Shadowsin - NPA issue
Shadowsin (talk • contribs • logs • block log)
we got off topic. badly. lets go back to the possible NPA breach at my My Talk Page. If I'm too impulsive at bringing this up again, just tell me to shut up (admins, not users). -- Wandering Traveler 13:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's not a possible breach, It IS a breach of the NPA. -- Salome 17:15, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Warned by Brains12. As far as I'm concerned (other sysops are free to disagree, of course), the issue is resolved. On a sidenote (and this isn't directed solely or even mainly at you, Wandering Traveler), I'm sorely tempted to ban the next non-admin who posts to the noticeboard with anything other than a report for the sysops. I'm starting to think it's the only way rein in the debates and arguments and general backseat sysopping, and keep this page useful. - Tanetris 19:31, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Lemming65 (talk • contribs • logs • block log)
Trying to impersonate Lemming64 --Shadowphoenix 22:45, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Impersonating an admin isn't a blockable offence. And it wasn't really impersonating me anyway. So just ignore and it will go away. --Lemming 22:51, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Actively impersonating an admin is something that I would consider blockable and encourage sysops to deal with in a timely manner. However, the specific case in question does not seem to be actively attempting to cause problems, thus I don't think this requires intervention (at this time). Proxy. — ク Eloc 貢 03:24, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Wow ShadowPhoenix... you are obsessed with me aren't you? This is getting creepy, and I think my fiance is getting jealous.
Anyway... the above 208. proxy is one I used for a few minutes to make a couple needed posts, but the older posts by that same IP are clearly not mine. That aside, if you list every IP I use here, this page will end up needing to be archived very very soon. It's just not worth it, I won't run out... and so long as Aiiane is refusing to address the issues and explain why she can break the NPA rules in the exact same ways that I did, and be allowed to do it when I am not... I'll have to keep adding to the discussions. I'm sorry to put you through all the hassle, but I have to do what I have to do in order to try and resolve some small bit of the rampant injustice on this wiki. ~ J.Kougar
Arbcom case
An arbitration case involving Kougar has been filed. I would ask a sysop to unban Kougar to enable him to post on that talk page (and reban him if he edits anywhere else during the remaining period of his ban). --Xeeron 12:09, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Horrible offensive joke about genocide in this edit, but Guild Wars Wiki:No personal attacks only covers racist comments directed at a specific person, what should we do? -- Gordon Ecker 06:23, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- While the editor comes on rather strong, I don't see a problem with the edit. He's not suggesting or promoting genocide, just using it as hyperbole. If you'd like, ask him to tone it down, but I don't consider it an admin matter (other sysops are free to disagree, as always). - Tanetris 07:11, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's probably a joke, but it's still offensive he or she said "If my country decided to kill all the <adjective> people because they didn't like them I'd understand", I don't think we should go easy on him or her becaus <adjective> happens to be "white". Also, I checked APNIC to determine whether it was a fixed or variable IP. I'm not sure, the ISP has both broadband and dialup, however, according to APNIC, the IP is from an Australian ISP, so apparently we have someone who is not in Taiwan implying that they are an angry Taiwanese player and trying to offend everyone, that sounds like a troll setting up a strawman. -- Gordon Ecker 10:23, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Anyway, I'm calling it a night. -- Gordon Ecker 12:03, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think you may be misinterpreting what the IP is saying. I read it as "If my country decided to (etc etc) I'd understand ArenaNet cutting ties with their servers because of that", not that he/she would understand genocide. - Tanetris 16:45, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

- I agree with Tanetris. While inappropriate, I don't see it as a sysop matter. A notice to the user to tone down the comments would be fine. It is not our job to determine if this user is a legitimate Taiwanese player or not, it has nothing to do with the comment at hand either, in my opinion. - anja 12:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- You're right, "then I'd understand" seems like racist hyperbole at first glance, but it could also be read as "then I'd understand ArenaNet cutting off the servers". Because the statement is ambiguous and the poster may not be a native English speaker, I think we should give him or her the benefit of the doubt. -- Gordon Ecker 00:20, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Has been asked kindly by several users and admins to use the minor edit and show preview buttons when making small changes to his/her guildpage; but continues not to. Also has been asked by many users and admins to upload images under the right names, but continues not to. Also, has been recreating a page call "Lost" even after admins and users alike have asked him/her to place it in the guild namespace. I am afraid that this user is doing this just to troll. --Shadowphoenix 04:52, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's not trolling. He's trying to make his guild page as perfecto as possible, but probably doesn't realise the way he's going about it is not the best. He probably doesn't read his talk page, and if he does, he's not reading it. I for one would be put off from reading it when it's full of notices and ..warnings?.. on the page if I was a new user. That picture of the Show Preview is not appropriate, and if anything, will detract him from looking at it at all.
- I don't think a block is necessary on grounds of "trolling". If another admin feels it's appropriate to block for ignoring notices, go ahead. -- Brains12 \ Talk 14:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Ban the French from PvP
User_talk:Gaile_Gray/Guild_Wars_suggestions#Ban_the_French_from_PvP
Since someone added a deletion tag to it, i wanted to move the issue here since it just appears to be creating drama and NPA breaches. The tag was for promoting racism i think, but not sure if the topic in question requires admin attention or if it should just be left to Gaile's discretion as always.--Fighterdoken 23:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Please know that I'm not starting or adding on to a discussion here. I would like to request a ban for all the users violating the NPA on that discussion. In my humble opinion the violations on that page have gotten out of hand and need dealing with. LunarEffect 12:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
It was me who suggested that a section from that page should be deleted - the section which suggested that French players be banned from PVP. The user Owut there has now suggested that I be 'banned from life' and I don't appreciate death threats. The follow on thread on 'separating' French players, (No more international alliance battles) as a form of GW apartheid, should also be removed, as it too is getting a lot of bad language and personal insults posted by Owut, his aliases, and supporters. I believe these posters are only trying to divide GW players on racist grounds, and are not making useful contributions to the game or wiki. I think admin action is required.--Vana Runedottir 00:34, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

- The original dispute was regarding removal of text from the skill pages, and based on the end of the first section on the anons talk page and his addition to the Epidemic talk page that was what I was referring to. However the actual skill page should really of been reverted to it's original state before the anon first removed the text while discussion happened on the talk page. Also I started writing that just after the comments were added but kept getting a lot of edit conflicts each time I went to save. I have reworded my comment below.

Recently, a number of source pages for merges have been tagged for deletion. Im am currently removing the tags as quickly as possible. Please due not delete these pages, and undelete any you find which were deleted until copyright and attribution issues can be sorted out. -- Gordon Ecker 08:41, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- It'd be better if you attributed in the merged article. A near blank edit, with attribs of the original matterial in the edit summary would solve your issue, without necessitating keeping a lot of obsolete pages. Backsword 08:44, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

The text in fact is referencing a thread discussion on the [KISS]alliance forums where no such actions were performed by myself.i did not threaten this user in anyway and am struggling to see why this has been brought onto wiki and posted on a highly respected alliance members userpage. It doesnt belong and quite simply isnt true BlackBlood talk 19:10, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Admin Rights
Quite simply put, they should not have the ability to sensor content on User Talk pages, without valid reasoning and user consent. Is that really so much to ask, or has this Wiki evolved into some twisted dictatorship? My issue was of significant importance; I was neither trolling nor berating Izzy in anyway whatsoever. If Izzy feels that my topic should be moved to a different section, then let HIM be the one to decide and move it there himself. I don't want excuses, or vague responses; I merely want results. Starting a new section for this, as it is not a staightforward case. This user keeps posting the same incoherrent suggestion over and over. Obviously have a very poor grasp of English. AGF, they may well think what they are doing is what they are supposed to. But in the end, the result is the same. Vandalism still makes thwe wiki harder to use for others, and wastes our time in cleaning up. Since repeated warnings will not work, I believe it's time to consider a shorter ban. - IMO, Nuclear is right. The great majority of pages he has tagged for deletion do deserve to be deleted; and the pages he marked for clean up either need better wording in order to convey what they're trying to say, or have some bad ideas that could be deleted while keeping the others on the same article. Probelm with the feedback pages
It seems to me that there a large number of delete tags being removed without any discussion. I was under the impression that this was against some part of the policy, so I kept adding them in and giving warning on pages themselves. However, it seems that a number of IP's (maybe the same person) have been reverting me. I cannot add the tags back in without violating 1RR, so I was hoping for a bit more moderation down there.
Two pages with this issue: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/ArenaNet:Skill_feedback/Miscellaneous/Resurrection_Signet and http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/ArenaNet:Skill_feedback/Miscellaneous/General_balancing_guidelines
In the meantime, I'm going to try and stay out of it - and keep a cool head. -- NUKLEAR IIV 15:22, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Malicious Bots creating Page
I've noticed that the Guild:Dark Betrayers page keeps being recreated and edited with random comments by a number of random anonymous users. Its been deleted six or so times as well. It strikes me that it possibly could be random bots attacking the wiki. Shouldn't the page be protected so it can't be recreated somehow?- TheRave (talk) 23:42, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Request undeletion for the Everlasting Sacred Path Guild page
It has come to my attention that the guild wiki page http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Guild:Everlasting_Sacred_Path has been deleted. While I am not sure how this page was ever removed, the guild is still very much active. Rather than start the page over again from scratch, it may be easier if you could reinstate the previous page, which we could then update with whatever pertinent information is necessary to make the page current again.
I thank you in your response to this request. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Espkaruna (talk).

Request for protection (GW2 page)
Looking at the history there has been a lot of revisions needed by anons adding info. We should semi protect the page to prevent more vandalism and to reduce the amount of unneeded edits. Dominator Matrix 03:27, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- This has been brought up several times, and determined it's not worth it as the edits are easily and quickly reverted. -- Wyn 03:30, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've protected it from unregistered edits for a month, as it's one of the most vandalized pages on the wiki. When was protection determined not to be worth it? In this discussion, protection seems to have been rejected due to it being misinterpreted as a request to protect the talk page, and in this discussion there was concensus for protection, but no one bothered to take it to the admin noticeboard. -- Gordon Ecker 04:32, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Continious NPA violations?
Shard (talk • contribs • logs • block log)
This user is constantly attacking Izzy, either directly or by indirectly naming the failure of a game balancer. Even when he's not using a name, it is clear that these posts are meant as an attack on Izzy. 145.94.74.23 16:26, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Both of them are borderline NPA. For now, I'd let it be, but if he posts more, similar inflammatory or otherwise NPA-violating content, we can look into it more (unless someone else feels strongly pro-action against Shard). calor (talk) 02:35, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

- Discussion on the Admin Noticeboard isn't ban-worthy (we simply move said discussion to the talk page). Your consistent abuse of the Admin Noticeboard, on the other hand, (i.e. accusing other users of trolling when you yourself are the primary source of trolling, etc.) is, in my opinion, given your obviously wanton disregard. *Defiant Elements* +talk 22:45, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
