same?
My Third question-Gaile usually appeared at Community organised events such as the Mursaat Rally (sorry I keep using Gaile as an example, she is the only example I have). Will you be doing the same?
My fourth question (dont worry, its not a question about you)-When characters arrive in Guild Wars 2, I understand they will be able to go back in history to Guild Wars 1. Will their Guild Hall be accesible in Guild Wars 2, without having to go back into Guild Wars 1?
Thnk you for answering these question (I hope it doesnt take you to long!).
Best wishes, --Burning Freebies 13:53, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Lots of hellos, I'll make it short
Hi its Sabre Wolf again... once again congrates on you new job, which you illuded to in you blog that you used to write about the game and now you work with it... so I hope this will make you very happy getting to work with something you love doing in the spare time.
I have a couple Q's and I will try to make them short... 1.) Will there be a way for the developers to Rank Balthazar Faction? Like 600,000 Faction = x Rank? Not everyone battles in HA and that is the only real PvP ranking system that out there (other then Ab of corse) but the Balthazar Faction itself is earned in all facets of PvP, and I think it would be nice to have a rank system for that tallied portion of this game. So would it be possiable?
2.) My other question is, how do you want to most impact the game? What is the one thing you would like to be a part of, now that you are at a place of "authority" or "voice" for everyone that play in the game... what is you first most impactful or important thing to you for this great game of ours?
Thanks! SabreWolf 00:01, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ranking for balthazar faction!? I got 3mil, and I didn't earn that, it's just something that's accumulated through time. Not something that's worth ranking for...
Umm lol hey Regina

Welcome and Questions!
Gaile had The Frog to help her. Do you have an animal companion, or are 10 minions more useful? Also, speaking as a fellow MM, what does Anet think about the Rit/N Minion Bomber? What is being done to make it easier for a human player to MM, as compared to Heroes? Are we going to see a Minion Party Panel or an easier way to target/scroll-thru our minions? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:BarGamer (talk).
- Please sign using ~~~~. Thanks. As for her having a mascot, she said no in her first post all the way to the top. -- ab.er.rant 05:26, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- A minion panel would be a great idea. Rangers got one for their pet, even though pets were already listed in the party panel. To be able to see which of your minions needs healing, and which ones have death nova on them would make MM's a lot more human friendly. VegaObscura 06:28, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- No offense but a minion panel has been asked for for ages now, a perfect tool to enable the players to be able to achieve a superior level of gameplay when a MM... but do you think such a simple idea is on Arenanet's mind? Ohhh, and can she not have a side kick, side show ... thing... can we have an original person not a Gaile clone... Cause A Little Mayhem 06:51, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

just wanted to say after reviewing your blog (even some of the earlyer stuff). Think it will be great having you here :)

Just checking, Gaile's name is reserved and no one else can use the name "Gaile" in any name. If this is the case, what is going to happen to users who have chars called Regina. Near the End of Week 1
My talk page was getting a little long, so I archived it. Whew! Thank you for the comments, everyone!
So it's almost the end of my first week at ArenaNet. I've had tons of meetings, information downloads (to my brain), and have been continuing to read and follow the forums in the community.
Several of you have requested features or changes in my discussion page. The designers are not unaware of these issues, just because you arne't necessarily seeing action on these items doesn't mean that the devs aren't working on them. I had a meeting with the designers and we have a list of pressing issues in the community that will be tackled in the coming weeks and months. Several of you have contacted me privately through forum PMs to express your well wishes, to give me suggestions and opinions about the current state of the community. The vast majority of folks in the community have been really cool to me, which is awesome.
Next week, the Europeans are coming (yeah, all of them! :-P) so I and a bunch of other folks at ArenaNet are going to be super busy talking community strategy with Martin, Peter, and Julien.
Anyway, I just wanted to leave a note to tell you all what I've been up to. I'm probably going to create a separate page for this sort of thing, going forward.
Cheers!

- The table of contents box normally only shows up if a page is long enough and has at least four headings. You can force a table of contents to appear by adding __TOC__ wherever you want the table of contents to appear. -- Gordon Ecker 06:00, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's nice to see you have the PR cushioning down. Yet thats the one thing I dislike about the PR cushion it gives us as the community no clear indication on what Arenanet considers a 'hot' or 'pressing' issue. You will understand that the community is very large, extremely large a more fitting term, and there are many issues being discussed, and saying 'hot' issues is a very vague statement as there's no indication to what is considered a 'hot issue' by us or you guys, as employees of Arenanet. - Yep, I bet you are going to get the archiving down in no time flat.
- As to game updates, etc., I understand that your hands are tied to a certain extent, because a premature hint of an update to this or that can create a bunch of problems. It may be useful, however, to categorize the types of changes which are being contemplated, just to keep the community at large informed. While I'm not a big fan of polls, because it seems that everything then becomes 'poll driven' (which may or may not actually be representative of the majority's opinion, or what may even be GOOD for the game), it may be useful to conduct one every now and then just to see what the sense of the community is -- which areas need tweaking most. Free opinion, and worth every cent! Algonda 10:55, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hm... probably the 'pressing issues' are those that are more repeated in forums like PvP revival, Ursan, lack of storage, HoM (specially sorting statues) or the slowness of the current trading system. Well... I hope you do what you can and what is right.
- People will probably be expecting something 'big' in around the birthday date, like last year HM was added. I would lie if I didn't say I do same.
- I like secrets and surprises as much as I like knowing it all before it happens, so it's not a problem if you don't say a thing, as long as anything is done once in a while, and not only skill balances, like the latter events and the weapon contest. Although it would be great is someone brought back 'ye olde Scribe' once in a while.
- Polls would only be really useful if they were made in-game, for a long period (from 1 week to 1 month) and if they required a minimum of participation to be valid (from 51% to 99.9%, depending on the issue). Since it seems that you have a way to set server statistics and calculate things like 80% having 20 in storage, it would be just a matter of setting some variables and then calculate the numbers like you did whit those other variables.
- Nevertheless, you better take care well of our Peter!! (Hm... this is funnier if said Japanese: "Uchi no Peter")
- MithTalk 11:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Secrets and surprises are all well and good, yet direction is all the more better and far more productive. Secrets and surprises are good for things like events and weekends or when finally they just release a Guild Wars 2 trailer, but not for 'important things'. Personally, I respect conversation than this "there are issues, we can't say what we think they are (they may be different than what you think they are), but we're working on them (but can't define what they are), yet we're doing something" bull. It's a poor man's answer to a question he is too afraid to answer. Honesty is something everyone respects. Regina has already said "we have a list of pressing issues in the community", she herself confirms they have a list.
- Oh how wonderful would it if someone in Arenanet grow 'balls' (figuratively speaking of course) to say to us "Currently we see storage, ursan, the asuran (lol) and this-that-oh-and-this-too as big things we want to get on top of in the coming weeks and months, but we can't go into specifics about our plans just get. We're watching what you guys think and your efforts in expressing your views are appreciated and we are striving to develop solutions we ourselves are happy with and what we would be best for the community as a whole, but we think these issues are important at the moment to tackle. Thanks for your dialogue, community, we appreciate it."
- Now, that would invoke respect. But, I suppose I will have to be content with Regina's PR cushioning as I had to put up with Gaile's PR cushioning. *throws my "Gaile-PR-cushion punching-cushion" out the window and immediately punches my Regina-PR-Cushion-Punching-Cushion. ahhhhh, that's better* :D Cause A Little Mayhem 13:02, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- I understand your desire for information, but try looking at it from our perspective. This not about keeping secrets, but managing expectations. If I stated that we are working on a specific issue as a priority this month or this week, and then the priorities changed for whatever reason, and I couldn't even talk about why the priorities changed, there would be backlash from people complaining that we lied or mislead them. Additionally, if I listed a bunch of things we are working on, and the community decided that they vehemently disagreed that these issues should be priorities at all, yet they are indeeed extremely important issues from a design perspective, we would be accused of ignoring your concerns or having the wrong priorities. The developers do read the forums. They do greatly appreciate your feedback. Again, if you think about what issues right now are being talked about a lot in the community, you will have a good general idea of what it is we are working on. Thank you for your feedback. --Regina Buenaobra 14:42, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- While I do agree with your statements, I also think that somewhere/somehow lines of communication need to be strengthened. I hope (and probably guess) that will be a topic among the CM meeting. --Ravious 16:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- You do understand from a player perspective, nothings happening. We have no way of knowing what issues have been acknowledged and are being addressed. We are left in the dark. Better communication to the playerbase is required instead of the current silence. --77.97.7.92 07:41, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- The only problem with your statements is only by its communication. People are eager for information on what the developers are wanting, planning or listening to, this much is true. If there was a Developers Diary page that gave players the general info on what the developers are doing for that month that would be, in my opinion, the ideal. We would have information, a direct line not heavily detailed but still an insight. Yes, there is an issue of expectation or us not liking what you want to work on, yet we all know this is Arenanet's game and their decisions come first, there are also those who disagree, this will never change. You just can't hide behind it and you have to also except that the community, for the most part, is generally very mature. Putting a large, easy to read notice on the very top and as well bottom (just to make sure) of such a page stating it natures (developer priority over what players think - even stating if some of this is from player concerns or suggestions - or also that it may change). The nature is disclosed to us, and we an insight into Arenanet's direction... I mean, you say the developers read/listen to what players are saying, is it that hard to say just what you've been listening to? Cause A Little Mayhem 20:13, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

- I agree with only one thing "Cause a Little Mayhem" said and that this is a anet game and as such, making demands for knowing what devs are doing is completely out of line. We are players and they will share what they can with us as they can. Demanding more than that, in particular demanding to want to know the dev priority is really excessive. It's anet's game and they can do with it as they like. If you don't like the silence you always have the choice to leave and go to another game where they aren't silent. Although personally I've never found any other MMO which is particularly forth coming with information about what they are working on, on a week to week basis. -- Salome 21:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- We are, of course, each aloud to voice our opinion, thus the beauty of discussion. Also, I didn't make a demand, and I don't like the silence developers have for Guild Wars, thus why more and more of my time is spent elsewhere, mostly on games I can mod, attempting to fix things I see as wrong or misguided. :D Cause A Little Mayhem 00:16, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello
Hey! First I wanted to say congratulations on being the new CRM! Anyway, I noticed that you're Kurzick and "Brinstar" probably means you're a Metroid fan. I'm a Kurzick guild leader and a Metroid fan so I couldn't help but post to your talk page. I've been playing since the Prophecies beta and I'm still around working on my titles and helping people with whatever they need. When you get a chance to forget that you're the big important CRM and just get to work on your own characters send me a whisper (my main is Enemy Crusher) and I'd be glad to help. =) Kirbman 09:10, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Archiving
Brin, It might be an idea to make a sub page or an archive for "Welcomes", otherwise your talk page for the next month or so is gonna keep on getting bogged down with people all saying hello. Also may I suggest that maybe adopting Gaile's template for her talk page with the archiving etc..., for now until you get yourself set up on the wiki. As it will make your talk page much easier to handle. I don't envy you, you're gonna get spammed ALOT with the same questions over and over and over almost on a daily basis, but I'm sure Gaile has already gave you the heads up about it all. -- Salome 14:41, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Questions
He he. I just joined GuildWiki for this talk page. A couple questions. How do I make a new heading, and how do I sign? (How do I get a date up there?) -- Jeans 15:52, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- You can put some equals around it (=) for headings, or just click the + link next to the edit button up top and it'll give you one automatically. Signing should be done with four tildes (~~~~) to get name and date/time. — THARKUN 15:47, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Also, noticing that you edited a few times, presumably to fix mistakes and whatnot, there's a lovely little "Show preview" button down beneath the edit box so you can see what things look like. Its a nice feature that I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend.. ;) And just as a tip, if you notice my edits, they have one and two colons in front of them; each one indents the line a bit. In most conversations, its customary to indent each reply. So if you were going to post an answer to me, you'd put one more colon in front than my last comment, and it'd make a nice tree. — THARKUN 15:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Cool thanks. --Jeans 15:52, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Also this really isnt the page to ask those questions on. You should ask those type of questions on Help:Ask_a_wiki_question. Also a lot of your answers can be found just by looking at the raw wiki code. -- Salome 17:05, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

- You don't need to necessarely talk about PvP to play it. But ya, I'm interested what types you play also. — ク Eloc 貢 19:29, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

I'll throw my welcome in as well. I'm more than glad to have a new face to look at when I see Arenanet. I have no doubt you'll fill and overfill Gaile's place. 75.109.146.136 01:08, 13 April 2008 (UTC)Wyvern Stonehead
Mursaat Rally
It's still a bit unclear if you're the new Gaile on my end, but if you are I'd just like to let you know of the Mursaat Rally that's happening tomorrow at 12pm EST, 5pm GMT, and I think around 9pm PST. At any rate, you're invited to visit if you have the time. (Which seems unlikely what with the mentions of all the meetings and whatnot.) Gmr Leon 21:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Lol, I'm ashamed of myself. I'm a BaR member and I didn't know that the Mursaat Rally was tomorrow. Well, I'll try to go. It would be cool if Regina could attend to! I don't know if there will be as quite a showing as last year though.. Underated Skill 02:14, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Regina and congratulations on your position ! Shan from DVDF wanted to offer you a signature code for GWW uses, mesmer based as you seem to like mesmers according to your profile :)

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I wish you good luck with your new job! I'm hoping that you'll have a great time with the Guild Wars community!

Oh, btw...I like Metroid as well, although I'm not a big fan of the gamecube games...Fusion FTW!
- Of course, let's not forget, if Regina wanted an image for her signature, she'd need one uploaded just for that, so it could redirect to her userpage. ;D Perhaps Regina has a personal "logo" or something she'd want to use, on that note? - I think a decorated signature is better, so everyone can't oversee one of your posts. If you see the whole text on this talk page it's rather difficult to recognize something from you within the first sight (even you have a long name it's still in the same font height and weight and if someone has visited your page the color of the link is nearly similiar to black) :( At least a colorful, or bold text would be fine, plz. Name Pronunciation
There was a thread made at the Presearing Community About ya. It diverted into a discussion on how your last name was pronounced. I said myself it might be like "Boo-En-Ah-Ob-rah", but I could easily be wrong.- Vanguard 19:31, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Spanish pronunciation of that name would be, following this reference:
- Booe·nah·o·brah, with 4 syllables.
- Bu like in book,
- e like in ever
- The previous two sounds are pronounced once after the other, very close, forming a closing diphthong.
- p like in odd.
- na like in naught in nasty.
- bra like in ... well.. like in bra. Well, Spanish 'br' is more open. It's pronounced with a wider open mouth, sounds a bit like 'bara' with a really short 'ba'.
- But her pronunciation may not be the Spanish one, since she does not speak Spanish. Anyways, at least she can use the link I just gave to give her own pronunciation. MithTalk 20:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- The first syllable as you have it above sounds a little longer than I would say it. --Regina Buenaobra 01:09, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- If its the spanish pronunciaton it would be more like Bue-Na-O-Bra, im unsure of the sound on english, but pretty much likely you will have problems with the B and the Na. Since there is no info about where his parents are from I'm unsure, but "buena" and "obra" are spanish words. 190.79.187.193 13:10, 13 April 2008 (UTC) Dark Slayer

Its nice to have a fellow Mesmer as the relations manager. Just thought I'd say welcome and its great to have a Mesmer around in the higher ups. Perhaps we can get some Anet love now :D? Dean Harper 22:45, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

I like Mesmer; they're actually not terrible in PvE the way some people make them out to be. I just hate how it can be difficult to find a group at times; I wish more people appreciated "monk slaying". Oh, and HI! I doubt you'll see me much, but I'll be listening anyway. Miss Innocent 23:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Will Regina's GM char be a mesmer too~? :D --Zulis 00:42, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
You know its hard to agree with any of this, you cant really consider her a mesmer when she has a warrior paragon and necro as her main characters. That would be like saying someone who players touch ranger is a necro.--90.193.106.207 11:11, 18 April 2008 (UTC) -- Just to say, i am in fact a mesmer myself
Typical, another doubter. Regina considers herself a mesmer and some other character class wants to claim her. Did we get this for when Gaile said she was mainly a Luxon? a Ranger? a pirate? oh no, but when someone mentions a mesmer... anything but that right? By Lyssa's blood do you see what we have to put up with? Leave them in no illusion, dominate this new role and be fast (in) casting these doubts aside. You are an inspiration to us all Regina. Make us proud. Don Knowall 22:39, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
make other items stackable!!
just like any other "related" items are stackable is it possible to let runes, insignia, weapon mods, etc.. stackble?--Ridz16 19:09, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hm... make items that have traders and are never used in big stacks hoard-able... I'd rather make dyes not stackable and add weapon upgrade traders. MithTalk 20:01, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- Any item that you pick up, that does not have a price with it until you get to the merchant, can be identified to show a higher price. Sometimes only 1 gp more, sometimes alot more. The runes, insignias and such should be identified and will therefore be worth more than what you would origanilly get from the trader. So they are not stackable because of the difference in price between what seems like 2 of the same item. Chris98.209.30.104 01:29, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

In Game Store
I noticed recently that we finally have extra payment options in the Guild Wars In-Game Store, but I just wanted to draw your attention to the ridiculous pricing on some of the items if you choose the "pay by phone" option. I thought I would purchase an extra character slot, which is normally priced at £5.99 if you pay with the old option of a credit card (I don't know prices in dollars or euros). The price if you wish to pay by phone is £7.50, slightly more but it meant that I would have been able to buy it without a credit card. I phoned the number which is provided and the automated voice man tells you after a while that the calls cost £1.50 each minute and the call will last around 5 mins. This does seem a bit too pricey as it means that a character slot will cost at least £15 (thats presuming the call is 5 mins not more). For an item which is £5.99 if you pay by credit card, for £15 I could buy 2 character slots and have change. Say I wanted to buy two character slots by phone, that would cost me over £30, when someone could buy 5 character slots by credit card for that same price! Firstly the SMS/IVR was delayed a long time, and now when we finally get it everythng is at mad prices.
Im sorry for throwing this at you when you just joined but I thought I should tell someone. - FirstSunspear /// Talk 11:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Errrr..... Sunspear maybe i misunderstand how the call works but i thought that the way it operated was that you paid for the charecter slot through the price of the call. Thus it works out. The online shop says its £7.50 a slot if using the phone purchase option, thus if you phone them for 5 minutes at £1.50 a min = £7.50. If however its an extra £7.50 for the call on top of the price of the slot, then that's obviously out of order but I think you might have misunderstood and that in essence the reason its keeping you on the phone for 5 minutes at 1.50 a min, is to pay for the slot itself at 7.50. Hope this helps. -- Salome 11:18, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ok that makes more sense and ty for the response. I wanted to ask first really in case it was going to cost £15, now I can make that call to buy 1 not being worried about being overcharged that much. - FirstSunspear /// Talk 11:23, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- It was just an idea though mate, it's only how i believe it to work but i myself haven't tried it. So if you're not sure I wouldn't as i dont wanna cost you an extra 7.50 accidentally. -- Salome 11:24, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars "Cinco de Mayo 2008" Event!
Hi Regina! We hope you are settling in well to your new role at ArenaNet. We'd like to welcome you to the community and wish you good luck and success in your efforts. We, the Guilds of [LaZy] Nation, are the largest adult community-based guild in Guild Wars and will soon be celebrating our 2nd anniversary. We've been known to host events in the game such as Oktoberfest (Video of the Event - Created by Jack) and with spring upon us we thought it time to gather the community together once again. This time, we have a new event in our sites with the celebration of Cinco de Mayo 2008! We are close to having raised 50,000 ale!, in addition to the contributions being made by members throughout the community. We have plenty of contests planned for the event AND prizes galore ready to go! Drunkard Titles will be easy to achieve for those in attendance! We also have a really 'FUN and INSPIRING video' on our website for all to watch and help get them into the spirit of things! http://www.lazyimperium.com. We are both pleased and excited that we can offer this activity to the community and hope everyone has a grand time! Welcome, again, to the community and we hope you can attend the event! Cheers from the Guilds of [LaZy] Nation! - Mark, Leader Araliuns sun 13:44, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

(indent reset) This sounds like a fantastic community event, good on you folks for putting something together for the GW community yet again. I love seeing player/guild run events and it all looks like fun. I just wanted to point out briefly that it's not entirely polite to put an advertisement for a player/guild run event on Regina's personal talk space. I noticed that you did the same to Gaile with the Oktoberfest event and she removed it, saying "While I appreciate that you would like to promote this event, and while we are very happy that it will be held and are in total support player- and guild-created events of this sort, I cannot host this sort of content on my personal talk page." Look towards the bottom of this page if you'd like to see for yourself. Of course, it's totally up to Regina if she'd like to allow this kind of advertisement on her personal talk page, however it should be considered that Regina is still getting up to speed with her wiki and may not have seen it. --Bunny - Angel talk 11:22, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

From what I understand, you wanted to invite me to your event, and that's totally cool. In-game player-run events like this are awesome. However, the invitation looked a little like an advertisement. I'm not keen on having adverts plastered all over my talk page. If you would like to invite me to an event, that's super. In the future, perhaps the best way forward on this would be to simply have a couple of sentences about your event, with a link to your userpage where folks can get more information. It seems that some people (reading above) found your invitation very useful, so I wouldn't want to completely squelch that. But neither do I want this page filled with promotional material. Please use your good judgment. :-D --Regina Buenaobra 19:34, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

So what qualifies you for your position?
From your user page you say you were at Xfire before this, as community manager. The only similar thing is the community manager part (yet I do not know how many such positions exist within both Xfire and Guild Wars) but Xfire (a gaming application) and Guild Wars (a game) are two different beasts. So, what qualifies you for this position? How long were you with Xfire and why are you no longer there, if this can be asked of you to answer. There's a saying I heard recently "A community manager is an odd looking being, big ears and eyes, and a small mouth" having it explained that a CM looks, listen and directs people to the right place but says very little (not really their position to say so). There are several definations of a Community Manager (depending on company) and many people don't exactly know what you do in this position, to remove the fog can you give us more information into what you actually do as a CM as opposed to people just making assumptions. - Personally, I am free to question whatever I wish, as is anyone else, so that is what qualifies me to ask questions of anything. Secondly, my discussion was directed to Regina as to seek information and to clarify what she actually does, etc. The first part, as it clearly states is in regards to her time at Xfire and also clearly states "if this can be asked of you to answer", giving her choice to answer any part of that query. Secondly, I ask for more clarification as to what she actually does in this position as people (including myself) have conflicting points of view on her role as community manager. Purely an information gathering discussion. :) Cause A Little Mayhem 03:59, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. Please read my user page or the user pages of the other Guild Wars Community Managers. We have described our duties there in brief. - To be honest, I find it more than a little weird that you're demanding my qualifications when you have not done the same for the other Guild Wars community managers on their talk pages when they joined the wiki over a month ago. --Regina Buenaobra 06:44, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's cause you're Gaile's replacement and thus you have the dubious honour of being in the spotlight more than any of the other CM's. I'm not saying i agree with this person asking you these questions, as IMHO it's really rude to question anyone in such a manner. On a slightly related note but not a personal note, what are the general qualifications one would need to be considered for the role of CM? This isn't to do with you're qualifications, it's just that im curious in branching out of my current profession and trying something new, but not sure if I have the qualifications to even be considered. As in do you need to be bi-lingual? -- Salome 11:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- In general, CMs need to be good writers, since much of what we do is writing -- whether it's on forums or content for the website. Good communication and team working skills are essential, and with a globally distributed community management team such as for this game, it's even more critical. Knowledge of and passion for whatever it is (such as a game) are typically required, and past experience with communities and forums are good things. Good judgment and being able to keep your cool when participating in forums is important. You don't need to be bilingual, but if you are interested in serving a particular language community, it is required. It definitely is a huge advantage in many cases. Management experience, such as project management or event management would be advantages. Experience in public-facing fields, such as marketing and PR generally doesn't hurt either. At the end of the day, whether someone is qualified for the job is up to the hiring manager. I guess the answer to Cause A Little Mayhem's question is that I'm qualified for the job because the founders of ArenaNet decided that my past experience and skills made me qualified for it. If Cause A Little Mayhem still has further questions about that, perhaps he (she?) should direct questions to one of the company's founders. --Regina Buenaobra 18:49, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

- Wow. Just wow. It's a very rude question. Araliuns sun 14:30, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes it was, but this has also been very refreshing. Not only did the question not get wisked off to an archive, but it was answered very professionally. -- Inspired to ____ 19:55, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Not to sound rude but I never demanded anything of you, I stated a point, I asked two question and also "if this can be asked of you to answer" (ie meaning if you didn't want to answer this was understood from the get go). If you took my post as demanding, or rude, or whatever else anyone can think of it then I am sorry you felt this, yet your feelings are your own, you were given the understood option to not answer, nothing was demanded and I take offense to the notion I demand anything of you. I know very little of what a CM actually does and those I speak to have very little understanding of it also, the prior more public CM Gaile seemed to be godly amongst many posters and even asking something of her could invoke a storm of fanboy rage, so one learns quickly not to 'demand' anything. As per what Salome implied of you being Gaile's replacement, this is what directs me to you than any other CM, plus there's a direct link to you on the main page that funnels people directly to you, you are in a sense given priority over the other CMs in this sense as you are singled out. One can also ask, why is this?
- But I ramble. To summarize, if you feel offended in any way I can not change this, do I feel it warranted, no. Can I change it, no. Do I care, no not really. I merely posted in a fashion that I do, if you do not like it there's very little that I can do about that, your feelings are your own. As I said above when you posted, thanks for the information, it was fairly informative and gave me insight. Also, it was nice to see it actually answered ( I appreciated it), not wisked away as was posted above. Again, thanks again. Cause A Little Mayhem 04:39, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's the sheer fact that you feel that you are in a place to give Regina the option to reply or not. It's not! For example I could ask you "Now you don't have to answer this but if you will, what do you think qualifies you to be such an arse?" Is the fact that i gave you an option making this question any more polite? Also you said above "I merely posted in a fashion that I do, if you do not like it there's very little that I can do about that"; this is incorrect. One thing you could do, is if you cant help but be rude to people, is perhaps not post in the first instance. Also to Regina, thank you kindly for your response, As you can see I'm not particularly sure I'm cut out for the role as, unlike you, I don't seem to be able to respond to rude and obnoxious people in a civil manner, like you can. Also I would like to echo the sentiments of many people above, no offense to Gaile, but it is a breath of fresh air to have a CM who answers things in a professional and direct manner without just whisking things into archives or dodging the question. Once again I'm very impressed with your ability to not snap at clearly very rude people. I think I'm gonna have to work on that personally. Kindest regards -- Salome 16:59, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Perception is a fickle thing, what you Salome see as rude and obnoxious others may not or others may, all are entitled to their opinion, this should never be understated, and I appreciate your posts, even though I believe you paint me in a negative light. I feel you are right, option on reflection, isn't the correct term I should have use, it wasn't her option to reply, more her choice to respond. "if this can be asked of you to answer", it was her choice to respond, it was not a demand that she respond.
- My intention was not to be rude or demanding, I merely asked questions and for information and this information I received and I have been enlightened by it, I also thanked Regina, she could have made it a point to have inserted her viewpoint of my post in her first post, rather than leaving it to later and giving me a false sense there was no issue, but this can not be changed now.
- What you, Mr Salome, may see as being rude on my part I now see you doing, yet if I am to take your suggestion seriously you yourself are doing it far worse, you imply that I am rude for my post, yet you feel it upon yourself to 'suggest to me' a manner to post or to not post at all, believing your POV to be that of the absolute, that this is the it should be. You are in a multi-cultural, international area, not everyone follows things exactly to the way you wish them to be, and for you to feel it necessary to tell someone how they should be is very disrespectful.
- This has been growth experience for me, though I do not see what others see I have been made aware my ways may be misread, yet I have done nothing to break any rule, this will have to come down to personal growth if I don't find your attitude, Mr Salome, a little beyond abrasive. Your perception of me is just that, yours. It was not as if I posted "tell me what the hell makes you so special, Regina, give me all your details blah blah blah." My approach may have been abrasive to some, yet I still take offense to the notion I demanded anything, and also to the notion I am rude or obnoxious, as neither of those were my intention, I merely posted in a fashion that I do. I, for my part, shall grow from this, I have been made aware there may be conflicts, and as it is not my intention for such an act, I will try to be more mindful of it.
- If you get to this point thanks for reading, I ramble I know, but this is my view and I felt it important to speak my mind as it helps with growth. Thank you again. Cause A Little Mayhem 10:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

- Right, except everyone contributing to this conversation believes that you have been rude, and no one but you seems to see it your way. You may not have intended to be rude, but that is how you have been received. You've apologized, which is good, but it was a back-handed apology at best. Shoving the responsibility for offense on Regina is also rude. The problem is not her interpretation--that's called victim-blaming, by the way--but the manner in which you addressed her. As Salome suggested, and not rudely as I perceive, if you are so unschooled in the proper etiquette for interacting with others, and in how to respond appropriately to misinterpretation in said interactions, then you shouldn't be posting at all. 128.32.28.139 16:58, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

C.A.L.M. (<-clever) Your post did come across as rude and somewhat demanding, not because you asked what her qualifications were, but because in the manner you did it. You started off by stating the positions between the 2 had nothing in common. Also your "If this can be asked of you" was a statement, not a question. A question is more conductive of choice, a statement is less so. Don't you agree. (see similar approach, not very conductive of choice) It is not our job to determine if a CM is qualified, the CM does not work for us, nor do we sign the paycheck. We are the community, the CM works with us, but works for Anet, and if they deemed that she is qualified, well, that's enough for me. Hello there Regina!
First off i would like to give you a very warm welcome from the community as a whole, I dont know if you are aware of last years ball, but it was a roaring success!. It has been claimed that it was the largest player run event to date, not because of the gifts, but due to the community's effort in creating something like this. So lets get down to inviting you!. Regina Buenaobra, it is the wish of myself and the people attending this fantastic ball, that you would make one of your first visits to the public of Tyria, as a player, and just enjoy the party atmoshpere. We ask for nothing special of you (except a few fireworks maybe ;)), we hope you can come!

How do you create a User page?
Hi there, let me first start off by saying welcome to GW. So back to the point, I have no idea how to create a wiki user page. Not sure if im asking in the right place, but i couldnt find anywhere that tells me how to, and i have no other place to turn. --Pendulous Assassin 17:13, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- It should be in Help:Ask a wiki question. Someone will probably move this there later... You should simply edit your page (User:Pendulous Assassin) just like any other wiki page. You may look at other user pages for inspiration, but it would be polite to give credit to the people that you copied the code from. — Poki#3 18:27, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- The real problem is, that i don't know the codes to actually make the page, ya know? lol. --Pendulous Assassin 02:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
My 2 cents worth
I understand that at this point in time there are many things flying in/on and around, I also understand peoples love and affection for Gaile and her changing of positions has come as a shock to many people. It is my considered opinion however that Regina is going to do a great job and feel that we as a community need to give her time to settle in before bombarding her with questions. As far as information about this game or information with regards to GW2 or what have you that it is very much so a situation of managing time, the desire to live up to expectations and keeping things on a even keel as much as possible.
I do however find it disturbing that some have lashed out at someone who is simply put trying to do a job to make all of our guild wars experiences better, and to involve more of the community. So with that please of course always be respectful of each other as well as those who work for Arena net.
Anyways, that is my take on things

- Hello Regina! I found this posted under the HOM section on the GW2 wiki, is this true? Hall of Monuments is designed to reward players currently playing the original Guild Wars games. Players new to Guild Wars 2 will not be able to later purchase Guild Wars 1 to obtain the Hall of Monuments benefits. Jeff Strain stated in an interview with Ten Ton Hammer that "I can't imagine that we'll let somebody coming into Guild Wars six months after Guild Wars 2 ships and letting them have rights to all of the same opportunities our original players had." It is unclear whether there is a time restriction for existing Guild Wars account holders to fill the Hall of Monuments for transfer to Guild Wars 2. I for one don't understand if the HOM is going to be account based (as in what I do on my account in total will help all my future characters in GW2, or just the one named after my old character in GW2 and it's corresponding HOM. Could you please inform us of this if you can get any info on it? If it is not yet decided, I really hope it is account based and NOT character based. I have one really good HOM and the rest kind of suck lol I don't have the money or waste of my life to be able to make every HOM of mine amazing before the release of GW2! Also, if it is time sensitve that is quite unfair to those who still enjoy GW1 and want to add to those HOMs overtime. Foxysheri 04:59, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Idle chitchat for the devs
Hey, Regina, I was just thinking over the different kinds of weapon mods, and I realized that after three whole campaigns AND and expansion pack there still isn't a 'save for a rainy day' type of weapon inscription/base mod/whatever you call it that would give you -15 energy, and +1 energy regeneration. All other sacrifical weapon mods have an equal and opposite counterpart, so why doesn't the -1 regen +15 energy mod have one, too? Just wondering if you could inquire of the aNet staff about this, tyvm Silavor 02:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there,,
From an old hand in GW I'd like to say hello Regina! Its gone mightely quiet this week hasn't it? Are the Anet offices decked with balloons and poppers I wonder :D Any news on the new weekend event coming up or are the lips sealed for the time being?
Spangles
Silence due to workload? Or Big Bang Party start?
No anouncement for this weekend? Guild Wars' third year birthday celebration!! Big Bang??? We would love to meet all of you and that would be a really big prezzie for the third year? Jumping from left to right in anticipation here** (yes, there is an urgent question in here somewhere) --Silverleaf 16:15, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's [right here]. I'm afraid I have plans for this weekend that do not include playing Guild Wars. :-) Regina Buenaobra 18:16, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Too bad you won't be there :(. Enjoy your weekend but this is a great GW BDay surprise for sure. Awesome weapon skins. Happy GW Bday all! --Silverleaf 19:47, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

May i ask what exactly a metroid is? —ZerphaThe Improver 18:53, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- According to Wikipedia, it's the Nintendo game with Samus, this would be somehow ironic for ArenaNet's Community Manager :P —ZerphaThe Improver 18:58, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- And would rise questions about if the sig image was "edited" or "created"... copyvio-wise :).--Fighterdoken 19:04, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- According to her Journal and AT's talk, it was created by AT. —ZerphaThe Improver 19:14, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- This is where AT said that they created it. --Regina Buenaobra 00:57, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- For those of you who haven't played Metroid, you need to get your hands on super metroid somehow. It is on virtual console for the Wii, originally a super nintendo game. -Warskull 16:21, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Dear Regina, I was wondering how one would become a game moderator?
- Do you mean a community manager? If you are serious, you can apply. --Regina Buenaobra 19:23, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Metroid is a complete saga of games, that started a very long time ago with the old NES. But the saga went on in SNES, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Game Cube and WII. It's one of the greatest videogame sagas. MithTalk 20:46, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

- I played Pokemon Red/Blue for the original GameBoy, but I haven't played any of the Pokemon games since then. I kind of want to play Pokemon Diamond/Pearl for the DS, but I think that may just suck my time away. I was really, realy into Pokemon Red/Blue. :-D --Regina Buenaobra 23:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I tried getting into pokemon. I loved them untill they added A HUNDRED AND FIFTY MORE to the list. No exaggeration, I just dropped interest like, that DAY.- Vanguard 23:34, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm still addicted to pokemon, however i kinda cheat. I get all of the pokemon i can get normally but then i just hack the ones which aren't on the cartridge. Woe is with me with my nay mates, but yeh pokemon diamond/pearl is great, the only major flaw is that it hasnt moved on at all since the days of red and blue, its just pretiier now, but still identical games. -- Salome 23:38, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

I personally think the Gold/Silver edition was the best one, because it didn't end with the Pokémon league, and had so much more to explore, in a way. All the games after that, though? Same old, same old. Time for either a prettified Gold/Silver remake, or a whole new game. Having said that, I'll take my fangirling elsewhere. :) -- Elv 19:24, 28 April 2008 (UTC) indent reset. imo the classic 151 was good, but bumping it up to 251 wasn't a bad choice imo. However, more than that sucks. 80.193.1.106 21:55, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I liked that you could get all 16 badges. They never really had much content for like 80-100 level, and that kind of fixed it a bit. Anyway, did you know I was a Pokemon master? Red and blue, caught all 150. Vael Victus 13:47, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Same, I'm totally a member of the original 150 Pokémon nerd squa- I mean, I was a Pokémon master in Red/Blue. With all those extra beasties added, though, I never felt motivated to try again in later games. xD -- Elv 17:46, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcomes
First of all: as an officer of Ultimate New Order [UNO] (and as a proud member of GameAmp Guides [AMP]) I have a right to welcome you to our "little" community of Guild Wars.
Seconds: We all in UNO hope you'll enjoy your stay on Anet, and we wish you'll do visits on community in-game, and as well on fansite boards you'll find zounds on the internet. We're glad to have you here.
My personal IGN's (not made my personal talk page yet): Tjanz Wychwood @ AMP, Tjanz Le Blanc @ UNO
Best of luck and huge regards
--Tjanz 09:07, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers, Tjanz. --Regina Buenaobra 19:11, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Ninjas or Pirates?
I was reading something I found lately and came to thing about the most important and transcendental question you can ask to a member of the Guild Wars staff. What do you like most? Clean, intelligent, cunning, skilled, spiritual and all that good stuff ninjas or stinky, illiterate, gap-toothed, bad-mannered and all that bad stuff pirates? MithTalk 23:36, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- go pirates! --Cursed Angel 23:39, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ninjas ftw =D-Warior Kronos 00:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ninjas.- Vanguard 01:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Considering how I train as one, Ninjas ftw. and I've got 71 shuriken that can back me up. :P -- Wandering Traveler 02:48, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ninjas.- Vanguard 01:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

I must remember an example of how pirates look like nowadays, compared to how ninjas look these days. Pirates are not what they were. They are what they are. Raw reality! Ninjas also still exist, but they improved, so you won't see them anymore, unless they want you to. MithTalk 11:37, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm assuming present-day ninjas are basically assassins. They dress normally for the most part.- Vanguard 18:17, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- I thought to be a ninja you needed to train in Ninjitsu and follow the way of the ninja, not just run about stabbing people with pointy things or shooting them. -- Salome 19:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Using that image as an example of "modern-day pirates" is pretty racist, especially considering your description of pirates up above. 71.133.203.145 19:39, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Errr.... since when was Ninja considered a race? OMG that would look so cool on your passport! Nationality: Ninja. That would rock. On a tenuously related note, Over here in the UK we get a national census which you have to complete by law, and about 10 million people answered, under religion, as Jedi. So that would be even cooler. Nationality: Ninja. Religion: Jedi! Sorry, i'm clearly very easily impressed and/or amused today. -- Salome 19:52, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- What? I said that the image used to represent modern-day pirates was racist. I didn't say anything about ninjas. But while we're on the subject, ninjas are a distinct product of medieval-era warfare in Japan, and while debating just what constitutes "race" and whether that is a useful category would make for legitimate discussion, Japanese people are generally seen to constitute a homogeneous "race" by themselves and by the West, so yes, ninjas do belong to and represent one particular "race." The glorification of ninjas that's become to prevalent in Western fan culture reeks of exotification and fetishization of the so-called "Far East" to me. 71.133.203.145 20:38, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- For the record, modern-day pirates DO look like that picture. Instead of rapiers they have AK47's.- Vanguard 20:42, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- The image is not racist; what could be classified as racist is how people see this as an issue of race, not the fact they could very well be pirates -- they are in a boat, with guns, armour, grenades and more guns. -- Brains12 \ Talk 20:44, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Uh, excuse me but I am a Pyrate and very proud of it. I have been a pirate plying my trade all over the state of Florida. Got paid for most of it. www.piratesinparadise.com is one site to see some pyrates. You want good Pyrate music try www.PyratesRoyal.com or the first site has some links on it. Even my youngest son when he was still in middle and high school went and performed on land and on boats, including firing pistols, rifles and cannons ALL blackpowder. The classes we went thru to handle all that is now what most of the NRA uses to teach their own classes. So for me PYRATES ALL THE WAY!!! Christine98.209.30.104 21:22, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

- I cannot be racist, since all puny humans are equally inferior to my eyes, I can varelly tell apart males from females, you look all the same. I just googled for pirate images and took the first realistic one: Nothing romantinc, armed to the teeth, ready to do anything for the loot. And that image IS an image of modern day pirates. Took form an article about modern day pirates. And my initial descriptions where meant to be completely subjective since I favor ninjas, I have that kind of sense off humor, they are not related to the later picture. The ninja picture was a joke, but the pirate one was real. I saw some modern day ninja pictures, but... well... most of them were 'sport-like' associations that teach the ninja disciplines (ninjutsu) and some martial arts. If ninjas still exist (something quite probable) they hide REALLY well (something completely possible). They just need to beware of Google Earth satellites. MithTalk 22:14, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
