Lyra Azzurri (born 1057 AE) is a meek but selfless Canthan monk with mixed Ascalonian and Canthan parentage. She was one of the new students enrolled at Shing Jea Monastery in the year 1072 AE.

In spite of her underconfidence, Lyra became a promising student at the monastery, and was invited by Master Togo to visit Minister Cho not long after she enrolled. There they discovered the early stages of the affliction, and Lyra willingly helped to investigate it, though she never strayed far from Togo's protection. Though she initially had a crush on Yijo Tahn, during the investigation of the plague Lyra steadily developed feelings for Su Teirami, which eventually blossomed into a relationship after Shiro Tagachi's defeat. After the fight against Shiro, Lyra and Su journeyed together to Ascalon to visit Lyra's father, who had returned there three years previously. However, he had been gravely wounded during the Searing, and died while they were there.

Lyra joined the Order of the Sunspears in 1075 AE to take part in the fight against Nightfall, and also participated in the fight against the Destroyers in 1078 AE. Su perished while battling the Great Destroyer, sending Lyra spiralling into depression. She attempted to kill herself shortly afterwards by throwing herself into the bottomless pit, but was talked down on the precipice by Alexis Toran. Lyra and Alexis grew close over the following months, and both travelled south to Kryta with the Ebon Falcons to aid Princess Salma in 1079 AE. They then helped to track down the missing Keiran Thackeray and attended his wedding with Gwen, where they too announced plans to marry.
