Tank
Tanking is a strategy in PvE in which a player deliberately draws an enemy or enemies’ attention (or “aggro”), and attempts to make him or herself the sole focus of their attacks. This protects the rest of the party, who may be weaker and unable to withstand the enemies' attacks. The party member who performs this role is referred to as a tank.
The ultimate goal of this strategy may vary according to the situation at hand, but it usually involves holding a large, powerful enemy or group of enemies in a confined spot while the rest of the party attacks and defeats it.
