This is a list of elite skills available in Guild Wars Nightfall organized by their capture location as you follow the campaign's story. This article primarily focuses on skills you can capture without real time investment; other skills available if you stray further from the main path or complete long quest chains are also listed but in less detail.
Declaration of War[edit]
Ordinarily, Istani characters won't have access to Signet of Capture until they reach Yohlon Haven after completion of Consulate Docks and won't be able to capture any of these skills. You can circumvent this by traveling to other continents starting at level 10 or when you reach Consulate Docks (outpost). Keep in mind that regardless of this, Istani characters can't swap secondary professions until they reach Sunspear Sanctuary.
New Areas[edit]
Almost no elite skills are available on Istan. Don't bother with these.
A Land of Heroes[edit]
Foreign characters defend Istan from the Kournan and Corsair threat outside Champion's Dawn. The following skills can be captured during the instance:
Consulate Docks[edit]
In Enemy Territory[edit]
Istani characters can purchase Signet of Capture as soon as you arrive in Kourna. Two free signets are available through Capturing the Signet of Capture after completion of The Great Escape.
No elite skills can be captured during Venta Cemetery.
New Areas[edit]
Completing Consulate Docks grants access to all regions of Kourna except for Bahdok Caverns as well as access to the Dajkah Inlet challenge mission and to a small area of The Sulfurous Wastes. In addition to skills easily accessible during your campaign playthrough, you can also capture the following skills with some additional effort:

Capturing Sandstorm from The Drought can be difficult. Consider capturing it here anyways; the only other capture location is after Ruins of Morah.
Moddok Crevice[edit]
No elite skills are available during this mission without failing the bonus objective.
North, in Vabbi[edit]
No elite skills are available during Tihark Orchard, Grand Court of Sebelkeh, and Jennur's Horde.
New Areas[edit]
Completing Moddok Crevice grants access to Bahdok Caverns, to all regions of Vabbi except for The Hidden City of Ahdashim, and to part of Joko's Domain. Reaching the Chantry of Secrets also grants access to the Underworld and the Fissure of Woe. In addition to skills easily accessible during your campaign playthrough, you can also capture the following skills with some additional effort.
Keep in mind that completing Grand Court of Sebelkeh changes Garden of Seborhin into Nightfallen Garden until the end of the campaign, denying you access to some elite skills.

Keep in mind that you can't capture the elite skill of the last djinn you defeat.

- Zealous Vow also in The Hidden City of Ahdashim and Bahdok Caverns
Hold the Line[edit]
You can only do either Margrid's path or the Master of Whisper's path. Of course you can come back for the mission after completing the campaign.
Calling the Order[edit]
Dzagonur Bastion[edit]
Capturing the elite skill of the last margonite boss you fight, likely the elementalist, might be difficult. Other than Magehunter's Smash, you can also capture these skills during Nundu Bay.
Pledge of the Merchant Princes[edit]
Heart over Mind[edit]
You can complete both Koss's path and Melonni's path and in whichever order you choose. Only one needs to be completed to continue the campaign.
No elite skills can be captured during Jennur's Horde.

You can complete both Koss's path and Melonni's path and in whichever order you choose. Only one needs to be completed to continue the campaign.

New Areas[edit]
Completing Gate of Desolation and A Deal's a Deal grants access to all regions of the Desolation except for the central area of The Ruptured Heart. It also allows travel to the Crystal Desert via Crystal Overlook, but only if your character already has normal access to the Crystal Desert through their Prophecies story progression. In addition to skills easily accessible during your campaign playthrough, you can also capture the following skills with some additional effort:
