Endgame uniques that lack gold "rare" or droppable versions[edit]
It seems that warriors have it easy , as far as finding weapons. Note that offhands and shields are always a better investment since they do not need to be customized to have full effect, meaning that you can swap them between characters. If it is truly rare and want to save it for yourself *forever* you may customize it to dissuade yourself from selling it.
Given that the Zaishen Chest has made gold inscribable version of every weapon available, I think these will hold their value the steadiest unless the skin is also reused.
- Deldrimor Talisman: nothing. Everything can be crafted as an inscribable gold (not even blue...) for 10 , 10 , 10 so it is a big waste of time to do Tyrian missions on an alt that is not going for completion of the campaign or titles. I feel the Prophecies' endgame reward is a joke since you can get the gold inscribable one for ~15k in materials and gold, which has more flexible stats.
- Amulet of the Mists (skin only): Shiro's Sword, Shiro's Blades, Heal/Prot/Restoration/Inspiration Wayward wands cannot be found,
- Note: Draconic Scythe is HARD to find and/or expensive.
- Book of Secrets (skin only): Forgotten Recurve Bow, Forgotten Shield (4 of them), Ungues of the Forgotten, Forgotten Sword, Forgotten Axe, Forgotten Hammer
- Droknar's Key: All weapons are patina versions of existing weapons
- Staves/scepters are patina versions of Brohn's Staff / Kepkhet's Refuge and Dunshek's Purifier, Shaunur's Scepter, Topo's Promise, and Riseh's Wand respectively.
- Warrior weapons are patina versions of Long Sword, Stone Summit Shield,Dwarven Hammer, Dwarven Axe (remember when these were 100k + ectos? Ha!)
- Daggers are patina versions of Ungues of the Oni
- Scythes are patina versions of Suntouched Scythe (collector available!, but it doesn't dye the blade.)
- Spears are patina versions of Suntouched Spear (collector available, but it dyes the handle mainly, not as much of the blade)
- Paragon attribute shields are patina versions of Stone Summit Shield

Z-keys[edit]
Weapons that come out of the Zaishen Chest will always be golds. A good reference for things that cannot be found as inscribables can be found at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:Grown_Up_Gwen. They include :
- Diamond Aegis (req Strength), Iridescent Aegis (req Strength), Oni Blade, Colossal Pick (piercing damage hammer)
- Dragon Staff (too bad it doesn't dye either), Forbidden Staff
- Inscribable Platinum Staff and Wand only come in primary attributes: Divine Favor, Energy Storage, Soul Reaping, Spawning Power, Inspiration Magic (only Staff), Domination
- Echovald Shield
- Bladed Shield
- Amber Aegis
- Bo Staff
- Celestial Staff only comes from Nahpui Quarter and other Kaineng City locations
- Zodiac Staff/Scepter, Wayward Wand, Straw Effigy are like Platinum Staff/Wand as they have inscribables for: Divine Favor, Energy Storage, Soul Reaping, Spawning Power, Inspiration Magic
- All Outcast, Plagueborn weapons
Uniques with 20/20[edit]
Warriors, Rangers, Assassins, Dervishes, and even Paragons have it easy. 15>50, 15% stanced, 15% enchanted, and +5 energy is usually sold for relatively cheap. "Forget me Not" on the other hand can fetch up to about 25-40 platinum (as of now), while "Aptitude not Attitude" runs around 3-5 platinum!
20/20 wands coupled with 20/20 focii are the only reason to use a wand and focus combination. Two halves recharge modifiers cannot be achieved with a staff, or even a spear and focus combination. Luckily focii are readily available from collectors with 20/20 and all the unique items tend to have 20% HSR.
Notably, as an elementalist the 20/20 wand and 20/20 focus are essential since the conditional +5 energy is 2 ranks in energy storage (every rank is +3 max energy). With a 12/12/3 split you already have 9 more energy than other casters and using a +15/-1 energy regen wand and focus combination as a swap will solve most problems with energy pool. The only thing is you can't do this type of swap on a hero, and energy storage is useful for spells that rely on it that may not even be energy storage skills (Glowing Gaze, Glowstone, Shock Arrow, Glowing Ice).
I swear by the 20% HSR on wands as well as the 20% HSR on focii when running a skillbar primarily of one attribute. For dual attributes such as hybrid monks, channeling-restoration ritualists, mesmers running domination and inspiration, and such you might want to have a 20% HSR staff (especially if you are running enchantments). The problem with this is, your staff can only have 2 cast time modifiers of the attribute of the staff. A wand could be one attribute and a focus could be another, allowing for 20% HCT of both attributes. In essence, the wand and focus combination is superior (in terms of halves casting time) when running primarily one or two attributes. Since the focus has the +30HP mod as a core as well as the HCT mod, it is possible to have 36% HSR and 20% HCT with +30HP, using a wand and focus.
A staff allows for +30HP twice though, which a wand and focus combination cannot. Uniques tend to have Swift or Hale staff heads, with Enchanting or Fortitude staff wrappings and 10% HCT inscriptions if it is a primary attribute (hence the demand for 20/10 staves that have 10% HCT all by traders even when there can be 20/20 staves with 20% HCT of the stave's attribute). Another reason to go with a staff is if one were to wish for 36% HCT, 20% HSR, and +30HP combination since +30HP can be achieved with a staff wrapping.
The exception here is mesmers, who have both recharge and cast time reduction from their primary attribute. I strongly favor +30HP x2 on a staff for mesmers, if only because I don't feel 36% HCT is as beneficial when the bulk of the skills are 1-1.5 seconds in cast time after a few ranks in fast casting.
Thus, a few uniques are of importance:
- Dunshek's Purifier , 20/20 heal wand with a white dyed unique skin
- , , ,
, Droknar's Scepter 20/20 wand with a patina version of a unique skin - Drikard's Rod (water) , Hajkor's Flame (fire) both 20/20 wands with "meh" skins
- Scepter of the Keeper (blood) which is also a unique skin , Avarr's Scepter (death)
Other ones are available as well, but they are not nearly as utilitarian:
- Flannuss' Rod (prot)
- Wingstorm/Kemil's Scepter (dom) , Garbok's Cane/Bogroot Rod (inspiration), Vokur's Cane (illusion)
Keep in mind you can craft a blue 20/20 wand for casters at Gertrud, Telamon.
Collectors[edit]
Nice skin and nice stats
Also Lightning spire staves, which are PvP exotic weapons, although not as expensive or rare in PvE. The Lotus Staff, Etched Sword, and Gemstone Staff are only available as a collector's weapon skin. Interestingly enough, inscribable Storm Artifacts cannot be dyed but collectors' and crafters' can! Earth Scrolls, Flame Artifacts, and Frost Artifacts have the same issue. So I save money by playing an elementalist ironically even though I have 3 sets of equipment (one per element, not using water). The same thing happens for the Inscribed Chakram (metal) for the Mesmer. I didn't pay attention to other professions, but that's just an example.
Holiday event collectors[edit]
Not going for alcohol title since it is a supreme waste of time. Party points you get for spamming stuff, so sweet points using candy canes during Hard mode is the only utilitarian title of the event collectors'.
There's no sweet points during Halloween. Transmogrifier Tonics , which give 2 party points while Squash Serum and Ghost-in-the-Box only gives 1:
Name | Location | Collects | Campaign |
---|---|---|---|
Horseman Bishma | Champion's Dawn | 3 Fledgling Skree Wings | Nightfall |
Horseman Garthim | Kamadan | 3 Sentient Roots | Nightfall |
Horseman Vadir | Kodlonu Hamlet | 1 Chunk of Drake Flesh | Nightfall |
Horseman Nuher | Sunspear Great Hall | 3 Sentient Roots | Nightfall |
Of these, Fledgling Skree Wing and Drake flesh are the drops not shared with Wintersday collectors. That said, tonics count for 2 party points. Sentient Roots can be turned in for Wintergreen Candy canes.
Wintergreen Candy Canes (1 sweet point) are available during Wintersday that remove 15% DP. Snowman Summoners (1 party point) and Yuletide Tonics (2 party points) as well as Fruitcakes (1 sweet point) are also available. Of course, everything can be gotten from the Secret Lair of the Snowmen.
- has Rainbow Candy Canes.
Trophies without collectors[edit]
- Umbral Eye --> 12-16 dust
- Gloom Seed --> 12-16 plant fibers
- Shadowy Crest --> 12-15 scales
- Dark Remains --> 12-16 dust
- Mursaat Token --> 6-8 dust
Weaponsmiths of note[edit]
- Hulen Hairyback (Central Transfer Chamber)- Shield of the Wing with Strength/Command req. ; also has Split Chakrams/Dwarven Axe/Long Sword with inscription slot
- Telamon (Leviathan Pits) - 20/20 (inherent) wands and focii for 5 plat + materials (though only the wand is of importance if you can get the focii from collectors, seeing how collectors are lacking in 20/20 wands)
- Gertrud (Vasburg Armory) same as Telemon , but for Kurzick
- Honglei Sun (Maatu Keep) - Energy +15, Energy regeneration -1 and HSR 20% wands as well as +30HP +15energy -1 energy regen focii for high sets (though I prefer 20% HSR on high sets but you aren't using them long enough for it to matter)
- Sheco (Bukdek Byway) - HCT 20% and Energy +5 while Health>50% wands (cannot be replicated by inscription system!)
- Shichiroji (Divine Path) : +5 energy Sai Daggers , +5 energy Katana (inherent)
Other:
- Ruricu (Crystal Overlook): +5 energy Suntouched Spear, Bronze Daggers
- Shausha (Command Post) : why you will never pay more than 5-10K for a common skinned inscribable R9
- Asa - Sifhalla ; Derrick - Tarnished Haven; Nojj - Rata Sum; Soros - Gadd's Encampment : another reason why Shield of the Lion, Long Swords, and Adamantine Shields are cheap
- Hahbe (Marga Coast) ; Kol Swordshanks (Command Post); Aksah (Basalt Grotto): Winged Axe 15>50, Shield of the Lion and Adamantine Shield with +30HP and -5dmg (20%)
- Caprice (Henge of Denravi) : req8 +10 energy focii with 20/20
Nightfall is notably lacking in 20/20 wands and +15energy, -1 energy regen wands for high sets. All +30HP inherent shields have -5 20% which (in my opinion) is useless for a warrior compared to -2 stanced or -20% cripple. Blind can be easily dealt if not stacked using antidote signet, remedy signet, or plague touch but usually cripple comes with poison or bleeding on top of it (see Crip shot rangers, barbed trap, you're all alone, Melandru's shot, Strike as one, Maiming spear).
Collectors with 20/20 (Forget me not) and +15 energy/-1 energy regen (Live for today)[edit]
Other Collectors[edit]
Weapon | Inscription | Focus Core | Collectable drop | Location | Collector |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Divine Symbol | Divine Favor +1 {20% chance while using skills) | Health +30 | 5 Truffles | Ferndale | Chef Armand |
Protective Icon | Protection Prayers +1 (20%) | Health +30 | 2 Keen Oni Claws | House zu Heltzer | Andru Pitrak |
Suntouched Spear | Energy +5 | 5 Cobalt Talons | Yatendi Canyons | Hamri |
Divine Symbol is useful for maintained enchantments like Unyielding Aura, Divine Boon, Blessed Aura. The Protective Icon is useful for Protective Bond, Life Bond, Life Attunement, Life Barrier,and other maintained enchantments. Unlike with other attributes, the randomness is not much of a factor since you can just recast the enchantments until they get the +1 activation.

Makeover stuff[edit]
At one point I planned on making a ranger (I have a PvP one) and had saved up 106 normal ranger tomes. The problem is the only hair that I could remotely use is #6 from Factions and the male armors are uninspiring to me. My monk is a Factions-born one with hair #2 but it doesn't help with the unflattering armor which usually makes him look like a barrel.
I kind of want to redo my necromancer and warrior's appearance but it would be wasteful since a pack comes with 5 makeover credits and I would only be using 2.
- Warrior from prophecies #4 to Factions #4 or 5 hair, from smallest body scale to medium and from prophecies face #4 to #7. Or if Extreme Makeover for the Warrior, probably prophecies face #2 and hair #7 or #8.
- My necro was made to look sinister with gray hair and piercing gray eyes (Hair #3, face #2 from prophecies) but prophecies #7 face or nightfall #6 face with Factions hair #3 in white and skin recolored to a light blue would make him look more arcane. Switching over to extreme makeover, Blood red (must be blood red!) nightfall hair #7 and nightfall face 2 or 7 (factions hair #9 and prophecies face #10 or 15 if you want to go for "adorable" instead of a subversive mage).
- My monk with Factions hair #2 could use a face change from Factions #2 to Prophecies #1 but it is fine. I've been complimented before so I think this is the best so far. On the contrary if I were to extreme makeover him, it would be tough to make a prophecies hairstyle without using the "buns" hairstyle #9, though with Factions you get #3, which is basically the same but with a stretch over her shoulder.
