Armors[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Warrior Monument armor The inventory icon for the male boots show parts of the bearer's skin. The inventory icon for the female chest piece show parts of the bearer's skin.
Assassin Elite Luxon armor The stockings on the leggings of the female armor have a gap at about knee-height, causing a ring of skin to appear when worn without knee-high boots.
Ranger Istani armor This is the only Istani armor that is a Fancy PvP reward.
Ranger Sunspear armor This is the only Sunspear armor that is a Fancy PvP reward.
Ranger Elite Drakescale armor This is the only prestige Prophecies armor set available as a Basic PvP reward.
Elementalist headgear Unlike headgear for other professions, these require more material to craft in Prophecies or Eye of the North than in Nightfall.
Stone Gauntlets The gloves appear to make you have only four fingers.

Items[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Kilnn Testibrie's Crest Unlike other quest items, each of Kilnn Testibrie's armor pieces can be salvaged or sold. (The bonus, however, cannot be completed unless you turn over all four.)
Kilnn Testibrie's Pauldron Unlike other quest items, each of Kilnn Testibrie's armor pieces can be salvaged or sold. (The bonus, however, cannot be completed unless you turn over all four.)
Kilnn Testibrie's Cuisse Unlike other quest items, each of Kilnn Testibrie's armor pieces can be salvaged or sold. (The bonus, however, cannot be completed unless you turn over all four.)
Kilnn Testibrie's Greaves Unlike other quest items, each of Kilnn Testibrie's armor pieces can be salvaged or sold. (The bonus, however, cannot be completed unless you turn over all four.)
Ruins of Surmia (quest) Even though this quest is part of the main quest chain, it's shown under the Ascalon Quests tab, not under Primary Quests tab.
Charr Hide Unlike most stackable salvage items, Charr Hides have a collector.
White Mantle Wrath: Demagogue's Vanguard This quest may be taken prematurely if the player follows the quests Mysterious Message and The Price of Steel to Quarrel Falls. In doing so, the player could miss the storyline of The Wilds and Bloodstone Fen, which precedes White Mantle Wrath: Demagogue's Vanguard, as indicated by the quest's dialogue.
Tapestry Shred Gwen will not give you the shred while you have extra flowers in your inventory. If the last item you gave was an iris (and you think you have earned her favor), drop the remaining flowers and talk to her again.
Elonian Mirror Despite being a quest item, they are not stackable.
Mark of Aidan These Marks appear without having the quest.
Red Iris Flower Before being picked up, the flowers do not have the usual shimmer effect shown by most "treasure"/dropped items. However, if you drop one, they show that effect.
Cryptic Scroll Piece Even though this item is stackable, and the quest log panel states "You have (N) of 6 pieces in your possesion.", the pieces do not appear in your inventory.
Quest item Kilnn Testibrie's armor pieces have a value of 5 Gold and can be sold to merchants.
Oppressor's Hammer The Hall of Monuments Rewards Calculator refers to this item as Oppressor Maul.
Seasonal item Charmable animals and practice targets, who usually do not drop items, can drop seasonal items during special events.
Summoning stone When dropped on the ground, non-crafted summoning stones do not emit the typical sparkle effect.
Inscription An extremely small number of weapons in circulation carry an inherent inscription and an inscription slot. Currently, all known exploits or game errors that produced them have been resolved. Identifying the inscribable item with no merchant value which has been upgraded with the Show me the money! inscription may reveal the non-zero value; however, such item cannot be sold to a merchant.
Silver Zaishen Coin If you use a Salvage Kit, you will salvage one Pile of Glittering Dust from one Silver Zaishen Coin without the game freezing, despite a warning that you will destroy the whole stack.
Everlasting Vekk Tonic While most other tonics use the default armor of their respective heroes, transformed players are displayed in Vekk's brotherhood armor.
Zehtuka's Great Horn This is marked as a quest item, but is never mentioned as part of any quest. Mechanically, it is more like a collector's trophy.
Frontier Gate Fugitives The Jeweled Chakram has what would normally be the skin and attribute of a Jeweled Chalice. Conversely, the quest A Mission of Peace rewards a Jeweled Chalice with the skin and attribute of a Jeweled Chakram.
Stonefist Insignia This insignia increases the length of the self-inflicted knockdown caused by Grapple. (It will not increase knockdowns caused by either Drunken Blow or Desperation Blow.) Although this behavior is intended, the description states that only foe-knockdowns are affected.
Forgotten Axe (PvP reward) This is the only Forgotten weapon that is a Fancy PvP reward; the rest are Exotic.
Envoy Staff Unlike most staves, it has an inherent 10% chance to HCT instead of a 20% chance to HSR.
Special Present When more than one player in the same party has this quest active, only the character who talks to a gift recipient will actual lose a Special Present. However, the quest will correctly update for all players.
Imperial Guard Lockbox Lockboxes are not tradeable, although they lack the usual warning in the description.
Party Beacon Party Beacons can be used in explorable areas, although the description states they are for in-town use.
Dungeon Key The message Dungeon Key retrieved and the image of the key cannot be switched off even if you have cleared all the interface options on the Options pane (F11).
Minis-treat of Purity This item produces Sugar Jolt (short) despite claiming to give the Sugar Rush effect.
Chocolate Bunny This item produces Sugar Jolt (long) despite claiming to give the Sugar Rush effect.
Delicious Cake This item produces Sugar Jolt (short) despite claiming to give the Sugar Rush effect.
Tanned Hide Square Despite the name, Tanned Hide Squares are not squares in the icon; they are triangles. This fact was parodied in the April 1, 2008 update notes.
Birthday Present Unlike other Birthday Presents, seventh year Birthday Presents are stackable. This is also true for Seventh Birthday Surprise Boxes. If you try to open a 7th Birthday Present while in a competitive outpost, you will get the error message: "This item cannot be used in competitive missions".
Icy Dragon Sword Unlike regular elemental weapons, such as Fiery Dragon Sword and Fiery Gladius, the Icy Dragon Sword uses white font color in its damage description.
Ice The description fails to mention that this is a Quest item.
Gold Zaishen Coin If you use a Salvage Kit, you will salvage one Pile of Glittering Dust from one Gold Zaishen Coin without the game freezing, despite a warning that you will destroy the whole stack.
Celestial Sigil Unlike all other items, Celestial Sigils (acquired before and after the February 7, 2013 update) do not display their description when selected in the Jessie Llam, merchant or Sigil Trader window. Celestial Sigils acquired before the 2013 update can be identified, which increase their base value of 1Platinum.
Divine Scroll When salvaging with a Salvage Kit, it will always salvage one Pile of Glittering Dust. When salvaging with an Expert/Superior Salvage Kit, it will never salvage Pile of Glittering Dust.
Decade Axes "Rival Skies" Unlike Decade Rod "All the World" and all other non-Decade weapons, this axe's appearance is not changed when the wielder is under the effects of a weapon spell.
Decade Sword "Distant Horizon" Unlike Decade Rod "All the World" and all other non-Decade weapons, this sword's appearance is not changed when the wielder is under the effects of a weapon spell.
Decade Scythe "Funeral Fang" Unlike Decade Rod "All the World" and all other non-Decade weapons, this scythe's appearance is not changed when the wielder is under the effects of a weapon spell.
Decade Daggers "High Noon" Unlike Decade Rod "All the World" and all other non-Decade weapons, this daggers' appearance is not changed when the wielder is under the effects of a weapon spell.
The Stonebreaker (wand) The tooltip seems to have an extra space before the item's name.
Proof of Legend A Proof is awarded for completing a cooperative mission within the Raisu Palace (strictly speaking the Raisu Palace and Imperial Sanctum missions) specifically. This area is otherwise considered to be part of the Kaineng City region.
Anniversary Axe "Engrave" This axe deals cold damage inherently, not as a result of an Icy axe haft. The axe can still be upgraded with a non-elemental damage Axe Haft without removing the cold damage.
Anniversary Scythe "Sufferer" This scythe deals dark damage inherently. The scythe can be upgraded with a non-elemental damage Scythe Snathe without removing the dark damage.
A Brother's Fury The Longbow from this quest reward is itself not salvageable, but the Poisonous Bowstring on it can be salvaged.
Everlasting Mobstopper Despite the description stating it will attempt to capture the targeted Skeleton, this item can capture any nearly dead skeleton or corpse of a skeleton in your area, and is player-specific.
Bloodstained Insignia Despite being a common tier insignia, it can only be found on rare armor pieces. Aura of the Lich is not affected by this insignia.
Anniversary Hammer "Verdict" This hammer deals holy damage inherently. The hammer can be upgraded with a non-elemental damage Hammer Haft without removing the holy damage.
Imperial Guard Reinforcement Order The guards summoned by this item will trigger effects from skills affecting summoned creatures, such as Boon of Creation and Spirit's Gift.

Locations[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Borlis Pass The Dwarven Soldier mentions being safe in Droknar's Forge, but that town is not reached until later in the Prophecies' storyline. Sometimes Whiskar Featherstorm spawns instead of Ice Drake. Killing Whiskar Featherstorm will still complete the bonus objective. The two Frostfire Dryders that accompany the Ice Drake/Whiskar Featherstorm also have to be killed to complete the bonus objective.
Maguuma Stade The henchmen here show up as neutral NPCs (lime triangle) on the compass rather than their normal ally (green circle) appearance.
The Floodplain of Mahnkelon There is a Whispers Informant in the northeastern shrine offering Elemental Hunt despite the fact that there are no elementals in this area (aside from those that appear during the primary quest To Kill a Demon). All party members must have completed Pogahn Passage or Rilohn Refuge in order to vanquish this area, or the waterworks area will be unreachable due to all gates being closed. The NPCs related to the quest Drakes on the Plain (drakes and human NPCs) may spawn even if this quest has never been taken, the only condition is presence of Koss in the party.
Linnok Courtyard The secondary professions quests are offered in different order. Master Togo is always seen in this area even after completion of the Factions campaign.
Bloodstone Caves As noted above, in the final area on level 2, undead who have not yet turned hostile (green dots) will aid you as allies against those that have (red dots).
Gate of Torment The Xunlai Chests here are labeled "Storage Chest" instead, possibly accidentally left out when the Xunlai agents were reworked.
Divinity Coast When fighting the Mergoyle Wavebreakers at the cleansing fountain, a White Mantle Abbot, assumed to be running around panicking about the Mergoyles, will intentionally heal them with Heal Other. While up to five chosen are saved during the mission, the end cutscene only has four. The first chosen Villager becomes an ally before acquiring the Eye. Skipping the initial cutscene while the camera is focused on the Fountain of Truth will move Justicar Hablion from his position near the Eye of Janthir to stand by the fountain.
Zaishen Challenge After winning a match, "Consecutive Wins: 1" will display in the middle of the screen. Since you are immediately returned to the outpost after a win or loss, and the counter is reset, you cannot gain a consecutive win streak larger than 1.
Alcazia Tangle The southern edge of the map does not line up with the character perspectives along the coast. For this reason, some of the explorable footage in those areas does not clear when explored.
The Battle Isles Although the Battle Isles are inhabited by the Zaishen who are descended from Cantha, the icons on the world map are from the Tyrian continent. If Hard Mode is active when traveling here, a message will say it is disabled because you do not meet the requirements.
Gate of Desolation The Junundu Young will travel through the rocky terrain that your party must cross in human form. If you save all of the young before talking to Aijundu, when you do, it will say you have saved 0 of 3 junundu young, but you will still get the Master's reward when the mission is complete.
Xaquang Skyway As with any bridges, NPC models in the area may not render when they are on the opposite side from the player: the bodies disappear, although the names can still be seen and they can still be targeted.
Boreas Seabed The Spear of Archemorus deals more damage to Zhu Hanuku than expected; it can exceed 1,900 damage at full charge.
Gates of Kryta If Oink is not with your party, Orrian Historian McClain will still take the Orrian text; you have to return again with the pig to get credit. In their dialogue, Josephine repeats the Merchant's last line. Some elements of the dialogue in the White Mantle encampment seem to happen in the wrong order, with one character lagging behind the other. After you return Oink to Cheswick, Orrian Historian McClain will tell you that there is a shipwreck to the southwest, even though it is northeast.
Resplendent Makuun The exit portal marker for Wilderness of Bahdza is placed too far west on the map.
Ascalon City The Guild registrar and guild emblemer NPCs are missing from International Districts.
Ascalon City (pre-Searing) The Guild Registrar (NPC) is missing from International Districts.
Foible's Fair For some reason there are two exit symbols.
The Frost Gate Contrary to the mission objective, the mission will continue even if Prince Rurik dies before all 3 Lever Mechanisms have been activated. Sometimes a Chest/Locked Chest will spawn on the path (that cannot be reached by players) taken by Prince Rurik and the Ascalon Soldiers.
The Dragon's Lair Before the slope down towards the Facet's chamber, there is a small area where the Domain of Health Draining does not work. This might be used to prepare and regenerate.
Costume Brawl (outpost) Even though you get a different set of skills, there will still be a message if your own skills are updated to PvP version.
Ice Caves of Sorrow The Mursaat are not hostile to Darda Goldenchief's group. Sometimes, a Shiverpeak Chest will spawn in an unreachable location near the ice boat siege engines.
Bogroot Growths A boulder trap can be seen on first level on the upper part of the map but it apparently doesn't trigger.
The Underworld Allies created by summoning stones are not teleported with the party when talking to a Reaper. This can cause wipes on certain quests. One example is getting the Reaper of the Labyrinth killed during The Unwanted Guests.
Lornar's Pass When you enter the area from Beacon's Perch, the gate back in is closed; however, you can still walk through it.
Dunes of Despair It is possible to enter the buildings to the southwest and southeast of the Throne of Pellentia even when the bridges appear to be up.
Prophet's Path Various groups of patrolling minotaurs are hostile to all foes, including other minotaurs. If you start from Augury Rock, Heroes' Audience, or Vulture Drifts and kill all the foes south of the green oasis belt, sometimes the area is considered vanquished, even if there are still foes north of the line of greenery (the area outside of the Amnoon Oasis).
The Great Northern Wall The subtitles in the end-cinematic do not match the spoken dialogue: as noted above, the party leader begins the spoken version by saying "sir," whereas in the text version, the honorific appears in the middle of the sentence, "We found Bonfaaz Burntfur and the Charr army, sir, in a valley to the north."
Kodonur Crossroads Unlike the other Veldrunner Centaurs, the Veldrunner Centaur boss does not appear in the party window and gives the party a morale boost if killed by enemies.
Zaishen Menagerie Grounds On the grounds, when level 5 charmable animals are attacked, they become hostile. However, (1) they do not attack the party and (2) sometimes, the other members of their species also turn hostile. Despite Zaishen Menagerie being considered as a PvP area, you are still able to equip and use heroes.
Wajjun Bazaar Some players have reported problems with the kills-counter for vanquishing in this area under some narrow circumstances. If the player kills the mantids first, the counter might show 90% completion even though there are up to 200 more non-popup foes remaining. If the player kills the Jade Brotherhood first, then the Vanquish reward is given without killing the mantids.
The Black Curtain Even though the appearance is the same, certain areas of the bog will inflict a Poison condition, while others will not. Even though your party is allowed eight spots, you lose your henchmen when map traveling to Temple of the Ages from the Black Curtain with only heroes and henchmen in your party.
Lion's Arch (Halloween) Guild registrar and guild emblemer NPCs are missing from International Districts. Loremaster Ermenred is missing. Canthan Ferry Captain appears in place of Canthan Ambassador with the same dialogue as the Canthan Ambassador.
The Mausoleum Neither the mission map nor the compass show the map of the area. In addition, the map does not show your path or become unfogged as you travel. Drops in this area have inherent modifiers, including spears and scythes, which are inscribable everywhere else. Wands, foci, and shields might have salvageable suffix mods (in addition to their typical inherent ones), unlike in other Prophecies areas. However, you can not upgrade these weapons.
Sanctum Cay (outpost) On the small path on the south that leads up the hill, you cannot get to the fence at the end of the path. Your character stops at a bunch of grass on the side of the path.
Tomb of the Primeval Kings (Halloween) The Sigil Trader is missing from International Districts.
Gyala Hatchery There are 2 NPCs named Petras in the final battle. Any Young Turtles that die appear to be resurrected after the cinematic; however, they still count as "dead" for the master's reward.
Gate of Madness When fighting Shiro Tagachi and the Undead Lich don't back too far away from the temple or your whole party will die.
Silverwood Just outside the entrance to Bloodstone Fen, there is an area that appears to keep "foggy" as if unexplored.
Abaddon's Mouth Dryder bosses may not spawn at all.
Hall of Monuments If you have completed the War in Kryta, but missed some of the scenes that take place in the hall due to following the War in Kryta quest, they can still take place, but with the supposedly missing Thackeray. If the Rainbow Phoenix takes damage and becomes hostile, Ogden and Thackeray will heal it.
Nundu Bay The group at the Harbinger of Nightfall will be there before you grab the Vial, making it easier to fight the Harbinger of Nightfall when he spawns. Sometimes Elder Jonah will follow and heal your minions when you leave the village to go fight the Harbinger of Nightfall. As you must protect him or the mission fails, consider sacrificing your minions before leaving the village to avoid this bug. If Elder Jonah starts to follow the group, you can bring the minion master near the entrance of the Sanctuary to lure him back to safety. As with Jennur's Horde, killing only the two additional Harbingers does not complete the bonus. You must kill the entire group to get credit. The overland and world maps still show the character on the normal Marga Coast when in this mission, unlike other Nightfallen regions.
Shards of Orr If Fendi Nin is killed by a flame jet without any interaction from your party, the Soul of Fendi Nin will not appear. Instead, as you approach the jet, Fendi Nin will respawn with full health.
Cathedral of Flames The Bone Fiends and Servant of Murakai in the final room are not vulnerable to skills that affect summoned creatures, even though they are identified as being summoned. Despite being collectors, Dextarr Dirtdigger and Lars Bridgeater do not have [Collector] appended to their names, and do not appear on the mission map.
Nebo Terrace (War in Kryta) The sitting Peacekeeper Clairvoyant will not react to players and remain sitting until death. If you lose aggro of any peacekeeper that was performing an action, they will resume that action where they lost aggro, and some appear to be without a group.
Thunderhead Keep King Jalis may open the gates to the fort before killing all the mobs of city foes. After you clear the fort, the first objective will be counted as completed and you can complete the mission with remaining foes in the city. The extra foes sent to the fort from the Bonus are hostile towards all other enemies, even of the same kind. The bonus timer can be started before the cutscene depending on which foes you kill first. This will cause you to easily fail the bonus due to not enough time. The White Mantle and Mursaat foes that are supposedly spawned from the portal at the northernmost point of the mission actually appear in the clearing just south of the portal before running up to it and then starting their patrol route.
Grand Court of Sebelkeh (outpost) The quest marker will always point out of the east exit, even if heading out the west exit would be nearer to the next quest trigger.
Tihark Orchard (outpost) As in the Grand Court of Sebelkeh, the quest star may not show the closest exit to certain quest objectives.
Fort Ranik (outpost) You can walk through the central pillar on the western wall to a small space between a dirt wall and the fort.
Diessa Lowlands The Stone Elemental groups are hostile towards each other. The exit to Nolani Academy has no physical Resurrection Shrine, even though it appears on the Mission Map and is functional.
Temple of the Ages If you exit from here with a party of seven heroes and one player, when you attempt to map travel to another outpost from a connected explorable area (e.g. The Black Curtain), you will receive an error message stating that your party is too big to enter — even if that outpost allows parties of eight. However, you can ignore the message; the entire party will still be transported to the new outpost.
Zaishen Elite All of the enemies have only one visible profession, but use skills from two.
Riverside Province Unlike other Prophecies missions, chests do not appear during this mission. To complete the bonus objective, only the Seekers in the towers need to be killed even though the bonus text suggests that the Watchtower Guards must be defeated.
Shining Blade camp If anyone in your party has unlocked Lion's Arch Keep, Salma, Evennia and Bartholos will not spawn, preventing progress in the War in Kryta content. To fix this, rezone back into Talmark Wilderness without those players. (Normally, spawns follow the player who has made the least progress in the storyline.)
Aurora Glade Summoned creatures will not be teleported with the party. Allies from summoning stones will remain alive and cannot be re-summoned in the next area. Less will start attacking the White Mantle Knights once he is within compass range; however, the knights themselves will not do anything until the player gets close. If the player stays far outside aggro range, Less will kill both of the knights without risk to himself.
The Black Curtain (War in Kryta) Even though the appearance is the same, certain areas of the bog will inflict a Poison condition, while others will not.
Talmark Wilderness (War in Kryta) Unlike other War in Kryta explorable areas, this area has no White Mantle. Livia is still renamed as a "Shining Blade Necromancer" after the War in Kryta, even though she does not appear anywhere as an NPC.
Unwaking Waters Unlike the other henchmen NPCs, if no party joined from Unwaking Waters (Luxon), Aeson uses a skill set that is different from the one he uses as a henchman.
Nolani Academy At the start of the mission, if a party member gets too close to the boss (and its group's spawning location), the starting gate will open after that group dies. Any remaining Charr near the gate will rush Prince Rurik, risking his death (and mission failure). To avoid this, avoid the spawn-point by pulling the boss group away, giving you a chance to kill the other two groups of Charr.
Tihark Orchard Unlike Augury Rock, you can use summoning stones during this mission.
Sacnoth Valley The flaming spirits surrounding Borrguus Blisterbark will shout phrases normally attributed to the Charr, e.g. "For the warband!".
Sunjiang District Although they are not fleshy (with the exception of Flesh Golems), Celestial Summoning Stone and minion allies can be affected by the bleeding traps and poisoned water.
Sanctum Cay Even before the first cinematic, Vizier Khilbron holds the Scepter of Orr despite the fact that it was not yet given to him.
Scarred Psyche When Thorn and Joko speak, a face will not appear in the dialogue box, even if they are within radar distance. The Mission Map is blank.
Minister Cho's Estate Although Minister Cho turns into the Diseased Minister at the end of the mission, he leaves behind a human corpse when he dies.
Zin Ku Corridor If a party enters Zin Ku Corridor from Sunjiang District, they will end up in front of the exit to Tahnnakai Temple, on the other side of the outpost.
Embark Beach The boat is in the wrong position on the compass and Mission Map.
Urgoz's Warren If someone is too close to the gate in room 10 when it closes, that person can be trapped within the door and won't be able to move out of it.
Regent Valley At the exit to Pockmark Flats the shrine on the other side looks destroyed with both arches incomplete but when changing the area the shrine is complete and working.
Peacekeeper camp The sitting Peacekeeper Clairvoyant will not react to players and remain sitting until death.
Glint's Challenge Using the resign command here does nothing.
Ruins of Surmia Note that the Quest Log indicates to "follow the Flame Keepers", but the name of the Charr the party must follow is "Ember Bearer".
Arachni's Haunt In first person mode, you can see behind the walls if you stand next to them at certain points:
  • On Level 1: an extra normal gate and several hidden rooms.
  • On Level 2: an extra Asura Gate behind one of the walls.
On Level 2, there is an Albino Rat that occasionally spawns behind the walls. You can shadow step or teleport to it (e.g. using Consume Corpse), which will leave you stuck behind the wall (unless you can jump back, e.g. via Recall).
Kinya Province Even before the quest to go to the Aerie area, the map icon for the Naga Hide collector will show on the mission map, without the actual collector being in the Aerie.
Pockmark Flats The collector Nicanor Gannel does not always appear; his presence might be tied to the type of spawns in the crystal valley.
Anvil Rock A few groups of Centaurs have been reported to be hostile to each other.
Sparkfly Swamp The Zaishen Vanquish quest indicates that the Sparkfly Swamp is part of the Southern Shiverpeaks.
Raven's Point There appears to be an unreachable area beyond the south west corner of level 2 which does not appear on the minimap, within which a Whirling Wisp may occasionally be seen.
The Fissure of Woe The lava in the Fissure of Woe is harmless.
Thirsty River The Morale Boost granted upon killing a Sand Giant also affects animal companions.
Gate of Pain Dunkoro might show up twice during the ending cinematic.
Dasha Vestibule Goren might show up twice in the cinematic
Shrine of the Raven Spirit Unlike the Shrine of the Wolf Spirit and Shrine of the Bear Spirit, the center of the shrine doesn't picture the corresponding animal (the image is a bear instead of a raven).
Lakeside County Warmaster Grast, Farrah Cappo, and the Statue of Balthazar in Green Hills County are visible from the Lakeside County side of the portal. Brother Mhenlo, the Statue of Dwayna, and the entrance to the Catacombs are visible from outside of Ashford Abbey. Mhenlo is seen in his original 2005 location.
Joko's Domain If A Deal's a Deal is active, you may not receive credit for vanquishing even if the party defeats the last foe before triggering the cinematic.
Tanglewood Copse This outpost does not have a signpost leading to Arborstone (explorable area).
Bloodstone Glint mentions that if a Chosen is killed on top of a bloodstone, "no magic on this world or any other will bring them back.", but the player character will be resurrected as usual if the event occurs.
Monastery Overlook If you complete Mantid Hatchlings quest and log out before leaving Monastery overlook, both the beginning and ending dialogue will play at the same time, some lines from one canceling out lines from the other.
Consulate Docks (outpost) The loading screen for this area is the loading screen for Kourna.
The Wilds In the line "The leaders of the two strongest Centaur tribes are on the verge of an agreement." the word "verge" is sometimes censored by the game's chat filter.
Vizunah Square If your party has a monk maintaining Unyielding Aura, Shiro won't wipe the whole party. If the party leader is resurrected by this means, they will not appear in the proper place for the cinematics.
Green Hills caravan The Ascalonian Peasants don't have passive health regeneration. If the Hulking Stone Elemental that attacked them is killed while they aren't at full health, their health will never go back to being full.
Healing Spring (landmark) Unlike the healing waters of the Maguuma jungle or the Statue of Melandru due north, the Healing Spring in Regent Valley doesn't actually possess healing properties in-game, only in the lore.
Wizard's Folly The portal to Regent Valley seems to be misaligned. On the minimap the bridge connects south of the portal, and upon crossing into Wizard's Folly the player character spawns south of the portal looking north (instead of west), despite coming from the east. The territory marker's also on the road leading to the bridge, not to the side.

Missions[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Borlis Pass The Dwarven Soldier mentions being safe in Droknar's Forge, but that town is not reached until later in the Prophecies' storyline.
Urgoz's Warren If someone is too close to the gate in room 10 when it closes, that person can be trapped within the door and won't be able to move out of it.
Glint's Challenge Using the resign command here does nothing.
Ruins of Surmia Note that the Quest Log indicates to "follow the Flame Keepers", but the name of the Charr the party must follow is "Ember Bearer".
Thirsty River The Morale Boost granted upon killing a Sand Giant also affects animal companions.
Gate of Pain Dunkoro might show up twice during the ending cinematic.
Dasha Vestibule Goren might show up twice in the cinematic
The Wilds In the line "The leaders of the two strongest Centaur tribes are on the verge of an agreement." the word "verge" is sometimes censored by the game's chat filter.
Vizunah Square If your party has a monk maintaining Unyielding Aura, Shiro won't wipe the whole party. If the party leader is resurrected by this means, they will not appear in the proper place for the cinematics.

NPCs[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Supplymaster Micah Strangely, Micah appears to be using a Norn model, despite his dialogue and also standing together with the Ebon Vanguard contingent in the Epilogue.
Student of Poison Despite having the appearance and armor of a Ranger, this is in fact a Warrior. He can inflict poison on non-fleshy creatures.
Istani Farmer It's a little strange to have Istani farmers populate the reclaimed Dejarin Estate. The NPC model used would suggest that it should have been Kournan farmers.
Charr Prison Guard (boss) They will drop a Prison Key after dying. If resurrected by a Charr Dominator and killed again, another key will drop.
Balthazar's Eternal Even though Balthazar's Eternal is not considered a boss (you cannot use Signet of Capture to obtain a skill from it and it doesn't have innate health regeneration), it leaves a non-exploitable corpse that does not disappear. The bodies of the Ghostly Griffons that accompany it however, do disappear. Similar to Prophecies bosses, Balthazar's Eternal uses Natural Resistance.
Eshekibeh Longneck A Dervish boss named Marobeh Sharptail strangely drops Eshekibeh's Scythe. The names are likely unintentionally swapped.
Marobeh Sharptail A necromancer boss named Eshekibeh Longneck strangely drops Marobeh's Chill. The names are likely unintentionally swapped.
Scorch Emberspire Despite the fact that this NPC declares that he is a spirit, he does not appear as a translucent being like other spirits, but as a living NPC.
Frozen Elemental While they are allied to Modniir in Drakkar Lake, they are their enemies in Norrhart Domains. In Varajar Fells, some groups fight each other and some do not.

Warmaster Riga Warmaster Riga is a merchant, but doesn't have [Merchant] next to his name.
M.O.X. M.O.X. appears outside of ports whenever one or more party members is eligible to recruit it. This provides an undocumented method for getting a second copy of the manual.

Borrguus Blisterbark Borrguus and his team will use Charr battle shouts, and battle tactics.
Murakai, Lady of the Night Her lore, appearance, and skills all suggest she is a Necromancer, but she drops Warrior skill tomes.

Mai In the Monastery Overlook mission, Mai does not have health regeneration.

Black Bear *Black Bears exhibit unusual pet behavior while in Pre-Searing Ascalon such as a wide wandering range, automatically aggressive behavior, and slower reaction when it comes to following its tamer (similar to non-tamed black bears in Pre-Searing).
  • These behaviors appear to go away after the bear gains a level.
Luxon Ranger The hostile Luxon Rangers in the Eternal Grove use Heal as One and Run As One while no pet appears to be present.
Vatlaaw Doomtooth Unlike most other Prophecies bosses, Vatlaaw does not have Natural Resistance.

Stone Summit Engineer The morale boost granted upon killing an Engineer also affects pets.
Grasp of Insanity (actor) May spawn with a shield.
White Mantle Engineer The morale boost granted upon killing an Engineer also affects pets.
Homeless Canthan Homeless Canthans have a different skin (the one on the right) while the Luxury Goods quest is active.
Rainbow Phoenix The Phoenix can appear in your Hall of Monuments under other conditions than listed above. However, no one has yet advanced a successful theory that explains the exceptions. Some players speculate that things have changed since the introduction of the account-wide view of the HoM. See the discussion page for details.
Troublesome Flamingo The flamingos always spawn for non-Nightfall characters even though the quest is not available to them.
Lion There is a group of aggressive, but charmable, level 12 lions and lionesses northwest of the Command Post portal in Jahai Bluffs. This group is only available before you complete the quest the Great Zehtuka.
Lioness There is a group of aggressive, but charmable, level 12 lions and lionesses northwest of the Command Post portal in Jahai Bluffs. This group is only available before you complete the quest the Great Zehtuka.

Keshel the Voracious Unlike most other bosses, Keshel is a lower level than the nearby monsters of the same type.
Black Moa The Black Moa will appear if at least one party member meets the requirements.
King Jalis Ironhammer He often appears under shorter forms of his name. This does not affect any interaction with him. The option to decline the talisman does the same as the cancel option below it.
Rubi Spottedmane This boss uses the model of a Maguuma centaur, not a Shiverpeak centaur.
Yino Burlyhaunch This boss uses the model of a Maguuma centaur, not a Shiverpeak centaur.
Gardener Pohsin Her standard dialogue incorrectly mentions the Garden of Seborhin (which is an explorable area) instead of the Hanging Gardens of Jahin landmark.

Grenth's Balance The concise description omits the fact that your health gain (and your target's health loss) is capped by your maximum health.

Captain Li Sah Her quote about earning Victory Tokens also appears during Canthan New Year, when Lunar Tokens are awarded instead.
Keiran Thackeray When Keiran is in your party in the Hall of Monuments, he retains his original name, which can result in seeing two NPCs named "Keiran Thackeray". Similarly, you can find two Keirans in Ice Cliff Chasms if Charr-broiled Plans is active while Keiran prepares his picnic.
Student of Disease He can inflict disease on non-fleshy creatures.
Calissa Sedgwick As noted, she is the only permanent collector in the game who collects salvage items instead of trophies.
Master Scout Kiera She appears with an exclamation mark over her head until players speak with her for the first time, but she gives no quest, neither give any kind of service such as 'gate keeper'.
Raging Infernal Wurm The Raging Infernal Wurm uses a Frost Wurm model instead of an Infernal Wurm model.
"Kilroy Stonekin" Unlike other shouts, the range of this skill is closer to spirit range than within earshot.
Ghostly Sunspear Commander Although this NPC has a quest originator icon (green exclamation mark) over their head, they appears to give no quest.
Spear of Archemorus (skill) This skill's sixth level deals 300 damage, causes knock down on foes it deals damage to, and changes the display name of the Spear of Archemorus to "Supreme Spear of Archemorus". This level does not have its own skill icon and the 300 damage will not appear in the skill description. Instead, the skill icon and description appear the same is if the spear was powered to level 5. If the spear is picked up when it is the Supreme Spear of Archemorus, this skill does not appear in the effects monitor, but will deal the 300 damage and cause knock down. This level functions similar to Archemorus' Strike.
Verata's Aura Recasting Verata's Aura starts a new timer; it does not reset the original one (as would be the case with other enchantments). The minions covered by the original Aura will become masterless as scheduled; any created between the two castings will be covered by the second enchantment. Consider bringing self enchantment removal skills such as Contemplation of Purity, and only renew the enchantment near its end.
Canthan Man During Mayhem in the Market (cinematic), he doesn't fight. However, during Welcome to Cantha (cinematic), he does.

Balthazar's Rage Similar to other skills with an end effect, the end effect of Balthazar's Rage will trigger upon death. When a character who died while enchanted with Balthazar's Rage is resurrected, the adrenaline gained from this skill's end effect will still be active on the character, instead of having no adrenaline when resurrected.

Luxon Priest Similar to Kurzick Priests, if the Luxon Priest is unfriendly to your party when first approached:
  • The Luxon Priest and his accompanying shrine NPCs (i.e. Luxon Merchant and Guards) will not attack the foes of your party and those foes will not attack the shrine NPCs.

  • All of this occurs whether or not you bribe that Luxon Priest.
Kurzick Priest Similar to Luxon Priests, if the Kurzick Priest is unfriendly to your party when first approached:
  • The Kurzick Priest and his accompanying shrine NPCs (i.e. Kurzick Merchant and Guards) will not attack the foes of your party and those foes will not attack the shrine NPCs.

Wintun the Black He does not spawn during War in Kryta; even though, his "Feathered Caromi Scalp Collector" icon continues to appear on the Mission Map.
Shrine of the Raven Spirit Unlike the Shrine of the Wolf Spirit and Shrine of the Bear Spirit, the center of the shrine doesn't picture the corresponding animal (the image is a bear instead of a raven).
Silent Ancient Onata This is the only Shiro'ken boss with a different skin than others of the same profession.
Rogue Bull Its corpse never disappears.
Captain Osric The first time he spawns in Lakeside County he is level 20 and uses the post-Searing Ascalon Guard model.

Quests[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Drink of the Gods Despite the quest objective stating you have to kill the demons, you only have to click the wine crate to complete the quest.
Insatiable Appetite This quest will not appear in the quest log. Toma will not spawn if Undead Defenders is active; if needed, complete that quest and rezone to finish Insatiable Appetite. (After the initial dialogue for Undead Defenders between Elder Jonah, Tuma, and the herdsmen, Chuno disappears.)
Out of Kourna 1 Experience
Feed the Hungry Sometimes the second group of Afflicted gets stuck with fighting the peasants by the big hole before both of the bridges. If so, you'll have to run all the way down to the hole and kill them there.
Ruins of Surmia (quest) Even though this quest is part of the main quest chain, it's shown under the Ascalon Quests tab, not under Primary Quests tab.
To Kryta: Journey's End Characters from other campaigns can get this quest. They should not be able to access any quests before Lion's Arch. Despite Braun's claims to hate the undead, he will heal any injured undead that come near him.
The Agriculturist If you accept this quest then leave the area, the quest marker will be in the wrong place when you return. The marker will still be in Aerie, though you must collect Tahbo Paa again.
Service: In Defense of the Eye When you resign, you get the usual, message that "Your party was defeated". However, you remain alive and centaurs continue to attack you until you're returned to the outpost. If you kill the boss too far from the main battle (the base of the stairs), your three allies will start celebrating at the location where the boss died; they will not return with you to the stairs to kill any remaining foes.
Forbidden Fruit Because the gas bombs technically kill and then resurrect the Charr (including Gharaz the Glutton) in the fort, they will not yield any experience, reputation points or drops after the bombs have been set off.
Straight to the Heart Snowmen will sometimes spawn behind the wall near the area map. These are unreachable on this map (this also happens in the dungeon, as well, but they can be reached after completing the dungeon or by teleporting) After killing a Grentch, snowmen will sometimes become inactive if another target isn't immediately in range and can be hit by 2-3 snowballs before they start throwing again. This is most apparent when using hit-and-run attacks with Sneaky or Sacrificial Grentches
Snowball Dominance Journey to the North will still boost health for lower-level characters, giving them an advantage over the opposing team. Your pet will accompany you if you begin with Heal as One, Charm or Comfort Animal equipped. It will not deal damage, but can be targeted by foes. If it dies, your skills will still be disabled.
Gwen's Flute (quest) If you form a party with anyone who has already started or completed this quest, or has given her the new flute or new cape, then Gwen will not give you the Tapestry Shred. Afterwards, everyone that will form a party with you and enter this area will have the same situation. This quest is not necessary for monks to obtain the Tapestry Shred. If you give her the new flute, new cape and flowers, she will give you the Tapestry Shred. If you are in a party with some one doing this quest (giving her the broken flute) after your party member gives her the broken flute and you need to speak to her she will give you the 250 experience points. She will say "Your friend found my flute. Thank You."
Nahpui Quarter (Zaishen quest) To complete the first bonus objective, you must complete the mission within 40 minutes in Hard Mode or 25 minutes in Normal Mode. It may be that the text should read "complete the mission and attain the Master's Reward" rather than give a fixed time frame.
For Your Ears Only The quest states to find Sergeant Bokkun in Sebelkeh Basilica, although he actually stands just outside Dzagonur Bastion.
Leaving a Legacy Dunkoro's potential death does not lead to failure.
A Loose Cannon Shaudok is shown holding a sword and shield rather than the spear Kohanu refers to. The pre-quest offer dialogue will always get initiated for non-Nightfall characters despite the fact that non-Nightfall characters will not be offered this quest.
A Peaceful Solution Shaudok is shown holding a sword and shield rather than the spear Kohanu refers to. The pre-quest offer dialogue will always get initiated for non-Nightfall characters despite the fact that non-Nightfall characters will not be offered this quest.
Crystal Method Bloodstone Cave appears to be blocked by a door, but you can walk through it to cross the portal.
Melonni Goes Recruiting Although Jehrono is labeled as a rare material trader, he acts like a normal material trader. However, this bears no significance to the function of the Command Post since both types of material traders are already present.
Rally The Princes You can skip the earlier objectives of this quest and go straight to the Font of Lyss and then talk to Priestess Haila to go to Tihark where you can complete the quest. Priestess Haila says that Kehanni is already at the Garden of Seborhin, but in fact, she's standing right next to her.
Message from a Friend This is marked as a Primary Quest but is not required to leave pre-Searing.
The Rogue's Replacement If you have someone with you who is neither a primary nor a secondary Mesmer, Old Mac doesn't reappear. While Old Mac is talking to Lady Althea (before he gives the quest) he answers Althea a few moments before she says anything.
Sowing Seeds When Farmer Hamnet gets to the portal at Ascalon City, he can be seen walking beyond the portal. You can Shadow Step into Ascalon City without triggering the portal
Mantid Hatchlings If you resign while in the area the Krytan loading screen will be seen briefly, then quickly change to the Shing Jea loading screen.
The Xunlai Agent While this quest is to retrieve a specific item, the "result" isn't like any other, in that the item being retrieved doesn't actually appear in your inventory, and it isn't an item that needs to be carried to a certain person or place. The quest dialogue states that you are to return with a Storage Vault but the item that you obtain is called a Storage Chest.
The Judge Unlike regular Siege Ice Golems, the Judge can be knocked down.
The Road Less Traveled Depending on how far back you stay, Brother Pe Wan may get killed, and yet when you enter Seitung Harbor, he is there waiting for you.
Borlis Pass (Zaishen quest) The 2 Frostfire Dryders that accompany the Ice Drake also have to be killed to complete the first bonus objective.
Need More Stuff If your inventory is full when you attempt to make the trade, you will receive a message saying such and the quest will still complete.
Dual Strike Your target doesn't spawn until you tell Panaku to start the assassination.
The Underworld Allies created by summoning stones are not teleported with the party when talking to a Reaper. This can cause wipes on certain quests. One example is getting the Reaper of the Labyrinth killed during The Unwanted Guests.
Hungry Devourer If you have more then 10 pieces of meat in your inventory, and then feed Joe, he will take all of the pieces of meat from your inventory. After feeding Joe the 10 pieces of meat, if you leave the instance before talking to Old Mac he will not continue with his dialogue. However the quest will update allowing you to talk to Master Saberlin to collect your reward.
Endangered Species A Melandru's Stalker obtained from the Zaishen Menagerie will not suffice.
The Greatest Snowman Ever Made When your character isn't in Nebo Terrace, the objective will appear as "You have 10 remaining" in your quest log; however, when your character is in Nebo Terrace, it will appear as "You have 17 remaining".
The Experimental Weaponsmith Despite what the quest reward dialogue says, Rutger will never craft weapons.
Unwanted Guests Skeletons, who were added later, will not die when killing the Keepers of Souls.
In the Army (Luxon) All of the recruits are monks, regardless of their named profession.
In the Army Now (Kurzick) Despite the profession suggested by their names (e.g. Kurzick Elementalist Recruit), all the recruits are monks and carry swords. The recruits have dialogue that appears to be in response to an encounter with Luxons. However, it can be triggered any time after they join your party.
Wanted: Inquisitor Lashona This quest cannot be combined with Merchant's Plea and only under certain circumstances with Defend North Kryta Province; Captain Greywind refuses to talk about shipment.
Alliance Battles (Zaishen quest) Though the quest says "at least 200 points", the first bonus actually requires victory by more than 200 points.
Scorched Earth (Prophecies quest) Oddly, Hulking Stone Elemental bosses, such as Flint Touchstone and Cobble Poundstone, don't add to the counter.
Zinn's Task While in Zinn's Secret Lair, the map displays as if the party is beneath Oola's Lab; however, the Lair is northwest of that location. Page 5 of the manual says, "bring M.O.X. with you, as he will be able to bypass the security protocols;" however, the quest log fails to make this requirement clear.
Pledge of the Merchant Princes During this quest, you can find another Prince Mehtu standing in the left chamber of the halls, in addition to the Prince Mehtu that spawns for the quest. It is possible to skip the first three objectives by talking to Morgahn. When doing this quest in Hard Mode, Vabbi Guards are occasionally able to outheal the damage output from the Margonites if a Margonite Cleric is present, causing them to never reach the Halls of Chokhin.
The Drunken Master When approaching Drinkmaster Tahnu, you cannot use the usual approach of clicking on him, then pressing space bar. For some reason, the game will not let you use this method.
Feast of Bokka Unlike most quests, there appears to be no chat screen notice about Royal Chef Hatundo taking the items.
Signs and Portents This quests removes the spawn of a Sunspear Scout at the resurrection shrine near where you first meet Melonni.
Trade Relations The chat window doesn't display Elder Olunideh taking the shells.
Proof of Courage Although the quest instructs you to retrieve the sword from a corsair, it is actually found in a Corsair Chest that appears near the Wounded Corsair.
Revenge of the Yeti When the quest is completed, Wulk Cragfist is not removed from the party list. Instead he remains in his location as an ally member until you are out of Sunqua Vale.
Scholarly Affairs If Zerai the Learner is left too far behind, it will cause him to stop moving. The only way to make him follow you again is to get within range of where he stopped.
Sunspear Scout Occasionally, when talking to the second (or more) scout that offers the same bounty (as one you already have) in that map area, they will say "I have already given you that bounty..." even though you have not yet talked to that specific scout.
Secret Passage The pre-quest offer dialogue will always get initiated for non-Nightfall characters despite the fact that non-Nightfall characters will not be offered this quest.
Re-enlist Rojis Rojis will appear outside Kamadan with the group of Sunspears during the quest War Preparations (Recruit Training) even if this quest is not completed.
Commandeering a Mortal Vessel The usual quest marker does not appear on the compass, although it does appear on the world map.
Command Training If the areas are "captured" before talking to Tactician Haj, they will display as such during the quest. This will only become noticeable after talking to him.
Graven Images Although Ithimar is asking you to protect him while he is working, it appears that he helps you fight the Nightmares that appear.
Kilroy Stonekin's Punch-Out Extravaganza! If you resign after opening the dungeon chest, you will receive a note stating that you failed the quest. However, you still be able to collect the reward from Kilroy.
The War in Kryta Players have reported irregular spawns when the party is composed of 2 or more players at different points in the War in Kryta storyline, notably in Talmark Wilderness. The dialogue when asking about the quest is the same as Murro's default dialogue before completing the quest.
Auspicious Beginnings Spirits and pets do not turn hostile in the final battle, even those summoned after enemies turn hostile.
More Cowbell The quest star and the actual location of the Blue Oysters do not always line up.
The Wedding The reward text reads, "You join Keiran Thackeray's party", an inversion of the usual text ("[Hero Name] joins your party"). Jora, Vekk, and Ogden retain their original names, whereas they usually switch to a generic name if their namesake is present in the area.
Charr-broiled Plans There can be two Lieutenant Thackeray's during the quest under certain conditions, e.g. if you have not finished Thackeray's scavenger hunt.
Spreading the Wintersday Spirit When talking to the Frost Maiden on the first leg of this journey, the green arrow over her head sometimes does not appear as would be normal for NPCs with waypoints on quests. However, the green star on the compass map is still there.
Wanted: Inquisitor Lovisa Lovisa might not spawn if Riverside Assassination is active for one or more party members.
Wanted: Justiciar Kasandra The text for the bonus objective is phrased as if it were a second objective (rather than a bonus one).
Summoning stone When dropped on the ground, non-crafted summoning stones do not emit the typical sparkle effect.
In the Service of Revenge Occasionally the quest will be completed without killing Dvalinn Stonebreaker and his group.
Kurzick Supply Lines If Lutgardis Conservatory is under Luxon control, the Luxon Guards at the resurrection shrine will attack any hostile Luxons.
Captain Li Sah Her quote about earning Victory Tokens also appears during Canthan New Year, when Lunar Tokens are awarded instead.
Lambs to the Slaughter Some of the dialogue is misleading:
  • All the action takes place in the Undercity, but the Ask dialogue directs you to Shenzun Tunnels.
  • Although a Shadow Blade Assassin states, "her blade took three of my fingers", he appears to have all ten fingers intact.
A New Escort Although the unnamed merchants are listed as Monks, they do not use any healing skills on themselves or the party. However, they will attack using their wands.
A Little Help From Above Some of the tablets of Janthir are on hills or sloping terrain; they appear to float above the ground (this is most easily observed before the main bridge to Shaemoor).
Crossing the Desolation If you acquire the quest from Lonai, she will claim to not know where the Sunspear Sanctuary is even though she is standing in it. The gold reward, some of the dialogue, and quest game link differs depending on which NPC this quest is acquired from.
Pogahn Passage (Zaishen quest) The quest reward is greater than that of other Zaishen quests from the region.
Annihilator If you die and Corporal Bane kills the Annihilator Golem before you are automatically returned to Embark Beach, the quest is completed and the reward can be collected. If the Annihilator Golem drops an item and you do not pick it up before you are automatically returned to Embark Beach, the Unclaimed Items will not appear.
A Good Deed. This is one of only two quests with an official name that uses a period (.) as punctuation. If Lefsi dies, the quest spawns will still come, as well as Sarah, who will still say her dialogue, despite the quest failing upon Lefsi's death. It remains listed as a festival quest (rather than a Far Shiverpeaks quest), even though it is not linked to any event.[1]
Heart of the Shiverpeaks (quest) Cracked Walls do not block line of sight; you can use ranged attacks to take down foes on the other side.
The Elusive Golemancer The Edification energy boost is granted in this area, unlike most zones in the Depths of Tyria below Asuran territory.
Defend North Kryta Province (Hard mode) If Captain Greywind dies, a window about mission failure will appear but there will be a countdown to resurrecting. However, you die immediately when resurrected. Two of the six Settlement Guards are level 20 instead of level 28.
The Missing Link Senjo Wah can be asked about this quest, although he does not play any role in it.
Flamingo-ing... going... gone. This is one of only two quests with an official name that uses a period (.) as punctuation.
Unwaking Waters Unlike the other henchmen NPCs, if no party joined from Unwaking Waters (Luxon), Aeson uses a skill set that is different from the one he uses as a henchman.
Goren's Stuff: Part 2 This quest is explicitly titled as Part 2 and its story element follows directly from Part 1; however, Part 1 is only available to characters who chose to keep Goren in Brains or Brawn, while Part 2 is available regardless.
Goren's Stuff: Part 1 Although unlocking Goren is a prerequisite for Goren's Stuff: Part 2, this quest itself is not.
Last of the Breed The quest log mentions slaying gray giants and collecting gray giant tusks, but what is actually needed are regular giant tusks which drop from Nomad Giants and Sadistic Giants (and not from Awakened Gray Giants).
Condition Removal Although the dialogue mentions condition removal, Ritualists receive Resilient Weapon, a skill that mitigates, but does not remove conditions.
The Misanthropic Jotun Principle The "Reward dialogue" ignores the fact that Einarr accompanies your party in Darkrime Delves during the quest and was present when your party kills Havok Soulwail.
A Mission of Peace The Jeweled Chalice has what would normally be the skin and attribute of a Jeweled Chakram. Conversely, the quest Frontier Gate Fugitives rewards a Jeweled Chakram with the skin and attribute of a Jeweled Chalice.
Frontier Gate Fugitives The Jeweled Chakram has what would normally be the skin and attribute of a Jeweled Chalice. Conversely, the quest A Mission of Peace rewards a Jeweled Chalice with the skin and attribute of a Jeweled Chakram.
Koss Goes Recruiting Hasahk's presence in the Command Post bears no significance to the function of the Command Post since both types of material traders are already present.
Curse of the Nornbear Similar to Finding the Bloodstone with Livia, if a Jora hero is in your party, you will have two Joras in your party instead of the Jora hero being renamed "Norn Warrior". If you skip receiving Volfen Blessing from the shrine, Jora's dialogue will not appear for the rest of the mission.
Deadly Cargo (Hard mode) The quest reward for this quest lists no gold or experience in the reward, though they are given when the quest is turned in.
Animal companion A pet in Heel mode will be changed back to Guard mode after zoning. When riding Junundu in the Desolation, pets immediately die upon entering the wurm and are resurrected at your location once you exit. They continue to gain experience. The exception is in the Gate of Desolation mission, pets receive their own wurm, but cannot use skills.
Sanctum Cay Even before the first cinematic, Vizier Khilbron holds the Scepter of Orr despite the fact that it was not yet given to him.
Deactivating N.O.X. If you fail this quest, you will be teleported to Honur Hill, even if you started from another outpost and have not yet unlocked it.
Til Death Do Us Part... After completing the quest, Zola will run to Bokka Amphitheatre, even though this is a dead end, not toward her declared destination of Kryta.
The Cipher of Kormir It is possible to obtain this quest without turning in the pre-requisites, however you must have them completed to do so.
Summertime for Bokka Despite what Ola says, Amadi is in southern Resplendent Makuun.
Guild guest Although the invitation claims to have a duration of 8 hours, the true duration is 24 hours. After the first 8 hours expire, the invitation will claim there are 0 minutes remaining.
Drakes on the Plain Unlike other quests with a required hero, you are not provided with a green note in the quest log reminding you to include Koss in the party. Wekehsa still holds the Banana Scythe after you get rewarded
The Box of Illusions Although rescuing Mei Ling after Lo Sha dies will produce the message "Quest failed", after returning to the area the quest will update to the next "Talk to Lo Sha" step. After talking to him again you may return to Headmaster Kaa for the reward.
Annihilator 2: Searing Day Despite being set in pre searing ascalon, the main map (M), mission map (U), and compass show post searing Ascalon. Exploration done during the quest will uncover the corresponding area for the Tyria cartographer title track
A Time for Heroes The lava in this mission does not cause the Crippled condition.
Seeking The Seer Unlike other quest names, "The" in this quest's name is capitalized.
Henchman * Henchmen move at 104% the speed of player characters and heroes.
  • Most Eye of the North henchmen move faster than heroes - a notable exception to this is Eve, who moves at the same pace as heroes.
  • Attempting to add a henchman to your party that is already in your party will display the message "That henchman is already in your party." in the chat window.
Random Arena (Zaishen quest) The quest name, objectives, and dialogue refers to "Random Arenas" as "Random Arena".
Deadly Cargo The quest log notes for Deadly Cargo fail to list the gold or experience rewards.
A Favor Returned The quest log fails to mention the gold and experience rewards.
To Sorrow's Furnace If you speak to any of the NPCs after completing their subquest, your quest log will update as if you need to complete the same subquest again. However, you can skip it and focus on the subquests that remain or proceed with The Final Assault, if you have completed each of the four tasks.
Against the Charr If a certain quest (or quests) are active, Pyre Fierceshot will appear outside Longeye's Ledge before you have started this quest, and will help your party attack the roving bands of Charr, despite that a goal/part of this quest is freeing him.
Rescue at Minister Cho's Estate Quest markers do not display the peasants' locations.
Extensive Plague Exposure This does not affect Heroes. Degeneration accumulates faster than -1 per minute. The rate it increases seems to accelerate as time goes on, averaging around -1 per 20 seconds.[verification requested]
Building the Base: Prisoners of War The Kournan Phalanx will not attack until he says "Did you hear that? We're being followed! Move the prisoners to the back and prepare for attack!"
Finding the Bloodstone Similar to Curse of the Nornbear with Jora, if a Livia hero is in your party, you will have two Livias in your party instead of the Livia hero being renamed "Shining Blade Necromancer".
Sparkfly Swamp (Zaishen vanquish) The quest dialogue indicates that Sparkfly Swamp is part of the Southern Shiverpeaks when it is actually part of Tarnished Coast.
Building the Base: The Meeting The group of Kournan soldiers spawns in mid-air.
Slaves of Menzies Unlike every other quest (except A Strange Request), the objectives include words highlighted in green.
A Strange Request Unlike every other quest (except Slaves of Menzies), the objectives include words highlighted in green.
The Knights Who Say Nian Unlike most other quests where a quest item can only be acquired after killing one or more NPCs, the Knights Who Say Nian and the Festival Dyes chest will continue to spawn even when the "See Johai Sohn for your reward" objective appears in the Quest Log after already killing them and acquiring the Festival Dyes, which allows repeatedly rezoning to kill and acquire the dyes without having to move the dyes out of inventory.
Veiled Threat If you kill the Charr group at the beginning of the level before they close the gate on you and pick up the key they drop, then use the Dungeon Lock, the gate will close.
Guide to character creation If you create a Factions character, and log off immediately after the cinematic loads, your character is listed as being at the same location than your last selected character, with the background of Kryta.[verification requested]
Hylek Cuicana Unlike other Eye of the North Hylek Paragons, this type of Hylek does not use the "Cuicani" suffix. This is believed to be an error.
Minaar's Worry The axe reward does not specify a damage type.
Fire and Pain The reward dialogue seems to suggest that this quest takes place after The Smell of Titan in the Morning; however, the two quests can be completed in either order or together.
War Preparations This is marked as a Primary Quest but is not required to leave pre-Searing.
Eye For Profit The quest will not be marked as completed after obtaing the Lilac Eye.
Sands Of Souls This quest does not show up as a primary quest in the quest log. Though it is similar to other primary quests.
Ghostly Vengeance Boss minotaurs may not count towards the quest.
The Power of Blood Although there are five fanatics, you only need to kill three of them. While Kasha tells you that the Blood Fanatics are fond of Dark Pact, they in fact use Vile Touch.
A Brother's Fury The Longbow from this quest reward is itself not salvageable, but the Poisonous Bowstring on it can be salvaged.
Charr at the Gate The objective to meet up with Rurik outside of Ascalon City is counted separately from the objective to defeat the Charr, despite being one line in the quest log.
The Lost Princess Although this quest is immediately available from Watchman Arad, the initial dialogue makes references to The Royal Papers already being completed.
To Kryta: Refugees Although this quest chronologically follows The Frost Gate, completion of that mission is not required.
Primary Training Accepting the reward as a Ranger teaches Pin Down, even though none of the expert rangers offer the skill.
Choose Your Secondary Profession (Nightfall quest) Accepting the reward as a secondary ranger teaches Pin Down, which is not taught by any of the expert rangers during the previous quest, instead of Power Shot, which is offered by Rakanja.
Into the Fire You can talk to Captain Yithlis at any time, however you still need to talk to each Oddbody NPC to get the reward dialogue from Yithlis. If you talk to Yithlis before the last, the Oddbodies will not join you as allies, but instead stay still after being talked to.
Legionnaire The different weapons are purely cosmetic, as inherent modifiers of some weapons are not active[verification requested]: He does not deal fire damage while wielding a Fiery Dragon Sword, cold damage while wielding an Icy Dragon Sword, and there is no life draining nor health degeneration effect while he wields a Vampiric Dragon Sword.
Grawl Invasion Grawl Invaders will continue to be present on subsequent visits to the area even after the completion of the quest.

Skills[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Whirling Defense Although the damage is nondescript, it does trigger Mark of Pain and Winnowing, making it armor-ignoring physical damage.
Shelter Armor of Unfeeling will reduce the health loss of this spirit caused by its damage mitigation effect. While skill descriptions state "attacks", damage from spells and signets is also reduced. Shelter's effect persists briefly after it prevents damage in a way that would have killed it (video).
Web of Disruption This skill's standard description does not specify whether it can interrupt only skills or all actions, including attacks. The effect is clarified in the concise description which states that both the initial and ending interrupts only affect skills.
Echo Echo's description omits the fact that it cannot copy a Signet of Capture and itself.
Rebel Yell You only receive the energy for killing Charr that grant you experience.
Ice Fort Any effect which would normally cause a knock down will still cause presents to be dropped even if the knock down is prevented. If you shadow step out of your Ice Fort, it still protects you from snowballs and their effects. Although the description says you are immune to all conditions, blind (from Blinding Snow) and crippled (from Avalanche) can still be applied.
Suicide Energy Despite the skill description, the user will not need to get hit to trigger the effect, even blindness will not prevent this skill from working.
Angelic Protection Unlike most typeless skills with no activation time, this skill cannot be activated in the middle of another action and has a slight aftercast delay.
Inspirational Speech Unlike most skills with zero activation time, this skill cannot be activated in the middle of another action and has a slight aftercast delay.
Meteor There is a short delay between the skill activation and the actual effect of this spell that is not stated in the description. This spell actually hits target foe's location one second after being activated (and doesn't compensate for the movement of the target), so the effect can be avoided with speed boosts (including the speed buff given to hostile NPCs in Hard mode).
Raven Swoop (A Gate Too Far) Unlike the regular version of Raven Swoop, damage from this skill is affected by armor.
Heavy Blow If you are under the influence of Withering Aura and your target is not suffering from weakness at the beginning of this attack, then your target will be knocked down but will not suffer the extra damage.
Stone Striker This also converts chaos, dark, damage and spirit attacks damage types into earth damage.
Totem of Man This skill states that you lose all energy when you use it, but in fact you do not lose any energy.
Raven Blessing Although it is classified as a Form, the caster does not change appearance.
Volfen Blessing Although it is classified as a Form, the caster does not change appearance.
Technobabble Exception: this skill will not daze Murakai, Lady of the Night, a boss-like foe. Technobabble's damage respects armor, even though it deals untyped damage.
Aneurysm Aneurysm does not take overcast into account when calculating how much energy to generate; as such, it combines well with skills that force overcast (such as Arcane Languor or Exhausting Assault) as it will deal high damage without actually returning energy.
Mantis Touch Although the skill name implies that the target has to be touched to be affected, this is not the case. It is a normal spell, which can be activated at spell range.
Agony This spirit causes health loss to passive charmable animals; however, this does not turn them hostile.
Feeding Frenzy (skill) Toma sometimes uses this skill also when enemies' health drops below 50%
Splinter Mine (Flame Geyser) This skill neither inflicts bleeding nor crippled.
Siege Turtle Attack (Fort Aspenwood) This skill removes an enchantment, but the skill description does not include this. The enchantment removal happens before the attack hits.
Stormcaller (skill) Pyre Fierceshot's health is not affected by this skill.
Ursan Blessing Although it is classified as a Form, the caster does not change appearance.
Golem Fire Shield This skill does not not affect pets, spirits or Asura summons.
Heal Area Even though this skill has the same description as Karei's Healing Circle, they have different concise descriptions.
Karei's Healing Circle Even though this has the exact same description as Heal Area, this has a different concise description.
Judge's Intervention Unlike most other monk spells, Judge's Intervention does not invoke an animation upon the target.
Create Light of Seborhin Although not mentioned, this skill is easily interruptible.
Vampiric Swarm The hits of this spell don't have an animation, unlike Deathly Swarm.
Arcane Mimicry No effect if target's elite skill is Junundu Siege.
Rollerbeetle Racing Characters on an account that does not have Guild Wars Factions can participate in Rollerbeetle Racing; however, those same characters cannot participate in Dragon Arena (i.e. they cannot enter the Dragon Arena outpost). If you resign or leave your team, which consists of only you, you gain dishonorable points.
Malign Intervention Cannot be used on non-fleshy targets.
Allegiance skill When you try to equip both a Kurzick and a Luxon allegiance skill, the message informs you of having more than 3 PvE-only skills. When your character does not have a secondary profession, all allegiance skills appear in your [K] window, allowing you to equip up to 3 allegiance skills from any profession. However, skill templates of such bars cannot be loaded after saving and do not result in viable links if sent to the chat window.
Dwarven Stability If recast before the duration ends, Dwarven Stability will end before being reapplied, triggering Meditation and other relevant skills. This skill has no aftercast delay.
Shelter (PvP) While skill descriptions state "attacks", damage from spells and signets is also reduced.
Distracting Strike Unlike Distracting Blow, Distracting Strike deals a damage packet of zero rather than no damage.
Chaotic Energy Even though the description does not state, this skill also knocks down foes.
Life This skill will create a spirit with an offensive appearance.
Ram Although not noted in the skill description, it will also boost the beetle's speed to the maximum.
Strike as One Strike as One's description omits the fact that it has a limited duration of 30 seconds. The French description of the skill mention an "enemy target" for the shadow step despite the fact that the skill can target either foe or friend
Feral Aggression Cannot be used while activating another skill.
Painful Bond The concise description incorrectly states that spirits do more damage; it is the hex causing the damage and spirits that do not deal damage with its attacks (i.e. Bloodsong, Vampirism, and Wanderlust) do not technically deal more damage.
Armor of Unfeeling This skill reduces the health loss of Shelter and Earthbind, but not that of Wanderlust or Agony.
Comfort Animal If this skill is cast at the exact moment of your pet's death, the pet will be resurrected without any of your skills being disabled. Using this skill without a pet will still use the energy and return the message "Your pet is out of range." This skill bypasses the effects of Frozen Soil
Wandering Eye Skills which prevent interruptions will trigger when hexed with Wandering Eye but will not prevent their target from being interrupted nor from taking damage Miniatures seem to trigger the damage animation of this spell.
Shadowsong (Master Riyo) Despite not being included in the skill description, this Spirit deals 5...17...20 damage. See Shadowsong (attack).
Air of Disenchantment If an enchantment duration is reduced below 1 second, it behaves as if it was not applied.
Conflagration This spirit also causes Bone Fiend attacks and spear attacks to strike with fire damage. Unlike Winter, this skill requires the attacker to be inside the spirit area of effect.
Ghostmirror Light While most healing spells can't target a spirit, this one can. Though the spirit receives no healing from it, the user does.
Healing Signet The armor penalty from this skill is applied after the armor cap and the effects of Cracked Armor and armor penetration.
Signet of Capture The skill trainers in Lion's Arch, Camp Rankor, Vasburg Armory, and Ascalon Settlement in North Kryta Province do not sell this skill. Tyrian (Prophecies) characters can purchase a Signet of Capture in Lion's Arch from Magi Malaquire. Signet of Capture's actual range is larger than earshot.
"It's Just a Flesh Wound." If a condition is removed, Leadership is triggered again due to the conditional effect counting as a separate shout.
Empathy Empathy triggers on failed attack skills, whereas Vigorous Spirit does not.
Winter Winter converts damage after Conjure spells check for damage types. Unlike Greater Conflagration or Conflagration this skill requires either the attacker or the damage receiver to be inside the spirit area of effect.
Invoke Lightning Invoke Lightning's animation shows strikes on all possible targets, not just the three that are actually hit.
Glyph of Elemental Power This skill actually behaves identically to Glyph of Energy, in that your elemental attributes are boosted for all purposes while under the effects of this glyph.
  • Non-spell skills (e.g. Lightning Touch) will take advantage of the bonus and will not count as a use of the glyph.
  • Any elemental attribute raised to at least 9 will trigger the bonus armor from Prismatic Insignia.
Lightbringer's Gaze The holy damage from this skill is reduced by armor. The animation for this skill is the same as a signet. The additional foes are not interrupted.
Wallow's Bite Although essentially identical to Touch of Agony, Wallow's Bite isn't stated to deal shadow damage.
Giant Stomp Giant Stomp does not act as an attack, despite its classification: the damage cannot be blocked and doesn't trigger skills like Empathy. Although it is interruptable with Signet of Clumsiness, Clumsiness, or Wandering Eye Contrary to the descriptions, Giant Stomp damages and knocks down all creatures (including the user if their Stun Immunity has been negated) within earshot of the user, whether ally, foe or passive charmable animal.
Spear of Light Unlike Smite, this spell deals the additional damage on an attacking foe in a separate packet.
Protector's Defense The user is affected. Although it has no activation time, it acts like it has one (gets queued, pauses the user, cannot be used while knocked down, etc).
Arcane Echo Arcane Echo's description omits the fact that it cannot copy itself.
Needling Shot The regular description is incorrect in that the target does not have to be hit for the skill to recharge.
Courageous Was Saidra This skill affects all allies, although the description only mentions party members.
Dolyak Signet Even though it has no activation time, this signet (similar to Signet of Suffering) cannot be used while knocked down or performing an action.
Shield of Judgment The concise description states that foes attacking target ally will be knocked down and suffer damage; however, this effect only occurs when the target ally is successfully hit.
Gaze of Fury Can be used on any target, not just spirits; can also be cast without a target. If the target is not an enemy spirit, it will destroy the spirit closest to the target. If cast without a target, it will destroy the spirit closest to the caster.
Gaze of Fury (PvP) Can be used on any target, not just allied spirits; can also be cast without a target. If the target is not an allied spirit, it will destroy the allied spirit closest to the target. If cast without a target, it will destroy the allied spirit closest to the caster.
Bundle While carrying a bundle and moving, switching to a different item set will not halt movement but switching to the current weapon set or pressing the Drop Item button will.
Vile Miasma Unlike regular degeneration hexes, Vile Miasma causes a health bar to turn green such as poison or disease, or pink if used from bleeding.
Siege Devourer When you board a Siege Devourer, your skills are replaced with a set for controlling it. However, if you learn a new skill while riding it, such as from a reward from a quest, you can immediately add that to the skill bar and use it while on the devourer.
Empathy (PvP) Unlike Vigorous Spirit, Empathy triggers on failed attack skills.
Enemies Must Die! This skill's name is missing quotation marks which most shouts have.
Vial of Purified Water The Vial of Purified Water is a projectile spell. This skill also has the ability to inflict 50 armor-ignoring damage and can interrupt spells, so it can be used against the Margonites in the mission.
Junundu Feast Junundu Feast is actually replaced for 2 minutes or until you die in the wurm.
Wastrel's Demise If the hex is reapplied before it ends, Wastrel's Demise will continue to add up the bonus damage until the first hex would have run out. After that, the bonus damage cycle will start over. Unlike most area damage over time skills, Wastrel's Demise does not cause AI to scatter.
Carrier Defense While the skill description says it teleports foes, it actually shadow steps them. Also causes knock down.
Soul Torture This skill appears to be easily interruptible.
Life (PvP) This skill will create a spirit with an offensive appearance.
Empathic Removal Unlike other healing skills, this spell can target spirits to remove burning. However, Empathic Removal will not heal the spirits.
"Watch Yourself!" (PvP) Instead of ending on attacks as stated, it ends after an ally takes armor-respecting damage 1...3...3 times.
Greater Conflagration Unlike Winter this skill requires the attacker to be inside the spirit area of effect.
A pool of water. In any non-English translation, this skill is named "Vulnerable". In any non-English translation, description text is similar to: "Skill. For 2 seconds this creature cannot use skills and take 500% more damage from attacks."
Spirit Roar The concise description is correct, however the non-concise description states that players should be hit an extra 25 holy damage if they have an enchantment, with no difference on how many there are; this is not the case.
Volfen Claw The damage is not armor-ignoring.
Ultra Snowball This skill doesn't have an aftercast delay.
Yellow Snow When used by a Ranger, the skill activation animation is used, instead of a preparation animation.
Sneak Attack When sorting skills by type in the Skills and Attributes Panel, this skill is under its own "Melee Attack" category, while all the other melee attacks are in a separate "Melee Attack" category.
Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support The Assassin doesn't shadow step; it is spawned directly next to the target. The Assassin is counted as a created creature for Spirit's Gift, Explosive Growth, and Boon of Creation. However, it does not count as a summoned creature and is not affected by Spawning Power. Despite this classification, it is not affected by sulfur. The Assassin does not always target the foe targeted by the caster, but instead targets the foe closest to its creation point.
Frigid Armor This skill does not remove existing Burning, unlike other skills that grant immunity to a condition (e.g. Tainted Flesh removes Disease).
Vampirism Contrary to the description, the healing from this skill is gained through life stealing rather than a heal. Therefore, the heal is unaffected by hexes that reduce healing such as Lingering Curse or Defile Flesh, and the spirit will not take damage from healer-punishing hexes such as Scourge Healing or Soul Bind. The distance of healing is much greater than spirit range and it seems that healing covers all the current location.
Spirit Foes are able to discover the current location of spirit creator, who is out of their aggro area but within spirit range, and often run directly to them after spirit dies. Spirits will sometimes lose aggro if they or the one who summoned them aren’t attacked. This usually happens with melee when the spirits kill an enemy and there are no ranged attackers to maintain aggro but can happen other times. The easy solution is to simply attack the enemy to regain aggro and/or move into aggro distance.
Grenth's Balance The concise description omits the fact that your health gain (and your target's health loss) is capped by your maximum health.
Cautery Signet Although the effect extends beyond party range, the AI only considers allies within the expected range.
Seed of Life If two people cast this spell on one target, both will take effect; however, only one enchantment will show on the effects monitor. The heal amount is based on your rank of Divine Favor at the time of each hit rather than at the initial casting, i.e. if your attributes are increased/decreased while the enchantment is in effect, the heal amount will change accordingly.
Angelic Bond Despite the skill descriptions, this skill triggers with health degeneration, health loss, life stealing, and health sacrifice, not just damage.
Destructive Was Glaive When dropped, the chat log notes your dropping the ashes as "You drop a Destructive was Glaive." When most ashes from an item spell are dropped, the chat log notes this as "You drop an Ashes of..." followed by the name of the item spell. Example: "You drop an Ashes of Grasping Kuurong."
Renewing Surge Unlike other hexes that affect the caster, this hex does not end if the caster dies.
Cry of Pain This is the only skill that has health degeneration shown with positive value in the description.
Air of Superiority Unlike other skills without an activation time, this skill has the standard aftercast delay of 0.75¾ second and cannot be used while moving or activating another skill.
Augury of Death Similar to Life Siphon and enchantments with upkeep, if a hexed foe moves out of compass range of the caster, Augury of Death will end.
Vengeance This skill's duration can only be extended by any of Enchanting modifier on the target's weapon. The caster's weapon and buffs like Blessed Aura do not extend the duration.
Signet of Suffering Even though it has no activation time, this signet (similar to Dolyak Signet) cannot be used while knocked down or performing an action.
Death's Retreat Death's Retreat is one of the few spells that do not suffer from aftercast delay.
"Kilroy Stonekin" Unlike other shouts, the range of this skill is closer to spirit range than within earshot.
Tear Gas The descriptions omit that this is a projectile spell.
Fragmentation Grenade The descriptions omit that this is a projectile spell.
Stun Grenade The descriptions omit that this is a projectile spell.
Paranoid Indignation This skill is phrased for the target rather than the user.
Murakai's Storm of Souls Some players have reported that Murakai has used the skill even though the meter was not completely filled.
Migraine Monsters won't cast Migraine on you when at least five of your skills are recharging.
Symbolic Celerity Items that grant a 20% chance of adding +1 to Fast Casting do not affect signets that are cast while this enchantment is active. For example, you cannot use "Master of My Domain" to obtain rank 21 in the table above. Instead, other signets will use the unmodified FC rank.
Signet of Illusions Items that grant a 20% chance of adding +1 to Illusion Magic do not affect spells cast while this signet is active. For example, you cannot use "Master of My Domain" to obtain rank 21 in the table above. Instead, spells will use the unmodified Illusion rank.
Dismiss Condition Unlike most other skills with a healing component, Dismiss Condition can target spirits.
Mental Block Unlike most enchantments, Mental Block does not show a cloudy white ring around the caster.
Resurrection Signet This skill, along with all other skills, recharges when zoning, despite the description text stating it requires a morale boost. When used on an invalid target, this skill incorrectly gives the "Invalid spell target." message rather than the generic "Invalid target." message.
Destruction The non-concise and concise descriptions are identical.
Base Defense The full description omits the fact that this skill targets a foe, and thus fails if the target dies during activation.
Barbed Arrows The armor penalty from this skill is applied after the armor cap and the effects of Cracked Armor and armor penetration.
Shadowy Burden The armor penalty from this skill is applied after the armor cap and the effects of Cracked Armor and Armor Penetration.
Masochism Under rare circumstances, heroes with very low health will use a spell while under the effects of Masochism and accidentally kill themselves.
Earthbind Armor of Unfeeling will reduce the health loss of this spirit caused by its knock down effect.
Star Servant The skill descriptions do not state that the horror will steal 25 health and 3 energy with each attack.
Recall The full description does not state that this skill cannot self-target.
Mistrust Mistrust will take effect if the hexed character attempts to cast a spell on any NPC hostile to them, including other foes. For example, in Varajar Fells, an Ice Imp's Maelstrom will fail if they attempt to cast it on a Modniir Hunter.
Summon Ruby Djinn The description is misleading: you can have one active Asura Summon per player.
Summon Mursaat The description is misleading: you can have one active Asura Summon per player.
Summon Ice Imp The description is misleading: you can have one active Asura Summon per player.
Summon Naga Shaman The description is misleading: you can have one active Asura Summon per player.
Smash of the Titans "Can't Touch This!" does not work against this touch skill.
Extinguish Heroes only use Extinguish on allies within their aggro circle, even though the skill works within compass range.
Foul Feast This Soul Reaping skill uses the Blood Magic casting symbol because it was originally a Blood Magic skill.
Celestial Stance Though it is not listed in the skill description, this skill—like all other celestial skills—has an activation time of 1.
Life Siphon Similar to Augury of Death and enchantments with upkeep, if a hexed foe moves out of compass range of the caster, Life Siphon will end.
Well of the Profane Foes in this well lose all enchantments and cannot be the target of further enchantments; however, untargeted enchantments still work, which includes all flash enchantment spells, and spells like Shadow Refuge. These enchantments don’t get stripped simply by being inside the well, but only each time the well is entered. If one manages to gain an enchantment while inside (i.e. Aegis, Orders, etc.), it is not removed. Source.
Spell Shield The concise description omits that only enemy spells cannot target you.
Sugar Infusion This skill does not have a sacrifice cost. The health is lost upon skill activation, similar to Infuse Health.
Healing Seed This skill seems to also cause miniatures to gain health.
Asuran Scan This hex also prevents the target from blocking your attacks.
Reversal of Death Contrary of what the description says, this skill actually gives a 5% morale boost.
Animate Shambling Horror The descriptions do not mention the duration of the bleeding inflicted by the Jagged Horror.
Jagged Bones The descriptions do not mention the duration of the bleeding inflicted by the Jagged Horror.
Suicide Health Despite the skill description, the user will not need to get hit to trigger the effect, even blindness will not prevent this skill from working.
Doublecast skill * By selecting a foe, you can cast doublecast enchantments on allies using Vow of Silence or standing inside a Well of the Profane.
  • As expected, if you select an ally while casting a doublecast skill, it will trigger Shame, but not Guilt or Mistrust. However, if you instead select a foe, the opposite will happen: it will trigger Guilt and Mistrust, but not Shame.
  • Similarly, you can use doublecast skills while selecting an ally enchanted with Shadow Form. However, if you selected a foe protected by spell targeting prevention, you will end up casting the skill on yourself unless the foe is out of range (in which case, you will be unable to cast at all until you are closer or select a different target).
Test of Faith The full description does not mention that this skill operates at touch-range.
Double Dragon If a foe with a spell targeting prevention skill is targeted, Double Dragon will fail, despite the enchantment applying to the ally nearest to the target foe. Whenever a target under the effects of Double Dragon is interrupted, the animation restarts. Unlike most area damage over time skills, Double Dragon does not cause AI to scatter.
Shockwave The skill description implies that Blind covers Cracked Armor which covers Weakness, while in actuality Blind covers Weakness which covers Cracked Armor.
Life Attunement Similar to Flurry, the damage reduction only applies to the equipped weapon's base damage. It will not reduce damage dealt by skills or effects, not even bonus damage from attack skills.
Battle Scars Similar to Shiro's other skills, the descriptions do not mention that this skill cannot be disabled.
Echoing Banishment Similar to Shiro's other skills, the descriptions do not mention that this skill cannot be disabled.
Impossible Odds Similar to Shiro's other skills, the descriptions do not mention that this skill cannot be disabled.
Meditation of the Reaper Similar to Shiro's other skills, the descriptions do not mention that this skill cannot be disabled.
Riposting Shadows Similar to Shiro's other skills, the descriptions do not mention that this skill cannot be disabled.
Shatterstone The target's death will not trigger the end effect damage on nearby foes.
Hasty Refrain Unlike the descriptions of other Echo skills, this skill's descriptions do not mention that it cannot target spirits.
Words of Madness Although the description refers to a target foe, this skill affects the entire area you fight in.
Restoration This spirit will also resurrect creatures created via summoning stones that were dead and in the area of the spirit.
Signet of Pious Light As long as the user is under the effects of a Dervish enchantment when attempting to activate this skill, Signet of Pious Light will recharge in 5 seconds, regardless of other effects.
Phase Shield (effect) The effect description shows a 10 second recharge regardless of the duration of the actual effect and the recharge of the effect generating this one
Beast Mastery The attribute's in-game description does not mention this effect.
Symbol of Wrath The animation for this spell is displayed on the caster but the effect remains tied to the location at which it was cast
Titans get plus Health regen and set enemies on fire each time he is hit. This skill triggers whenever the titan takes damage, although the name of the skill implies that it triggers when a foe succeeds in hitting the titan.
Low Blow Although no damage type is specified in the skill descriptions, the damage does not ignore armor.
Black Powder Mine This skill deals fire damage that does not ignore armor.
Charm Animal Although technically considered a pet, occasionally a charmed animal will retain the red wording associated with a hostile enemy just after completing the charm animal skill.
Incendiary Bonds Similar to Lightning Strike and Lightning Surge, removing the hex before it ends will negate the end effect, unlike Shatterstone and most other skills with an end effect.
Lightning Strike Similar to Incendiary Bonds and Lightning Surge, removing the hex before it ends will negate the end effect, unlike Shatterstone and most other skills with an end effect. Despite the ambiguity of the concise description, the end effect damage also has 25% armor penetration.
Energizing Chorus Because this chant reduces cost at the beginning of skill activation and doesn't end until activation is completed, using a shout in the middle of a chant's activation will allow both skills to benefit from this chant.
Call to the Torment Creatures summoned by this skill are not treated as summoned creatures by other skills, such as Banish.
Scourge Healing This hex does not trigger for Heal Area, Karei's Healing Circle, and Healing Ring.
Glyph of Sacrifice Despite the descriptions saying that the next spell casts instantly, a better description would be very quickly, as the activation time of the spell cast through it is a 1/4 second and there's still a slight chance it might be interrupted.
Leave Junundu This skill actually takes significantly longer to activate than its listed 0.25¼ second activation time. The progress bar will fill up in the listed quarter second activation time; however, it will flash on the activation bar for several seconds as the Junundu spits out the player. It is not possible to cancel or skip this animation.
Juggernaut Toss This skill has the undocumented effect of bypassing knock down immunity.
Celestial skill Celestial skills' descriptions omit that they can only be recharged when gaining a Morale Boost.
Rollerbeetle Racer Rollerbeetle Racer skill descriptions omit how the skills are recharged.
Teinai's Wind Unlike all other Elementalist skills that deal both damage and additional damage (except Blinding Surge and Sandstorm), this skill's additional damage is not dealt in a separate packet.
Sandstorm Unlike all other Elementalist skills that deal both damage and additional damage (except Blinding Surge and Teinai's Wind), this skill's additional damage is not dealt in a separate packet.
Blinding Surge Unlike all other Elementalist skills that deal both damage and additional damage (except Sandstorm and Teinai's Wind), this skill's additional damage is not dealt in a separate packet.
Panic Also interrupts passive charmable animals when they are near a foe hexed with Panic.
"Make Your Time!" This skill does not trigger any energy gain from Leadership, even for affecting the skill user.
Mirrored Stance If the copied stance has an initial effect, the initial effect will not affect you. I.e. Bestial Fury/Tiger's Fury, Deadly Paradox, and Shadow Walk will not disable your skills; Shadow Walk will also not cause you to shadow step to a foe.
Chimera of Intensity The energy cost reduction affects all skills, not just spells.
Reversal of Fortune Contrary to the full description, this skill causes healing and not health gain.
Life Sheath Contrary to the full description, this skill causes healing and not health gain.
Rocky Ground Junundu Tunnel is not removed when walking on rocky ground, allowing players to benefit from the 66% speed boost for a moment.
Ward of Weakness The weakness duration is independent of duration modifiers such as the Heavy weapon upgrade.
Mind Burn This skill checks the energy condition independently for each target hit.
Vow of Piety
Displacement There is a delay of 2-3 seconds from the spirit's creation to its effect being applied, unlike other skills.
Unyielding Aura The tiny delay between the target being teleported to the casters location and being resurrected is long enough for an AI to possibly use "We Shall Return!", which takes place before UA's resurrecting effect.
Grapple This skill has no aftercast delay, though this can only be observed if the self knockdown is prevented.
Offering of Spirit (Togo) There is no separate version of Offering of Spirit. Instead, the actual skill is used during the mission.
Spirit Bond Despite causing healing, triggering the healing from the skill does not cause Scourge Healing or Soul Bind to inflict damage.
Dark Aura Does not cause charmable animals to turn hostile.
Arcane Conundrum Unlike other hexes that affect the caster, this one doesn't end if the caster dies.
Flurry of Ice The descriptions omit the fact that a snowball is also thrown at the target, allowing a maximum of 5 snowballs per activation.
Gunther's Gaze Affected minions turn dark, much like exploited corpses. Whether or not it exploits Flesh Golem corpses is unknown.
Signet of Binding Spirits taken control of with this skill ignore the restriction of having multiple allied spirits of the same name within range of each other. The restriction will however be correctly applied should the spirit be teleported via Draw Spirit, Swap or Summon Spirits, preserving only the most recent spirit.
Ritual Lord Ritual Lord will only increase the skill progression of a skill, and not inherent effects from Spawning Power.
"Watch Yourself!" Instead of ending on attacks as stated, it ends after an ally takes armor-respecting damage 10 times.
Guilt Contrary to the concise description, Guilt will take effect if the hexed character attempts to cast a spell on any NPC hostile to them, including other foes. For example, in Varajar Fells, an Ice Imp's Maelstrom will fail if they attempt to cast it on a Modniir Hunter.
Withering Aura Unlike Grenth's Aura, switching to a melee weapon before a weapon projectile hits does not trigger this skill.
Mend Body and Soul While most other ally targeted Restoration Magic spells cast a unique visual effect on the target, Mend Body and Soul places a unique visual effect on the caster instead.
Clumsiness Skills which prevent interruptions will trigger when hexed with Clumsiness but will not prevent their target from being interrupted nor from taking damage
Wandering Eye (PvP) Skills which prevent interruptions will trigger when hexed with Wandering Eye but will not prevent their target from being interrupted nor from taking damage
Cultist's Fervor Causes bleeding when non-fleshy creatures, such as Shadow Vaettirs, cast Necromancer spells.
Oppressive Gaze The concise description describes the damage as typeless instead of shadow damage. This is mostly irrelevant in game as both are functionally identical armor-ignoring damage.
"Together as One!" The description omits to mention that all pets in the party are affected as well. The concise description omits that the additional damage only applies to attacks.
Pious Assault As long as the user is under the effects of a Dervish enchantment when attempting to activate this skill, Pious Assault will recharge in 3 seconds, regardless of other effects (such as Diversion or Shield Bash).
Wounding Strike Despite the full description, a Dervish enchantment is removed even if this attack fails to hit.
Twin Moon Sweep The concise description incorrectly states the target is attacked twice, instead of hit twice.
Soul Taker The health sacrifice does not appear on the damage monitor.
Mending Grip This skill does not have a casting symbol.
Flesh of My Flesh This skill does not have a casting symbol.
Energy Boon Changing your maximum energy lower than what it was when this was cast on you, will lower your health bonus accordingly to your new energy, however swapping back to higher energy will not bring it back up and it will remain at the lower amount, even if recast on you at higher energy before its duration ends.
Triple Chop The concise description incorrectly implies a single attack hitting multiple targets.
Godspeed This skill doesn't have punctuation in its name like other shouts, even though the character still shouts it with the punctuation.
Crystal Snare This skill is phrased for the target rather than the user.
Spear Swipe Contrary to what the concise description suggests, this is not a melee attack, but a spear attack with touch range. Skills such as Strength of Honor will not trigger.
Rending Touch The cold damage dealt by this skill is armor-ignoring.
Return This spell does not have an aftercast delay.
Heart of Shadow This spell does not have an aftercast delay.
Recovery Rather than conditions expiring at a faster rate, their duration is reduced by the stated percentage.
Viper's Defense This spell does not have an aftercast delay.
Dulled Weapon This hex only reduces damage from attacks.
"Save Yourselves!" The skill descriptions omit that only party members within earshot are affected.
Verata's Gaze This skill has no aftercast delay.
Blizzard The concise description of this spell does not include its duration.
"Go for the Eyes!" Contrary to what the description suggests, this skill triggers on hit rather than on attack. For instance, if Cyclone Axe hits several foes, only one of them has increased chance to be critically hit.
Golden Skull Strike The concise description fails to mention that only daze will not have effect if not enchanted (the attack will not fail).
Touch skill Contrary to what the concise description suggests, Spear Swipe is not a melee attack, but a spear attack with touch range. Skills such as Strength of Honor will not trigger.
Spirit Transfer Can be cast while targeting a spirit, in which case the spirit will lose health and no one will be healed.
"Retreat!" Only the dead ally needs to be within earshot. The buff will apply to all party members within compass range.
"Never Surrender!" This skill will affect summoned creatures, like spirits or minions, if used by a summoned ally, such as the Imperial Guard Captain

.

Blinding Flash This skill can be used on a spirit but it will not inflict blindness.
Displacement (PvP) There is a delay of 2-3 seconds from the spirit's creation to its effect being applied, unlike other skills.
Glimmering Mark Unlike most area damage over time skills, Glimmering Mark does not cause AI to scatter.
Ebon Battle Standard of Honor Attack skills that deal entirely armor-ignoring damage, such as Banishing Strike, are still increased.
Soldier's Defense Adrenaline will be gained even for attacks blocked by another blocking source (regardless of whether the user is under the effects of a shout or chant).
Hex Eater Signet The AoE effect is centered around the caster, not the touched target.
Distracting Blow The concise description is incorrect: the adjacent foes are interrupted but not attacked. Notably, you won't gain adrenaline from them, and Illusionary Weaponry will not damage them (unless wielding a scythe).

Other[edit]

Page Anomaly description
Scorpion Aspect It has been observed that the longer one stays under this effect, the shorter the duration before the next teleport.
Charr Flame Keeper Form The form's name does not match the name of the NPC it refers to.
Shiverpeak Arena This is the only non-priest Annihilation arena to give a twelve minute time limit instead of eight.
The Crag After the September 27th, 2007 update this is the only arena which is not forced to resolution in case of a tie.
Kournan Guardsman Devona will use the male model instead of the female model.
Elemental Hunt In hard mode the bounty description says "for each elemental boss slain " instead of "for each elemental slain" This bounty is available in The Floodplain of Mahnkelon despite the fact that elementals only spawn in that zone during the primary quest To Kill a Demon.
Skill Hunter To complete the Elonian Skill Hunter title, you must own Factions, in order to capture that campaign's ritualist and assassin skills.
Ancient Tome of Knowledge This item only allows the carrier of the item to complete the quest. Other characters in the party will have to repeat the quest after leaving the area.
The Ancestral Lands (cinematic) The cinematic uses a numeral 3, but writes out 'two'.
Ebon Vanguard Assassin Its Critical Strikes energy gain will sometimes appear on the display.
Xunlai Chest In the Gate of Torment outpost it is known as Storage Chest [Storage]
Equipment Pack The packs will accept dye, but unlike other containers, the color of their icons will not change. The inventory slots in an Equipment Pack do not appear as part of the All Bags "F9" panel. Instead, when the All Bags panel is displayed, the Inventory panel shows the Equipment Pack's slots. Trading an item from an Equipment Pack sometimes fails when the items you are receiving in return cannot be placed in an Equipment Pack, even if there is room elsewhere in your inventory (e.g. trading an ecto from a bag for a sword in the pack). Both traders receive the same message, "The trading session has been canceled".
Divine Aura Does not show during drunken emotes, fame emotes, CE dances, Aion wings, while under the effects of a tonic, or while disguised during Costume Brawl
Trade Items placed in the Trade Window will have a small white outline in your inventory. When the trade is finalized, the white outline will still be on the inventory slot(s) of the items traded until the inventory window is closed and reopened or filled with another item.
Historical Monument of King's Watch Despite the existence of pre-Searing signposts referring to King's Watch, and despite being self-described as "Founded: Season of the Phoenix, 1 A.E", the Historical Monument of King's Watch is not to be found in pre-Searing Ascalon.
Character selection screen The April 23rd, 2009 update caused characters to initially appear incorrectly on the character selection screen due to changes in how character appearance data is stored. Logging in with a specific character at any time after the update will cause that character to display correctly on the character selection screen afterward. This was also noted in a login screen announcement.
Guide to meeting Gwen For this to work properly, your character must not have exited Ascalon as a member of a party with another character who has already completed the Gwen's Flute quest, or has given her the flute or the cape. If so, she will already have the items, and will still have the items even if you meet her solo thereafter.
Breadcrumb If a player is disconnected during gameplay, the breadcrumbs are lost and will not be recovered if the player reconnects.
Bounty Lightbringer Bounty is not available after having achieved Lightbringer rank 1 until you talk to the Seeker of Whispers in Chantry of Secrets. The bounty NPCs will only tell you to go to the Seeker of Whispers and not give the bounty option.
Celestial Monkey (summon) The Celestial Monkey uses spear attacks, yet it appears to use the wand attack animation.
Dusty Urn If the quest isn't completed, the Dusty Urn will also appear even if the quest is not active.
Spirit of Life Despite the fact that this spirit is passive - it uses no skills and cannot attack - it uses the same model as aggressive binding spirits
Dwayna Costume Like bags once did, costumes are created unidentified, but there is no change when an identification kit is used on them.
Knock down When used on a foe during casting, they often keep casting for 1-2 seconds more, or until the cast finishes; then it spontaneously fails. This doesn't affect gameplay. Shadow stepping while knocked down effectively removes the knocked down state, but adds a delay on the effects of skills activated afterwards until their animations "catches up" (in a manner similar to activating skills after resurrection).
Rock Ice Rock Ices have Natural Resistance, similar to bosses.
Dragon Festival 2010 There were a number of oddities during and after the last finale:
  • Festival decorations were removed from outposts, although the finale had not yet finished.
  • Players on the Shing Jea Boardwalk were transported back into the monastery.
  • Players in some districts were transferred to another district.
  • Although the boardwalk decorations were removed after the finale, the boardwalk NPCs remained and the minigames were still playable, even though the rings for Nine Rings and Rings of Fortune could not be seen.
  • The Dragon Festival quests were reset at this time: any of those quests that were still in the quest log were removed and Imperial Guard Hanso was offering The Rampaging Yetis, even to characters that completed it already; however, once that character accepts that quest and exits the current district, it is removed from the quest log.
Jar of Invigoration Even though they are supposed to spawn at random locations, there are some places where it will always spawn.
Guild Hall (cinematics) The guild halls added with Guild Wars Factions and Nightfall do not have cinematics.
Shadow step On rare occasions, an NPC attacking an assassin has moved with the assassin when shadow stepping away occurred with the attack. For example, this could cause a juggernaut in Jade Quarry to land upstairs on a portal. Shadow stepping while knocked down effectively removes the knocked down state, but adds a delay on the effects of skills activated afterwards until their animations "catches up" (in a manner similar to activating skills after resurrection).
Vanquisher There is at least one area in which the kill counter might not properly reflect progress under some narrow conditions. For details, see the Wajjun Bazaar article.
Chest (Lakeside County) This chest will not show up occasionally, even with the quest active.
Halloween/Finale The /dancenew emote will not count as the /dance emote when requested by Mad King Thorn. In 2009, Mad King Thorn always called players participating in the finale Elonians, even if the finale is taking place in Lion's Arch.
Line of sight Sometimes stray appears when the target appears to have dodged.
Dryder Dryders wield a staff in their right hand, but they use their left hand to attack.
Raiment of the Lich While a character is wearing this costume, its appearance in the character selection screen may or may not reflect this. While wearing the costume, the footprints' impression left is still that of a boot, not the hoof-marks that would be expected.
Lunatic Court Finery While a character is wearing this costume, its appearance in the character selection screen may or may not reflect this.
Halloween 2010 During the finale, Mad King Thorn spoke in All Chat; in previous years, he had always spoken in Team Chat. In 2009, all festival quests remained in the quest log and one (The Waiting Game) could be completed year-round; but in 2010, all were removed including ones from other special events.
Empathy (Koro) The name implies Koro Sagewind should use this skill; however, she does not use this skill at all.
Blessing of the Kurzicks Kurzick Priests in the area will offer you the blessing again and take 100Gold from you, even though you gain no benefit from this. While under both blessings, as the experience gained from foe death is displayed, the related faction data is sometimes layered rather than side-by-side, i.e. the experience gained appears on top of the Kurzick and Luxon faction earned.
Blessing of the Luxons Luxon Priests in the area will offer you the blessing again and take 100Gold from you, even though you gain no benefit from this. While under both blessings, as the experience gained from foe death is displayed, the related faction data is sometimes layered rather than side-by-side, i.e. the experience gained appears on top of the Kurzick and Luxon faction earned.
Vault box When you add an additional pane to your account, the Anniversary Storage pane will visually move one tab to the right. Any items stored in the Anniversary Storage pane will not move with it and will instead be found in the new pane you added. Armor in storage will always appear to be for the gender of the current viewer — not for the gender of the character the equipment was customized for.
Barbed Signet (PvP) * Even though it has no activation time, this signet (similar to Dolyak Signet) cannot be used while knocked down or performing an action.
Armor Armor inventory icons depend on the viewing character's gender, not the gender of the character to which they are customized.
Trapped Voice Despite being interactive objects, Trapped Voices show up on radar as NPCs.
Wintersday 2010 The official website announced a start time of noon and the login screen announcement stated a start time of 2 PM PST; the actual start time was earlier in the day. Similarly, the end date announcements were inconsistent; the event did not end until January 4, 2010 (Pacific Time).
"Honor" If a character on your account has a title, other characters on your account must enter their character-specific display to add it too.
Loose Magic Loose Magic only prevents skills with an activation time from being used from the skill bar; stances and tonics can still be used, although they will end immediately. Skills with the type skill and zero activation time can be successfully activated under this effect; shouts remain unaffected as well.
Chest Chests spawn in some missions, but not others. For example, they do not spawn at all in Nightfall Cooperative Missions. They also will not spawn in areas that require an active quest to enter, e.g. a mini-mission.
Key Chests do not spawn in Nightfall Cooperative Missions or Riverside Province. Forbidden Keys also drop from the Assassin's and Ritualist's Construct regardless of where they spawn.
Nong Berry Bush During the Canthan New Year, if the two quests listed above have not yet been completed, two Nong Berry Bushes appear in the same location in Kinya Province. It is necessary to collect the Nong Berries from the correct bush for the quest being completed.
Canthan New Year/Finale If your inventory is full when giving an ingredient to a chef, he will take the ingredient, but you will not receive a Lunar Token. If you are in the boardwalk during the finale you may see the entire finale dialogue when you return to the monastery proper after the event is complete. The dialogue might also loop several times in a row at random times when you're still in the boardwalk.
Going Commando While under the effects of this disguise, when zoomed in to first person view, your weapons can be seen floating in the air. This may have been intentional, as it gives the appearance of a first person shooter.
Lava The lava in The Fissure of Woe does not inflict conditions on those that walk in it. During A Time for Heroes, the lava causes burning, but not crippling.
Health degeneration The descriptions of the majority of skills causing health degeneration use the double negative phrasing of –[n] health degeneration rather than the more technically correct, –[n] health regeneration.
Minion Critical hits do not cause minions to hit for maximum damage. They do however get the bonus damage factor (1.414...), see Critical_hit#Damage. The minion control limit is only checked when a new minion is acquired. Though Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support does not count towards the minion cap, summoning one will cause the game to check the players minion control limit. A minion will regain full health and stop degenerating health for a couple of seconds if it is forced masterless. This may be a visual bug, as the minions die before their health reaches 0 after this occurs. Minions who are enchanted before being turned masterless will keep their enchantments but the effects of the enchantment vary depending on the skill itself (example: Jagged Bones will not spawn another minion, however, Vigorous Spirit will heal the minion every time it auto-attacks). Minions who are hexed and become allied will keep their hexes and trigger the hex effects. Shouts will also trigger on them after turning hostile, such as "Brace Yourself!", as well as Skills such as Angelic Bond.
Armor penetration Armor Penetration does not simply subtract the listed percentage of armor, sometimes it subtracts slightly more. The exact mechanics are unknown.
Charr Flamecaller Form The form's name does not match the name of the NPC it refers to.
Hearts of the North Although Thackeray goes missing at the end of the War in Kryta, he can still appear as one of the random allies in Kryta locations whenever a Shining Blade Bounty is active.
The Elixir of Strength This effect does not affect spirits.
Inherent modifier An extremely small number of weapons in circulation carry an inherent mod and an inscription slot. Currently, all known exploits or game bugs that produced them have been resolved.
Urn of Saint Viktor (skill) While holding the bundle, the character's heroes will also have this spell appear in their effects monitors.
PvP reward The skins of bonus weapons, even by a PvE character, can be changed via the PvP reward dialogue. Buying a PvP reward weapon will reset your camera to original height if it has been raised or lowered due to a tonic effect.
Aegis of Unity Unlike other costume masks, this one cannot be dyed.
Hunt Rampage This doubles reputation points from all sources, not just kills:
Heavy Despite the in-game description, this upgrade will also increase the duration of any self-inflicted Weakness (i.e. from Wearying Spear).
Barbed Despite the in-game description, this upgrade will also increase the duration of any self-inflicted Bleeding (i.e. from Signet of Agony).
Crippling Despite the in-game description, this upgrade will also increase the duration of any self-inflicted Cripple (i.e. from Illusion of Haste).
Poisonous Despite the in-game description, this upgrade will also increase the duration of any self-inflicted Poison (i.e. from Chilblains).
Silencing Despite the in-game description, this upgrade will also increase the duration of any self-inflicted daze (i.e. from Headbutt).
Cruel Despite the in-game description, this upgrade will also increase the duration of any self-inflicted Deep Wound (e.g. from Draw Conditions).
The Great Snowball Fight of the Gods (PvP) Unlike standard PvP matches, you cannot report other players for leeching during the fight.
Enchanted weapon Although the NPCs are not fleshy, they are affected by bleeding.
Keep Yourself Alive Direct healing of foes is also decreased, e.g. through Healing Ring.
Mercenary Hero In the inventory window, Mercenary armor will vary in color from the original character's armor. However, it will display as expected in explorable areas.
Spectral Essence The model of this bundle when it is on the ground hovers above the ground instead being directly touching it like other bundles.
Brawling The descriptions for these skills state that they deal direct damage, while in fact they add the stated damage.
Acid Trap The descriptions do not state that the damage is armor-ignoring earth damage.
Guild leader Some times it takes longer than 60 days for the automatic demotion of a guild leader. In some cases it may take up to 74 days.
Chain Combo The use of both max and maximum in the descriptions is inconsistent with other descriptions, which normally use one or the other, e.g. Energy Boon and Eternal Aura.
"Valor" Unlike the other monuments, Valor is affected by the Spirit of Life.
Fireball (obelisk) The Fireballs' damage is treated as coming from the target they strike. This can interact strangely with certain skills; for instance, if a Fireball strikes a target enchanted with Reversal of Damage, that target will take no damage from the Fireball, but will deal himself the appropriate amount of damage from Reversal of Damage.
"Fellowship" Keiran Thackeray cannot be added to this monument, due to technical reasons.[2] Miku and Zei Ri also cannot be added to this monument.
Identification Identifying certain items with no merchant value (i.e. Backpacks, miniatures, storybooks, and weapons, such as Serrated Shield) has no effect besides consuming one use of a kit.
Treasure Sometimes opening treasure yields a single gold rarity item but no gold.
Dragon Arena Unlike Rollerbeetle Racing, characters on an account that does not have Guild Wars Factions cannot participate in Dragon Arena (i.e. they cannot enter the Dragon Arena outpost).
There Can Be Only One While a character deals +30% damage to all foes of the same primary profession, a character regains all health and energy and receive a 5% Morale Boost only when killing an opposing party member of the same primary profession (i.e. excludes non-party member allies, such as an animal companion, minion or spirit), which is similar in function to Bounty Hunter.
Halloween From 2014 onward, from the end of the event on November 2 until 20:00 UTC on November 8:
  • Transformed Krytans and Elonians continue to only appear in America district 1 of Lion's Arch and Kamadan, respectively
  • Horseman collectors continue to only appear in America district 1 of Lion's Arch, Henge of Denravi, Ascalon City and Kamadan.
  • Mad King's Guards continue to only appear (and can be added as henchmen by selecting them or selecting their name(s) in Party Search panel) in America district 1 of Lion's Arch and Kamadan; however, a number of them will begin appearing in other territories and/or districts if they are added to a party and then that party map travels to a territory and/or district where Mad King's Guards no longer appear.
    • E.g. Mad King's Guards will not appear in America district 2 nor International district 1 of Lion's Arch and Kamadan unless one or more Mad King's Guards are added to a party in America district 1 of Lion's Arch or Kamadan and then that party map travels to America district 2 or International district 1 of Lion's Arch or Kamadan. The number of Mad King's Guards that will begin appearing in America district 2 or International district 1 of Lion's Arch or Kamadan is dependent on the number of Mad King's Guards in the party (e.g. map traveling to Kamadan International district 1 from Lion's Arch America district 1 with two Mad King's Guards in the party will cause two Mad King's Guards to begin appearing in Kamadan International district 1).
Drake (pet) Unlike other animal companions of foes, the Vanquisher counter does not increase by one when a Drake dies. This is consistent with summoned creatures; however, skills such as Banish do not consider Drakes to be summoned creatures.
Sapphire Guarded Chest of Ahdashim When trying to open the chest without the corresponding key, the error message will state "The chest is locked. You must have the correct key or a lockpick." as if opening a regular chest, despite lockpicks not being able to open this chest.
Diamond Guarded Chest of Ahdashim When trying to open the chest without the corresponding key, the error message will state "The chest is locked. You must have the correct key or a lockpick." as if opening a regular chest, despite lockpicks not being able to open this chest.
Ruby Guarded Chest of Ahdashim When trying to open the chest without the corresponding key, the error message will state "The chest is locked. You must have the correct key or a lockpick." as if opening a regular chest, despite lockpicks not being able to open this chest.
Isle of Wurms This guild hall uses the Kryta loading screen.
Isle of Meditation This guild hall uses the Kryta loading screen.
Warrior's Isle This guild hall uses the Kryta loading screen.
Wizard's Isle This guild hall uses the Kryta loading screen.
Isle of the Dead This guild hall uses the Ring of Fire Islands loading screen.
Gate of Pain (cinematic) Dunkoro might show up twice.
Dasha Vestibule (cinematic) Goren might show up twice in the cinematic
Salvage When an item of blue, purple, or gold rarity without salvageable components is being salvaged with an expert or superior salvage kit, the salvage component selection window also appears, despite the lack of choice when salvaging.
Obsidian Flame (guild) Generic members use the same model and textures as Am Fah Assassins; thus they have the Am Fah guild emblem on their capes, despite supposedly despising them.
Heal Several skill descriptions, such as those of Healing Burst, Mantra of Signets and Mantra of Signets (PvP) use the wording "health gain", but actually cause healing. The amount of health gained is therefore affected by modifiers.
Drop Occasionally players may observe a drop animation for a drop assigned to heroes, henchmen, or other NPCs. These drops do not appear as a bundle on the map and cannot be picked up nor highlighted.
Camera Sometimes, if you try to move your character backward pressing the corresponding key ("S" by default) when they are attacked by a foe, the camera may unexpectedly turn in the opposite direction, i.e. away from the foe. As a result, you need to run forward to continue.
Guild Wars Core The April 22, 2020 update added ten elite skills to the game, one for each profession. They are all classified as Core skills, despite not being limited to only the six Core professions, nor are they available in all of the individual Guild Wars installments.
Bonus item Items created through the use of the /bonus command are considered PvP items by Tolkano and can be changed accordingly.
Kraken Other than Zhu Hanuku, krakens use the same model and skin as Phantoms, a similar appearance to Charged Blacknesses and Grasping Darknesses, despite no notable relation. Similarly, krakens are considered fleshy despite their transparent visuals.
Area of effect Aftershock, Dragon's Stomp, Earthquake, Flame Burst, Frozen Burst, Gust, Healing Ribbon, Incendiary Bonds, Liquid Flame, Phoenix, Rodgort's Invocation, Shatterstone, Stone Sheath, Winds of Disenchantment, and Whirlwind have a slightly smaller radius of 240 gwinches. Some shouts have a slightly smaller radius of 1000 gwinches. Cautery Signet and Mystic Healing have an unlimited range, affecting even party members outside of party area.
A Formal Introduction (cinematic) Because this cinematic plays from within the map used for Minister Cho's Estate (explorable area) (and outpost), you can see the end of the world throughout most of the cinematic. The same location inside Sunqua Vale shows a very different scene.
All's Well That Ends Well (cinematic) This cinematic will only play if your character goes near the Resplendent Makuun portal in Bokka Amphitheatre after killing the five actors. This cinematic will not play if you resign or map travel out of Bokka Amphitheatre after killing the five actors.
Blessed Water Unlike other sources of increased enchantment durations, this environmental effect will not round the duration of Patient Spirit to 3 seconds.
Critical hit Critical hits do not cause Animal companions and minions to hit for maximum damage, but they do get the same bonus factor (1.414...).
Healing Spring (object) Unlike the healing waters of the Maguuma jungle or the Statue of Melandru due north, the Healing Spring in Regent Valley doesn't actually possess healing properties in-game, only in the lore.

Notes on general skill behavior[edit]

  • If one skill would cause an effect and another skill would prevent that effect, the prevention effect takes precedence.
  • Skill effects that take place every second or every X seconds always take place at the end of each interval. For example Symbol of Wrath damages foes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 seconds after activation, while Meteor Shower knocks down and damages foes 3, 6, and 9 seconds after activation.
  • A character may only be under the effect of one Weapon Spell, one Stance, one Preparation and one Glyph at a time. If a new Weapon Spell, Stance, Preparation or Glyph is applied, it overwrites the old one.
  • A character does not need to equip a weapon to benefit from a Weapon Spell.
  • Whenever a Nature Ritual is successfully completed, if there are any spirits of the same type within range, they will be killed.
  • Whenever a Binding Ritual is successfully completed, if there are any allied spirits of the same type within range, they will be killed.
  • Pet Attacks work by applying a buff to your pet, which is triggered by the pet's next attack and then ends. A pet can only have one Pet Attack buff at a time, a new buff will overwrite the old one. They will trigger effects dependent on activating attack skills, such as Anthem of Fury or Zealous Anthem, but because neither the ranger nor the pet is directly attacking with an attack skill, they will not trigger effects dependent on hitting or attacking with attack skills, such as Defensive Anthem.
  • Resurrection skills will not work on non-fleshy creatures, such as Djinn.
  • If a skill has an effect that can trigger X times, the skill will end after the last triggering is used up.
  • If a skill is removed from your skill bar entirely between the time a character began using it and the end of its activation time, you will receive the message "That skill is still recharging."
  • Most skills trigger their effect at the end of the activation time, but attack skills cause their effect halfway through like ordinary weapon swings. This is important for attack skills that override the normal attack rate of a weapon: for instance, Hunter's Shot has a listed activation time of 1 second, but fires the arrow after 0.5 second (and displays an 0.5-second windup in the skill windup bar).
